  • On Vista laptop, the cursor moves suddenly

I got my laptop about 18 months, using Vista Home Premium.  Occasionally the cursor could get a mind of its own and go anywhere or do anything (including the removal of entire paragraphs) all by himself.  A simple reboot fixed it usually.  I thought it was a hardware problem.  When it became constant I sent the laptop for repair under warranty.  HD & replaced keyboard.  PROBLEM still there.  Contact mfg now tells me that it comes to the OS.
Someone at - he heard of this?  Y at - it a known patch or solution?  I'm going nuts.  It took 5 minutes to type this message because of the slider ball bouncing.

Oh, I did a full recovery reinstall since the time of the laptop already

    * original title - Jumping bean cursor *.

Thanks for the suggestion.  It's exactly the same problem.  Last night, the suggestion above your me has caused to stumble onto what I think, this is the solution.  I just posted the below on the other site.  Please feel free to spread the word.  This must be one of the most frustrating issues unknown I have ever encounterd.

Thank you very much for your help.

I thought I was out of my mind and I found the solution... someone suggested I look at the driver for my touchpad... that was not the problem but he made me look deeply into the installer for the touch pad... Low and behold there was a parameter to 'disable listen when typing' which was not selected.  As soon as I selected this option and rebooted, all was good with the world.  I couldn't believe the difference.  He types as it should and has for 24 hours now.

I had even put mine in the shop for a warranty repair... they replaced the keyboard and hard drive...

CHECK YOUR TOUCHPAD OPTIONS... which can be everything you need...

I hope for your sake.  While I understand your frustration.

  • The cursor moves in the opposite direction

    Original title: "slider issue"

about 40% of the time after the start of my laptop, the cursor moves in the opposite direction. If I restart, it usually solves the problem, but sometimes I have to restart 2-3 times... I only use the touchpad and doesn't it have never get tired with a mouse... ideas?

    Cheers, fileeep!

Tell me everything said on adapter #3 and adapter #6 - What are they, what error messages they say exactly?  These devices work, or if you have problems with them (one of them is the mouse)?  Error 31 means he cannot load device drivers which means that there is something wrong with the drivers or the device is not compatible with this version of Vista or another component on your system (very hard to tell from a distance).  You should always download and install the new drivers, firmware and for two devices having problems (not just drivers - it may be more necessary) just to be sure, that you are not corrupt.  We need to solve the problems with these devices, because I suspect that it is at the origin of this problem.

If this does not work, we will need to make a complete diagnosis of the entire system.

    Good luck!

P.S. Please do the test with the mouse - that will tell us a lot.

  • Satellite Pro A300 - the cursor moves continuously when connected an external mouse

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro A300. When I connect a mouse directly by USB the cursor moves constantly. I also have a mouse attached via a docking station, Toshiba and that works perfectly.

It doesn't matter what USB port I use or if the laptop is connected to the docking station or not, or if it works on AC or on battery power.

I thought it was the mouse that was the problem, so I went and bought a new one but the problem persists.

Actually, while I wrote this post, he has stopped doing that and then started! Very frustrating.

    Can anyone help?

    Thank you

When I opened a new tab, the cursor is automatically in the field of navigation, because I reinstalled Firefox yesterday. Is there a solution?

    I solved.

I installed mutorrent, which in turn installed 'Safe Protect' of 'Intermediary' that messed up my Internet browser settings.

I uninstalled it and everything turned back to normal, when I opened a new tab, the cursor is automatically in the address bar (ie. it is highlighted).

    Thanks for your time.

  • When you type in Firefox, the cursor moves to the left while everything is written backwards.

Recently, whenever I try to type so that Firefox 9.01, the cursor moves to the left while everything is written backwards. I can normally type into a word document to have done with it and cut and pasted in this message. I use Windows XP. I closed Firefox and restarted my computer twice with no success to solve this problem.

Maybe this recent thread on the issue even helps.

  • Screen is scrolling down repeatedly and the cursor moves on its own.

The cursor is rolling along of type I.m

You do not give much information about what is really happening, but the first two points to check are the mouse and the keyboard, before looking for other hardware or software problems.

If you have another mouse and keyboard available, you can try reverse the two and restart the computer to see if the problem persists.  If not a little more information would be needed before I could give advice on the best way to solve the problem.

You're talking about the screen, scroll down and the cursor moving without the mouse - these are two separate actions.

He is not anywhere on the screen do scroll down unless you have a running program - this scrolling happens with all programs that could scroll, or simply with a certain program?

The cursor moves randomly or according to a specific orientation?  The cursor move around all the time or only in certain programs?

These problems occur all the time, or only when you do something, like click with the mouse or use the scroll wheel?

A part of the my s g80 lenovo touchpad does not (far left, to be more precise on the thick part of 5 cm), the cursor moves sometimes, bought this tour only 2 weeks before. I use especially the usb mouse, so never experienced this problem before, I do not know if it is still there since I bought. I contacted lenovo saying this problem, they asked to reinstall the driver for the touchpad from the link given, the problem persists and they claimed his driver with w7 incompatibility and reinstall the operating system? Please say a solution for this problem, I can't change the os now :(

Lenovo/support forums is the place to ask, its their software/driver.

Unless of course you make the mistake of using windows update for drivers, if so try to make back the driver, or reinstall on the Lenovo support site

  • The mouse cursor moves automatically

Today, I installed the patches to update for the affected Windows 7 Pro 64-bit machine.  Shortly after, I installed the printer driver for an HP laser printer. To the arrival of this, the cursor started jumping around on the screen and click right windows to open randomly place.  It was impossible to do anything with the mouse, because the jump was so rapid.  I tried another mouse, but the fault remained, and he was always there, even if there is no mouse.  I had to use the power button to turn off the machine.  Then I restarted in safe mode, and stopped jumping.  I drove back to three different, although restore points before sentencing, but as soon as I restarted in normal mode, the jump began.  I did a selective startup with msconfig, but the problem was still there. I did a check for complete virus with the CEP. Then I stopped for the day.  Tomorrow I intend to start by booting from a repair disk, and if that doesn't work I don't know what to do next.  Do you have any suggestions?

Original title: jumping cursor in Windows 7, desktop computer

    Hello Mary,.

Welcome to the Microsoft Community Forum.

    Let me ask you,

    1. Do you have update installed?
    2. What is the brand and model of the mouse?

Please try the following suggestion and check.

Put your system to the clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. You must follow the steps in the article mentioned below to perform a clean boot.

  • The cursor moves erratically even when no mouse connected

I've had the problem for over a year now, but I never received tour to report. From time to time, my cursor moves erratic around the screen, jumping from position every few seconds. I have a MBP, but often use it plugged on a screen and mouse etc with the lid closed. The problem persists if Setup like that, even when the external mouse is disconnected, or when simply use it as a laptop. I recently wiped the hard drive and reinstalled a clean copy of Mac OS x from zero (no backup), but the problem still persists.

    Any ideas?

Looks like a hardware problem. How old is this MBP? Sometimes, when they get older, the battery may start to inflate and put pressure on the trackpad.
