You cannot use Java code in the native BlackBerry SDK.  You can use QML, C, C++, and JavaScript.

  • Add actions to the BlackBerry 10 Android app navigation bar.

    Hi all

I wore one for BB 10 Android app. I have observed that I get a navigation bar at the bottom of the screen, with icons defalult ('Back', 'info', 'Hide', 'Overflow'). I wanted to know is anyway to add our own actions (Ex: including buttons 'Previous' and 'Next') in the bar of navigation through source code Anroid.

If not through the Android source, which is available workaround...

Can someone also tell me is it possible permanently show the navigation (showing probably not 'hide' icon in the navigation bar) through Android code.

I hope that my questions are very basic since am new to porting of BB, but very curious about things. Thanks in advance.

    Ah, it's also not possible.

  • Risk of blackBerry 10 Android apps

    Hello

yesterday, I received an email that there is a security hole when you use Android applications.

Unfortunately, it is a German page, but I think you get what it says when you translate

    with google translate:

    Source IOC:

    German

    English translation

    Heise source:

    German

    English translation

Basically, he said that applications can read direct contacts of the business part of the phone.

The security flaw is fixed, but my provider for example has not released the update again...

So, if you use 10.2.1.537 or lower, I would Setup not all Android Apps.

What do you think about this?

    Concerning

    Redsun

The threat is low if you stick to the known apps and reliable sources.

Although it was reported as a security risk, I heard no Android applications that currently use this hole.

But if it's something, you are concerned about yes I recommend waiting for the update.

There is also a policy of BES ' security > Apps access to the work of personal Contacts "which can be set to None which stops all applications personal BlackBerry and Android to access business contacts side.

Once the update has been pushed out, you can change the return policy.

  • BlackBerry Hub Android N (Nougat / 7,0) support.

    Hello

I am in love with the Hub + apps and could not live without them, thank you very much for making this possible!

I plan on improving my Nexus 6 p to N Android soon and would like to confirm if Hub + apps support this?

Are there any known issues? I get a public support of BlackBerry from my Hub + subscription?

    Thank you

    G

Thanks for the comments positive @Lumute!

I can confirm N is maintained on condition that its been officially released for the device you're using. Given that Google it officially released for their Nexus devices you are good to upgrade, ad if you are having problems posting here, or send an e-mail to the support address app found in the store subscription to play, then we can help you.

    I hope this helps!

  • Is BlackBerry Passport all project to upgrade Passport 10 BlackBerry to Android?

    Hello

I recently bought a Blackberry passport (normal version, not to SE) and I read that the new smartphone, the BlackBerry Priv, will animate the Android as an operating system. So, I wonder if blackberry will support the passport by upgrading the Android operating system or support the device by providing some security for Blackberry 10 updates?

I would be great if someone from BlackBerry team (employee) could answer this question.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello!

Regarding your request for comments from people of BB, please see this "sticky" post, as well as the wires to which it connects, for more useful information to guide you as you go:

I hope that this information will be useful to you.

In addition, what you ask would require knowledge and revelation of the "forward looking information", which in reality is strictly banned here, and any person who has such knowledge would reveal due to the NDA and other instruments.

So, with this "officialness" of the road, here is my speculation. N ° current devices have hardware that is coupled to the BB10 operating system. The PRIVATE, given everything we see and hear, will be completely different material, coupled with a completely different operating system. Swapping them probably would not work.

Your concern for security is actually quite interesting... as well as the opposite of others who speculate these things here. It is the idea more than the PRIVATE will be less secure than traditional BB10 and will require several modules in order to to align the equity security. Thus, BB10 updates won't be necessary... on the contrary, it will take Add-ons for the Android OS platform. Nevertheless, we have confidence that BB will continue development and support, release of the applicable updates to all the platforms they support.

See you soon and good luck!

  • BlackBerry essential Android apps for Blackberry jump jump list?

    Hello

As previously the typical Indian Android user his habbitual to use Android applications as

    1. lots of Google applications like gmail, den, g +, maps, result etc.

2 Bookmyshow, PVR, apps to cinema etc.

3 Amazon.in, flipkart, snapdeal etc shopping apps

4 BCC, CNN, Times of India etc new apps

    5 Microsoft office applications

    6. comparative analysis of applications such as Antutu & many others

Now, as a new user, I'm trying to learn what available apps in the store Amazon or Blackberry world.

