Import slides/objects in Captivate 5

I just installed Captivate 5 on my Mac and can not for the life of find me a way to import slides/objects as I could in Captivate 4. I create tutorials for work and they are similar, except the bottom. I know its weird but we had sister 3 companies and the layout of the tools are the same, just the brand is different. So I used to just import the objects of a tutorial of 'master' in the other.

Did I miss something or was this deleted option in Captivate 5?

Hello JCHands,

To change the property for multiple instances of an object, we use Object Styles. For Ex: To change boxes highlight in all the slides, you can use the object styles, if you change a property in the Style of the object manager, it will change in all cases. Please let me know if it works for you.

Thank you

  • Import of objects/Slides

    Hello

    I'm looking to import slides 1 project to another. I have potentially up to 70 slides that I want to import. When I use the file > import > slides/objects work in Captivate 4, imports of slides, but preferences on objects such as buttons suspended not the same as the original slide. For example a button in the initial project has been programmed for success "Jump to slide" - when it is imported, it changes to continue. Any way to import the so that it retains the original preferences for a successful click.

    Peter

    Hello

    Indeed, you have to re-create the shares "jump to slide.

    Or if it is still possible: instead of importing 70 slides, why not start a copy of the original, so you will have the correct actions "jump". Delete what you don't need and add additional slides. Because you talk about 70 slides, may not be a large number of slides to add; It is not recommended to have CP-files with a lot more slides.

    Another possibility: Garland two files.

  • "Jump" to a specific slide in adobe captivate with edge animate.

    I want to "jump" to a specific slide in adobe captivate using interactions created in a file hosted from edge. Is someone able to help me with the javascript code needed to do this?

    So I don't know what was going on in April which did not possible but now 9 Captivate at least you can below to communicate a slide jump in Cape Town from the edge.

    I have an Edge file with a unique symbol to this topic called edgeButton which is just a simple rectangle with text on the subject. On the click to edgeButton event, I added the following script:

    window.parent.postMessage ('2', ' * ');

    Where the '2' is the second slide in a Captivate project. Here's a visual aid on board for the game to the top:

    On the side of the course of things, I set up a simple empty project with two slides on it and have disabled the PlayBar. On the first slide, I imported the OAM Edge file from above and on the second slide are just a simple text caption so that you know you have arrived at this slide after clicking on the "Click me" button in the animation of embedded edge. Here is a visual aid for the CAP put in place:

    Notice that there is a progress of the Actions run on the onEnter of the master slide. This is what looks like this Action:

    First, we add a Pause action so that the project does not automatically. Then we add a Javascript action to perform on the window 'active'. The script in the window Javascript crap is:

    window.addEventListener ("message", slideJump);

    function slideJump (event) {}

    Console.log (Event.Data);

    window.cpAPIInterface.gotoSlide (event.data);

    }

    If you use IE, change the first line of window.attachEvent ("onmessage", slideJump);

    What we have done here is connect Edge (that Cap incorporates in an iframe) with Cap using the postMessage function that allows document windows communicate with each other. Since the Edge object is inside the DOM of the CAP, the script of edge must publish its message to its parent window, which is the Cap document window. Add the listener for the event message to Cap on its current context of window and after receiving the message that we call the function slideJump and suss out the string that was sent to the wire using event.data, which in this case will be "2."

    We record the value in the console

    Console.log (Event.Data);

    just for sanity check our channel, then pass the string to the common JS Cape API interface

    window.cpAPIInterface.gotoSlide (event.data);

    the Cap project going to slide #2.

    If you're curious, here's a Stack Overflow write to postMessage . Communication between edge and Cap can work in two ways via postMessage, btw. Here is an example where we do something similar, except that we control an animation of edge of assets to Captivate with postMessage.

    I know that this response is a few months late to the party, but if all goes well it helps or helps someone else who might be looking for a response to a similar problem.

  • Imported slides are smaller than the originals

    I have problems with importing project file. When I import the Captivate slides in a project to another, the imported slide has been reduced in size and no longer fits. While I can adjust the objects, the background format cannot.

    They are not PowerPoint presentations, they are .cp files. Cannot find a solution or settings in Captivate to control this. Help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you very much for your efforts! You are right on it, Rick! You would not believe how much time I spent on this issue. I had to teach me this program and size/resolution is not something I picked up again.

