iMessage causing battery drain?

Yesterday my iPhone 6 autonomy began to fall sharply.  Today, it is exactly the same thing.  I'm in iOS 9.3.1 and yesterday I went in the battery settings screen where it says iMessage is the major user of battery.  Today, it is watch that iMessage used 62% of my battery in the last 24 hours and I have not used much at all.

Yesterday when I first noticed it, I closed iMessage by double clicking the home button and drag up.  Then I rebooted the phone by pressing the two buttons.  No improvement.

Suggestions?  Thank you!

    Hello

After I got updated to 10.0.1 on my iPhone iOS 5 I noticed that more than 45% of the use of the battery is for 'Activity from bottom of Messages'. Is this some kind of a bug? Is there a temporary solution for this? [image attached]

    Thank you.

    Hello isurusam,
Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

If I understand your post using your posts up to 44% of your usage time of battery after update to iOS 10.0.1. I recommend maximizing your battery life by following the advice in the article from the link below:

Maximize the life of the battery and battery life

Background activity. This indicates that the battery has been used by the application while he was in the background - in other words, while you were using another application.

    • To improve the battery life, you can disable the feature that allows applications to background refresh. Go to settings > general > background App refresh and turn the switch to Off.

  • BlackBerry, BlackBerry Z10 Z10 - battery drains very quickly even in sleep mode

My BlackBerry Z10, model number: STL100-1 v10.3.1.1565 of running operating system is suddenly cause battery drain issues. Earlier it used to happen very often that the battery begins to elapse without reason to a very fast pace, say, 100% to 20% in 2 hours standby.
From last 3-4 days, which happens all the time, I'm charging my Z10 to 100% and the battert runs in an hour or two with the phone gets hot as hell. Seriously, the temperature of the phone rises as it is boiling. It wasn't even a year and I am facing this problem. I was never tired of BlackBerry despite its app support deficiency compared to Android and iOS smartphoned but now I want to throw the phone in the river.

What Android apps you have installed?

Try first, do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry this way: with smart BlackBerry poweredphone, remove the battery for a minute and then reinsert the battery to restart. A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most defects and errors of operating system, and you will lose any data on the device doing so.

Look at your device sometime and see how it goes.

  • With ios10 battery drain

My battery drains with ios 10. As soon as I installed, I noticed that the drain was immediate. As in 6 hours, it was almost 25%.

I read in the posts to go to the battery in settings to see what is causing the drain and she is running in the background at 59% of the agenda was 10% of Messages. Which cannot be turned off like a support staff told to do. Go to the background refresh and disable the application. Of Messages is not in the list of apps to go out, then it will not work in the background he.

It's terrible this new ios with messages. I wish that I could turn it off or return to ios9.

I hope that Apple will correct it soon. I searched Google too and it is everywhere in line with with ios 10 battery drain.
There is hope that they do something about this. This is only my second iphone and loved until this.

Well, I hope this problem is solved!

Restore your device to the factory settings and set in place like new.  That will probably be your battery problem.

  • Battery Drain on the IPhone 6s tried all what my batterery usually lasts a full 24 hours 6 now even not help

Tried most everything on the IPhone 6s battery drain because I've updated also OS 9.3.2 my battery went from Excellent too horrible will appreciate greatly any help too recti this question

Have what troubleshooting you tried? First, go to settings > farm and see what app is listed as using the highest percentage of your battery. You may have a blocked process that seeks to complete. How is - what report you? Weak signal will also cause a drain in the battery. Troubleshooting user steps include reboot, reset, restore from backup, restore to factory; tests after each stage. If you get all the way to the factory restore, make sure that you have a current backup of the phone and after the restoration, test before adding additional content to the device. This can help to rule out software problems.

  • iPhone 6 s massive battery drain iOS 9.3.2

After upgrading my iPhone iOS 9.3.2,and 6s I feel huge battery drain. Day before the update, my battery was normal. Usually I lose 30% of 08:00 to 14:00.

Now, after unplugging for 5 minutes, I'm 95% after 3 hours 59% etc.

