Impossible to delete standby ESX server all Virtual Center

Hello!

Anyone know how to remove a 'death' of Virtual Center ESX Server? The server is in standby when he "died".

  • Training of ESX 3.0/Virtual Center 2.0 server...

    Hi all

It is: I attended two classes in 2007 on ESX 3.0/Virtual Center 2.0. Which version of the test secure Channel can I take or what I have to go through training again? I am currently working with VI3.5 using all the features of the product. Thanks in advance!

If you feel confident that you know enough about ESX 3.5 a new class is unnecessary.  There is no much revelation from 3.0 to 3.5.  So, you can take the VCP test for 3.5.   Now from 3.0 to 4.0, I would say that taking the class, but you should be fine...

  • customization error "Sysprep is not installed on the server of virtual center for the model you have selected.

    Hi all

Need your help with customization of the script here is the steps I've done so far

1.I have created a virtual machine with Windows XP Professional as the operating system installed VMware Tools / VMware view agent then I added the virtual machine to the domain and created a template called (winXPtemp)

    2. According to article http://www.VMware.com/support/VC/doc/c12prepcustomize.html#1030366 I downloaded the Q257813_w2k_spl_x86_en.exe and the same extract. I force my VC server find the path as mentioned in article

C:\ [VirtualCenter_installation_directory]\resources\windows\sysprep\1.1 so copied the files extracted to the location C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\VirtualCenter Server\resources\windows

3 then I copied and extracted the file \support\tools\deploy.cab on the windows 2003 CD and copied the sysprep files extracted to the following location on the VC Server

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\VMware\VMware VirtualCenter\sysprep\xp

    4. After you have done that, I've created a script under customization script called "testsript".

5 Note until now I have not created a pool of resources as requires it the deployment of only 4 VM on an ESX Server with script customization. The data store for the virtual machine is a 100 GB LUN from a 2050 of FAS of NetApp iSCSI

    6. now when I create an automatic pool when I select the script that I created in step 4, and then click then it gives me an error "Sysprep is not installed on the server of virtual center for the model you have selected. Sysprep on the server installation.

    Troubleshooting done by me:

I have readded the VC Server Manager to view but it force worked

Thanks in advance for your help

    Kind regards

    v

If I remember correctly the location for XP should go to: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\VMware\VMware VirtualCenter\sysprep\xp

For XP SP2 Sysprep files can be downloaded from the Microsoft site and are called

    Windows XP SP2 deployment tools

The article you linked was VirtualCenter 1.x. Since you have given a version number of VirtualCenter I assumed it was 2.x or later.

  • Cannot perform any action on an ESX connected to Virtual Center Server

    Hi all

I have an ESX Server which shows connected to my Virtual Center. I can access the virtual machines that are on the ESX of Virtual Center Server. However, none of the commands are available for the ESX Server when selected or by using a right-click on the mouse when the server is selected. All that shows is the summary of the report and the performance report all others are gray.

I stop all VMs and you restart the ESX Server. Always displays the same State. Can someone provide suggestions about where to look to fix this problem.

    Thank you

    Robert

I would check your permissions - you are not these permissions at the host level.

  • Error al licenciar esx 3.5, virtual center of the host y

    Hola

I have 2 esx 3.5 servidores y Virtual Centre of the United Nations.

In each of esx, Guerra el .lic (single host) he is ok, appears as licenciado (es standard esx).

Instalo UN virtual center y al instalar doy el fichero .lic Québec he generated in the web of vmware (centralized).

VOY a cada esx y pongo ip del Centre virtual donde pone 'use license server', me dice algo asi como no hay to licenses validad if the doy tr o no, the digo if, pero no licenciado appears.

He desinstaldo y vuelto a instalar el servidor of licenses, releido el archivo .lic... no hay manera.

También al of ido he virtual center a "administration", he marcado "change host...". ', Center Management Server virtual y ahi, pero nada. If Quebec me appears ahi al dar al oton "administration", then b has the 'licenses' las features pestana y en 'virtual center foundation manager' in 'cost' pone server 1, remaining pone cero, y pone total 1.

El host appears como desconectado al anadirlo al virtual Center try not there as none is can por las licenses.

    Saludos

If el otro no you already licenciar lo're porque el vCenter no tiene fired para asignarle. Of how many CPUs are you fired? How many has released there? How many you is? ESTOS datos los puedes ver en el servidor of licenses y con the utility of licenses.

  • Accident of ESX 3.5 but virtual Center did not perform vMotion on virtual machines

    Hello

We have 3 ESX servers on Virtual Center 2.5. One of the ESX Server suddenly restarted due to hardware failure. There were 5 virtual machines on this particular ESX host.

When we check all the VMs who resided on the ESX host touched, he has just restarted and didn't vMotion for the rest ESX servers

The question is why don't the vMotion VMs to the rest of the other servers. The rest of the ESX host have more than enough CPU and RAM to accommodate all 5VMs

My understanding of vMotion would be when an ESX host is down, all the virtual machines will be migrated to other ESX hosts on the cluster.

When an ESX host is down, the migration of all virtual machines to other ESX hosts in the cluster is not a VMotion functionality, but this is a feature of VMware HA. The vSphere availability Guide:

"VMware HA offering high availability for virtual machines by pooling their and the hosts they reside on in a cluster." Cluster hosts are monitored and in case of failure, the virtual machines on a failed host are restarted on alternate hosts. »

Therefore, enable HA of the cluster to achieve the desired result.

  • ESX Server does not respond in VCenter

Hello everyone, I am looking for some help with a problem I have right now.  I was able to find a similar thread, but it was not resolved, so here are my symptoms.

