in overscanned .mpg files

Hi all

Working on a project and I exported my files under types of .mpg files to be closed all day. I exported in PAL DVD wide screen to a frame size of 720 x 576, 25 FPS. Types of final file WLE play fine opening in VLC or WMP. However when I put them on a memory pen and play through the USB port of a TV they instantly becomes overscanned, and I lose the edges of my video files. I wonder if this might be something I'm doing wrong causing the file to be overscanned in being played on a TV, or if the TV itself (tried format settings, non on parameters of scanning).

I would also like to note that, when I play the video directly from the PC to the TV via a cable that it plays very well, no "zoom" appears. Monitors seems to appear when played the pen USB to the USB port on the TV. Someone at - he heard of this problem before?

Most TVs have a level of overscan. That is why the safe Action and safe title areas serve - to allow this overscan. More old CRT TV were quite a bit worse than newer devices, some of which have almost zero overscan.

With the old TV CRT that overscan was very marked. If you were to compare their screens with a PAL (or NTSC) broadcast monitor, you would see that they lost about 10%. Once, the areas on the periphery of the image had retail brands, and bars of color calibration, to help engineers in a television station, plan for ads and also to calibrate their signal, about Gamma and color. This area was never seen by the viewer at home, in most cases.

My first try would be to view these MPEG, from the USB key, on a TV different set of. If this test TV is a different brand/model, the amount of overscan will probably differ.

If you do not see a change, even slight, then you know that the problem IS just the overscan. You have two options right here: you can accept that there will be overscan, a visualized image will differ, Viewer to the Viewer, depending on their equipment, or, you can scale the Clips on your Timeline, ever so slightly, leaving small black bars on the sides. Then, on some TV, those who will be seen, but probably not really noticed, and then will be seen on some TVs, the full Frame.

If you display only on a particular TV and do not send through broadcast, simply reduce the image to work with TV ONLY.

Good luck

    Hello Steve

If you have this problem with Windows Media Player, you probably need to install the codec package.
I recommend to install K-lite codec package or even K-Lite mega codec package.

It is simply to find. Use Google and you will find after a few clicks only.

    Hi tom,

Thanks for using the Community Forums of Microsoft for Vista.

Normally, something like that, the problem is resolved by downloading and reinstalling the latest MS codec packs.

In this case, however, I think the problem is conflicting codec installations.

I think you should start by restoring the system running and to cancel most of the codec installations. Go back to the extent that is reasonable and see if that helps.

If not, then download the latest codec for your multimedia player by Microsoft and see if that does the trick.

I think that will do, let us know whether.

  • Window Movie Maker will import my .mpg file, but will not play audio.

I used Windows Movie Maker 2.6, Vista and Live for many years and I've always been able to convert my files to .wmv with ease. My old computer recently crashed and I reinstalled the program and codec I had on my new machine.

A week ago, I was import and conversion of some files to .mpg without problem what-so-ever, but when I import my .mpg files now, I receive one of the following scenarios:
    (1) ".mpg is an empty file." (2.6)
    (2) the video works fine, but there is no audio data. Yet, if I play in Windows Media Player or any other program, I get the audio without problem. (Vista and Live)
    (3) I also run Magix Movie Edit Pro 15, but when it exports to .wmv, the video is distorted / restless (even with the anti-flicker filter on).

I have uninstalled and reinstalled my codecs several times, went to the compatibility of the Menus and tried to post the video to see if the audio could have a defect in playback of the program, but without success.

  • Media Player 12 on windows 7 is unable to play sounds on mpg file created using arcsoft total media 3.5

in question .mpg files use the audio codec of arcsoft. These same files play with sound on wmp 11 Vista ultimate on another machine. Both have total media 3.5 installed.

These .mpg files also do not play in the computer of windows 7 using win 7 media center or film maker.

WMP 12 shows that the arcsoft audio codec is installed.

In addition, some .mpg files created by ArcSoft show no video or audio in wmp 12, but work correctly on vista with wmp 11 system.

a noticeable difference in technical support for windows media information is the presence of Microsoft MPEG-1hd Audio decoder under the mpeg/dvd filters in the list for wmp11 but not wmp12. I am unable to find this codec for installation.

any suggestions on how to find sound would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Addendum: other mpg which were extracted independently of Arcsoft files also do not play sound in wmp 12. The property indicates the same audio codec association of arcsoft. Tried to uninstall and install the window media components but no change.

    Thank you!

I had the same problem one solved it just by setting filter audio decoder arcsoft merit for 0 x 600000 with Gspot.

  • Remove the scratch audio from. MPG file

I have a file MPEG2 of the videographer with a stereo scratch 192 kHz Dolby Digital AC3 audio stream saved to the camera.  I have a new track audio file of Dolby Digital AC3 5.1 48 kHz 48 kHz, mixed to a multitrack recording was recorded in genlock with video.

I have created a project Encore CS5.1, adding video to the timeline, removed the audio track and put the new track surround audio replacement.

