include subfolders when importing

Is there a way to tell LR to import subfolders when you select a folder (I can do this, but I have to manually select the folders)

I would like this to be automatic so that I can just click on the button to import an existing catalog and get updates of added files. I already have more than 4,000 pictures in folders, and I don't want to go and find all the things I've added since the last import.

In the upper-left corner of the import dialog by clicking on the icon of the source should present you with a few options.

In earlier versions of Photoshop Elements you could exclude subfolders when you import photos from files and folders.  In version 10 of the "get photos from subfolders" is grayed out.  I don't normally want to include subfolders during import.  I want only the top folder of the current page.  Why the change?

    Hello

    Just another thought.

I tried now versions 9 and 10 on a Windows 7 system and both work the same. The "include subfolder" box is not active until I select a folder on the right side - a selection on the side left is not activate it.

What operating system do you use?

  • Problem importing and including subfolders without question marks

I am trying to import a folder of vacation pictures. It has 5000 photos and there are many subfolders. It is important where I want to, but it gives me question marks on all subfolders. And subfolders are empty, even if he tells me how many photos in the folder. I right click the question marked records, then point out where they are, and he's saying they're already here and I want to merge the files. In the import I said to include subfolders. I tried this twice and each time the same results. Very frustrating to have to scroll through thousands of photos. what I am doing wrong.

What happens if you right-click on the E in folder in the library and select hide this Parent. You can make it go again.

  • How to select the photos I want to import in the import Windows 7 Wizard, and how to change their name to a group of the name custom when importing?

Has features missing from Windows XP in Windows 7?

I'm doing a simple import of photos using the option 'Import pictures and videos using Windows' native Autoplay.

In Windows XP, I could choose what images to import and give them all the basic name custom during the import process, with each photo added later with a "001", "002" etc using the scanner and Camera Wizard.  It is very convenient because it could have been hundreds of photos on some of my cards from a long period of shots, I could run the tool more than once for different groups of photos that I would choose Import, and the pictures would be get named sequentially and stored in their files you want immediately.  I imported thousands of photos in this way.

This new tool for Windows 7 allows me to add tags to all of the photos on the cards and devices and name photos after their date, or on the label, or other combinations of that... but why doesn't this new tool in Windows 7 suppose I want to import every single photo on the card device / I just connect and more that I want them all to have the same tag assigned to them?  It's stupid and useless - there, makes only has pictures of a theme on their card at any time that they connect to import their photos and always wants to import everything each time?

To illustrate this point, let's look at my current situation.  I'm just on vacation in Europe and took pictures to more than one place, I visited, of course and now I would like to mark photos with the location of the names individually... or even more, I would like to actually name photos when importing with the name of the place in the picture.  Scanner and digital camera Assistant & would do that, no problem - you just had to run the tool once for each different group name, then select the appropriate images to import with the same group name.  It has been easy.  This type of naming is far superior to the addition of tags to images named simple-list or date-wise because you can tell what the image file in your library that you want to open just by going to (or get) the group name.  Want to see pictures of St. Peter's Basilica?  If you named the photos with that (added with 001, 002 etc), then simply browse to that name in your folder of photos «The Italy, holiday 2010»  Without trying to find photos Tags into the sea by the name of "IMG20100324005" - soup and no program Photo Gallery Windows Live Photos or necessary Picasa.

This new program in Windows 7 for the import of images does not appear to be able to handle the very handy feature of its predecessor Windows XP.  It's very frustrating to have opted for the version of Windows newer and supposed to be 'better' but find several programs that have been very useful for XP have valuable features removed or are no longer present at all (like how Windows 7 is no longer a Clipboard Viewer - that has great idea that is?).

So is it possible to recover the image import feature I apparently lost by 'redevelopment' of Windows Windows 7?  I could of course go and buy an image import and edition program (Smart Photo Import very nice for the price, a quick search I just do), but as this feature was native in Windows XP it is still stupid to have to buy a 3rd party simply program now because Microsoft does not understand the idea of keeping popular features in their software and seems rather "he dumb down.

Any help to select the pictures I want to import and naming them when importing with a custom group name using the import wizard would be greatly appreciated... + 10 GB of photos and videos of this trip is sitting & waiting for a solution!

