  • Impossible to update flash player

Using Windows XP, Firefox 39, desktop PC. I also can't update the latest version of flash player (18.00.209) after MANY attempts. Installation stops at about 50% and then he said: "the Installation failed. I tried download from different sites, that you have disabled the protection against viruses, closed windows browser etc... and get the same results each time. The installation is NOT complete; as a result, I am stuck with the 18.00.203 vulnerable vs, which Firefox has disabled unless I allow it. I am very uncomfortable allowing my 18.00.203 flash player with security issues; However, many sites I visit use flash. I see on this forum, people who know the same update problems; Therefore, it must be a problem on the end of Adobe. I'm so frustrated and would be grateful for any help. I feel that I was in a circle of hell with the directions of installation, all that I have followed closely. I usually put the same installation troubleshooting pages over and over again still no resolution. It's my first time here, so, maybe someone has a solution. Please, I beg you!

Finally, success in updating Flash - a complete accident, but I'll take it! First of all, I checked for malware/viruses...no problems. Then - and this is what seems to have done - I restarted my computer (in general I leave all the time). As soon as he started, I went to FF to 'check updates plug-in' and I saw that Adobe Flash has been miraculously updated! I went to a few flash pages, everything works. At no time during previous attempts to install I was warned to re-boot. Just the installation process stops at 50% and then says 'Impossible' (without reason). I don't know yet why a 'failed' facilities took after a reboot, but this is what must have happened because I did not seek another installation after reboot - was not necessary.

Anyway, thanks a lot for your suggestions and admonitions to update at least to Windows 7. Need a new computer so I didn't want to waste her time with this one (7 years) just get up and keep this as the storage offline and photo processing. He is a computer to measure, the best I've owned and the more stable with my XP. Yes, I know it's time to say goodbye to the old stuff. The small computer shop that built it won't even install Win 8 unless customers insist - they install 7 because it is easier to use and more stable according to them. So you see, it is difficult to rip away from wrong platforms Windows XP users. Maybe they'll have learned something to win 10 - I even Apple due to the terrible browsers that Windows has imposed on us. I don't mind the change, if it's good change.

In the meantime, I'm HAPPY to finally have a flash player update, at least. I met their requirements, so it wasn't my XP that was the question, because that is supported with the new flash. I'm really grateful for the wonderful offers of help in this forum. Try to reboot to others as a possible solution.

    Sincerely,

    Donna

I had the Flash Player update set to warn me when updates available, but I realized that I have received no notice of the Age. I went and changed to be updated automatically. The page in case of problems, it seems that if I have the latest version of Internet Explorer, I get the latest version of Flash Player. I tried to update that is there for Windows 8.1, computer 64-bit, but when trying to install, I got this:

    Flash 3 (2).png

I have Mozilla Firefox installed for backup. I checked it. He had the same outdated Flash version, but I was able to update. I prefer to use that is, just because I'm so used to it after all these years. Any suggestions?

Flash Player is built using Internet Explorer on Windows 8 and higher.  Everything comes through Windows Update.

Flash Player in Google Chrome is a built-in component of Chrome.  Everything comes through Chrome.

Flash Player for Firefox and other browsers NPAPI is distributed via Adobe and can be downloaded at http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer.  Settings you change in the configuration panel apply to this specific target of Flash Player.

Because Microsoft has its own distribution requirements (tests, etc.) which need to be addressed before they can ship, we can beat them occasionally by a couple days when offering security out of the release cycle.  In general, the difference is quite negligible, and synchronization problems are the only practical limitations and a desire to get the fix to the greatest number as soon as possible when we discover something bad in the wild.  We get a bit of a head start on Microsoft because it is our product, but they do a phenomenal job of getting out in timely releases.

Step 1: type Subject: addons in your address bar and press to enter.

Step 2: you will see a wheel like image on the top right of your browser. Click on it.

Step 3: Clicking on it will give you options like check the updates, see updates, install the update automatically etc. If your software to update automatically option is checked, please uncheck the box.

There's a person in this thread in the forum with a username of irdoc who said:

    My Mac is a MacPro 1,1... »

It is possible that there is a problem with Adobe Flash player specifically. Have you tried to watch videos with other browsers?

As a warning, I tried to find a safe place to download the 12.0.0.77 version, but I couldn't find one without risk. Be careful if you decide to go this route. Make sure you have at least some form of antivirus and firewall before you try this.

Apparently this problem with Adobe took place April 8 this year, so it's fairly new. In addition, apparently Chrome uses an integrated in flash player which does not have this plug-in. If really you need or want to watch videos, and it is a problem with Adobe, you can use Chrome for now.

What do you see on the topic: plugins page?

You can find the installation path of the plugins on the topic: plugins page.

