  I am not an experienced or professional Illustrator user but have created several PDF files up to a couple of weeks without problem.

  Today I am trying to export or print to PDF and the PDF option disappeared for export and save dialog boxes. The only option for printing is Adobe PostScript file (I have no printer connected). The option is not available in any of my files HAVE. Finally, I printed 3 weeks ago and had no problem. I don't think I made fundamental changes to the configuration of the Illustrator.

  I'm using CS5 15.0.0 on a MacBook Pro under OS Lion 10.7.2.

  I'm sure it's an easy fix.

  If you have not Acrobat is installed, then clearly, it's a matter of Apple having nothing to do with any "setting Adobe." There is nothing we can do at Adobe to help you. Sorry!

  I export from InDesign to PDF page is larger in the PDF file, and others I exported. This is because of the present PDF? One of the project managers is not able to print on 8.5 "x 11", but the InDesign document presets are the same as before. I wish I could download PDFs to show, but the newly exported PDF is greater than the version I created a month ago. I created a PDF file and the newly updated PDF file is almost un.5 inch wider with the export presets even. Any thoughts?

  I suspect the project manager has his copy of Reader/Acrobat simply set to print full size, rather than "Worthy" (assuming that the size of InDesign pages is truly 8.5 x 11).

  This has nothing to do with export presets. How did determine you this difference of half inch?

  Years, I "printed in pdf format" via InDesign and had no problem with the quality/accuracy of my output. As I passed some of the techniques advanced such that knocking out objects with transparency and alpha channels, I noticed that more and more, my output is wrong. So I reworked my files in Photoshop so that the shots of grace and transparency occurs there and placed in ID work bitmap.

  Recently, I was having a problem of display of a file and sort of stumbled on export to PDF. When I tried it, my perfectly output file! I am pleased to say the least.

  What I was asking, is what is the difference between the two? I wonder now why there is even an option print to PDF? If I were Adobe, I'd a sharper distinction between the two and the advantages of both.

  Print to PDF is a shortcut for printing to a file postcsript and distillation. Export use any postscript, but use instead an internal PDF library. Supports color management, interactivity, layering, transparency and other advanced features not available to the general public in distilled PDF PDF exported and is the recommended method to produce PDFS from code.

  I can't print to PDF without first using PS. Printing on PDF file is required for brochure printing and printing separations, among other things. It will not directly print to the document PDF without first producing a PS file. I then convert the PS file into pdf.  Printing to PDF works great in CS3. Someone has an answer to this?

  Earlier, I was able to create a new PDF printer using the add printer Windows Wizard. I used the same original Adobe PDF port when he asked (there was only one in the list that resembled a PDF port, so it was not hard to find.)   Don't know exactly, but if you have Pages for iPad you can export a file as a PDF and then use it as you wish. That would help?

  I scanned a file and imported it with clearscan OCR. Everything is perfect: the text when they are copied exactly is displayed.

  If I now print this PDF in adobe pdf format (I have the page scaling) everything looks perfect, but when I copy the text I get only text encrypted for most of the rectangles.

  I think you may be stuck. You can not expect to redistill clearscan OCR without bad things happening to the text: in general, never redistill (it became impossible on the Mac, but they have not closed this gap in Windows).