    Do you have a recommendation for a good checklist or guide? We have site licenses and installation does not come with any instructions. Once again, thanks a lot.

  • Import library object

    Is it possible to import an object into the library without first adding the object on a slide - other than to wear it draws in another? For example, I want to import several images, created in PowerPoint, for use by a slide that I have not yet created. I need to paste each image to a slide that is existing in the library?

    Hi docedoc

    As long as the images exist somewhere on your disk, I think it's as simple as setting Captivate and Windows Explorer, you see both at the same time. Click and drag the images directly in the Captivate library. In some cases, you can also click and drag images to a page to display in a web browser to the library as well!

  • Importation of PowerPoint in Captivate 9 text

    From what I've read all the text imported from PowerPoint to Captivate is imported as an image.

    I tried to change the text in the 'Edit in Microsoft PowerPoint', but it always ends with an error message or the plant or hanging - just really disappointed.

    Most of the content we use for e-Learning is available in PowerPoint format and looks like I have to Cut ' paste (via Notepad) text of hundreds of slides — unless one of you smart guys can think otherwise?

    Made me regret picking Captivate over the history

    The good news is your assertion is not entirely correct.

    The bad news is: text on the slides ARE the IMAGES AS IMPORTED, after being merged with the background and imported as a background SWF CP with timing as indicated in the Panel animation in PPT.

    Possible workaround:

    Elsewhere in these forums, I did on how to extract graphic elements of a PPT by conversion to a PPTx and rename a zip and navigate through the folders of messages. You will be rewarded with graphics, you can drag the library of Cp and animate at will.

    Error deleting:

    Make sure that your operating system (Windows or Mac), an office / version PowerPoint and Cp are up-to-date.  But there are incompatible versions.

  • How can I have clearly seen keywords to objects in captivate 7?

    Hi, I wonder if it is possible to delete keywords, that I gave to objects in Captivate 7?

    When I work on leaves in Cp7, I have a naming convention that I use compared to the slide that I'm working on. For some reason any it don't let me use the same name, even if the object that previously had the name has been deleted. So I guess there must be a way to erase these names so that they can be used on different objects.

    Thank you

    Dan

    Sorry, it's one of the annoying things in Captivate.  No way to reuse a label that has already been used. But labels are case sensitive: have you tried to take advantage of a single character?

  • Is there a way to select the slide objects (images, buttons, etc.) in a list?

    Is there a way to select the slide objects (images, buttons, etc.) in a list so that it is easier to choose a specific item when you edit a slide Captivate? The same way as 3D drawing programs have lists of objects in the scene? I have several articles on top of the other, and it becomes a pain to select the correct element.

    The scenario presents items in a list. And clicking on the list allows you to select them. You can also hide, show, lock, and unlock it.

  • Positioning of the quiz slide objects

    I'm working on a project, Captivate 5, with many slides of quiz. The questionnaire slides have implemented project by someone else. I need to move different quiz slide objects (submit button "back" button "clear" key, the question text, review area, legend of suspicion, etc.).

    These items must be moved to the same position in all the slides in the quiz. I've been moving these items in one place and it's very tedious.

    Is it possible to create a style for all these objects move on all the slides in the questionnaire at the same time?

    Each of the items you mention on the quiz slide are a special type of object in Captivate.

    So although the object Styles does not allow you to specify the coordinates X and Y of an object, you CAN simply move one of these objects on a slide where you want them all and then go to the accordion in Position and size properties (accordion in Cp5.5 Transform) tab, look for the small dropdown in the upper right the accordion and choose the option apply to all items.

    The name is a bit misleading because it make you believe it will actually be the adjustment of positioning of each element in the project.  But the fact is that it it will only apply to items OF THE SAME TYPE OBJECT. So well that you would never do something like text captions in the main part of your project, you can do it safely for things like Submit, Clear, back, and buttons in quiz slides because all of them are in fact totally different types of objects to the extent of the Captivate is concerned.

    Note also the possibility to apply it to all elements of the same style.  This means that you can create custom styles and apply them to only certain buttons or legends, if you wanted to only CERTAIN elements positioned in a certain way, while all the other elements should keep their original position.

  • Import 3d objects in JavaFX

    For my project, I want to import a 3d object in JavaFX (can be recorded that many 3d files).