I have a 3.5 running ESX Server.  In VCenter, the system shows callous and all of the associated virtual machines are disconnected.  However, ESX server and virtual machines are running correctly.  If I try to use the VI Client to connect directly to the ESX box, you receive an error "server has taken too much time to react."  Interface Web doesn't either.  However, the SSL connection via port 22 works fine and I am able to work with the system.  I had this problem before and a reboot of the server ESX solved the problem, but which forced me to all virtual machines down and then reboot ESX.  The ESX box shows no errors when I have ILO on the console.

Can anyone give me any help is appreciated.

Have you tried to restart the management agent with

    [for service mgmt-vmware restart

    on the console?

    Kind regards

  • List of all virtual machines running on a local storage

Y at - it a script when it is applied to the virtual center would show the virtual machines that are running on a local storage of an esx host.  We have about 40 esx running on virtual Center host and there are some VM running on local storage that we have to go offshore, but I need a list of these virtual machines.

If it helps the naming convention for the local storage data store is "exhostname_local".  This is the norm for all hosts.

    Any Advisor.

    It must be Friday

    Try it like this

    Get-Datastore local* | where {$_.ExtensionData.Host.Count -eq 1} | Get-VM -Location $_ | Select Name

  • VMWare Virtual Center 2.5 update 3 management ESX v3.5 Update 4 and 5 guests

I'm doing an audit of versions of VMWare and it seems that our cluster hosts are running a later update version as the virtual center server. Virtual Center 2.5 update 3 management ESX v3.5 Update 4 and 5 guests.

Does anyone know if this causes problems. This has been the case since before I started and there seems to be no negative effect I see.

Don't want to update virtual center update 5 as we plan to upgrade to vSphere, shortly.

you are in a supported configuration, so you should be fine

    http://www.VMware.com/PDF/vSphere4/R40/vsp_compatibility_matrix.PDF

However, with more agents on new hosts, you can see some are disconnects/no response errors for your hosts in vCenter.  In general, I would like to have my instance of vCenter to or superior to the latest version of ESX.

  • ESX 3.5 U3 with Virtual Center Update 4 questions?

Does anyone know of any problems with combining ESX U3 with Virtual Center U4?

    Is - this bad idea?

I'm getting errors when the network configuration "request failed because the remote server has taken too long to respond" I don't know if its network related or associated with mixing ESX 3.5 U3 with VCenter U4.

    Ideas or comments please.

    Thank you

Yes, this client was running ESX 3.5 U3 with VC 2.5 U4.  Only, they began their upgrade to vSphere, but prior had run several host ESX 3.5 U3 with VC 2.5 U4 for more than 6 months without any problem you describe.

  • Move one virtual Center Server to another host

I currently have a small standalone ESX server running some virtual machines in a remote office. It is connected to its own Virtual Center Server. This virtual Center Server has apparently been abandoned and is no longer in service. I wanted to add the stand-alone host on our server main virtual Center, but did not know if something had to be done before hand (move files lciensing, etc.) to simply add the host directly in the datacenter through VIC.

    Thank you

If you have available licenses in your current environment, you can simply add the host to the.  When attempting to add a host, you will receive a message saying: it is run by another instance of vCenter you want to add it, just say Yes.

If you get to the other instance of vCenter to disconnect the host, then your VM can drop.

But if you have your main site to the remote connectivity, you should have problems addding it if licenses are available.

  • Migrate a physical virtual centre to the virtual center unit?

    Hi guys,.

Hope you can help or point me in the right direction. We have currently a physical Server running Virtual Center 4.1 (standard version of sql on the same box). I'd like to migrate this form and start using the new VMware vCenter Server Appliance 5.1. Is there for me to migrate / upgrade all 4.1 physics Unit 5.1?

I need to first update the 5.1 physical and would do them a kind of migration.

    Any help is greatly appreciated?

    Thank you

    Ryan

Will fundamentally the vCenter device requires a new installation. I'm not aware of a way to migrate existing SQL data.

BTW. are you aware of the current of the device, as 5hosts/50VMs limits, no Manager Update...?

  • Virtual Center upgrade to 5.0 U1 4.1 on the new machine

    Hello

I don't see that this scenario in the upgrade documentation so wanted to clarify.

Have currently Windows 2008 R2 server running Virtual Center 4.1 U1 and database resides on separate SQL 2008 Server.  Virtual Center Server has been improved 3 times now so eager to make a new update for Virtual Center 5.0 on a new server by keeping the existing database.  The data migration tool cannot be used because it is only for the migration of versions prior to version 4.1 U1.

    I'll do the following:

Install a new server with new name/ip.

Install Virtual Center 5.0 and create the DNS pointing to the existing SQL 4.1 database.

-At this point is it ask me to upgrade the database?

I have problems in doing this?  Will all of my existing hosts show as offline and must be reconnected and updated Virtual Center new server SSL certificates?

    Thanks in advance.

    Tony

Yes, there will be an upgrade of the DB schema, so make sure you have a good backup. Make sure that you set up the system DSN from 64 bits to the correct address and test your connection to the DB before upgrading.  Also, make sure you have dbo on the VCDB and MSDB

I have problems in doing this?  Will all of my existing hosts show as offline and must be reconnected and updated Virtual Center new server SSL certificates?

If you change the host name and IP, your hosts may be in offline / not responding.  If you do a right click on it and "connect", they should return to the inventory very well.  (you may be prompted for credentials to the root)

  • Need help or ideas to ensure everything is configured correctly in Virtual Center

I built my ESX hosts, installed Virtual Center and now I'm going to add my hosts and create my vSwitches... etc.  I also configured HA and DRS.

What else should I look out or ensure is configured correctly within my environment? I want to just make sure I cover all my base before you deploy a virtual computer.

If you are unsure of the compatible CPU vmotion you can consider activation EVC on the Cluster, even if it is empty.
