Import a virtual appliance

Hello

How it is possible to import the virtual appliance for ESXi console not supported (ALT + F1)?

Tal

ESX does not understand OVF in the 3.x series, he needs one. VMX file. You will need to use the converter or VI Client to get this type of VM in. This will change after the 3.x series, if I'm not mistaken.

mapping (89-> 'other') which is in question.

In its final form ratified (FVO 1.0.0), ovf:id is supposed to be a literal mapping to the data in the CIM schema (CIM_OperatingSystem.mof: OSType: ValueMap *), where "89" is a distribution (Mandriva) Linux 32-bit versions of CIM schema where it is present (2.19.1 CIM schema 2.20.1, 2.21.0 and 2.22.0 experimental as examples). Red Hat Enterprise Linux x86_64 should be ovf:id 80 for a FVO 1.0.0 consistent descriptor.

OperatingSystemSection is a valid section for a VirtualSystem entity only.

HOWEVER... we don't talk about the OVF 0.9 (implementation of the VMware project).

The FVO management for VC 2.5 0.9 code was written prior to the ratification of the 2.19.1 CIM schema, and the OS Type mapping data are maintained as a set of private tables, where "89" is in fact mapped with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (3,4,5) x86_64 variants. For vSphere 4 (rewrite of this feature), data of the private table for OVF 0.9 has been preserved.

Somewhere along the line, '89' becomes 'other' rather than '-64' or ' otherlinux-64' or ' rhel5-64' (ordered under most preferred).»»»

  • Import of VIMA appliance for ESX 3.5: OVF file or Url

    Hello

I need to import the VIMA device (which allows you to centralize the management of scripts, installation of third-party components, commands, etc. on all your virtual infra).

I have 2 choices: import from a URL or more clasically, from a virtual computer import procedure

-First choice from URL: vmware site tells me this thing: "when you use the VI Client to import VIMA as virtual appliance, you"

Enter the following URL in the "Import from URL" field of the

    the Import Wizard: http://www.VMware.com/go/importvima/vima1.ovf "" "

... The problem is that I can't find anywhere this option to import from URL! any idea?

-second choice: more than clasically, a procedure of import of vm, vm OVF format

The problem here is that I'm not able to import the virtual machine files ovf (the VM converrter seems not to be able to see this file format (he sees only the format vmx etc.).)

any idea of any of my 2 questions?

    Hello

Converter VMware Update, you must have at least version 3.0.3

    From the release notes:

  • Virtual Appliance update hangs during the preparation stage of files

It is a continuation of my attempt to upgrade this thread saga:

I've been trying again to do the upgrade, but the last 2 attempts seem to stagnate outside in the scene where he says that she prepares the files, and mail is still delivered. Since it's the virtual appliance, I could make a snapshot before starting and then go back to it in case of failure, which I am very happy for.

This same problem happened to me on an update there are several years and Sonicwall tech support person he restarted just for me and then again upgrade - if I remember correctly - and then it worked. But when I tried, he got always outside. Is there anything else I can try?

Make sure you use the correct upgrade file.

The one that ends with. sh.

Make sure also that he has not been renamed or had added nothing to it when downloaded and saved.

The other that you download is for the deployment of a new virtual appliance.

If you are very low on disk space, you may need to look at what is using that space.

    What is the junkbox?

You probably want to prosecute and to talk to a technician.

If there is not enough free space, the upgrade process may fail.

  • Nexus 1010 Services Virtual Appliance and VN-link hardware

    All,

We deploy the Nexus 1010 Virtual Appliance service in order to use the analysis network (NAM) Module.  The 1010 necessary hosted of the MSM to deploy the 1000v switch into ESX.  We would also use VN-Link in the material by which we "get around" the virtual switch and use the 6120's for switching.  What I need to know, it's possible the 1010 always to analyze network traffic using hardware VN-link?  Hardware VN-link does not seem to need a VSM, so I think that the 1010 cannot monitor traffic because there is no "attach" to 1000v.  Anyone can shed some light on this?

