  • Satellite M200 Vista shows that the HARD drive is full of 98%

This problem showed about 2 months ago the system started running slowly and after a bit of research, I went to computer and found he showed that the HARD drive was full of 98%. Then I went and disabled the feature of shadow copy that reached about 3 Gig. After that, the performance was still hurt, so I decided to do a system restore. All reformatted once was good again until a week ago, and the same problem came back once again.

This laptop is running Vista Home Premium SP1, 120 Gig drive HARD, Kaspersky Anti-virus, it has very limited connection to the Net, as it is mainly used to store and transfer music on an Ipod (20 GB of music).

Any thoughts? Maybe a hardware failure?

    Thanks in advance.

    Craig.

Hardware failure is very likely, since you are clearly able to access your hard disk without problem.
Looks like you are using software that could be gradually fill the hard drive with data, such as a log file, it is difficult to say.
With the erosion of the space, you might want to periodically check each folder in drive C (right click, properties) and see how it changes for each new session.

Also clean the temporary files would help such as for:

    "c:\temp".
    "c:\windows\temp".
    "%userprofile%\Local Settings\Temp.
erase internet files of Internet Explorer cache / temporary
deactivation and reactivation then "System Restore" (do this only if you are satisfied with Vista is running stable)

What is the E: drive? Hard drive? CD/DVD drive? Something else?

If it is a hard drive, it's a partition on your hard drive only or a
    second physical disk?

If it is a part, how big is it? How it is there? You did

If the latter, what is the "useless stuff" that is there. How many
files? What are their names (tell us at least a few names)?

    Hello

  • Drive on which Windows XP to reside is always labeled as a system drive. How can I make one of the other disks that has Vista or 7 that the new system?

    Change the system drive

I'll try to explain my situation better than I can.

My situation is that when I used to have XP installed, I had installed the only drive I had back then which is now the drive D, for a long time, so I have Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit, Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit installed on two different discs, Vista is installed on drive C and 7 is installed on drive E , but I don't have XP that I had managed to get rid of it.

My problem is that the drive on which Windows XP to reside has always left this disc marked as system in the disk management window, and I was wondering how to do that one of the other readers who has Vista or 7 that the new system?

I already managed to change the startup disk from drive where Vista is installed to, it's just that I need to change the disk that is marked as system to another drive, such as D drive begins to show signs that it comes at the end of his life and I would like to move the startup folder as well as the other files needed to start on the other.

I assume that you installed Windows XP 1, then Vista, 7 (these 2 OS not in order)?

And Vista and 7 was by all means upgrade installation?

Since originally, that you have installed Windows XP on drive D, it should be marked as 'system' and retains so the tag 'system '.

The volume of the 'system' should be identified as the first primary partition active. It may or may not have the files it contains.

The fact that the system considers "system drive" does not mean that there are files that it contains.

Now, you want to delete the existing volume and create a new volume. Needs to be done outside the facility.
When you start the cd or DVD to start the installation list us readers, if you remove the volume the volume drive letter is already booked, so you get the next available drive letter, do not re-use the deleted volume drive letter.

If he removed during installation and then recreated as a new volume (formatting does not remove the volume, you need to delete the volume and recreate it)

Try a new Folder.dbx file. Reboot when finished.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

The path to the message will be very similar to this:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Your User of utilisateur\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\ {long string of letters & numbers} \Microsoft\Outlook Express

With OE closed, find the Folders.dbx file and delete it.  Another will be created automatically when you open OE.

    Note these possible side effects:

When you re - start OE, it will build a new index of all *.dbx files it can read and create a new Folders.dbx. However, understand that you will lose the mail directory structure and message rules will probably have to be edited.

  • How to replace the audio driver by default and applet on Windows Vista Home Premium Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop computer?

I had sound problems and got a pop up saying audio applet did not work, I chkd the sound test in Control Panel and drivers in Device Manager it says all drivers have been updated and had a MS Mr. Fixit scan and everything said it was OK. Also I went to chat with and MS engineer who just told me to do the things that I had already done so who did not help either.  Then, I lost all sound and when I went and chkd Manager of devices, he said that the sound driver was not installed, I went to Dell to have a driver update installed thinking to recognize the missing driver and install it but that didn't work. I can't find something at Dell who tells me how to install the drivers by default/applets. I got chk Dell for updates of pilot and analysis says that it does not work on something more old then XP but my OS is a Vista Home Premium so I don't understand that, I ran an another Mr. Fixit scan but it showed no problems. I suspect it is the applet which has stopped working and it gives a wrong signal that it is the driver that does not work when it is the applet which poses problem. Is there a scan which analyzes all aspects of the audio system and will repair or replace or at least give me a list of things that need to be replaced or updated? Any help would be appreciated I tried to solve this problem for the past two months and I really want to fix this now if possible.

    Hello

Updates must be installed in a certain order and no Service Pack must be installed unless and until it is offered through Windows Update.

    However, try these options:

Step 1: You can not reuse what already automatically downloaded and installed. You can however save updates and install them manually if you wish.

Step 2: You can create a system image on the computer. A system image is an exact copy of a disc. By default, a system image includes the drives required for Windows to run. In addition, it includes Windows and your system settings, programs and files. You can use a system image to restore the contents of your computer if your hard drive or computer ever stops working.

    Hi, VIJAIRAGHAVANP V,.

You can try the following steps and check.

    Method 1:

You can try a system restore to a prior restore point before you have been affected by the issue.

Note: When you perform the system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

To run the system restore, you can consult the following link:

    System Restore: frequently asked questions

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/system-restore-frequently-asked-questions

    Method 2:

If you are still facing problems then try creating a new user account and check if the problem occurs:

    Create a user account

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/create-a-user-account

If you are not faced with any issue, then check out the following link to correct a damaged account.

I tried the clean boot and now the hard drive works simply and screen went black. The mouse still moves around the screen without any outher work keys? That is what it is?

    Hello

You will need to reverse the clean boot, as it is either incidental compared to
the real cause of the problem. What, where you try to fix initially using the cleanboot?

You can access Mode safe? Repeatedly press F8 as you start? If so you can try the configuration - control panel
The Device Manager - graphics card - Double click on - driver tab - click the driver UPDATE - then
Right click on the device and UNINSTALL - REBOOT.

Another method to try to get to the desktop (try in normal Windows Mode without failure) is
CTRL + ALT + DEL and the processes tab find EXPLORER.exe and COMPLETE the PROCESS on this subject - and then
on the Applications tab - lower right - new task - type in EXPLORER.exe. Safe mode is reached
by tapping F8 as you start several times.

First check this thread in case it is simple and if not to come back to this thread.

Black screen problems are extremely difficult to repair and all patch is usually on a base hit or miss.
That there is no information on a black screen as it is on a blue screen just adds to the
Difficulty. Often using a restore point or Startup Repair will have no effect. You can try a
Google to see the proposed repairs, whom some have worked however these cover a wide