I tried to set up as new iPhone, installed the new OS with iTunes, but no change.

Off location, off automatic backlight, the signal of the complete network.

What should do? It is obviously a huge problem, because I can't rely on my phone.

I've updated my 6 Plus and have not noticed any radical change on the battery life, good or bad. What you have all services like location, mobile data, updating in the background app, Bluetooth, etc. put on the market and it is what causes the battery?

  • Solution of as influenced by identityservices battery Drain / Messages

iOS9 battery draining - in regards to the identityservices and Messages - affects IPhone, look at and OS X Devices

Some people have problems with the battery drain on their iOS devices. We have two sets of iPhone (each a 6s +) / Watch combinations - each running the latest versions - 9.3.1 and 2.2 respectively. On watchmaking and the iPhone battery drain has been noticed about five days after the release of the 9.3.1. I took the devices in the genius bar - they have worked on them for three hours - have many things to watch - restored like new. They also have to reset all the settings on the IPhone - all to nothing does not. Both devices had abnormal battery drain. They agreed to leave the ticket open for problems not solved.

I found a post that suggested the signing of all services. I tried on the first combination of iPhone and watch. It seemed clear the issue. I tried it a day later on the second phone - battery drain still very badly on the second set - it did not work. Tests showed that the watch itself (corresponding iPhone not tuned on) not not drain - drain you only while the iPhone is in. And the iPhone itself drained.

Next step: I ran Xcode instruments on iPhone still questions. I ran the monitor of activity several times for different periods. Run the latest showed the system task: identityservices consuming more than 5 HOURS CPU time in a period of 9 hours sleep. Safe to say that the task system was draining the battery. The iOS log lists the iPhone that task in the form of your CPU time excessive - and that the thread, the cause is linked to a message store. I did more research and found that this system task seems to have created problems of battery in another version of the IOS too.

I also found that the OS X version of this task (identityservicesd) created a countless number of error messages in the console log on two of our OS X devices (iMac and MacBook). He also ran the battery down on the laptop - quickly. Weapons of this information I instrumented again iPhone. I started to stop every iOS device - (two iPhones and two iPads) one by one - when three of these aircraft have been closed the identityservices task fell to minimal use of CPU - is no longer than 50-90-105%. In addition the corresponding task on the OS X iMac and MacBook stopped spitting out error messages.

I rebooted each iOS a device once they have been fully charged. The task of "runaway" system (identityservices) is back to very low use. On the iPhones battery life now - after being in mode standby for five hours - very low consumption 'use '. Not doing much with phones as five hours. Previously, its use was almost equal to the wait time - it was a low ratio. Now, it's an a very high ratio - about a 1 to 10. For those who like % - after five hours, it is 97%.

Regard to watches - we turn those and soon back on IPhones and see how they do. I'll post a report on those later in the day.

UPDATE: watches are now running to the normal battery level.

Error messages identityservicesd on OS X machines indicated that the error was associated with a particular 'ID of Machine' (not the same as the serial number appearing on). I'll see if I can track this number down to a specific device. I don't know how to find the Machine ID on the devices iOS - or watches also. Perhaps one of the devices was a problem - most likely turn off all devices and caches of posts offset by a reboot.

I think that some people may have the same problem - but perhaps do not realize it because they are used for a certain battery life level - or maybe they don't have it not as bad. In any case, I don't think that this particular system should continue to work and consume high CPU when there is a problem.

I hope this note helps people who seem to have battery problems. This isn't for everyone - I consider the following to determine if she could help.

    • Check your iOS log (settings |) Privacy | Diagnostics & use) for an entry that starts with: ExcResource_identityservicesd-2016-MM-DD...
    • If you have one or more of the above - the chances are that this may help you
    • Turning off all IOS devices (and maybe your OS X devices too - not sure if this is necessary) and feed them back on one by one.
    • Simple - for us it was very efficient
    • My concern - this can happen again if the tasks system is not changed.

