  Simple (I hope) questions on imovie and iphoto/photos/itunes... Well simple enough...

  I use imovie 09 with El Capitan. As you know that el Capitan not including iphoto, imovie 09 can no longer access to iphoto.  Pictures is the replacement for iphoto and imovie 09 will not otherwise be. Finally, imovie 09 access is more itunes.

  I have so many projects that are now useless, like all pictures and external soundtracks are more accessible.

  IF I update to imovie 10 version (a snip at £10.99 apparently)...

  (a) my imovie 09 projects will be viable, IE. will be links to the (ex-iphoto, now photos) images and itunes files to recovery for my old projects are not lost forever?

  (b) the new imovie will be able to access photos and itunes as good old imovie 09 used to before el capitan burned its bridges for her?

  This may be academic, because in some things I can't access my old projects in any case. What is scary and sad.

  Have you tried updating iPhoto version 9.6.1? This version works well on El Capitan and iMovie 9.0.9 shows iPhoto libraries in the photo browser. The screenshot below is from iMovie on OS X 10.11.5 9.0.9: I don't have older versions of iMovie, if they are still able to see the iPhoto library.

  I migrated libraries iMovie 9.0.9 to 10, some time ago, and the conversion was lossless. But I can't test what will happen now.

• What size an iMovie project maybe? Quality audio during playback

  Need big-time help from some pros iMovie 11 out there. I would like to have a more recent machine on which I could use the latest version.

  I am re-a one hour film editing, that I made for the anniversary of this year 25 years ago, and I'm afraid of project file may be too large. I have lots of sound effects and music added added that begin to abandon during reproduction, which wasn't a problem for weeks, so the project was smaller. I think pretty well I can't get all on a DVD, so I will break the film into two parts, I should have an intermission still. What can I / should I duplicate the event or project, or both and delete the last half of the movie from the original project / event and then delete the first half of the film of the copy (assuming that I can copy of in iMovie)? If possible, I think two small-sized projects would be better than a big project and event. I do not know if I must and can copy an event, since the same source files would be shared by the two smaller projects. Sorry to ramble on, but I need an intervention of paranoia here. p.s., if I connect an external USB drive to back up my iMovie project, should I just copy the files to iMovie in my users-movie file, or is there another way?   HI, Carlat,

  Share the lack of space on your hard drive or an external drive, there is no limit on the size an iMovie project can be.  If you have a slow computer, you may have some difficulties with it now with your editing, and there may be some stuttering or abandonment you observe.

  Your computer may not be fast enough to playback in iMovie to deal with the drafting of a major project.   Probably it's just a problem of reading and shared final project on will play well.  If the abandonment issue bothers you, your idea of dividing two projects while you work on it is good.   You can join the two projects together when you're ready to share it.  (You can take a video of 2 hours on a standard DVD disc, this project of 1 hour adapt you very well if you want to keep onto a single disc.)  As you mentioned, don't forget to save or duplicate your original project before starting it a re-release and then work on the copy.   That way if something is wrong you still have your original intact.

  I'm not as familiar with Mi9 I am with the current iM10.1.2 version, so I will let others answer additional questions.

• iMovie not show iTunes in the drop-down list. IMovie 09 and El Capitan 10.11.5 running. This has happened only. Previously worked well.

  Previously, I was able to access the library iTunes in iMovie 09 without problem but now when I click on the icon of music in iMovie to access my music all I see are pre-loaded sound effects and not the content of my iTunes library. I'm under El Capitan 10.11.5.

  The latest version of iTunes 12.4.0 is not compatible with iMovie version 9 and will appear only in iMovie 10.1.x. You must export the music that you want to use in iMovie 9 and made drag in iMovie. Also, be aware that iMovie 9 is not compatible with El Capitan, so you could experience problems with frames display, black picture in the viewer etc.

  I got a Satelite L750-12N computer laptop and work just for 1/2 minute after sound from speakers stop and I need to relog or restard pc to read still sound speaker still 1 minute, headphones work well but I get speaker sound 1 minute and then my laptop is as mute.

  I have no problems with the driver, I have reinstaled, Unistaled, updated, Changed, changed operating system and nothing same problem with win 7 x 60 and now with win 8 x 64, updated the bios with the latest version etc...

