iMovie 11 and iDVD

I currently have 10 iMovie on my MacBook Pro retina.  I need to find another version of iMovie that lets create chapter/scene markers.

(1) is anyone can tell me what version I have to buy?

(2) it seems that I can't buy another version through the app store.  I guess that means I have to buy the CD and load another version on my Mac?

(3) if I do not load another version of iMovie, you can access the library, I created with iMovie 10 this new version?

(4) I want to burn DVDs, once I'm done he project.  Could someone tell me what version of iDVD, I need to be compatible with the version of iMovie, do you recommend for manufacturers of chapter?

Thank you...

1. ideally iMovie HD 6 (part out of iLife 6) which remains the best version.

2 correct. Try Amazon or eBay.

3 # there is no backward compatibility.

4 why are there no iDVD on my new Mac? How do I get it and how do I install it?

To burn a DVD with the latest version of iMovie's iDVD, you must export the movie using the export button and select 480 p as the size. Open iDVD and start a new project, and then drag this file in the sequence exported to iDVD menu window, avoiding the drop areas that see you.

  • DVD (and iDVD) die?  If so, what is the alternative?

    Hi all

I LOVE iMovie 6 (iMovie HD) and iDVD.  I was use to edit and produce my own films at home for years.  I like to create DVDs from pleasure and share with my family and my friends.

The problem is that it seems that the days of DVD are numbered...  New computers come with a DVD player, and most people do not use their DVD players a lot more thanks to streaming services such as NetFlix, Hulu, Amazon, etc...

So my question is this: a DVD player will soon be like old VCRs that some of us still have?  Large boxes, collector of dust, but we can not totally get rid of them because we have a few VHS tapes favorite that we "might" want to play some time?

If DVD and DVD players disappear...  What will I do with my movies at home?

I understand that I could post them on YouTube, but this seems crazy, because I have a lot of home movies!  In addition, I really like the features of a DVD as chapters and be able to create a DVD with several individual films on it.

What I would REALLY like is to be able to create a "DVD", but store it in a flash drive and then a program or something that allows you to my friends and family get the flash drive on their smart TV (or computers) and allow them to access the 'DVD' as if there were a real DVD with all the options of origin that would be available on a disc.

Someone you understand what I mean?  And if yes, does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for the future of the movies at home after the death of DVD have?

    Thank you!

  • iMovie starts and disappears instantly

computer iMac (2011) software is up to date. Secure boot is no solution.

    Pls someone help me

Try if the iMovie preferences will help the disconnection.

To delete the iMovie preferences leaving iMovie, runs, and then press and hold options and command key at the same time, at the launch of iMovie. Keep now pressed the buttons firmly until you see a command prompt to remove the preference. Confirm.

You have reset all the preferences that have been created from the preferences panel. iMovie will then begin with the Welcome screen.

When I had a similar problem, the only thing that helped was to create an iMovie library.  Probably a corrupted project in the iMovie current library prevented startup.   The problem persists, if you test different library in iMovie? You can create a library for testing.

  • iMovie not show iTunes in the drop-down list. IMovie 09 and El Capitan 10.11.5 running. This has happened only. Previously worked well.

Previously, I was able to access the library iTunes in iMovie 09 without problem but now when I click on the icon of music in iMovie to access my music all I see are pre-loaded sound effects and not the content of my iTunes library. I'm under El Capitan 10.11.5.

The latest version of iTunes 12.4.0 is not compatible with iMovie version 9 and will appear only in iMovie 10.1.x. You must export the music that you want to use in iMovie 9 and made drag in iMovie. Also, be aware that iMovie 9 is not compatible with El Capitan, so you could experience problems with frames display, black picture in the viewer etc.

  • Is it possible to run two iMovie 11 and 10 on the same iMac?

I have an older 24 "iMac with iMovie 11 and quite a few projects and movies finished.  I want to know if I update to iMovie 10 I'll be able to jump back between the two applications. Or will10 override 11?

    foxrock321

"I can jump back between two apps"

Yes, you do.  When you install 10 iMovie, iMovie 11 will be placed in its own folder in the Applications folder and will still be usable.  When you launch iMovie 10 it will you update your projects and events from iMovie 9.  (You don't have to do it immediately and can do so at a later date).  iMovie 10 will create a library package that will be used by iMovie 10 the entire edition.  Records of events and projects iMovie 11 will remain and can still be used with iMovie 11.

Of course all changes in a future version will not appear in the other, they will work on various issues, but gives you the opportunity to try iMovie 10 before committing to use iMovie 10.  It is best not to transfer projects that are in the middle of editing between versions as you can find that there are a few problems.  iMovie 10 is very different from earlier versions, so there is a bit of a learning curve.

Note: Avoid updating your operating system on El Capitan, until you came to iMovie 10 as earlier versions have problems running under El Capitan.

  • I have a project in iMovie HD6 and want export to Final Cut Pro.  I see that it is not possible from the previous questions, but is it possible that I could maybe create a dvd of the iMovie project and then who import in Final Cut?

I have a project in iMovie HD6 and want export to Final Cut Pro.  I see that it is not possible from the previous questions, but is it possible that I could maybe create a dvd of the iMovie project and then who import in Final Cut?  I just want to make a new trailer for the project.

What you suggest is possible but it takes software and third-party quality loss.

Instead, export a QuickTIme movie. If you have a choice of codecs, choose Apple Intermediate Codec. You can save it where you want it-maybe in the movies.

Then import the movie into FCP as a clip.

    Good luck.

  • GarageBand and idvd is el capitan after clean install missing

    Hello

After the new installation of OSX El Capitan, I'd install the gray DVD application, only GarageBand and iDVD.

