Impact of the Migration of the VPC?

Hello

I prepare for the migration of a back to back inter-donnees Center, architecture of the VPC from 1 Gbps to 10 Gbps links.  Currently, the LAG is a 2 Gbps aggregate and I need it thrust to 20Gbps.  The connections between these two data centers use dark fiber and covers a single STP domain (for each VLAN associated).  I have attached a diagram which illustrates this topology in detail, including the spanning-tree Protocol (RSTP PV +) port of roles and roles of the VPC, etc..  The diagram also illustrates my proposed method of implementation.

I am very concerned by the type of convergence, I will experience this migration.  We have some very important systems that use this connectivity, and I can't afford a lot of impact.  The subtleties of transfer between VPC BPDU trunks (and how they differ from normal trunks) complicates things.

What are your thoughts on this plan?  What do you what the impact of this migration would be?  (I obviously requires a window accommodate such a change, but I would like to be able to prepare the company for what lies ahead.)

Thanks for your thoughts beforehand.  It is much appreciated.

Hi, Jeffrey.

The procedure you follow is correct and you do not feel a major impact on the network. Even at step 7, there will be no impact on the network.

Check compatibility with module 1 G & 10 G in same VDC or required of any OS upgrade before the plan of an activity or a migration.

Thank you

  • If I have not access to the disk partition hard base would impact on the installation of a complete operating system?

    Original title: TPG Server petition.

I wanted to know if I di not actually have access to the disk partition hard base would impact on the installation of a complete operating system of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit? Instead of having a computer with a complete installation of windows mine came with versions of WinPE OEM, NT and MCE. The GPT partition server that I can see is protected. Partial operating systems seem to be installed on network disk Volumes. I think that what I have to do down the disk hard real all delete and start again but I'm having a problem to see what is all about the drive through programs and remove what I find. He also seems to have a certain type of script hidden BIOS more wrinkles to retail and canceling all decisions on versions of the oem .cfg files. She configures and installs the server instead of windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit server software. The installation gives the highest administrative authority to the network administrators who I don't know and have never met and to manage my personal laptop. It creates a serious problem when I want to use my computer for one purpose and that some people I don't know and have never met want me to use my computer for something else.

  • Impact on the Thread.sleep processor

    Hi all

Someone knows what this impact of the Thread.sleep on cpu perfemance BB?

    Thank you

    UDI

Thread.Sleep simply takes the current thread on the Scheduler to send for a certain period of time.

I guess my best answer is that there no direct impact on the performance CPU - CPU runs all the time, at the same speed than it was before.

  • Features of the VPC integration no longer works when transferred to a new pc

    Hi guys.

I used VPC since it was released for years XP.  I am now on Windows 7 and run several XP/7 VPC.

A problem I meet always is when I update my host PC or operating system and the transfer on the VPC files it always seems to break the integration features for the user I created initially in the VPC.  So to say that I have a user named 'user' in the virtual XP computer when I first create through integration running and works.  Then I get a new laptop and transfer on my VPC include the VHD and VMC files and try running it, integration features will not start - still, it gives an error and says to restart the virtual computer.  I tried to uninstall and reinstall the tools of integration, but it makes no difference.

If I create a new user in the VPC and log with that integration works just find, but that means, I lose all my settings.  I if returns to modify the registry profile path so that it points to the initial directory of user profile that I receive all my sessions back but the problem with the integration starts do not.

I guess it has something to do with the credentials saved in the user profile.  I try to remove some of the more obvious things that does not.

Someone at - it a preview?

    Thank you

  • impact of the second leap 2015 to Application Java on Oracle in AIX

    Hello:

I would like to get advice more communities DBA for the "second leap in the year 2015 problem" for Java application on the 11.2.0.4 to the AIX operating system oracle database.  Our explicit questions are commissioned in Java application:

    1. any impact to Java time back and comparison?

    2. no impact in objects API JDBC timestamp?

So we should close application when the time approaches midnight, June 30, 2015 (for example: after 23:30 to June 30)?

Should we rebounce all application servers?

Or any code change must be made in any class of the Java API?

Or, no need for any action?

We have collected a SR of survey-3 for oracle support, they have not confirmed any need for action of RDBMS Oracle, quick to answer me on the impact to the question of Java.  Here is the link for 'Java API for Date class' to the Oracle's Web site:

    https://docs.oracle.com/javase/8/docs/api/java/util/Date.html

Someone at - it interest giving me advice?  Thank you very much!

