Where is the shield, I used to have in the address bar?
I don't see the small shield next to items in the address bar. Now all I have is a lock green or gray, which is not bad, but I want the other "indicator" armor of return. See the image attached to the shield of a Mozilla help page
If you think that mixed the active content blocking does not work on your Firefox, you can check here to verify that it has not been extinguished:
(1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press enter/return. Click on the button promising to be careful.
(2) in the search above the list box, type or paste mix and make a pause so that the list is filtered
(3) If security.mixed_content.block_active_content preference is set to false instead of true, try double-clicking it to restore the normal behavior. If the status is 'locked' and you can't reactivate, likely to indicate a unwanted "autoconfig" file that we can help you study or malicious software.

What happened to the button on the left end of the address bar which allow you to see the pages you had been so that you don't have to click the back button several times? You can look at the drop down window of pages and just choose whatever you want. I use it all the time and it is not on FF4. I want to go back to the old FF.
If you right click on your back button, or click and hold down the mouse button, it will display the list. (I prefer a click-right, because sometimes my fingers slide when I try to click and hold)

I would like to see my search results in the address instead of the results bar previously visited (if possible a mixture of both), I just wondered if their was anyway to do it, without using the mini search bar. Thank you!
I think that for now, you need an add-on to display search suggestions below the address bar you type, if I interpret correctly your question.
- Here is an example of an add-on that shows search suggestions: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/omnibar/
- You can turn off bookmarks and/or history using the Panel of the Privacy Options dialog box: https://support.mozilla.org/kb/awesome-bar-find-your-bookmarks-history-and-tabs#w_how-can-i-control-what-results-the-location-bar-shows-me

It seems there will be no solution on other forums. And I can't trace anything whether it's relevant to this site in my computer
Hello pan903, you can try to install the addon Search reset , or manually reset the url search engine by typing on: config in the address bar of firefox (confirmed the message information where it appears), seeking the preference named keyword.url and right click and reset it to its default value.

whenever I open several tabs, I can't clear the address bar to enter a new URL address... I'm using the latest beta version of FF
Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > appearance/themes).
- Makes no changes on the start safe mode window.

It works if you open a new window?

This just started happening. Whenever I you use Ctrl + f tool, I type a letter and then I start typing the following letters in the address bar. I have to click in the search box type each letter as it jumps to the address bar with all the letters of type I. It's very frustrating, please help.
It certainly isn't by design... In the case where one of your extensions is concerned, could test the search mode without failure of Firefox feature? It is a standard diagnostic tool to disable some advanced features of Firefox and extensions. More info: questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode.
You can restart Firefox in Mode safe mode using either:
- button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > restart with disabled modules
- Help menu > restart with disabled modules
Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still works
After stops in Firefox, a small dialog box should appear. Click on 'Start mode safe' (not reset).
Any difference?

How to type ' topic: config' in the address bar. Where is this bar?
original title: what is the "address bar".
My answer to help asked me to enter about: config in the address bar. I have this typed in the start search bar and you press on enter and nothing happened?
Is the 'bar' another sector?
Thank you
The address bar in a web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome) shows that the address of the Web site you are viewing - he starts with http://. It is located near the top of the browser window and this is where you type "subject: config."

use a search engine in the address bar
Hello
for one or two years, firefox has had an update to change the search parameters.
Before that happened, we used to use the address bar of google-search and use of the search bar for individual searches like imdb or in some cases use of keywoards for individual research via the address bar. The 'new' - versions of firefox (I guess it was the update 23 FF and all the following versions) replaces the browser.search.defaultsearchengine whenever you change the engine in the search bar. In this way, the two bars of Act quite the same when it comes down to research. It took some time for the (German) supportpages update to this new behavior, but now that this has happened, there is still no clue how to change it back to the old settings, where the search bar is the search and address bar only led to a search via google, when it was necessary.
So how can pick us up with a search engine in the adressbar again without going through the embarrassment of having to choose the search bar engine?
I couldn't find useful information or plugins and 'Smart search' and 'Keywords' are no option for us.I would really appreciate help with this.
Thanks in advance

Edit: fault of typing/syntax

I can't type in the web address in the address bar. I have to open a new tab to do.
I just upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7. I reinstalled firefox, added the shortcode that I liked so much and then tried to use firefox. I can not type the URL in the address bar when I start firefox. I always have to open a new tab before it let you me. I can't highlight and copy what is typed here - also, AND I can't "paste and go" more. That open disappeared?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).
- Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode without failure.

New laptop. Downloaded Firefox and could not activate the address bar doesn't so no back arrows or hometown icon or research, etc.
Please do not suggest that I access the controls in the address bar. I do not have an address bar to access anything whatsoever.
I don't want to customize the address bar. I just want to be able to see and use the controls in each illustration to the getting started and help watch are here, as they were on my old laptop.First of all, make sure that you are not in the mode "full screen" of Firefox. The F11 key toggles between the normal modes and full screen.
Second, you can activate the individual toolbars on and outside using either:
- Right click on an empty area of the tab bar
- Click the "+" button on the tab bar
- Press the Alt key > menu view > toolbars
The address box is on the Navigation toolbar.
If the Navigation bar is displayed but the address box is missing, your bars may be damaged. You can use the 'Restore Default Set' button in the Customize dialog box to restore. Customize Firefox commands, buttons, and toolbars.
A little luck?