You can view the installation folder of Flash player for multiple Flash player plugins and delete older versions of the plugin (NPSWF32) and possibly (re) install the latest Flash Player.

Firefox could block Flash because of security concerns.

Because of security problems in older versions, Apple has

updated the web plugin blocking mechanism to disable all

earlier versions of Flash Player, 22.0.0.192 and 18.0.0.360.

Information on web blocked plug-ins will be posted to:

The question you should ask is why you have Flash installed. You don't need Flash. If you have not installed Flash, videos will play in HTML5. If the video requires Flash, you can use Google Chrome to play.

From Sierra, Safari will be is more said websites common plug-ins are installed. It does this by not including not information on Flash, Java, Silverlight and QuickTime

There are 2 versions of Adobe Flash:

    • an ActiveX version for IE only
    • a plug-in version for most of the other browsers including Firefox
    • On a Windows system, you must always update both individually.

You don't seem to have the Plugin for Firefox installed version. If you did, in the Add-ons > Plugins you would see "Shockwave Flash (version)". If 'Shockwave Flash' is there and is disabled, click on the button "activate".

  • Can't update Flash Player version 14

I am unable to update or remove Flash Player 14 on my computer. I installed version 16 as well, but always swf files run in version 14. In Flash Professional, I am unable to export HTML wrappers to other versions of flash at 14.

I can't find it on the list of the applications installed either. It's really frustrating because I suspect that my apps would be better in newer versions.

Local swf files using the standalone player (expected), not the Flash Player plugin.

You can download the last https://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html projector

Note that the download is the player, not an installer, you will need to make the association of file manually.

  • Adobe Flash Player Plugin MSI is a version behind

Lately I noticed that the MSI for Adobe Flash Player Plugin pack is a version or 2 behind.

The .exe file is updated but the MSI is still to 11.5.502.146 while it is in 11.6.602.168. Person is unclear what could be the problem?

  • Why can't update Flash player give me a good file download to be able to update?

The file that I get when I click on update Flash Player in Firefox addons is: flashplayer_18_gd_install.exe, which will display an unknown Publisher, and when I click on it to install, fails with an error of initialization. See the attached screenshots.

    OS: Windows XP (Pro)
    Firefox browser
    Outdated Flash Player 17.0.0.169 (updated)
    New file to download: lashplayer_18_gd_install.exe,.

Addtl Note: I noticed, I can't perform certain tasks such as search, defrag, or 'Manage' due to missing files, but Malwarebytes and AVAST do not detect intrusions at all.

Hi, you could try if installers https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html adobe offline work instead.

Did not work. Error: the file is not a valid Win32 application.

UPDATE: I went back to this file to download some time later, clicked on it, and installed without error. I must have initially tried to install before the download was complete.

  • Flash Player Plugin tries to access internet arriving on account login pages

    Firefox 24.0
Adobe Flash Player Plugin 11.8 r800
    Software firewall: ZoneAlarm

My firewall is set to "Manual control" and I get warnings for all attempts to access from the Internet.
Firefox is already granted outbound access to the Internet, so I surfed without additional warnings. So if I go on YouTube, I can watch videos without receiving a prompt from my firewall.

However when I visit a secure account login page (where I have to enter my username and PW) the firewall warns me that 'Firefox tries to use Adobe Flash Player 11.8 r800 to access the Internet.

A prompt like this is provided by the firewall when a program uses another Internet access. If for example I click on a link in MS Excel, the firewall will tell me that Excel tries to use Firefox to access the Internet.

    Makes me concerned is:
    (1) Firefox already has access privileges. It should not "use Flash to access the internet.
    (2) this happens when I am about to use the keyboard to enter sensitive data in a secure page
    (3) there is no [apparent] Flash elements on the login pages.

Could I have acquired a malicious Flash software that tries to collect the keystrokes and transmit somewhere? Is there a way to show (in Firefox) which Flash file works at some point? (This would let me distinguish what is what makes the access attempt)

I am completely protected with Antivirus, anti-spam and breach prevention software. I also run Norton Power Eraser to see if there was anything at the root level. Nothing found.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Pages can use Flash, even when there is no video is displayed. For example some sites use Flash for menus, some for audio and some may load Flash in their Google Analytics scripts so that they know as much as possible on your system.

In most cases, the Flash Player will try to load a. SWF file, even if maybe it's not always easy. You might look for it in the Firefox Web Console.

When viewing the page, press Ctrl + Shift + k, the reload of the page. If there is a request to support Flash on the page, it should appear in the console (if the request is blocked by a firewall, it must nevertheless appear as pending a request). There is a search/filter box where you could try to enter .swf to reduce the time needed to go through the list. You can find the URL of the requested file? That might or might not make you comfortable on demand.