    Kind regards

    Ken

    Ken

The NAM module present in the 1010 is not exclusive for Nexus1000v traffic.

Its there as part of a device which is be the VSM (1000v) and is set on its own.

If you look at the Nexus1000v, the VSM (which is the 1010 and holds the NAM in this case) is * not * part of the VM data path.

He's wanted for initial virtual port instantiations (veth) but after that the traffic does not go through it.

So to send data traffic VM to the NAM module for analysis, another mechanism (such as ERSPAN) is used to route the data traffic of the VM is to her.

    The Nexus 1000v support ERSPAN.

Same logic applies you have a NAM module-the 1000v can send traffic to it through ERSPAN.

Looking to VN-link in hardware - there a MSM which is the INSTITUTION itself.

In this case, the veth is on FI.

If the FI did support ERSPAN (which is not currently), you can use the same NAM module or any other module of NAM for sending traffic to it.

If this isn't a limitation of VN-link in hw methodology vs 1000v switching switching, but the fact that the FI does not yet support a mechanism of 'export '.

    I hope it helps

    Thank you

    -Matt

  • Is there a mechanism to prevent the Virtual Appliances Cisco to be cloned or exported in the form of the OVF/EGGS?

I am very confused why Cisco has no mechanism to prevent its virtual appliances are cloned or copied, for example I can install ACS 5.6, buy a license and deploy it, then I can export the virtual as appliance and the OVA file and deploy it elsewhere in other licenses without the need to buy another license, after the deployment of file EGGS I can even change the IP address , Default Gateway, NTP server or any settings that I want but license is valid in steel...

    Why the hell is happening?

Not a bug, it's how ACS works now, it's your ethical standards if you break this system of 'trust' that Cisco has implemented. It is actually as most of the Cisco product was working at the time, and some products are back for this model (ASA APEX ex.)

    Hi all

I have an external VCO device configuration and Vcac. I am under some test workflow to get the clones of a virtual machine, and then import it into Vcac so that its life cycle is managed. I'm at the stage where I just test of VCO with the out-of-box plugin workflows. I am able to run a workflow to modify the Vcac without any problem. When I run a workflow 'import Vcenter Virtual Machine' in VCO workflow is completed successfully, but the machine is never added to Vcac. I see these messages below in my journal Vcac. Where it says (my username), this is the value of the user of the identity when I run the workflow. I have admin tenant and tissue rights. What is the purpose of this user identity? I can leave the field blank and always get the same answer, he'll just be blank where is the user name.

  • vSphere Data Protection Virtual Appliance 6.0 does not install

I tried to install VDP 6.0 on ESXi 6.0 for the last day and I'm seriously about to launch smashing everything like the incredible hulk.

There are thousands of guides, I have used them in the yellow on bricks. It installs, but as soon as he told me to go to the party for the configuration it simply can. It will not resolve the host name to anything. It irritates me even typing the sentence. I have virtual appliances for the vRealize Operations Manager, vCenter Server, both work perfectly and have been set up in record time. I change IP address, virtual LANs, DNS, reinstalled 4 times entries. I did all humanly possible simple configurations and the INVESTIGATION period will not solve so I can set it up. I try to put in place so I can prove the case for the VSAN still further it and it's making it really, really hard.

Anyone having problems with the VDP 6.0 installs correctly?

I was running into this same issue. Try to open this Web page that is part of the same subnet.

Try another browser. I couldn't get it work well with Chrome, but with IE and Firefox.

  • Upgrade VMware Tools on Linux based virtual appliances

I just updated a cluster of 5.1 to 5.5, some of the VMS are virtual appliances based on Linux (most of them on CentOS) which are fairly locked down (no easy access console) critical how's this for upgrade these types of virtual machines to the latest version of VMware Tools? I know what you mean about the annoying notification bit... However, most of the providers WILL group and test vmtools as well as the Virtual Appliance that they release.

The answer isn't vmtools upgrade, it has upgraded the Virtual Appliances.
