  If the original HP recovery partition is intact then you should be able to create the recovery media.

  Before attempting to improve once again, use a hard drive of commerical known reliable product imaging in the image of your hard drive to external media.  This will save you a lot of time and effort, if you never experience questions requiring to return to a fresh factory restore and then have to go through the whole update process again. The image will also save you if your hard drive fails.  If the HP recovery media is the plain W8 then take the shot.  Then after all the updates are applied and your with set success to date to W8.1 and then take another picture.

  I have no navigation bar since I closed it to have more space on the screen. It will not re - open. Firefox does not open in safe mode, but immediately opens in normal mode with the new configuration incorrect, so I can't reset to default configuration. I deleted Firefox and re-installed and it always opens with the same faulty configuration. Why doesn't Firefox give me the safe mode dialog box, why can I not re - open the navigation bar, and how I can do those two things, please?   I need serious help and hope someone can give me an idea what to do.

  I booted up my computer and noticed some of my desktop icons disappeared, then I noticed that most of the elements in my taskbar weren't appear something tried to install (turned out iTunes, but failed due to not being able to find the network or something). Then I opened the Task Manager and noticed it was running about 15 processes less than usual. Go to the start menu and more than half of the files and programs are gone. Tried to open the control panel not showing nothings. Went to Windows Explorer and everything seems to be there again nothing is open.

  My computer was working fine just a couple hours ago. Stop it for a bit and now this. One more thing because I'm trying to give as much information as I can about my problem, I just installed a program called Any Video Converter today. Professional and user clients of the program were good, but now I think otherwise.