I've done this several projects before, but do turn a problem with this one because of the length of the video.   The project checklist yet complains that the project is too big for a 4.7 GB DVD without transcoding, however it would fit if the MPEG2 file was not the audio of unwanted follow embedded inside.

I really don't want to put the video through a new generation of transcoding.  Is there a way I can strip the audio from the MPEG2 without transcoding it AND replace the. Active MPG in the project again?  Or is it possible to replace the AC3 stream in the. MPG file with version 5.1 to produce an asset with which still accept as a replacement?

My desktop is Windows 7 x 64.   I tried using Avidemux 2.6 and still complained that the replacement was not of the same type; It's a moot point anyway because Avidemux has done a poor job of syncing the audio integrated video.

If I understand correctly what you describe, you cannot replace the file mpg as the asset unless it's another mpeg file. You need to demux the original, put the m2v to this process as the asset and create your project. Then add the 5.1 audio to this timeline.

  • CS4 does not recognize the MPG files that it captured previously

    Hello

I have spent some time in the knowledge base and search the Forum, but don't see anything that could help me.

Windows 7 64-bit on Intel I - 7 920 quad 12 GB of ram CS4 version 4.2.1.  This problem developed there months after installing the suite CS.  Other than what is explained here, there were no changes to the operating system or CS4.

The problem is that CS4 has ceased to recognize imported MPG files to a HDV camera about a month, using the PrPro capture utility (F5?).  These files have been imported into the project and then treatment Panel (MIC, effects, etc.) on a 64 THAT HDV preset timeline minute.  The entire sequence has been made and read successfully.

After completing the sequence, I exported it with SOUL to create the elementals of blue ray MPEG to add in yet.  The TEA code finished without obvious mistake.

Then I created a project again and tried to add the asset - an audio and a video file.  The audio file is added without problem.  Importing video files failed 99% with encorr and Windows hung.  Power off required stop.

Suspecting a problem with the video file, I open the video file in Windows Media Player and it played ok.  (I note here that this was the first time on this machine that I used WMP, and he did a few configuration steps?)

I tried yet again without success.  At the next reboot, I open the windows task manager and placed on the second screen so I could watch the CPU to use.  The use of the CPU ran 3 to 8% but when still hung, grew the Task Manager

I have uninstalled and reinstalled again and SOUL and then upgraded for current levels of the rev.  Same answer as before.

Based on a post on the site again, I deleted the cache of media key in the registry and rebooted.  Always without success.

At this point, I decided to see if one of these manipulations had affected the PrPro project.  The project, the sequence and the project Panel all come up as before.  However, all the MPG files were marked OFFLINE.  AVI files and PSD image files were unaffected - they remain linked. These files are all on the HARD disk in the PC itself - no removable disks or network

I tried to re bind the file by clicking on the main capture file, but each attempt resulted in the error message "unsupported format". or corrupted file.

Using WMP, I found that the files were not damaged.  I also confirmed that ADobe had recreated the media cache keys and was in fact identified files files.

I tried to reimport the original capture file and received the same error message.

I have paid full CS4 and I confirmed that I had options MPEG, when I created a new project.

For now, I'm more interested fixed the PrPro reason no longers recognizes MPG files he captured, processed and made yesterday. I will fight the problem still on this site.

Everyone knows this or can make a suggestion how to fix this?

I do not see why reinstall again and SOUL would have caused this.  I can suspect WMP.  Where can I find which codecs are charged and their priority? What is the codec for prpro would look? MainConcept?

I intend to use Gspot to see this as code mpg files - need the codec used by adobe.

Any help you give would be appreciated.

I can help you with one of those - project files/folders are intact. I am paranoid that I save things like that, even if they should not be affected in some way.

Like the Adobe Clean Script, run several times is designed to eliminate all things Adobe CS4, I don't know how it might affect the other Adobe programs in a suite. Maybe others can give you a definitive answer.

I also usually recommend run a cleaner registry, like CCleaner (and to let the default registry backup first), before the reinstall. IIRC, a user had a problem with him, but could have been OE, as most of the users here swear by it, and I've never had a problem (always do the backup of the registry but).

Good luck and sorry for the bad news. Maybe someone from Adobe can shed more light on why, but I have yet to hear of what happens with CS5, so maybe all that has allowed the reversion has been fixed.

Furthermore, it seems important to make all updates immediately after reinstalling, before launching the program. It is in any case the recommendation.

  • MPG files are a miniature graph?

    Hello

When you look at the list of files in my pictures, is there a way to get MPG files to show a graph or a capture instant film, similar to the way a miniature works with jpg files? Currently, they display an image of film with 'MPEG' downstairs.

    Thank you.

When you access the file-> open, you use windows interface that has nothing to do with Photoshop. Either the icons are set too small for thumbnails view or for some reason, the thumbnails are not displayed (bad codecs, the files themselves have problems, etc.)