  I guess its related material issue since you have already installed the Win 7 and Win 8 OS and the question appear with two Windows systems.

  Based on the fact that the earphones are OK, I think that its hardware related issue maybe speaker problems
  From my point of view, you should ask service for a verification of the hardware guys.

  I have two jacks speaker on the side, with a microphone jack. Question; Why have I not two speaker jacks, and what are the 'characteristics' that provides the Beats Audio?

  The additional is for sharing - and other games.

  Audio beats is mainly a marketing thing.  The full impact of the audio cannot be lived without some higher end equipment: headphones or external speakers that you attach to your computer.  The built-in speakers are... hmm... not a copy.  If you invest in some good speakers / headphones, beats chip will provide some audio very nice.  The controls are somewhat the same thing you would find in a pile of control.

• El Capitan USB question

  Hello Apple,

  Since the upgrade to 10.11 'el Capitan' several of my USB devices does not work properly, which up to now worked perfectly. To name only a few, these include the eBook reader Sony PRS - T3, AVR, ST-Link2 programmer, FT232 programmer (sometimes). In addition, VirtualBox and Parallels, which I use frequently, have questions calling for USB devices. Apparently I'm by far not the only one, as revealed by a quick search on the internet, for example

  Common to all these pages share the conclusion that the issue was introduced by Apple with 10.11 and that until this Apple support could not answer - at least in a useful way. And the advice to wait for the driver updates is not always an option for me the two for reasons of time or because support for example, PRS - T3 has been abandoned altogether.

  To sum up: there are a lot of people and equipment who have a problem of USB introduced El Capitan. The problem persists for some time now and there is no support by Apple, or at least a statement how they intend to solve. This is the shit!

  I'm a Mac user since the days of--oh, I don't know even the name of the model! And above all, I was very satisfied. But I must say that lately I wonder if that faithfulness is well spent. For me (and others) crucial things that worked perfectly before now fail and apparently Apple cares.

  I have the same problem with USB: I have a cam action by Garmin, which had functioned normally before the El Capitan 10.11. No it was not acknowledged more. Using the DMESG command in the terminal, when the cam is connected to the USB port, I get this feedback:

  It really a mess and I don't understand WHY Apple has not solved this problem despite of El Capitan 10.11.03 was last updated. I really get off at Yosemite. But really I couldn't think that apple were so unprofessional!

• XPS 9550 headphone / audio question

  Hello

  Anyone else with the XPS 15 9550 has problems with headphones / internal speakers not working not properly?

  Start the computer without any headphones, the speakers work. However the headphones do not work if it is inserted.  On remove the headphones, the speakers, then stop working.

  However if the start-up of the PC with headphones inserted, the headphones work.  On remove, the speakers do not work.  The headphones do not work if reinserted.

  These two scenarios were fixed by restarting the PC.

  10 windows, and all drivers, including BIOS and audio - are up to date at 17/11/5.

  Yes change the daughter card worked for me.

  Initially when I posted I thought it would be a driver problem.  After the successive updates pilot / changes did nothing, I replaced it a couple of weeks.  It took the technician about 20 minutes total

  The headphones and the sound now works as it should.

• First film edited with Premiere - proxy, audio questions and multi-cames

  I have several questions that I have not found in the videos and forums, at least not for my situation. I'm finishing the revision of sequences now adding comments in prelude and will begin soon to change it. Please excuse the long post.

  Background:

  I'm working on my first film, a documentary. Most of my work is 10-11 interviews, about an hour each. The majority is 4K Panasonic GH4, but some of the images is an Olympus MDGS EM5 II 1080.

  I recorded the sound using a LAV and a shotgun microphone, each goes in its own channel in a Tascam DR - 70 d, an external audio recorder, with a line going into the camera for reference. Audio and video files (at least one, since GH4 brings several) will have a slate tone to the head, created by the audio recorder. The recorder has captured the audio 24-bit, 16-bit audio captured camera. The recorder fooled also two other channels to lower 12db audio in the case of audio peaks.

  I will be changing on Mac laptop - 2013 MacBook Pro, OS 10.11.5, 2.9 Ghz Intel Core i7 memory of 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce GT 650 M 1024 MB graphics card. I think I need to create my images 4 K proxies.

