How to disconnect an internal DVD drive failing?
My PC under Windows XP SP3 has a failed internal DVD burner. I can log out without physically deleting? If not, can I just physically remove it (following appropriate procedure) and restart the system? I have a DVD burner external replacement which works fine if I don't want to replace the internal drive fails. Any advice much appreciated.
Right click on my computer > properties > hardware > Device Manager > click the CD or DVD drive marked entry > right-click on the sick drive > properties > at the bottom of the window, you have two options: to use the drive or turn it off > select Disable > OK > apply (if requested) > re-boot > XP it will take is more into account.
See you soon,.

You are looking for an internal DVD drive for a Satellite Pro A40
Hello
I'm looking for an internal DVD burner for a model Satellite Pro A40 2.88 Celeron with a currently installed CD-RW/DVD-Rom. My mother is the owner of this laptop and I want to upgrade the drive for her.
Does anyone here know of any number of model of the DVD-RW/CD-RW/DVD-Rom that is compatible with this model.
I want the drive to function as a DVD-Rom/CD-RW also because I do not want to lose these features. Swap the bezel above if necessary isn't a problem for me.
Thank you
Hello
For this particular model, I could not find another A40 Pro which has a DVD - RW, only DVD ROM. I also suggest to buy an external DVD - RW writer because an internal hard drive will cost much more. Probably triple what external there. External, you can find for about 50 but internal will cost at least about 90 more taxes. I'm sure it is internal that correspond to this machine, but at the moment I don't have the time to research each compatible model search of the car, it's why I suggest an external drive. I hope this helps. -
It won't read a DVD. It will not read ANY CD or DVD. I tried 12 different CD/DVD. This isn't an upgrade to Vista; the computer came "made for Vista" with Vista installed on it. I had added Nero. I removed Nero. I did all the updates. I have not released the driver and reinstalled. He claims to have the latest driver software, but it won't work. The computer can see the CD/DVD, but he calls it a 'CDROM '. It is not the case. It is a DVD/Cd-RW with Labelflash.
I did everything suggested that past discussions. I ran FIXIT program that claims that the drive works properly. It is not the case.
I tried to get various programs to recognize. They cannot see the installed media.
I uninstalled iTunes.
Please do not give me the answer of cut-and - paste stock; It does not work.
Please tell me what to do to make Vista see the media inserted in the CD/DVD-RW drive.
Thank you.

Satellite L30-105 (PSL33E) Windows Vista does not see the DVD - ram UJ-850 s
Hello
I have a Satellite L30-105 (PSL33E) with windows Vista. Windows Vista does not recognize the DVD - ram. BIOS recognize DVD-ram. I tried to download the drivers for the DVD-ram, but they are not on the side of Toshiba.
Who can help me to get the right driver or learn more? Problems with the carpet * a DVD-ram uj-850 s ATA device and windows Vista.
Hello
The CD/DVD drive needs no special drivers!
Vista includes a Microsoft driver that works with all CURIOUS s (CD/DVD drives)Simply said, the Vista should recognize the drive without any problems.
A few questions; did you get any error messages? What is the status of Device Manager? Do you see yellow exclamation points?
There is an old way to correct a similar drive problem. It worked on XP then try it on Vista OS.
It of necessary to update the registry entry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}1. click on the start menu.
2. If it is a Vista machine in the search box type regedit without quotes.
3. look for the registry key mentioned above.
4. in the right panel you'll see something along the lines of UpperFilter and UpperFilter you want to click on each key filter and tap on delete. Click Yes when asked to confirm if you want to delete the key.
5. restart Windows.
6 let me know if it works. -
What internal DVD +/-RW will work with my Satellite P10-304
Can someone give me an answer to what internal DVD +/-RW will work with my Satellite P10-304.
I said a CSD-6012 or DVD +/-RW UJ-820 might work.
Help, please
Thank you

Hello
Have you checked the manual of the Satellite P10?
Sometimes, compatible CD/DVD players are in the user manual that must be installed on your laptop.
If you n t have the user manual, then you can download from the Toshiba page. However, if you don't get the right info in the user's manual then I would recommend contacting the ASP in your country for details.
Usually, you can order a player taken in charge of these guys here.It is important that you know which drives are compatible because of the different master\slave\c-salt settings.
Bye and good luck

The installation of Service Pack 2 for Vista failed. I tried several times. Message reads "not successful." "Element not found". I click on the 'Détails' link and it shows the following error: ERROR_NOT_FOUND (0 x 80070490). I tried in several ways through the links suggested to solve the problem and nothing has worked.
I turned to the forums and I saw that many, many people have the same problem with Vista SP2 Upgrade. Microsoft and several of its Vista customers realized that Vista has a lot of problems, but people who have need of the service. Being able to download and install the SP2 can make Vista more stable, but I get the same message mentioned above, and so I am sure are a lot of other people who are trying to get Service Pack 2 integrated into Vista.

Internal DVD drive for Aspire V 15 Nitro (VN7 - 572 G-573E)
Hello
I bought the Acer (see topic) a few months ago and now decided to get an internal DVD player to this laptop. I know how to take the dummy/fake hunting, but I noticed that the shape of the lid is rare, so I can't buy a DVD player only from some store IT, as far as I understand. It would leave a significant opening to the lower cover of the laptop. The cover cannot be moved from the fake, is a permanent part of the plastic Assembly.
Where can I buy a DVD player to my Acer? Acer is the only person who can provide, and if it is, how do I get the part? Online store didn't have it.
Please provide accurate information to the customer in Finland. I noticed that the Acer Web site takes me quite quickly to the site of Acer Sweden, in Swedish. Not happy, but maybe I'll manage it from there if I know exactly how to proceed. If there is no customer of Acer in Finland of course service.
If this disc shaped can be bought elsewhere, I'd appreciate this kind of unofficial info as well.
Thanks for your help!

My Windows vista fails to update CB25335223 and KB 2468871 several times already. I tried to update menually via the microsoft Web site, but he did not find these two updates? What should I do?
Hello
1. what happens when you try to install updates?
2 are you able to install some other updates?
3. do you get an error message?
Method 1: Put the computer in a clean boot State before updates
Note: After installing the updates, follow step 7 in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startupmode.
Method 2: Temporarily disable any security software.
Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
Method 3: Download and install the 1 kb/2533523 for the .NET Framework 4 reliability update
