In Vista where is Task Scheduler program. I can get to it, but not directly.

I had a problem with a batch program, I tried to plan.  Because I needed to plan several times as I made changes, I kept having to go throughHelp and support via the Start button.  The program itself must be hiding somewhere.  I solved my immediate problem, but there must be a better way to join the program.  Under XP, it is in the Control Panel, but notin Vista.

  • I can't open the .jpg files from the desktop using "Windows Photo Gallery" as the default program. They open normally from nowhere elsewhere, but not directly from the desktop. No error, nothing happens.

If I right click 'open with' open with other programs like IE but not "Windows Photo Gallery". It is not a specific .jpg file, this is all .jpg files. For example... I have a .jpg file in a folder on my desktop, open folder double click, it will open in the "Windows Photo Gallery". Copy and paste the SAME file on the desktop, double-click on, nothing happens. I tried to restart, change the default value of IE, open the file, it opens, by default change to "Windows Photo Gallery" doesn't work... I am confused?

    Hello

Welcome to the community of Windows Vista answers.

    Method 1:

This can happen in the database that keeps track of all the photos and videos in your collection is damaged. You can rebuild your database by:

    (1) close Windows Live Photo Gallery

    (2) · Click Start

    (3) · Click on my computer

    (4) · Paste this address into the address field %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Photo Gallery

    (5) · Right-click Pictures.pd5

    (6) click on rename

    (7) · Change the name of the file to OLD_Pictures.pd5

    (8) · Restart the computer and then try to open the Windows Photo Gallery.

    Method 2:
Try using the tool (SFC.exe) System File Checker to check and repair corrupt system files.  To do this, follow these steps:

    How to run scan SFC

    1. click on the Start button

    2. on the Start Menu, click all programs followed by accessories

    3. in the menu accessories, right-click on command line option

    4. in the drop-down menu that appears, click the "Run as Administrator" option

5 If you have the enabled User Account Control (UAC) you will be asked to consent to the opening of the command line. You simply press the button continue if you are the administrator or insert password etc.

    6. in the command prompt window, type: sfc/scannow then press enter

    7. a message is displayed to indicate that "the analysis of the system will start.

    8. be patient because the analysis may take some time

    9. If all of the necessary files any replacement SFC will replace them. You may be asked to insert your Vista DVD for this process to continue

    10. If all goes although you should, after the analysis, see the following message "Windows resource protection not found any breach of integrity.

11 after the scan finished, close the command prompt window reboot the computer and check.

  • Win7 anomalies__ Task Scheduler

Recently, as soon as I open the Task Scheduler, "" error message: the specified account name is not valid "appears." The same message is displayed for each task. When I "ESC" for each task (the only way to remove the error messages), I find myself where I should go in the first place, and where I see the CorruptionDetector and DecompressionFailureDetector of the tasks have yet again; Neither appears in the active tasks, strangely, so I can't make corrective changes.

The RACTask also disappeared entirely from work, and I don't know how to add it to check the reliability of the laptop. I have run the System Maintenance and no problems are detected. everything seems to work properly.

I simply ignored Task Scheduler in total, you know, the ostrich-head-in-the-sand routine and just go about my business of usual VAIO laptop that I use only for Internet. I thought I would mention it to you, dear friends... see what you think.

Oh, and I downloaded all updates for VAIO Care today only to find that the program is now completely corrupted, useless.

Very strange, huh? Or is my laptop under remote control of crackers?

You can try the steps below and check if this helps solve the problem.

  • How to use the Task Scheduler to send an email

I have Windows Live Mail + Windows 7

I want my computer to send an email to someone on his own. I opened the Task Scheduler and creates a new task using the Task Scheduler 'send and send '. The problem is that the program asks only me who he is, which comes from the e-mail and how to use smtp server... He doesn't ask for my mail server login and user name, so in theory it would be rejected... and when it comes to send the message, now it does nothing without any error message.

I have 2 settings of e-mail in Windows Live Mail accounts but how do I know the Task Scheduler program which includes use of e-mail and how to connect to the account to send it?

    best,

    Charlie

This task seems to be used only in limited circumstances where a local Windows based SMTP server is available and security credentials are already established.  There is an interesting discussion about this in
    http://social.technet.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/winservergen/thread/f087c57c-57b8-4c7f-ba2a-feb04c51f5ba

One of the links posted http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/WindowsServer2003/Library/IIS/e4cf06f5-9a36-474b-ba78-3f287a2b88f2.mspx?mfr=true indicate a possible way to do so by implementing a service SMTP with IIS, but many (I think that most) ISPS block Port 25 and who would probably be a problem.

It looks like using a 3rd party to contact the external mail server might be the best bet.

'Charlie Cooper' wrote in the new message: * e-mail address is removed from the privacy... *

Thanks for your reply, but I'm looking to make use of the 'send an Email' task which included in Task Scheduler... is something that has been there for a while and I've never understood how it would work... I open the Task Scheduler, create a "fundamental task" and click 'send', but I is not even asking me my user name or password? only the smtp server and the email I want to use!

  • Cannot enable Task Scheduler

I have a HP Pavilion MS227 with Windows 7 Home Premium. Try to activate the Task Scheduler, so I can defragment. When I right click on the Task Scheduler in system, starting services appears not highlighted so I can enable it. I ran antivirus and software anti malware programs with no luck. Any suggestions?

    Hello

I suggest you ensure that all your Services have the boot by default settings, but you need another computer running Windows 7 64 bit to export the registry data of.

Another method to do this would be to download the file at the link below (downloads are towards the bottom of the page) and then merge it with your registry as described in the article.  Note:  Generally, it is not a good idea to add registry files downloaded from the internet, but these are good - you can also check the entries that will be merged beforehand uncompressing the file, then open it in Notepad.

    Windows 7 SP1 Services.

    Services of Windows 7.

    When finished, restart the PC.

  • Cannot find a scheduled task in Task Scheduler

I just do a new task using Task Scheduler in Windows 7.
When I did, I searched in the Task Scheduler program and noticed a few things.

First, there is no "Search" feature in the program of Task Scheduler, that's why I can't understand, it should really be a search function.

Secondly, there is no task of 'new' or 'custom' folder, I searched through each of these tasks folders and I can't find my job anywhere.

I want to find it so that I can disable and re-create it for another time, but I can't find the thing.

Can someone help me out here? I got lost. They don't really make this user friendly program.
