Win7 Pro upgrade compatible requirement?

for a HP Compaq Mini CQ-10-400 ca Intel N450 running Win 7 Starter...

Going to Win7 Pro work OK?  or are there any other differences and restrictions/restrictions antinutritionnel this option?

Starter allows connection to connect to the domain server.

I have Win7 Pro licenses available, but will not install an upgrade, as a new installation, crushing everything.

Thanks in advance

Pro should work ok, you may disable some services start with windows to reduce the amount of memory used, 1 GB of memory is not really enough memory to run W7 pro very well, it will work, but may be slow until reduce you the memory usage.

Don't know what the max memory for this model, specifications say it's 1 GB, but it is incorrect.

"you say" ","OEM licenses are bound to the first computer you install and activate it on " do you mean the old software, in this case XP or Win7 (hopefully) new?

No, the version of Windows 7 OEM.

You say "the OEM versions can be used to upgrade directly from an older Windows operating system" does that mean that I have to do a clean install of Win7 and can't use tools such as Windows Easy Transfer please?

Yes, you will need to do a clean install, but you can restore a Windows Easy Transfer. MIG file. With a clean installation, settings, applications and personal files are not preserved. Please note, Windows Easy Transfer do not back up the applications, settings and personal files only.

    1. can I use Windows anytime upgrade on this since Lenove has something custom on that?

    2. If Yes, what will be the impact of the upgrade be?  Advantages or disadvantages for the features of the Tablet?

    Thank you

    DAVE

You can switch to any version above the Win 7 Starter and everything Lenovo added will be there. I've upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate and the upgrade, you will get the features of the Tablet you will not get in the Starter edition. Also in the Starter. can't remember, but was sure that you get not only the unique touch features multi-touch features. To update just go system then click on upgrade Express. Then just follow the steps and then it will ask you to put your product key and it will download and upgrade your Starter Edition. If I myself remember well it took my 3 t 20 minutes to upgrade to Ultimate edition.

    Hello:

You will find the driver sata on the link below.  Second download is that you need (32-bit).

If you want to integrate drivers, wake all of them.

If you want to install from a USB floppy at the F6 prompt, extract all the drivers to a floppy drive, and when you are prompted, for model Pro 4000 HP, I think that you select the ICH10D Intel (r) / DO SATA AHCI Controller by using your Up / Dn arrows to scroll through to find the driver.

  • Update Windows to Win7 Pro-wants to remove previously deleted program 10

I'm trying to upgrade to Win10 of Win7 Pro.  Update required me to remove Symantec Endpoint Protection, I did.  But several attempts to update always ask for the removal of this program, even if it no longer exists.  How to clear the checkpoint so that the update will pronounce?  Thank you.

    Jim

    Jim,

If using CleanWipe utility has not fixed this problem then I think you should contact Symantec support.

I also suggest to have a look on their user forum to see if someone else has experienced the same problem.  To do this in parallel with contact technical support because their users are likely to be more competent.

It is possible to run a clean install Windows 10 you are activating and using your Windows 7 product key.  These are the best explanations I've seen-

Clean Windows install 10 - WiKi

Clean install Windows 10 directly without having to first upgrade - Windows 10 Forums

    • Running a clean install would not suffer the current problem, but it would be more work that you would have to reinstall all your applications later.  The disc should be wiped its previous content.
    • Personally, I "fix" Windows 10 on my other computer by performing a clean installation.  This gives the best chance of an OS without problem in the future.

  • I upgraded to win7 starter to win7 pro with a clean install

Please help me with an answer as soon as POSSIBLE

I suggest you to reinstall Windows 7 Starter and use Windows Anytime Upgrade to upgrade to Windows 7 Professional. Personally, I can't find any information on this model. Anytime Upgrade will reduce the headache. Windows 7 Starter and professionals are based on the same kernel, so the same driver will work for 3 lack of pilots. Reinstall Windows 7 Starter using the tools of recovery of manufacturers.

If the license for Windows 7 Professional, you have access to is a retail version update or complete, you can use the product key and the Express upgrade from Windows 7 Starter to Windows 7 Professional. First of all, check that the edition of Windows 7, you are upgrading is already enabled (if it isn't, you will encounter complications and that you might start all by performing a clean installation). Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, click on the option enter a key, enter the key of Windows 7 Professional on demand, click Next, wait while checking the key, accept the license agreement, click on upgrade, wait while the software upgrades, (it may take 10 minutes or more depending on the if updates are required) your computer restarts automatically, after the reboot, Windows 7 will notify you updating the computer, the computer will restart once more automatically and will be completed the upgrade, a window will appear notifying the upgrade was successful and your computer is ready to use, click Close, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Professional your files, programs and settings retained.