    What is the easiest way to import an object into my application?

    There is sample code in the javadoc for the api that is provided with the download.

    For example, to import an obj file:

    ObjModelImporter objImporter = new ObjModelImporter();

    try {}

    URL modelUrl = this.getClass().getResource("resources/MyModel.obj");

    objImporter.read (modelUrl);

    }

    {} catch (ImportException e)

    handle the exception

    }

    MeshView [] meshViews = objImporter.getImport ();

    You will need to use a plugin like Away3D using the API of the stage in flash 3D. These rquire a fairly extensive knowledge of flash (I know because I am a flash rookie and not yet move to the level where I can use them properly).

  • Import text objects, editing in artificial intelligence, by copying the interactions, etc.

    First of all, I would like to congratulate the Flash Catalyst team and the work that they have done so far. He is off to a very good start, and I can't wait for the finished product. A little history: I am currently working on the design of user interface for a software tool. I am running CF on Snow Leopard (MacBook Pro with 3 GHz/4 GB RAM). I was looking for something to take my design of the Illustrator, bring it to life in a working prototype, circulate comments and eventually pass on to developers to use as a reference (they write C++ in Visual Studio). I have just a few questions/requests/bugs to appear:

    (1) when I import text from Illustrator objects, Flash Catalyst is unable to maintain the base changes. Am I missing something? I read that unique features for CF gave priority, and this other standard options formatting in Illustrator or Photoshop would follow in future versions. Is - that one of these options (as well as stroke, masks of clipping, etc.) that will eventually be supported? Or do I have to submit it as a feature request?

    (2) in addition, it seems that the grid of the CF is not as many pixels as the grid to HAVE it. When I import small objects that correspond to the guides, they become blurred - it's like fitting 10 people on 9 chairs. The gaps and overlaps appear. This will be reconciled in later versions? Or do I have to submit a feature request for this?

    (3) when I select a group of objects and click Edit > edit in Adobe Illustrator CS4, a dialog box appears with the title "Edit in Adobe Illustrator. Here's an exclamation point in a bubble and text "Selection of editing in Adobe Illustrator... ». The problem is, the box never goes away, and nothing happens in Illustrator. Am I missing something? Is this a bug? This feature works for other people?

    (4) I read about this elsewhere, but I have not found a concise answer. CF does support the copy of component interactions? By example, if I copy and paste a custom component, or if I export a component library and then import it, it loses all of its defined interactions. Is there a work around? Or plans to implement?

    Hi Sponce,

    Thanks for the kind words. I'm going to dive into your questions:

    (1) catalyst should maintain base shifts to import. Our goal is a complete fidelity with the original work. If you publish a file HAVE that has this issue, I can file a bug (unless it's been fixed since Beta 2, which is quite possible - we made many improvements to import fidelity).

    Also, I wanted to clarify the thing you discover more complex "formatting options". WHEN you import the PS, or FXG, the work should appear exactly as it did in the original tool (modulo very small differences). However, catalyst can not supported the MODIFICATION of more sophisticated objects or properties (masks, complex gradients, paths, HAVE mesh warp, etc.).  This is where 'Edit in Illustrator': you can pop at work in to, make changes there and then back to FC.

    (2) this can happen in some cases:

    (A) the reader Flash has a rendering engine of different text that HAVE, this text may look different. If it is critical for you, you can choose to convert the text to outlines when importing text.

    (B) alignment of the pixels: I supports the investment object subpixel very accurate because it can produce for print (where pixel doesn't really count). However, these objects blurry when displayed on a computer screen (where import pixels). You can see this simply by drawing a rectangle in artificial intelligence at 100% zoom. Objects in CF should be aligned with the boundaries of the pixels because it generates exclusively to a computer monitor. When you import and manipulate the work CF it automatically snaps to pixel boundaries. That's good because your fuzzy rectangle will become blurred, but it is not very good because small tedious objects seem not quite right.

    (3) your work should appear in Illustrator, ready to be edited. In Beta 2, it is only supported with Illustrator CS4. What version do you have?

    (4) it is not supported, and we do not have a proposal or plans to support. You must submit your proposal on the ideas site: http://ideas.adobe.com/labs

    (5) is not supported, but it is a good idea, so you should put it on the site of ideas. You can encode up to this behavior in Flash Builder, but you'll have to dive into coding.
