Impossible to go from Home Basic to Home Premium.

I bought an upgrade to home premium awhile back, installed and it was working fine. Well my computer began to crash and I had to install the recovery disk. When I went to basic to home premium, I had this message pop up. The upgrade cannot be started. To upgrade, cancel the installation and then select upgrade to a version of Windowsthat is more recentthan, the VersionYesYou are running. I then go into system properties and see that I am running basic family.

On your installed operating system Service Pack level cannot be greater than what is on the disk to upgrade.

Click Start > right click on computer > properties > system > it will tell you which SP you have install.

  • After full system recovery my Win7 has been changed from Home Premium Basic Home Edition

    Hello

    I have HP Pavilion dm3-2015er with pre-intalled:

Winwows 7 Home Prem OA CIS and GE

    HP

Several days ago, I bought Windows 8 Pro (Windows upgrade offer). I have upgrade.

WIN8 Pro has started, the only problem was that I got no driver for my AMD (HD4225 & HD5430) graphics card.

I tried catalyst 12.10 Win8 x 64, and after restarting Windows is crashed. Windows 8 recovery did not work.

So, I made the recovery of HP Windows 7 since the recovery HARD drive partition.

During the recovery process, I was very surprised than my recovered Windows 7 is family basic without support Windows Aero.

What can we do in this situation?

I also tried to upgrade to Windows 8 once more. The same problem occurred: after catalyst 12.10 installation Windows 8 crashed, I got Windows 7 HARD disk partition, and now I have Windows 7 Home Basic Edition.

    That's happened?

    Kyle_W wrote:

    That is right.

I upgraded using the product key that is marked at the bottom of the laptop via Windows Anytime Upgrade.

  • Qosmio G50-115: how to upgrade from Home Premium to Ultimate

    Dear friends,

I am a teacher in a local college. We decided to buy the Qosmio (device name: G50-115, device number: PQG55E-01J00GEN, product group: QOSMIO) for our Department. We bought two so far for the trial. But my job is now on the sword.

These laptops are pre-intstalled with Vista Home Premium SP1 and we need to upgrade these to Vista Ultimate. We have a DVD of Windows Vista Ultimate, but it's without SP1 on it. When I run and update, it rejects the upgrade because the installed version is newer than the version I have. Microsoft is no help, they said that you bought...

Microsoft advised me to uninstall SP1, but I can't do that because there is no option in Control Panel to do this.

If I install clean I won't lose nice software from Toshiba. I did a recovery disk, but do not think that I will be able to install this software. If I can download all necessary drivers, but I am interested in utilities/software installed at the factory.

Would you please advise me what to do. Y did he we can get all the software of Qosmio on a DVD for instalation.

    Kind regards

    Dr. Sophie

You should try to wake SP1 to the drive ultimate because I think that the problem is due the SP1 is already installed, but not on the final drive.

You can do this with vLite: http://www.vlite.net/.
With this tool, you can create your own with integrated service packs, patches, driver installation disc and more.

Try this, it only takes a few minutes.

  • BSOD after windows upgrade from Home Premium to Vista Ultimate

    Hello

I have a brand new A200 - TH1 comes with Vista Home Premium installed Edition. I had to install Vista Ultimate to get the job in Sql Server 2005 Reporting SERVICES. Upgrade Windows at all times managed without problems or errors. The problem is that my system gets now BSOD about 20 times a day. Its extremely unstable. I have restored to Home Premium using recovery disks, everything is stable until I apply vista ultimate improvement. I tried the upgrade without having to install any other software, shortly after my system crashes with BSOD 0 x 00008086. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Vista Business Edition would be the surface, but there is no upgrade for this. I am very confused as to why a skeleton of the system from vista home premium to vista ultimate would cause my sysytem so unstable... Hello Jack

I imagine that you have these problems, because a few months ago, I read an interesting article on this update and it was written on possible problems after the upgrade procedure. I installed a few times Ultimate on my A200 but as new installation.