    Well Yes, probably

but I guess that's a lot of work to put in place

and all this work will be to see what happens if something changes in this second 2 window...

I outweigh the cost against the risk

the risk being a transaction or a process that can potentially fail which explicitly check/use long?

    > the cost... depends on how many people next to you will work on this

the work and the cost of this work really deserve the conclusions you might be able to do?

  • How to evaluate the impact of the removal of the CPU?

One of my clients must remove three (of four) CPU in order to respect the license agreement with Oracle.

To avoid problems and also for any problems remove the CPU can bring the list, I want to do a study on the possible impacts, especially in the performances, which can cause the removal.

How can I get this information?

    >
I really want to do all the tests and get concrete data on what is the real impact. The customer uses about 20% of his salary (cpu + cpu wait) but I know that this does not mean that it can simply cut their treatment at 25% safely.

Yes, my client has a test environment, but does not have a database of the replay, so it is not possible to perform tests on the workload precisely.

How can I test without this tool, or at least the collection of data that will give me more specific that CWA information? It should open a SR on MOS?
    >
There is nothing to open an SR for.

The type of system change, you're talking about can only be tested on a system that best matches the production system. It has too many interactions between the CPU, memory, cache and external (disk) storage systems to be able to use a system of unpaired test and extrapolate the results.

You will have to do equivalent performance in order to obtain meaningful results, but these tests should be done on similar systems.

If I were you I would start by contacting your Oracle support person and identify the actual costs to continue to use your system for 4-processor and costs associated with maybe a 2 - cpu system.

Then I estimated costs of the work in question in any change of your test system to make it as nearly equivalent to the possible production system and add in the costs of running actually load tests and a fudge factor to take account possible downtime or a financial loss due to the degradation of the system if your estimates are erroneous.

You find it's cheaper and less risky, to pony just upward at least a 2-processor license. Who would buy at least your client enough comfort and time to design a more reliable long term solution.

  • impact on the performance of the vmware tools

We had discussions about the performance impact of the installation on a virtual machine vmware tools.

Are their any comparison between a system running vanilla versus a running vmware tools installed?

Obviously, I think that the system will go faster with vmware drivers installed.

Tools will only help IO performance (not counting usually do things like graphics and synchronization times work better).  If your virtual machine has no important networking or storage needs, then you probably don't need the tools.  I'm usually not worth.

If you want very good performance network without tools, make sure you use a device virtual e1000.  You can define ethernet0.virtualDev = "e1000".  This is not quite as good as real vmxnet (or new vmxnet3) but is much better than the default vlance. If you regularly push 1Gbit or more real traffic to your virtual machines, I would consider it.

Paravirtualized SCSI is fairly new, but since I have seen that there is a performance gain enough points of reference.  But even once, most likely you need not, unless you use a disc very heavy VM I/O, such as an Oracle database server.

If you consolidate underutilized physical machines who never use 100% CPU/network/disk, then Tools are probably a waste of time.  But if you want as close as possible to performance native and CPU utilization during intensive i/o, then Tools are worth.

As for Redhat don't support our drivers for VMware tools, I don't see why this would practically be a problem-if you have any question/crash that you think may be related to our tools, you can always uninstall and go back to where you were before.  If you have an unrelated question, and you are worried Redhat refused to help with tools, you can do the same thing.  So what's the harm in trying them?

^^ If you found this post useful, please consider buying me a beer some time

  • Risks and impacts on the changes in the physical and logical structures used in ODI

What are the risks and impacts on the changes in the physical and logical structures used in ODI?

I wonder what can be changed and the risks and impacts that may occur changes in the physical and logical structures used in projects of ODI?

You should not change the name of logic. Because in ODI, each model is connected to a logic diagram.
You shouldn't be changing technology too because that would need a change to all models and the KMs that have been used in the development of interfaces and procedures, etc.

Nothing under the physical schema can be changed for example. Connection, user, etc.
ODI uses the logical schema. And it matches the physical schema in the runtime using contexts.

It's a matter of enforcement, not a question of Oracle.

Oracle doesn't care what time it is, or when the weather changes. Your applications, however, can occupy. If you use SYSDATE to fill a line and depend on the date later to be unique or to indicate that the actual command lines have been inserted, changing the date on the server, in particular, he back off, could cause problems for your application. Your application has problems running when daylight saving time to save changes?