    Questions 1)

Not because the LRDATA file is fair previews, what LR displays on your screen for a faster loading of the image and will be recreated. The previews only stored in the folder LRDATA is the basic overview created at time of importation for the display of thumbnails and previews of 1:1 for images that you have actually looked in the Loupe View or I guess that appears in the develop module.

He get all the data to create the image themselves file extracts.

If you have several files on your system that have pictures in them and you select one of them that you have not looked at in a while, you will notice LR creation of previews for these images, there will be 3 white dots in the upper right corner of the thumbnail. It's LR creation of previews for the thumbnail view. If you scroll quickly in the grid view, you'll notice a few thumbnails of images are gray, until you stop scrolling, then the upper left tile will come in clear view and the white dots will appear on the other images. It's LR creating previews for those of other images. Once LR created the preview of thumbnails that are on your screen, white spot will disappear. If you scroll down again, you will see more white dots

If you switch to another folder that LR begins again create preview images in this folder. The total number of previews created and stored based on caching of the preview you have in the catalog settings dialog in the management of the files tab.

If not, you need not the LR Previews.lrdata folder. Whenever LR is not very good this folder with a catalog he recreates it to store previews in.

  • 6.3 Lightroom (Mac) freezes when importing

    Hi all

Due the fact that Apple has stopped development of opening I had to do a switch after several years of feeling 100% comfortable with an opening. After some research, it became clear that most of the people would recommend Lightroom. So I bought a copy.

Import of my opening book is very well and included all my projects and notes (very important!). So far so good.

Now, I tried to import photos newly shot of my Nikon D7100. Tried with the cable. Tried with the SC card in my Macbook Air. Lightroom still freezes when importing or is back with the 'message' that none of the pictures could be read.

Returned to the opening. Connected to the camera. Quick import and 100% OK.

I can't believe that Adobe releases a new version with such a major problem... Very frustrating... want my money back!

Can anyone help? Is that a known issue - the fixes proposed in the forums don't work not (import options)? Will there be an update to Lightroom soon?

    Thank you!

    Config:

-Macbook Air 2012, 1, 7GHz Intel Core i5, 4 GB RAM, 480 GB SSD Jetdrive (45 GB free event with library, Aperture and Lightroom to 150 GB each)

    -Mac OS 10.11.2

    -Adobe Lightroom 6.3

Yes, please try to import images to another location.

Also, make sure that you have read and write access on the location where you import the images.

  • Not intentional develop Preset applied when importing - Lightroom CC (2015)

This week (April 25, 2015), I upgraded to LRCC (2015) 8.1 for Windows and Mac OSX Yosemite and today I imported 400 + RAW images, felled at a concert of music from last night in my Windows box. I do not use import Presets, preferring to the hand-to indicate the my options at the time of importation.

Today, I chose my usual Preset to develop... 'Profile goal, by default, that does what it says on the Tin - apply the default lens profile import. There nothing else... or so I thought.

After that importation, I noticed that images looked a bit "weird" and I checked the story... the default lens profile has shown in history (except an entry "Of Metadata" that I had not seen before, but suppose a reference using the keywords applied when importing). The 'strangeness' was in fact caused by one another develop preset called "Cave in rock" (a custom preset, I designed myself) and, if by chance or not, was be the first Preset in my list. Checking the settings to develop on the right panels, confirmed all the 400 + images had been imported with the cave in the rock applied.

I checked the history of a random selection of 12 images; all showed the parameters of development, such as applied, but none showed the name preset in the history panel. My custom "cave in rock" this DOES have the preset 'Goal profile, default' included in it, but maybe it's a coincidence.

I import RAW of Canon CR2 to a 5 d Mk III files, convert to DNG and build 1:1 previews. Adobe has changed the import process in LRCC.

I returned to import LR5.7 to try it, but it does the same thing now, which he has not really done it before! The Presets have been improved as part of the transition to the DRES?

    Everyone knows about this phenomenon?

the metadata entry I think that means that he support parameters of a metadata xmp file that is next to your raw files. There are everything in the folder you are importing from? If you shot raw + JPEG, the instructions may be in the JPEG file.

In any case it is easy to fix. Just select them in the library grid view and press reset. Reapply the correction of lens preset and sync.

