  Windows XP Media Center is available for OEM only and if you don't have a motherboard the OEM valid, it will not activate.

  The only option would be to get a newer version of Windows if your system supports or get an OEM motherboard (HP) that you can use the recovery on.

  My Windows Media Center worked very well and I was receiving many channels of television to the present. This morning I had to uninstall my 2009 trend micro software and then install the software of micro trend 2010. All this went well and it had no effect on Windows Media Center. I then tried to watch TV and I get an error message saying: TV stations must be offline or check the attenna. I get channels on my regular TV so TV stations broadcast. I disconnected my attenna and plugged into a different attenna. Still nothing. I tried to reconfigure WMC for a tv signal and I get a message saying that nothing can be found. I try manually configure and I get a message saying that a Hauppauge WIN TV 885 is available but is not selected. So I guess there is a problem with the Tuner? Everything worked fine yesterday.

My setup is that the card is connected to the digital receiver via composite cables. It has a remote control and an its own ir blaster, but apparently that is not good enough for media center.   The Netflix in Windows Media Center Extender works for me but very recently the ability to search other titles give me an error dialogue box titled: text of The Application error : there is a problem with the application at this time. Try again later. Is followed by a different error dialog box: Service unavailable, text: this service is currently unavailable.

  The web interface works very well. I love the interface with Media Center, but the inability to search makes it tedious. I'll have to add things in my instant queue by using a browser to be able to click on it in my queue in Media Center. Any ideas. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling as admin, and compensation on the IE cache.

  I have an Advent 8111 laptop and I am trying to format the hard drive and reinstall Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. I have a copy of the Widows XP MCE 2005 to my IT Department at my workplace as they said that they could download and burn for me quickly!
  but after formatting the hard drive and the partion on my laptop I have to type my product key, which I got from the bottom of the laptop. The error window pops up saying "you entered the CD key is not valid" and I don't see any other option to have passed this stage. I contacted ADVENT but they were not able to help.