The installer said that the programming block is not compatible with OSX version and it is better to give up.

    What should I do?

If the installer we will install, install both applications. Then update the Apple Support downloads (Apple - Support - downloads) page to the most recent versions.

You need GarageBand 6.0.5 (GarageBand 6.0.5) and iDVD 7.1.2.  (Download iDVD 7.1.2)   Both will run on El Capitan, but are are no longer officially supported.

If the installation program does not allow you to install, restore your backup applications. But you need to restore the library support files as well:

    • / Library/Application Support/GarageBand.
    • / Library/Audio/Apple Loops /.
    • I can't remember what iDVD may need as files support.

It is risky to do a clean install, if you are not sure, if your installers will be compatible with the system you are migrating to. A clean install is usually necessary if you have installed software that has damaged your system.

  • I bought a Macbook used, and now I can't update iMovie, iPhoto and iTunes without apple ID of the older owner how can I work around this?

    Hey everybody,

This is my first post. A couple of years, I bought a used Macbook. I never did update (it is so long and then I decide to Watch youtube videos... it is not used for work or school). So now, I've updated the Yosemite and I want to get everything updated and it requires that I put a password of the former owner apple ID to update iTunes, iPhoto and iMovie. How can I get around this without reformatting and losing thousands of photos and all my files.

    Thank you guys.

If you are the legal owner of the computer, but if the software you want is owned by another user is not yours. You cannot add any other purchases to your ID. You own, or that they are.

    backup with time machine

move all your data in the folder user to an external drive or a flash drive is formatted in a format not mac or by checking the box "ignore this volume permissions" in get info of this device.

do a clean install of the operating system

    create a new administrative account

    the Time Machine restore requests

transfer your data from external sites back to the new account.

  • Is it possible to copy an iMovie project, and I therefore two versions to work with?

I have an iMovie project finished with background music. I would like to have two versions - one with background music - and one without having to redo the entire film. I see "duplicate" as an option in the drop-down menu editing, but it is not an option to select. I also tried to copy the file from the Finder window, but I can't find the file of real project through the Finder window.

Work on iMac 10.9.5, iMovie 10.0.5.

    Thank you!

Hello, please check this thread: iMovie may not reproduce projects

  • El Capitan installed a few weeks ago.  Tried to open iMovie project and it does not show the photos in the Viewer window

After installing El Capitan and all it seems to also work well, I needed to update an iMovie project.  When I opened the project, I could not link to one of the photos in the Viewer window.  I also could not start a new project since photos that I let fall into the project would not show either.

    Use you pictures or iPhotos?

  • Is it possible to rotate the two iMovie 9 and 10 of the same MacBook Pro?

    Hi all

Please be gentle with me; I have only just joined the community.

I have an Apple MacBook Pro 2015 running OS X El Capitan; I used iMovie 10.1.1 and have already fallen on its limits.

I would like to export to Quicktime so I can have more control over the settings (fps / sound, etc.) of my videos created with 10.1.1 before posting on You Tube, but can do with 10.1.1. I would like to download 9.0.9 and have both versions on my Mac (I understand that you can have both on the same machine) and you can / export to QuickTime with 9.0.9 share.

I tried to download from the official website of Apple but encounter the following:

"This update has no need to be installed. A new version of iMovie is already installed"

It is no possible to navigate around this alert.

Is it possible to have the two 9 and 10 on the same Mac, iMovie as 9 has never been installed on it, and if yes, how does one?

    Thanks in advance!

    J0hnst0n00

What you propose, it's really not the way to accomplish what you want to do. iMovie 9.0.9 is not available on the App Store and can be purchased as part of the package iLife online from a third party like Amazon. Also, it is not completely compatible with El Capitan. Certainly not the right approach. I suggest you get MPEG Streamclip against 5 squared, which is downloadable for free. Share your iMovie project to file that will give you a MP4 file. Open in Streamclip and you can save as a Quicktime movie. It has a complete set of options, including the choice of codec, rate, etc. to image size.

  • Where can I view the tutorials mentioned in Iphoto and IDVD help. Need me Internet on the Apple site and they aren't there.

Whenever I'm using IPhoto or IDVD he mentions tutorials to watch. When I click on it need me on the Apple site and there is no mention of them on the site. How to see the tutorials?

Unfortunately, Apple stopped manufacturing and shipping iDVD 5 years ago and even with iPhoto, last year, it seems that these videos are deleted.

There are a load of stuff on the site like YouTube and Vimeo, so I would start there.

  • Videos of imported into iMovie iPhone and turn green.

When I import videos from iPhone5s in iMovie 11 on my Mac, they become green. This only started happening after I upgraded to El Capitan.

It doesn't, also with videos that I created using applications such as Cinematic. This happens ONLY when it's just the ordinary video camera on the iPhone.

How can I fix? I wish that I never upgraded to El Capitan. Everything is messed up.

iMovie 11 (version 9) is not completely compatible with El Capitan.  The only solution is to update iMovie 10.1.2.

  • iMovie to idvd

    Hi all

I use imovie 10.1.1 and idvd 7.1.2 on a Yosemite imac and my question is this:

I save my project in the file to my desktop, and then create a new project in idvd - no problem. However, when I burn the project to a dvd and play on a TV, the sound is good but the image is blurry and tries to keep the focus. Apparently not at what resolution I save my project of importance, the result is always the same. The film is fine on a computer and I expect a deterioration in the quality when converting to dvd, but surely he can be better than what I'm saying.

    What I am doing wrong?

It is the quality of the source footage, or am I missing something?

All the tips and ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks a bunch,

    Sean

You save the file to iMovie in prores format? If the quality is good in iMovie then sharing as prores should give better results in iDVD.
