  I have win7, Windows Home premium 64-bit on an HP Pavilion Elite I - 7 core intel and Gateway screen (fx2300). Now I can't load games 'Titanic', 'Travel', 'Nancy Drew - lights camera curses'. -No message, just a flickering on the screen, then the game ends. On "Death on the nile" error - latest version of directx. On 'Peril at End House' error - last need direct 3d. I have directx 11. All my games worked at the beginning of April. .  I have directx 11.

  First thing to do would be to check the compatibility of the individual games that you are trying to play the Windows 7 Compatibility Center.

  Then, DO NOT ever update the drivers through Windows Update. Always install the drivers from the manufacturer's website.

  Is your Windows 7 install an upgrade of Windows Vista?

  Titanic, travel, etc. - are these games, bigfish, BTW?

  If so, contact them.

  I feel ultimately that your user account may have got corrupted somehow.

  Create a new user account and check if you can play the games there.

  If so, fix the damaged user account.

  Only thing I see is XP is 32 bit and Win7 64 bit. So, I guess that 64-bit is not backward compatible.

  I do not 'Dual Boot'. I don't have that one BONE is connected at a time because of the problems of the past with the new OS, creating a sort of chaos with the operating system older. It seems to work a heck of a lot better that way. Neither OS has no memory of the other.

  I seem to have understood "Empire Earth" works pretty well.

  I read another post of similar problem. The answer was to install the game via the open/explore the game CD and clicking on the 'Setup.Exe' instead of using the "Auto install".

  The game is loaded without a problem and works well with the Nvidia card. The graphics are excellent.

  I'll try the same method on other games. I hope that it will work with the same great results.

  Download and install SuperAntiSpyware (free version) from superantispyware.com and run a system full scan and remove all infections and restarted when prompted to.

  Then, open your browser and go to adobe.com and download the latest Adobe Flash Player and Shockwave Player.

  Then try to see if that fixed it.

  Also try changing your browser. Instead of Internet Explorer, try Mozilla Firefox.

  Most likely related to spyware or virus that you had or still have left of which is the origin of the problem.

  (d) go to the Troubleshooting tab, and then click on change settings.

  Note:

  The settings will be disabled if the graphics card driver does not support disabling hardware acceleration.

  Move the hardware acceleration slider until it is one notch to the right of none. It is the basis of acceleration.

  Click OK twice, and then close the window.

  I'm having a problem with Windows 7 which is preinstalled on a laptop Acer Aspire. Unless the laptop is on battery to 100% or pluged, games does not load upward. Because it is preinstalled serial numbers are not match so I can't get help from M/S.  Acer says it's a software problem.  Any suggestions?

  It is quite possible that the game is designed for an earlier version of Windows and is not compatible with Vista.

  The only option on the left here is to change the compatibility of the game settings by running the program compatibility Wizard. To manually change the settings of a program, use the individual program's compatibility tab.

  Run the program compatibility Wizard

  1. open the program compatibility Wizard the by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, click programs, and then clicking on use an older program with this version of Windows.

  2. follow the directions in the wizard.

  If you are unable to install a program, insert the installation for the program and, using the wizard disk, navigate to the program setup file, usually called Setup.exe, Install.exe, or something similar. The wizard is not designed to work on programs that have an .msi file name extension.
  To change compatibility settings manually for a program, right-click the program icon, click Properties, and then click the Compatibility tab.

  How can I diaable Data Execution Prevention from my computer. It drives me crazy.  Although I use the computer for other things, I like better playing games on Pogo, Yahoo, and MSN.  DEP doesn't let me load the games.

  Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is a Windows feature designed to prevent viruses and other threats to the security of an impact on your computer.  The best solution would be to contact the channels of support for games sites you want to visit and see if they have an update that will allow them to work with DEP.

  To work around the problem, you can add an exception to a "white list" that will bypass the DEP:

  1. Click Start, click run, type sysdm.cpl, and then click OK.
  2. Click the Advanced tab, click performance, and then click settings.
  3. In the Performance Options, click the Data Execution Prevention tab, and then click Add.
  4. In the Open dialog box, locate and then click the program.
  5. Click Open, click apply, and then click OK. When you are prompted to restart your computer, click OK.

  Being the more accurate would be useful here, what are the games are, and this error message do you receive?

  Generally try to use compatibility mode.

  (1) right click on the shortcut to the game in the start menu, and then click Properties.
  (2) then click on the tab compatibility at the top.
  3) click on the box next to run this program in compatibility mode for:, and then select Windows 98 or Windows XP.

  (1) If you still get no chance, uninstall the program with the Remove programs in the control panel.
  (2) browse the CD by clicking on its icon, then click Browse in the computer
  (3) find the setup.exe or install.exe program and repeat the above procedure to activate the compatibility mode on Setup.
  (4) install again by double-clicking on the setup.exe or install.exe program.