My plan is to submit a bug report to Apple to document this behavior as son

For reference, here is an example of messages that have been continuously (~ 5/s) being produced in the log of OS X console during periods of exhausting high battery.

I have this same problem on my iPhone running iOS 9.3.1 6. I have not noticed any additional drain on my Apple Watch if. My iPhone battery life was fine before today where he went from 100% to 0% after having not used 8 1/2 hours. The only thing I did differently from any other day, it's Add airtime to my phone (I use Tracfone prepaid service). But this type of battery drain is not never happened before.

It doesn't look like my iPad 2 Air, MBPr 2014, and iMac 2013 (all updates running) seem to have no effect on my iPhone (and vice versa). My Apple Watch seems to have an effect minor on it, where the identityservices process will draw upward when the watch is connected at the start and then things will calm down back with occasional changes, but nothing drastic or "abnormal" (compared to the iPad).

One thing I noticed is that my old Apple devices (a 2009 iMac and a MacBook Pro 2008) send the process identityservices on my iPhone skyrocket as soon as they are turned on and connected to the wifi, and then once they are off the process comes back down. And with the iPhone locked, connected to Wifi with Bluetooth, when you are connected to the activity of Instruments monitor. Turn my iPhone market again (several times) has not changed anything. Even after the phone is dead earlier battery drain is always the same.

Thanks for all your advice! I'll try and see if I can get it working again "normal."

I'll also try to restore my iPhone and set up as nine (do not restore backup) since I restored recently to go to a backup and thought he could have problems with the backup that I restored from the phone display incorrect numbers for the size of the backups and what was actually be saved. I will update this post to see if things change after restoring my iPhone.

  • Spectrum 360: battery drain

I notice that my drains battery very fast when I turn the laptop off the coast and don't turn it back on for several days. Often, when I come back, my battery is at "0%".

That night in the life of the battery?

    Leave it plugged could cause.

By "internet connection", do you mean a USB wifi dongle any?

Do you mean a CAT5 to the usb dongle? My current loan of HP product was shipped with one of these.

Check the power options to ensure that the port turns off when the laptop is turned off.

I'm not saying that. The battery drains up to 0% will not damage it.  I'm just surprised that it happens.

  • iPhone 5 with 9.2.1 NEW battery drains during the night

In recent weeks has been my iPhone battery drain from one day to the next. It will be held at 55% and the next morning completely dead. It took to Apple, they replaced my battery under warranty cause I replaced in November and reset the network settings and the device. Last night, he was about 33%, and I woke up to it quite dead. I had no running applications. During the day, it doesn't drain on hold.  It will retain 100% mode sleep during the day. Is there a bug in 9.2.1?

  • IPad Air battery drain after 9.2.1 Update :(

Since the update to 9.2.-, the battery life of my faithful Air iPad seems to be screwed.

I think I was on IOS 8 or something before, when they were still on the right, instead of being now on the left, as they used to be with my first iPad. Battery drain is ridiculous now.

I looked for solutions and made the thing to hard reboot (power button / stop and the home, flamed Maple logo button, restart, etc.) more times than I can count and have asked the entire farm advice I can find to save ((change of email to extraction, manual instead of push, turning off the motion auto-updates off (, the app update, etc.) without success

What bothers me most is that even when it is plugged in and over, if I use it, the battery is still visibly draining.

Reluctant to a backup of a computer and a complete reset from zero, last resort, obvs.

If anyone has the answer? Or are we supposed to expect that Apple to orovide another patch to sort?

Advice or suggestions received with gratitude, I don't want to take the risk of roll back to IOS 9 or 9.1 either - from what I've seen online, there was too much battery drain issues with those, too.

Come on, Apple! It is simply not good enough!  My iPad has lost 3% just to write this! While that plugged!

According to the useage thing battery in parameters, 85% of it is down to Safari. My use of Safari has not changed at all.

Impossible to find a suitable place really that Apple give me an option after that, so stick under the Safari option as all the rest has nothing to do with my question bsttery, he had nothing remotely applicable under 'software update' - which was on windows! If someone can tell me a better place to put this, I would be grateful. Newbie on this forum :/

Some iOS processes tend to run constantly in the background.

