Importing Photos in LR3

Is it possible to import photos from a card that fall in an existing... without LR folder creates a NEW folder?  I can't find an option to import where LR does not create a new folder.

Thank you

Mark

Canon 40 d, Windows 7, LR3

Mark,

The problem is that you have set "By Date" in the field "organization." You need to put in "in a folder.

I know it's a bit missleading as this setting has an effect, even if 'in the subfolder"is not checked, but that's the way it is...

  • LR3 will automatically transfers the keywords of photos created in PSE when importing photos

    Hi eveeryone.

I'm new to LR3. I would like to import all of my photos in LR3 and all of these photos have keywords tags that have been made to post-secondary studies. LR3 will automatically import the key word tags too? If this is not the case, how would I do?

    Very much appreciate your comments.

The answer is 'NO', because the import is the WRONG thing to do here.

The procedure is to have the LR3 to update your PSE catalog. In Lightroom, file-> upgrade of PSE catalog. All your tags will appear in Lightroom as keywords. Couldn't be simpler!

  • Mobile photos of LR3 on a LR CC PC on a mac

I backed up my Lightroom 3 catalog on an external hard drive passport.  Sometimes, I need to work on the pictures of this catalogue on my new Macbook Pro on LR CC.  If I try to access photos on the Passport, they show already imported (not true).  In addition, even if I could, the changes I had made on the PC would be lost.  How can I access photos of the catalog of PC on mac?  I would like to be able to avoid importing all photos on the hard drive to the MAC, but I will if I have to.  I guess that the problem lies in the MAC vs PC formatting but I don't know how to get around that.  Thank you!

Please read the link provided by Tanuj

I would like to be able to avoid importing all photos on the hard drive to the MAC, but I will if I have to.

I would add that import photos would be completely wrong in this case and would make your life miserable. Do not import!

The best solution (in my opinion) is to install Lightroom CC on both computers and then spend (not import) the LR3 catalogue a catalogue LR CC. To do this, you open Lightroom CC and then use the file menu command-> open the catalog and point to your Lightroom 3 catalog.

Now... pop quiz... you must import photos or not?

  • LR 4 and 4.1 can't create new folder manually when importing photos

    Windows 64, i7, 12 GB of RAM

I don't seem able to create a new folder manually when importing photos.  It still works fine on the same PC with LR3.6.  Anyone else seeing this?  Thank you.

Yes, I'm on Win7. I can get the result that you specify.  I right click on the folder name in LR and then choose "Create a new folder."  This shows the dialog box windows.  If I then right-click in the right pane and select new > folder, I get a new folder empty in the right pane and can type the name, then select this folder.  If, instead of click with the right button in the right pane, I try to type the name of the new folder in the bottom of the dialog box where it says "file:" then I get this error message. That's what I mean by saying that the process has changed slightly in the LR4.

  • How can I find my missing photos in LR3 MAC?

Imported files MAC LR3 and worked very well this day there, but now the photos are either totally absent or the file is 'offline or missing.  Help!

You wrote: "I still can't find the missing files.»

Do you mean you can't find in Lr - or you cannot find them in the Mac Finder?

If you cannot find in the Mac Finder while they are not on your computer.

If you find in the Mac Finder then it's just a matter of pointing Lr to the right folder.

Get there by selecting "Find lack folder and navigate to the location where you found the file in the Mac Finder."

  • Can not see tree structure of file to import files in LR3

I was importing files in LR3 for a few weeks without any difficulty.  Today, when you try to import files I see more files in the pictures folder tree, but the structure of the hard disk (C: and including the following folders: Legacy, Perflogs, Program Files, Program Files (x 86) and Windows.)  How can I see the photo folder structure in the Source Panel?  I have already uninstalled and reinstalled LR3.

The images of you folder is located in the users folder that appears marked as hidden. Lightroom does not show the files hidden in the tree. You see the users folder in the Explorer? It is in the root of the C: drive. If it is displayed in the Explorer, he's looking for semi-transparent?

  • Importing photos is no longer imports of Canon EOS 20 d

Since the update to IOS 10/Sierra, the Photos is not automatically import photos from my camera. Previously, I would like to connect the camera to the USB port, open iPhotos and he would start the import process. I've rechecked through Capture of Image and importer self that my camera is recognized as a device. I have started and restarted several times; and double checked that my camera (Canon EOS 20 d) is compatible with the Sierra. My camera always does not appear as a device in Photos. Help, please!

  • Importing Photos lack a lot of photos

When I plug my iphone to my MacBook Pro, the photos app appears to import the photos. Great, that's what I want! I want just all the picture files in a folder where I can connect to Picasa, which is at the same time a place I have backup source, etc. Duplicates doesn't bother me, but I don't want to miss anything.

But when I go to the tab import, it shows my iphone but there are only 42 'News Photos' to import. My phone lists 610 photos under "All Photos". I would like to re - import all these to make sure that I don't miss any. I know that some are duplicates, I will sort that out later with other techniques. But I can not find only these 42 random photos that are new... where di the rest to go! The mac is restarted and phone has not changed anything.