  • win8 home premium to pro upgrade, says Intel wireless driver is not compatible

I have a new desire 4 with Windows 8 home preium ultrabook installed. I am trying to install the Windows Pro upgrade, who refuses to continue because my wireless software is invalid for Windows 8. I installed a later version on the Intel website, makes no difference. Thanks for the tip, Paul. I've never had this problem with an upgrade of Windows before. The instructions are here - http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/CS-030416.htm. He suggested deleting the app settings, which I don't. My solution was simple - I was really taking the wrong approach. I wanted to spend 8 Win Home Premium to Win 8 Pro and I was using the Windows 8 Pro pack which includes the 32-bit versions and 64-bit disk. They are intended for upgrading from a previous version of Windows to people. I need to take a different approach and "add features to Windows 8", which does not require a disc, as all features are already in 8 Win Home premium, they just need to be unlocked. All's well that ends well, as they say!

  • Issue of license upgrade: Windows XP Home - > Win7 Pro?

Microsoft licenses allow an install WinXP Home to upgrade to Win7 Pro through the 'Upgrade' of Win7 Pro edition?

    Thank you

Microsoft licenses allow an install WinXP Home to upgrade to Win7 Pro through the 'Upgrade' of Win7 Pro edition?

    Thank you

Yes, Windows XP Home Edition can be an eligible license, but you will need to do a custom installation, there is no direct upgrade path from it.

    The upgrade to Windows XP?

Please read these instructions carefully and completely before you begin installing Windows 7: there are important steps that you must follow to upgrade your PC from Windows XP to Windows 7 in order to preserve your files and settings.

Before you begin, you'll need to backup all your data to an external storage device, and you will need all the installation discs for the programs that you want to keep. Please make sure that you have an external hard drive (see details below).

More detailed instructions are available at windows.microsoft.com/upgrade-windows-xp. Here are the basic steps.

    1. start Windows Upgrade Advisor (windows.microsoft.com/upgradeadvisor) to see if there are known issues that may affect the installation and the question of whether you should install the version of 32 or 64 bit Windows 7.

2 back up your files and settings on an external hard drive using Windows Easy Transfer (windows.microsoft.com/windows-easy-transfer). If you do not have an external hard drive, you will not be able to use Windows Easy Transfer. Alternatively, you can copy the files you want to keep on a USB stick, CD or DVD.

    3. you will need to manually reinstall your programs, such as Microsoft Office, after I installed Windows 7. Gather the installation for your programs and all partner/license product key discs. You may be able to download programs from the Internet. For example, Windows Live Messenger can be installed from the download.live.com/messenger.

    4. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in your PC. When asked "which type of installation you want. Click on "Custom (advanced)."

    5. when Windows 7 is installed, use Windows Easy Transfer to restore your files and settings.

If you are not comfortable Windows 7 installation, check with a local retail or the services of the PC company store to see if they offer upgrade services.

  • Installing Win7 on 6005 Pro SFF - "a required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing...". »

Get this message from the Windows 7 installer at boot on Win7 Pro 32-bit disk. Have you tried several drivers likely to search in the pages of downloads HP - expansion on another machine and copy the folder of "swsetup" on a USB key and navigation on the offending machine - with the BIOS set to AHCI, Legacy IDE, Native Mode IDE and RAID in turn, but no joy. Is there another place I can get a storage controller driver that will work? Or is there anywhere I can download the installation of custom OEM Win7 HP media which is suitable for this model of PC?

    Thank you!

    Hello:

If you have the installation media yourself (to download the ISO of W7), which is normally due to a bad burn to DVD or you didn't get the entire file to download even though it said full.

Check the download file size you actually, vs, which is on the download site.

Your PC didn't need special drivers to install W7 - DVD, AHCI or otherwise.

  • A clean installation of Win7 Pro 64 Bit OS SP1 maintains the search for updates. (Error 0 x 80070005 windows update)

Hi, I recently formatted my HD and clean installed with an older version of Win7 Pro SP1 x 64 OS, I more than a week now looking online for help, but nothing is. Windows Update appears to hang "search for updates". I don't presume that my Pc is virus free because of a clean install, so I'm not sure that Microsoft stopped providing updates for older versions of windows or not. I also tried to upgrade to OS 64-bit win10 everything works fine with the installation until it reaches "search for updates" which also hangs and does not download updates, I tried Microsoft stand-alone install also but who doesn't either. I also tried running "Microsoft Genuine Diagnostics Tool" results are lower. I also tried to reset the Windows Update components by running the Fixit on the Microsoft Web site and found a windows "0x80070005" error code also known as "access denied." Something to do with registry permissions I think. A boot minimum, then run the Microsoft fixit would fix the issue im having with windows update.