  All images is storage on my external drive of G. The interviews are separated and are located in the folders of each interviewee.

  The final project will be 1080, not 4K.

  Questions:

  Naming - being a hybrid, the GH4 breaks an interview of an hour in several separate files. Should I change the names of all files, or keep them in folders named in Premiere Pro? If I should change them, should I do it before swallowing?

  First synchronize audio and video, but since I have an audio file and several video files, I synchronize each video file individually or assemble them somehow, then synchronize? If each of these excerpts from the interview is sewn together, wouldn't that make editing more easy?

  When you create proxy for video files, also create proxy for audio files separate? Once synchronized, will be presented first the Hi output version of the resolution of the video and audio?

  Multicamera - in one case, I have an interview with two 1080 cameras. But for the rest, I've shot with a camera in 4K, so I intend to use a section cropped interview (zoom) when an important statement is mentioned, simulating a two cameras set up. Given that I have to create a sequence of multi camera after I ingest proxy files, first will be a problem activating/deactivating files proxy for the salvation of the res files?

  B - roll is added later, once the interviews are published about. It will be a few (not 4K) images and photos. Make the proxies of these too or first care to have all files proxy or a mixture?

  Finally, I have never edited a video which has been more than 10 minutes. This film could be of 40 minutes or up to 90. Everything I need to know to make the editing more smooth? I am a beginner!

  1. allow only file names.  Make your organization with records (hard drive) and ferries (project).

  3. the audio files are small and will not need of proxies.  Export will always use the original media.

  4. possibly.  My first attempt was a disaster that froze the machine so badly, I had to do a hard reset.  However, you need not go back to the original of the sequence to make your cut-ins.  Proxy media will do fine work.  Simply place a copy of the plans at the 50% level in V1 and a second copy on the scale of 100% in V2 when creating the source multicam sequence...  Will allow you to see the full versions and then cropped the multicam editing.

  5. the photos no need of proxies.  If the B-roll change, make proxies for those.  PP not care a spirit to keep all the images the same.

• Audio question

  I am new to the first. I'm learning. But I have what might be a simple question. Audio mixer and audio mixer track. Is there a number where the audio dbs are updated. When you read something that is another number on a timeline shows upward while the clip is then disappears when playback is stop. That's the number that is displayed? Is this an indicator where first think you have to set the level too? I am using first Pro CC 2014. Thanks for your replies.

  This number reflects the level of the signal in the element being read.  It will be the same in the follow-up flag vertical when the slider is set to 0 dB

  If you adjust the slider, the number reflects the change to the clip (+ or-) and the new release of the clip in DB

• Audio questions & sequence in CS5

  Hi all

  I'm new to the forum, but not Adobe. I use Marcus first 6.0 for years and it served my needs greatly but as a gift, I have CS5. Now, I've seen a few questions w / audio and sequencing, I thought that you may be able to help with. I have read many of the tuturials and I'm still questions:

  1. audio: I'm used to be able to change the waveform in a particular clip, which you can't do in CS5. You can move the waveform upwards or downwards, but you cannot break the waveform into pieces and put these pieces in a clip of different volumes. How could I get this? If I wanted to discolor or fade out of a clip I used everything, simply apply a breakpoint in the clip and drag it to the bottom. I know there must be a way to do this. Played around audio gain w / the, I'm still very confused about how to do it. I have video clips where I need to have music as my audio, but some of the video has dialogue and some does not, therefore, I need to be able to adjust the audio in a specific clip.

  2 sequences: I'm editing a little comedy short sketch. I have all my video edited and just need to import some JPEG and GIF files. When I bring those to the chronology makes it appear smaller or larger than the actual size of the image. I dragged the JPEG/gif files to the new icon of the element to create new sequences and a new page opens on the timeline for each time I do this. Now when I go to this page, the image looks good, but how do I get this corrected image on my original calendar with the video? I tried to drag the new sequence on my original calendar and it still shows the images in their modified form. I also tried nesting and that didn't work either. They appear smaller or larger than the way it should look like.

  Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you.

  Instead of creating a new sequence for each size of the image, I think you will better establish a sequence that corresponds to any video in the project and then scaling the stills to match that. In CS5, the ability to scale has been greatly improved, however we have too large photos, there is still overhead to consider treatment.