Where I have pictures imported from this phone previously is a complicated story. Probably I was confused at one point and abandoned a partial import, etc. (so many apps to try do.. photos, iphoto, sometimes iCloud, sometimes AirDrop,... oh my). And I certainly imported to a PC several times to clear the phone memory that I can't do it this time because of access restrictions on this computer. So that part is my fault.

Is there a way to 'reset' what pictures are seen on this phone like new by Photos app? I google endlessly for this solution, which only seems to show solutions for the PC where I delete the .db files. But no solution, I saw worked for the mac and the memory becomes full.

Hello and welcome to Apple support communities, PumpkinInPortland.

If I understand your post right, you are wanting to do a new import all photos on your iPhone to your Mac, so that even the pictures that have already been imported are imported again. I certainly understand wanting to make sure that you do not miss the photos and I'm happy to help you to do.

It is not a way to reset the photos the Photos app sees it as 'new', but there is another way to get all your imported photos. The best way to do it is with Capture of Image instead of the Photos app. Take a look at the steps on how to do that here: Capture of Image: transfer images and other elements of your device after you have successfully imported your pictures from your iPhone, if you want to move to Photos on your Mac, you can do so by dragging the folder of photos from the Finder application to the pictures window.

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

    Take care.

  • CANNOT IMPORT PHOTOS/CONNECT TO MAC AFTER UPDATE IOS10

Try to import photos or videos of my iphone 6 s to my macbook pro 09. Before the update to ios10, I had no problem doing this. I have chosen to APPROVE this computer, when the notification appears on my phone. Now, here's the problem, I get this message on my computer when you open iphoto and image capture. "Pictures on the Filmstrip on"iPhone"cannot be imported because the iPhone is locked with a password or read." I don't have a password well. I even created a new phone password just to see if it would work, and he never even gave me a chance to enter one. Tried to turn the phone on/off switch, unplug the power cord, reopening of image capture programs. Do not know what is happening since this new update to ios. Any ideas?

Ditto for me, picture see the iphone IOS 10.0.0.1 as a player and there display "no name". Any help?

  • Imported photos display is no longer in 'Photo', is this a library problem?

My imported photos and videos are in the library, but not visible in Photo mode, from a few months ago.  They are all visible in the "all photos" album, however.  How can I fix it?

The most common cause is bad dates on photos so you seek all simply in the right place - right click in all the Photos (which are sorted by date added) and select slide show in the command of moments - should open the window of moments with your displayed photos and then you will see the date of issue

Moments if not open with your photo showing then you have a corrupted - library save your photo library and press the command and option keys while launching Photos and repair yoru database - Note This will trigger a new total to iCloud library download if you use

  • iTunes crashes on importing photos (step 7 of 8)

    Hello

Fresh installation of El Capitan on a MacMini 2009. end migration Assistant has any more nicely (the first MacBook 2008 under Snow Leopard) thank you very much, Tim Cook.

I tried to sync my iPhone 5s (9.3.4) and she does it very well the first time. I noticed an album in importing photos has not been selected, so I selected the album and reconnected to synchronize again. Hours, literally hours pass and the synchronization continues. Stuck at step 7 of 8.

I tried force quit, nada, vestiges of the State.

I tried to stop the synchronization in the settings on the iPhone and reconnect, nada, condition remains.

I am tired of everything put out in Photos and on the iPhone iCloud releated photos and photo sharing, nada condition remains.

My first choice is to let the iPhone be connected and synchronization during the night.

    Any other suggestions?

  • photos from iPhoto import photos

Upgrade to El Capitan, all of my photos in iPhoto doesn't import it to Photos (only a 70 random 16 000 imported photos) and I can't seem to import manually as 'iPhoto Library' is grayed out when I try to import. All photos (16,000) are saved on an external drive. How can I get the Photo to read photos iPhoto from the external drive?

You can have more than one iPhoto library. Normally, when the photo is launched, it assumes that your main iPhoto library is on the boot volume, in your pictures folder.

Check the size of the PhotosLibrary file created in your users > your account > pictures folder. Move it out (you can remove it later). Pictures of launch with down option, select the main iPhoto library to migrate. Give it time, it is a slow process.

  • import photos

    Hey,.

I don't know why I feel always stupid when you work with Mac, it is supposed to be so simple! So I tried to import my photos from my iphone to my macbook. AirDrop does not work, I tried everything and apparently this is a problem common on macbooks. So I tried with icloud that does not work either. I imported the photos to icloud, but on my mac I don't have access to them. then I tried to connect two Bluetooth devices, but they do not match. What else I can try or I'm really too stupid to understand these programs?

    Thank you!

    What model of MacBook Pro?

Which version of OSX on a MacBook Pro?

With an application, an iPod cannot usefully pair via BT with a computer.
