  I have a Logitech C920 webcam, and it is not recognized by iMovie.  It is recognized by Quicktime Player and Photo Booth applications and with one of these, you can save a movie that you can then import into iMovie.

  iMovie does not copy or duplicate. No idea why? I press the option in projects, and nothing happens.

  It only happens in big movies (20 GB of files). Small films seem ok. There is no wheel of progress in the upper right and the players (tried more than one) have enough space.

  I could just backup in other words files ('show in finder' and copy it manually), but think that there must be a solution to this.

I found it does not always take. Another way that seems to work is to make a selection in the browser before you add the clip to the timeline, leaving a few seconds on each end of the clamp.