Make sure that you don't have a lot of applications running in the background in the app selector (less than say 8 apps).

Keep the screen brightness down to somewhere between the two allows 40-60% or more with the longevity of the battery.

You can try my list of suggestions to see id that this helps with both performance AND battery life.

Some of these may be superfluous, so try the ones you haven't tried.

Try to reset all the settings in the settings under general app and in the right column under restore.

Try stories reset and delete/reset the caches in all web browsers you use.

If you use Safari, these features may be in the application settings under Safari.

Other browsers have their settings inside the running application itself.

If your iPad has been activated for iCloud, in the application settings under iCloud, to the right, under iCloud Drive, type in iCloud drive and make sure that Safari is off to save data from Safari to iCloud by car.

Also, under iCloud in the application settings, in iCloud Drive, turn the feature off saving for all other desired apps DO NOT the data automatically on iCloud drive.

In the application settings tab general, right under the spotlight sesrch, try disable the search under the applications who really don't need a research, as some games, remote controls, apps that are really useless to be searched, etc., in order to reduce the list to Spotlight search.

Try to turn the reduced movement.

This is found in the application of settings in the general tab, in the left panel.

In the right panel, look under accessibility, look to reduce the Motion and turn this feature "On".

You should see a significant performance increase on all models of iPad 2, 3 and 4.

In the application settings under the general tab, in the right column, search background App update and enable this setting to "off".

If you are willing to do (I, personally, would not recommend this), some users have reported that turn off find my phone/iPad, in the settings app in iCloud, has improved the performance of iOS, although I have no how this feature could be the cause of such a slowdown in execution, unless it's a bug in the iOS which only affects some iPad users.

Try an another hard reset of your iPad by simultaneously pressing buttons Home and sleep/wake button until your iPad goes to the dark and restarts with the Apple logo, then release the buttons.

    Good luck!

  • Y40 - battery drain

    Hello

My battery drains completely from 100% to 0% very quickly (less than 30 min) even when shutdown.

I get the 'low battery' message pop up and he suggested that I need to replace it.

My laptop (Y40) is age of only ~ 6 months so still under warranty.

How can I solve my problem? Not do I really need a new battery or if something can cause this error?

My warranty covers the replacement of the battery?

How should I go about replacing my battery if I have to?

In response to customer relationships of unexpected behavior portable Y40 - 70 and Y40-80 meter battery, Lenovo has determined that the battery meter software is working as expected. The unusual calibre results being reported are the reflection of the battery reaches the end of life.

  • Sudden battery drain, not iOS 9.2, resolved

A few days ago, my battery suddenly began to fast drainage. Classic symptom: in settings/battery standby time was equal to its use. (see: http://appinstructor.com/blog/2014/the-ultimate-guide-to-solving-ios-battery-dra to). It was not caused by 9.2, because it was almost a week after the installation of 9.2. Here are the troubleshooting steps I followed:

    • Reset by pressing the HOME and SLEEP until the Apple logo appears – not solved
    • Killed all the apps after double-tapping the HOME button, then reset as above - not solved
    • Off push email - unresolved
    • Settings/battery tested; the best app was calendar, 78% of the use of the battery - this reduces the search
    • Knowing that an MS Exchange account can sometimes exhaust the heavy battery, I deleted my Exchange account and the reset - not solved
    • Additional hint: in OS X Activity Monitor on my Mac the application calendar used huge amounts of data - beyond 1 GB transfer
    • The only other source of calendar events was iCloud, so I turned off iCloud calendar and back again - battery drain stopped
    • Added my Exchange account back - no extra battery drain
    • If the problem was related to iCloud contacts. On a hunch, I left iCloud calendar off all night. When I turned it on once again the battery drain has not returned - problem solved.
    • The use of heavy data in Mac OS X stopped when I turned off iCloud calendar.

