  After emptying Imovie 9 of all movie files I thought it would be a good idea to upgrade to iMovie 10.1, of a 'clean slate '. So I did. Everything seems to work well once the new version has been installed, and so I decided to import all files from my film camera to iMovie. So I did, and everything seemed to work fine, nothing unusual. I've been a little more careful as I have experienced the events disappeared before iMovie - without explanation - so I made double and triple to check that all movie files were in the library "events".

  I opened iMovie, and no event is visible. Heeeeelp! Those are movies from the first year of my life child´s. He scares med to think that they are now all lost!

  When I look in the Finder, I see that the size of library iMovie is 16,32 GB, so it seems as if it does not contain some great (I'm thinking film) files, but I can't. In the iMovieevents and iMovieprojects folders there is a file called "UpdatedtoiMovie10".

  I have searched for help in this forum and other forums as well mac online - but am still no idea of what I can do to find the files apparently lost.   I gather you have deleted only the clips but not project and event records.  Is this the case?

  When you open iMovie 10 it will have asked you if you wanted to update the events and projects of iMovie 9.  You must have accepted as the 'UpdatedtoiMovie10' files are used a flags that is only added after update successfully to prevent the update more than once.  This would have created a set of events and projects in iMovie 10 but with no clips.

  To see what is in your iMovie library made a right click on it and select "show the contents of the package.  You should see folders whose names of each event and within must be records called "original media.  This is where your clips must be.

  You may have created inadvertently two libraries and looking now than bad.

  Don't know if I'm on the right track.

  Try if the iMovie preferences will help the disconnection.

  To delete the iMovie preferences leaving iMovie, runs, and then press and hold options and command key at the same time, at the launch of iMovie. Keep now pressed the buttons firmly until you see a command prompt to remove the preference. Confirm.

  

  You have reset all the preferences that have been created from the preferences panel. iMovie will then begin with the Welcome screen.

  When I had a similar problem, the only thing that helped was to create an iMovie library.  Probably a corrupted project in the iMovie current library prevented startup.   The problem persists, if you test different library in iMovie? You can create a library for testing.

• Drop music disappeared in iMovie

  I use iMovie 8.0.6 and OSX 10.10.5. I just "upgraded" to iTunes 12.4 and now I am unable to choose the music from the iTunes library with my video. It allows the use of files in a folder of iLife .caf, that I didn't know existed. No menu drop-down. I leave, restarted, reloaded, opened iTunes prior to iMovie - nothing works. I used this same process hundreds of times with the previous version of iTunes without any problems. I am very frustrated.

  I saw another post with this problem in iMovie 9 and I have the same problem with iTunes 12 and iMovie 9.0.9. Everything in iMovie 10.1.2 works fine, so I think that iTunes 12 is not compatible with versions of iMovie earlier than 10.1.x. One solution might be to export the music you want on the desktop and drag in iMovie.

  I am the proud owner of a Mac Book Pro, 2012 (not quite sure about that, I got it from a second hand..), using always the latest version of the operating system, updates (El Capitan with the last update made yesterday, 08.04.2016) etc.

  The question is: where did the iMovie App? I always thought that it's related to the operating system standard? What to buy in the Apple App Store ($ 15?)?

  I'm confused because one of my friends uses a brand new Mac Book Pro (20015) and the iMovie app has been installed on the machine?

• iMovie export error

  I recently did a video and I want to download on my YouTube channel, but iMovie stop an error when I try to export. It is said that there are video rendering error - 50 and I do not know how to recover. In the video there are a lot of video at the top of the another video that disappears into an exit, I don't know if this would have an impact on export, but there before and I know it shouldn't. What can I do to stop this error from happening?

  

  Making the 50 error normally means that there is a damaged element somewhere in your timeline.  The first thing to try is to copy all of your project into a new project and see if that share the file.  If it gives the same problem, then try to copy half of your project into a new project and see if that shares.  This will tell you where half the clip of problem.  Now share half of the part which still has the problem... and so on until you find the problem clip, which you can then replace.

  I want to create a film based on shots from my personal camera. I started to work with IMovie to create a sequence of opening and added his musical band. I exported the scenes in Quick Time format without any problem. However, when I merge the exported sequence of I film with shots of my video camera, the soundtrack is completely eliminated.

  I checked on the Internet and saw that there might be a problem of "Codecs". To avoid this, I exported the sequence IMovie with Codecs of same as one of my video camera files.

  Now, if I compare the files exported from I Movie and those of my video camera, they have identical characteristics. However, the soundtrack will always disappear when I merge them.

  Could someone please help me solve this problem?

  How would you"merge" files? (I.e. a "QuickTime" format is any form of data compatible with the platform of supply and the specific structure of QT incorporated into real employment that is stored in a container of MOV file on any of up to 99 tracks possible). Also, what app do you use for reading the file 'merged '? (For example, some media players ignore secondary audio tracks as a result of some methods of 'fusion' of files so it is important to know how the files are "merged," whether or not the audio data are "scattered" several tracks, and/or if the Media Player supports playback of multiple, sequential audio popular.)

  The specific codecs and settings using the specific version of iMovie? (The current Mac OS X operating systems have two X QT and 'classic' Qt integrated structure so it is important to know what structure is used here and how).

  As a general rule, you should review the file "merged" to determine why it does not play back correctly rather than comparing the characteristics of the source being merged files. The main problem here seems to be in your project workflow. That is, you seem to be when you perform an operation in two steps rather than edit several iMove multimedia files and then export the combined results in a video the video and audio tracks have been flattened and exported in standard compression formats with unified settings, features and the.

  Version 8 iMovie is not compatible with El Capitan, so you must upgrade to iMovie 10.1.2. To connect to the App Store and look under the purchased Tab. Find iMovie and Garage Band. If they are not there, it may be that the free updates are not available in iMovie 8. I'm not sure about this. They are free to version 9. You can also go to your account and make sure iMovie is not hidden.

  I just upgraded my iMac yesterday at the El Capitan software and everything himself renewed except for my iMovie who slept in the same version (9.0.9).   I am so frustrated with this latest version - I used to be able to make very detailed editing and synchronization of music - now it feels like a roll of the dice.

  I'm on the most recent and iMac, el capitan and iMovie last.

  To change the duration of multiple photos, hold down the SHIFT key, and then select several photos.  In the toolbar at the top of your screen, click the information button (the one that has an i with a circle around it).  You will see a box below and to the right length.  Enter the desired time.   Press return on your keyboard.   All of your selected photos will now have the same duration.

  The background music should not disappear when you add photos.  Don't know why you are having this problem.    However, if you delete the photo to which is attached the audio clip, the audio will be deleted as well.  If your problem persists, you might try a simple reboot, or move your videos to a newly created project.

  There seems to be a bug in iMovie 10.1.x where the library of photos occurs intermittently. The workaround is to launch the photos app before running iMovie. I don't think that he must leave it open. It must be stable in iMovie while iMovie remains open.