So question is, like Leap Blackberry user or developer is there any list of essential applications?

    khiremandar wrote:

    I prefer certified AppStore

Well you can limit you unnecessarily so. For example, one of my "essential" apps is the Waze navigation software. But, the developers of Waze has been very slow expel updates via BBWorld and the Amazon App Store, but quick to push through the Google game shop. With the help of the snap is therefore necessary patches make important receive. In addition, many developers don't even bother to push their possible applications the Google game store... which means that if you look only at BBWorld and the Amazon App Store, you will not see these applications, even though they may be perfectly available for your use through the snap.

A sad state of affairs for BB is indeed the app availability. He is cruelly via BBWorld (and often even the Amazon App Store) for exactly that reason (the developers just don't take the time). But SNAP puts the entire catalog of applications Google play in availability for BB 10 users. Each developer chooses their path for the distribution of their app... BB don't not "force" anyone to use BBWorld for the distribution of their App. Therefore, some smart users have been very creative in the manufacture of tool parts for obtaining applications distributed via other means (for example, SNAP bringing in the whole catalogue Google Play).

But your choice is yours to make.

    Good luck!

  • Missing Actionbar after adding nature blackberry to android project

Hello everyone, this is my first post and I'm hoping to find a solution to a recent problem I've encountered. I have an android project which supports api level 9 at the level of the api 19. The application uses the appcompat v7 support library I need for backward compatibility. I use actionbarsupport and everything works as expected on the android os and fire, but when I add nature of blackberry for the project and run the application on my playbook (os version 2.1.0.1088) I have strange unexpected behavior. The orientation will automatically be rote from portrait to landscape and then the actionbar will disappear leaving my application in a State were is no longer navigable. If anyone can help.

    Thank you

Thank you for your reply, I appreciate you taking the time to answer my query. I have now solved this problem, and not surprisingly, it wasn't a question of blackberry but an Android. The problem was with revision 18 of the appcompatv7 library. Once that I have updated to revision 19 the question I had been corrected. This was a question that performs all versions of gingerbread of my application and not only the blackberry version. I had not noticed because I have not tested the application on a device of gingerbread in a few weeks and I had not received all feedback from users.

I do not plan to update the operating system on my playbook because I want to support older devices too, and in this case if I had a set os to date, I would not have found this question.

    Thank you

  • Contacts transfer blackBerry 10 Android without BBID BBM

Hello. I know that this question has been asked a million times, but none of the proposed solution has worked, if...

My mother has an old Blackberry "BOLD" (running OS 6 I think) and she recently bought an android phone. She didn't sign with a BBID in his old blackberry, although she has a BBID to its android app. I'm afraid if I sign with the BBID on the old blackberry, I won't be able to synchronize his OLD contacts, instead I will overwrite the old contacts with the contacts in his android (who has maybe 3 people, as opposed to 50 +)

I tried to save the contact and got a file with which, but I don't know what to do with it, because there is no option in the BlackBerry application to import contacts.

Just to be clear, it's BlackBerry Messenger, not the telephone contacts contacts. I managed to import the .vcf, fortunately.

So I guess my question is:

    1. If I log in on his old Blackberry with a new BBID, he replaces his old contacts with its new contacts? It will be able to sync his old contacts to its new BlackBerry application?

    2. how to import a file with which to BlackBerry app?

Or if not, if you know another solution for this, I would be really grateful.

    Hello monogatari.

    Please let me first summarize.

    The situation is the following:

    • on an old BBM on the "BOLD", there are more than 50 contacts. that BBM is a version without BBID.
    • on a new BBM on the Android phone, there are 3 contacts. It is related to a BBID, let's call it BBID1.

Your mother wants to get in the end 53 contacts on his BBM on the Android phone.

    is that correct?

    *****

If so, here's how I would do things. Two proposals.

The backup can be restored only on older versions of BBM for BBOS. Especially not on BBM for Android. If this doesn't get you anywhere.

    solution one.

    1. using the "BOLD", open each contact and view their QRCode.
    2. Use the phone Android, in BBM, add the contact with the camera scanning the QRCode.
    3. Repeat for each contact.

If for some reason you cannot view the QRCode on the "BOLD", then you must update the BBM version on it.

    two solution.

    1. create a new BBID2 (for example using the browser of your "BOLD" or a PC)
    2. install blackBerry World, this should also install the application called "BlackBerry ID".
    3. BlackBerryID installation and BlackBerry World, install BBM.
    4. engage with solution 1.
    5. I advise you to keep BBID2, even if you do not use.