  The scale to the size of the image can be done automatically with "Scale to Default Frame Size" (or similar syntax) checked, or can be done in another program, such as the PS and with Actions, that will be automated up to a point, as well. Can't remember if I posted this link above, but take a look at this ARTICLE. Give read down the thread, as there's more recent comments (article was written there, years when SD was the norm, and CS5 was not yet a dream yet), which are reflected on the improvements to PrPro from CS5.

• Audio questions G71-340,

  I used my notebook G71-340 for more than a year. The only problem I ever had with him is the audio. Is it possible to improve the audio sound? Even with the volume to max, it is so weak that I have cam barely hear it. I use a work around, bought a pair of rechargeable speakers. I would like to know if there is any way to improve it, or is that the only choice is to replace?

  One thing that can help increase the volume is as follows.  Do a right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "playback devices".  Left click the device once to highlight default (it is usually 'speakers and headphones') and then click the properties button.  Click the enhancements tab and put a check mark in the box "Loudness equalization.  Click on apply to save the changes and then click OK in all other windows and see if allowed at all.

• BlackBerry Bluetooth of Q10 streaming audio question

  When my Q10 connects to my deck (shortly after I start the car) the phone connects to the car without problem. I can make calls, receive calls, etc. - works flawlessly... BUT when you use streaming audio, either through BB Media Player or neutrons MP (downlaoded another player to see if that solves the problem) the connection drops suddenly after about 40 to 80 seconds of game very well.

  Only happens 1 in every 2 - 3 times, it happened regularly during the last 2 months, since I have the phone. I use audio streaming via bluetooth minimum 2 x a day... and he abandoned the connection regularly. is going to play the song for a while, then suddenly the connection BT grave (stereo says no device connected). so I restart the phone, and then it connects / plays very well (it solves every time after a reboot). This never happened with my 9900.

  Among the previous updates OS (to Sept 2013) permanently fixed. I forgot to mention!

• BlackBerry Z10 Bluetooth streaming audio question

  Since 10.3.1 on my Telus Z10 stl3

  When I first upgraded to 10.3.1 all associated BT seemed to work pretty well except for the phone should continue to play the song after I turned off the sync from Ford and opened the door. Normally he stopped at this stage.

  Then a week later I can not the audio out of the car system. BT connect, the phone works, I can launch the audio player via the voice command of the car, the song and I can jump forward and back with the buttons on the wheel, but not sound. It is as if the volume down (which is not)

  I have re-paired on the phone a couple of times, I did a boot cold on the phone with a hot couple starts.

  So, the solution was to use a link BB/preferences/charging device software. NOT FACTORY RESET, which is a security wipe.

  It is a soft brick, it wiped everything and reloaded the OS current carrier.

  Everything is good.

  I add still held apps of BBworld a little at a time to see if one of these were the reason messed Bluetooth.

• Image of the song and Audio Question

  I asked for, but could not find an answer. I'm just trying to put a video song together again, a picture and audio. When I export the image is severely pixelated and I can't understand how bounce without distortion.

  Yes... 'media' refers to what we put on a timeline, so stills, video, graphics,... and the properties of the media used are important. Awhile back, we had someone who has a problem with the graphics that were fuzzy & pixelated and he couldn't understand why... they were perfect on the DVD, he got from.

  But he was trying to use it on a sequence of 1920 x 1080, and the graphics were 720 x 480. Due to detach from this DVD, because DVD image size dimensions.

  A large number of the video sequence of 4 k shot these days this is being edited on 1920 x 1080 footage, which are the size of the delivery scheduled for work. If you use "enabled to the size of the image" for the media are shrunk to the size of the timeline window...? ... but not resized at all times by the PrPro (as "scale to" would do), you can change your choice at any time, more or less zoom, pan here & back there.

  In this way they can show any video image, or at your option... "zoom in" on a section. For example do a camera interviews, pieces show the person sitting there lap upwards. Another section just watch most of their head... back to the view full... then head & shoulders... back to the view. Yet none of these items have been "extended" past the point of being at least 1920 x 1080 pixels of the original media, so they all look when rendered with.

  But at this point, the media were 4 k. The sequence/timeline was UHD/1920 x 1080.