IT is possible that you inadvertently set a default value for the camera.  You can try to reset those preferences-> presets if reset the images don't come back to where it should.

  • Filtering of images in subfolders when you browse a volume

Hi all. Here what I hope to do: If, for example, I want to add 'image.jpg' located in the folder "my pictures."

But I have many more photos in the MyPictures folder - and more importantly, many, many more subfolders:

    MyPictures > Folder1

    MyPictures > Folder2

    MyPictures > Folder3 > Subfolder2.1

    My images > Folder4

and so on. In the import screen, if I select my images, it not only shows me miniature previews of the images in my images, but those of ALL of the subfolders that are.

Is there a way to show glimpses of the ONLY selected folder, and not the subfolders it contains?

    FWIW, it's LR 3.2 Mac OS 10.6.5

In the import dialog box, there is a checkbox at the top of the Source Panel that says "include subfolders" - which disables.  If you need the same thing in the main module of the library, library menu > show pictures in subfolders.

  • Rearrange the objects when importing

    Dear experts,

I want to import into a new database, a schema that in the source database has tables and indexes mixed on the same tablespace.

I would like to separate the tables of indexes on different tablespaces when importing.

is it possible to do this with impdp? How?

    Thank you
    Serra

I assume you have something like this:

    table_1 tablespace tbs_1
    table_2 tablespace tbs_2
    table_3 tablespace tbs_3
    index_1 tablespace tbs_1
    index_2 tablespace tbs_2
    index_3 tablespace tbs3

and you want all the tables in a tablespace and all indexes of the tablespace

    table_1 tablespace tbs_1
    table_2 tablespace tbs_1
    table_3 tablespace tbs_1
    index_1 tablespace tbs_2
    index_2 tablespace tbs_2
    index_3 tablespace tbs_2

If this is the case, the only way I can think to do this is by mutiple as follows:

import with exclude = index and a bunch of remap_tablespace:

    REMAP_TABLESPACE:tbs2:tbs_1, tbs_3:tbs_1 exclude = index

The above command will create all tables in the same tablespace and load all the data.

Then run a second impdp with

    REMAP_TABLESPACE:tbs1:tbs_2, tbs_3:tbs_2 include = index

This command only import the index and create them in the tbs_2 tablespace.

If you have a different problem, please show us by example.

    Thank you

  • Improve when importing photos

In the opening that you used to be able to apply-auto-enhance photos like they were imported.  This has saved be a job having to do it later.  I am also pleased with the results of her auto-améliorer in 99% of situations.  I have now taken pictures but I don't see a similar option on import - no one knows if it is available?  Also and if not possible when importing - y at - it a suite of choice a lot of pictures and then applying the setting to improve in bulk?

    Thanks in advance.

There is no automatic to apply when importing adjustment.

And you can't batch apply adjustment either. It is limited compared to the opening.

What you can do, however, is to adjust a photo you like.  Then copy ⇧⌘C and paste this setting for a different picture with ⇧⌘V

You must be in edit mode to be able to copy and paste adjustments.  But you can use the arrow keys to advance to the next photo, without leaving edit mode.

And you can send a feature request to Apple: Apple - Photos - comments

  • W7 desktop background slideshow stopped, including subfolders

I have W7 Home premium 64 bit on 2 computers laptops home.

For about 2 years I had (on both of them) wallpaper slide show set to show pictures of my images, change from time to time. This big folder contains many subfolders. Recently, it seems that the slide show does not include the contents of all the sub folders, only the photos in the folder root itself. There is no option to 'include subfolders' on the settings for wallpaper window.
Playback of other users having the same question on their PC, I don't think that it is a bug that popped up right on my machines, but it seems that Windows has decided to remove this feature for reasons unknown.
On another thread on the same topic on this site, I followed someone's suggestions to solve the problem, for example by creating a new user of the PC, etc. None of this has worked.
    Could you clarify our position?
    Thank you

I think I found a solution for me.

Previously, as I said, I had my images selected, and it automatically used the photos of all of its subfolders. It is more the fact, but if I select Photo library as a source instead of this, it uses all of the subfolders without me having to 'include' all one by one (which makes no difference).
But I am not wiser about why the screen saver functionality has changed in this way. I don't see how it could be down to any 'changes' I made to my PC.