While I can't explain why it worked, I can speculate that there is data corruption in the Calendar database, which was somehow fixed by leaving it turned off for a period of time.

Thank you Laurent this added to my favorites.

  • Battery draining very fast - help please!

My new bike 360 ran great. A load was throughout the day. I was playing with some of the apps (i.e. Fit) and now when I take it off the cradle it discharge completely in about 2-3 hours and the back of the watch is hot. I tried:

    1. Uninstall all the dials and applications loaded on the app store

    2. Several rounds of power power off

    3. Several reboots via settings

    4. Complete reset via settings

Now, after my last reset to try and fix the battery drain issue than my watch will not pair with my Moto X Gen 2. I get the screen pairing on my Moto X with the PIN but never matching invites on the watch.

    • How to understand what is causing the drain and stop it? I suspect an app, but I expect a complete reset to clear all the apps running and get back to zero. When my watch was paired the screen on my phone in wear battery check showed a spot with the Android icon but no name using 10 to 11% of the battery and carry himself with 10-11%.

    • How can I get my watch to pair up again? I do one reset complete one another? Y at - it a reset "better" than that of parameters?

I don't want to try and return the watch to replace, but unless there are tricks I don't know that I do not see how to get the watch to where it was when I first took it out of the box.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    Update:

I finally got my watch to pair after charging and do another Reset. Here is my battery according to battery screen shows wear. Since the snapshot was taken, she dropped to 81%.

What are the applications with Android logos with no name? How do I know where my battery go and how that stop him?

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Update 2:

The battery seems to have flattened after another Reset 6 hours left still seems short. Still, I would like to know what the application without a name with the Android logo is on the screen of the watch battery if someone has an idea:

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Update 3:

I rebooted the watch to get a better idea of how long it would last now that she seemed to be fixed. I am back to linear with draining after losing almost 25% of the initial charge in the first 15 minutes of the charger. Wear said that I have a little more than one hour of charge left.

Do I have to file an order for compensation? It seems that the battery may be fubar would. I am full of ideas. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Update 4:

Now "wear Android has stopped working" on the watch! Wear on my phone says 'Connection' and none of the functions that talking on the phone work. According to the phone BlueTooth is paired. I'm losing patience with this device given how much we paid for it.

Uninstalled all the dials and apps. Did a Reset. Re-pair with my phone. Battery performance is good now. I rebooted only some of the faces that I had loaded initially and only the app bring to the current seems to be OK now.

  • During Hibernation battery drain

Battery of my PC laptop Lenovo X61s (Vista Business) drains approximately 5-8% during hibernation (about 8 hours).

Lenovo has confirmed the battery drain and sent me a patch. However, he has not recently, after some Vista/Lenovo updates.

When I bought the PC, the battery drain did not. The problem appeared after some Vista/Lenovo updates. The only workarounds are:

    1. remove the battery for a brief second and reattach.
    2. remove the AC adapter before hibernation.
    3. use Shutdown instead of Hibernation.
    4. do not install updates/patches after complete reinstallation of Vista.

The battery drain issue seems to affect other Lenovo, Dell and other brands as models. I think the problem has to do with Vista and all the patches. Does anyone have a solution?

    Hi all

battery drain can be caused by a number of reasons. Most of them is meant to be like this (ability to Wake-on-lan, wake-up regular tasks, hybrid sleep, etc.). Others are "bugs", they are not supposed to use the power during hibernation. Trying to eliminate battery drain, ALL possible factors must be addressed, otherwise drain may still be the case.

If there is no flow during hibernation on battery power or hibernation and briefly put (and re-insertion) the battery later, the High Definition Audio Controller is most likely the culprit. Applying the fix mentioned above should solve the problem.

If there are brains, then you must look in all other possible causes first. The High Definition Audio Controller can still be selected feeding when hibernation while that looted and do not remove the battery by the suite, but you will be only once all other causes have been eliminated (and at least one will be the case). In rare cases, a bad battery will be the reason.

Please see the following thread and those related to it in order to check most of the other causes of energy during hibernation:
