iMovie to idvd

Hi all

I use imovie 10.1.1 and idvd 7.1.2 on a Yosemite imac and my question is this:

I save my project in the file to my desktop, and then create a new project in idvd - no problem. However, when I burn the project to a dvd and play on a TV, the sound is good but the image is blurry and tries to keep the focus. Apparently not at what resolution I save my project of importance, the result is always the same. The film is fine on a computer and I expect a deterioration in the quality when converting to dvd, but surely he can be better than what I'm saying.

What I am doing wrong?

It is the quality of the source footage, or am I missing something?

All the tips and ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a bunch,

Sean

You save the file to iMovie in prores format? If the quality is good in iMovie then sharing as prores should give better results in iDVD.

What version of iMovie do you have? iMovie 10 shows your photo library in the media pane of the project. You can directly add pictures and videos to your film project of this component.

iDVD will probably never been updated to be able to see the photo library. Use the file menu "file > import > Image" to import photos from a folder.

To burn a DVD with the latest version of iMovie's iDVD, you must export the movie using the export button and select 480 p as the size. Open iDVD and start a new project, and then drag this file in the sequence exported to iDVD menu window, avoiding the drop areas that see you.

  • DVD (and iDVD) die?  If so, what is the alternative?

    Hi all

I LOVE iMovie 6 (iMovie HD) and iDVD.  I was use to edit and produce my own films at home for years.  I like to create DVDs from pleasure and share with my family and my friends.

The problem is that it seems that the days of DVD are numbered...  New computers come with a DVD player, and most people do not use their DVD players a lot more thanks to streaming services such as NetFlix, Hulu, Amazon, etc...

So my question is this: a DVD player will soon be like old VCRs that some of us still have?  Large boxes, collector of dust, but we can not totally get rid of them because we have a few VHS tapes favorite that we "might" want to play some time?

If DVD and DVD players disappear...  What will I do with my movies at home?

I understand that I could post them on YouTube, but this seems crazy, because I have a lot of home movies!  In addition, I really like the features of a DVD as chapters and be able to create a DVD with several individual films on it.

What I would REALLY like is to be able to create a "DVD", but store it in a flash drive and then a program or something that allows you to my friends and family get the flash drive on their smart TV (or computers) and allow them to access the 'DVD' as if there were a real DVD with all the options of origin that would be available on a disc.

Someone you understand what I mean?  And if yes, does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for the future of the movies at home after the death of DVD have?

    Thank you!

    Lincoln

  • How can I burn a DVD using the latest iMovie?

I'm used to be able to export my iMovie as files DV videos.  I want to retain the original quality without compression.   This is no longer the case with the new iMovie app.  The only choice now is to 'Share' and the same year, when sharing, I always get a message of failure on the part.  I watched the video recorded in my iMovie file and saw that it was only the edited video.  Everything stops, I added was not in the video, but they were in the folder as separate items.  I used to be able to just drop the video filled in iDVD and let this app the rest.  What is the best method to use?  My iDVD crashes now.  Y at - it an application to burn DVDs either free or at a reasonable price?  It's urgent!  I have a project planned for delivery in a few days!

  • My Apple apps will still work when I switch to El Capitan?

First of all, I apologize if it is published in an inappropriate category. I wanted to post in Mac applications, but it has been blocked.

I have a late 2009 13 "MacBook Pro. I soon will be upgrading in El Capitan (saved on a bootable disc) to Snow Leopard (do a clean install on a new SSD). I know that new versions of Safari, iMovie, Garage Band and Photos comes with El Capitan. But my old applications 2009 as iMovie HD, iDVD and others still work when I upgrade?

As for iTunes? I just checked it and it says that it is currently at version 11.4.

Are there apps that I have to buy?

I mean, I know that many people do not really care pictures from iPhoto. If I don't like a photo, can I just transfer on my current version of iPhoto to my Time Machine backup?

    Thank you for your help.

  • Programs is no longer in iLife

Once upon a time iLife had iMovie, iPhoto, IDVD, iWeb, and GarageBand. Somewhere along the way he lost iDVD and iWeb. Can someone please tell me when it happened?

I could not find a suitable for this question so I put it under MacBook Pro, which is what I use.

iDVD and iWeb have been abandoned years ago.

GarageBand can be purchased form the Mac App Store. GarageBand requires a Mac running OS X 10.10 or later version.

iMovie OS X 10.11.2 or later version.

  • Better way to produce a video made home for ATV 4 (with chapters)?

    Hello world

I tried to gather various pieces on this issue from various sources on the net, but either the info is outdated or not detailed enough... and as I'm considering buying an Apple TV 4, I get this response before I actually go out and spend money.

So what I want to achieve is rather banal, I think, but somehow, there seems to be not exactly simple.

    So here go us:

I have a whole bunch of video clips recorded with my camcorder (about 50-60 m2ts files, adding up to more than 3 hours in total length) during my last vacation, I want to cut a movie. This film should have marks of chapter pointing to these points of departure from the old clip. Finally, I would like to watch the movie (located on the drive of my iMac Fusion) via LAN streaming on Apple TV. The detailed questions are:

    1. What better software use to cut and the chapter? The latest version of iMovie or Adobe Premiere elements 14 (I) will do the job or I need Final Cut Pro? Of course, it would be cool if the chapter information could be automatically when adding clips to the timeline. Also, I heard of small but useful tools such as mChapter and Subler to set chapter marks later, but this seems rather tedious for me considering the fact that I have my original material is clips of 50-60...

    2. What is the best output format that gives the best playback quality and which preserves these chapter markers for playback on the ATV 4?

3 Apple TV 4 actually does support selection chapter during playback at all? I read conflicting statements on the management of chapter in ATV 4... also on the ability to simply jump back through chapters...

    4. How would the final movie playback using Apple TV 4 actually work? Do I have to import my movie in my library iTunes first? Or just point to a folder on my iMac, which contains the final video file the ATV? How about using third-party software to do this (I hear there VLC for tvOS now for example)?

    5. Finally: is there or is there not the possibility of maybe having tiles for these chapters? I hear too many contradictory statements on this topic...

In fact, my first idea was to create a structure of Blu - ray files on my iMac and streaming as the entire structure of the Apple TV, including all chapter marks and even the menus, but even if it seems possible with an application called Kodi for Apple TV (and, of course, Kodi ONLY), it doesn't seem to be too convenient , so I'm ready to switch to a single movie file, but as there is no support for the Nice menus etc. with this method, at least with chaptering should be possible...

Thank you 1000 times for your tipps - and sorry if my questions are quite long...

    Best,

    Gero

Let me make some suggestions on your project.

A 3 hours long House holiday video with 60 chapters seems a bit long and tedious to watch let alone navigate.  Instead of thinking about the ATV4 at this point, I would say that you begin a project in iMovie and try to combine and edit your images.  Once you get the film edited, titled and is passed to your taste, I then worry about adding chapter markers.  You can always export the images in standard formats and use other software to make the last piece, if necessary.

I think the experience of editing will make you rethink a 3 hour movie.  I think that you will eventually consolidate your images into shorter individual movies who can and who would be much more manageable and funner to watch and the need for the chapters will be moot.

I played with iMovie and iDVD since they were created and have come to understand that less is indeed more when it comes to home movies.  When you actually edit any tips and tricks of grade b and capture the keyframes, it usually is pretty short and captures the moment without losing interest.

I really appreciate the real work now in a movie - not the interim and images but do the editing.

  • Why is it not my slide show Photoshop Elements 10?

I use a MacBook Pro with OSX 10.8.2 operating system with 8 GB of memory.  The version of 10 items is Version 10.0 (20110831.m.17215). There is no slide show in the mac, only Windows version. You have iphoto, imovie and iDVD, which can make slideshows eventually.

  • Burn (.mp4) iMovie to disc w/iDVD?

Created a movie w/iMovie - is 28 + min long - "exported 'Théâtre'" & created a file on hard drive... exported as a .mp4 file in "events movies/iMovie / * .mp4", however when I open iDVD (7.1.2) and try to create a new project, or Magic DVD... whatever... the .mp4 file appears not anywhere in my options. Can I just move it (drag & drop)? IDVD does support the .mp4 files? I'm so confused by this...  The file is "too long" (more than 15 minutes) to be supported in iCloud, so it will not appear in iDVD... is that correct? Why do not these programs get along perfectly...?

DVDs are standard definition so your HD file cannot be used.

Share file into iMovie and change the size of the 480 size and save it to your desktop. Use this file with iDVD.