What you can try is to install the OS by using recovery media, delete all the stuff designed by Toshiba, including all other software like Norton. After doing this upgrade brand.

When the upgrade is complete, install all the stuff of Toshiba order following facilities described in the instructions for Installations. I A200 with Vista Home Premium but I don't have a media Anytime upgrade and cannot test with my Satellite.

  • Impossible to activate Win7 Home Premium with key valid after repair

Pavilion P6210f motherboard has been replaced due to the failure of the sata controller. Once the motherboard has been replaced, the BONE started to make a notification that "windows is not genuine." Tried the system restore in time earlier but the error persists. I did a restore of the backup and the error has become this key is invalid for activation. I guessed that he had already been activated when I made the backup. I then got the product key for the hard drive and did a 'set up' after you download the oem version of win 7 Home premium on the Microsoft site. The error is changed to "key is invalid for activation. Haven't tried to use SFC to check all files, there were no problems found, but it still wouldn't turn on. Called Microsoft and sat with the tech for two hours while they went through the same steps that I had. They came too with the same results. And even if the key I gave them has been verified as being valid and obtained via the route from the HP website they refused to give me a different key, instead referring me to HP unless I want to purchase a new license for $150. I want to just activate the verified legitimate copy of win 7 I have.

After setting up, I always had to reload all Microsoft updates. It takes an extremely long time to complete the prospect of having to use the disks from HP System files to regress to the original configuration is not really an attractive or resolved.

    Ideas/suggestions welcome

I think the problem is in the 'motherboard has been replaced due to failure of the sata controller".  Do you have what motherboard used for the replacement?  OEM operating system state is probably the remote sensing of the new motherboard and not finding what is needed to allow for this change.  You could try using the key from the sticker on the box to activate the installation.  Do you know how to use it?  I'm surprised that Microsoft technology does not suggest that.

  • HP pavilion dv6-3141ee from home premium to ultimate

    Hello

I have a computer hp dv6-3141ee laptop with windows 7 Home premium 64-bit installed on it.  my laptop has crashed and had a hard drive failure, so I took it to be fixed and my laptop to go with windows 7 ultimate 64 bit installed on this...

I had a few problems with ultimate 64 bit about usb ports and a microsd port, whenever I insert a USB port it does not recognize, and then I have to unplug and plug back like 5 times or more for power read...

My question is: is this really the ultimate 64 bit that causes these problems? should I go back to the original home premium 64-bit system?  Or y at - it suggestions for managing these issues?

    Concerning

    Hey ghalimajzoub,

At the base, Win7 Home Premium and Ultimate Win7 are the same - there are a few feature differences when it comes to networking, backup and languages, but as far as material interaction goes, they are the same. See this table for details:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/products/compare

The problem you are experiencing is certainly not due to a change in the Windows edition. Given that the ports were working before you took it repair, I recommend strongly to take out there, and to let them know - maybe something happened during the repair.

I bought my laptop with Win Vista Home Premium P300-156. This system will not switch to Ultimate Polish.
What I have to do, with ho I need to contact Toshiba to send me Windows Vista Ultimate?

You can upgrade your operating system, but Toshiba has nothing to do with it. Buy this laptop you bought the license for Vista Home Premium. If you want to have Ultimate you must purchase by Microsoft valid activation key.

    Hello

you have never been able to do this upgrade

You can't put Vista Home Premium to Vista Business; This is NOT an upgrade path

Home Premium to Business must be done with a clean installation using a patented FULL vista

You can upgrade Home Premium to Ultimate

    Ultimate includes the enterprise features

to buy it test a computer repair shop and ask them to left over copies

purchase online can be fraught with dangers of piracy

    Yes.

  • Problems with upgrade from Home Premium to Ultimate edition

I recently received a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate edition of my college and have had problems with the installation process. I listened to what most people tend to do and got the Windows Anytime Upgrade. I entered my key in this program, and he asked me to make what is called the Windows Upgrade Advisor.
