Included files specified by the user for the Windows backup

When I initially put a backup on Windows 7 Windows some time ago, I think I chose "LET me CHOOSE" so I could specify me what files it backs up.  I guess when do you first, unless Windows presents you with a set by default important files and folders checked for this, but I don't remember for sure.

Looking at it now, I see that the USERS folder is not checked as one of the folders to back up.  It would certainly be one of the folders are important to save, right?

I see that the PROGRAM DATA is also disabled, worries me.

Y at - it a hand where I could get a list of what files are checked only if you choose to LET WINDOWS CHOOSE, so I could make sure than those appearing in my own ME LEAVE CHOOSE Setup?

Backup only works on data files, no settings, folders are shown are those available for backup.

my computer uses of Windows Vista Home Basic.

    Hello

N ° as you have Vista Home Basic, you are just to save your own personal files (photos, music, documents, etc.), do not make a backup of the computer that would include updates, as the backup of the computer is an image of the operating system installed on the specified Date, it's done.

To save all (backup of the computer), you should have Vista Business, Ultimate or enterprise.

Here's a Guide on how you use Vista data backup:

    Hi DottieCalli,

You can try to check if the file is displayed in the startup items. If so, you can try to disable the option to disable the file in the startup items.

  • I have that one saved backup system, is there a reason to keep additional files prior to the last backup of system? I can remove them systematically?

I run the Windows Image backup to a hard drive external on a weekly schedule. The result shows on the hard drive as "WindowsImageBackup\(User name)-PC\Backup (date) (number)"-currently about 80 GB (binary).

I reserve about 135 GB of available space for backups of the system, so I save only the last backup of the system.

So far, I have no problem with that.

However, the disk hard, there is another folder '(USER NAME)-PC' & under which is a folder "backup of files (date) (number)" for each time that the backup system runs.

These files vary considerably in size - for example, 1 GB, 12 GB, 22 GB. They delete or replace automatically - just, they accumulate.

What I want to know is ~.

What is the purpose\importance of these additional files?

Since I only have a single saved backup, is there a reason to keep additional files prior to the last backup of system? I can remove them systematically?

    Original title: Windows Image backup

    Hello

    Thanks for the reply.

File '(Computer name)-PC "contains the files necessary for the Windows. Data files saved in libraries, on the desktop, and if the Windows folders for all people with a user account on the computer are also recorded.

[The default Windows folders include AppData, Contacts, desktop, downloads, Favorites, links, saved parties and searches.]

The size of these files increases, because the content of the folders mentioned above increases.

    Thanks to Mir... for explanations.

I don't think I'm that close properly. I tried to shut down e-mail but think I did it without writing anything (what is now). I've been around all 22 replies and then got lost

I bought today the local backup from dell datasafe (cleverbridge).

  • I get the 0x8078012D error code when I run the Windows backup on an external hard drive.

I get the 0x8078012D error code when I run the Windows backup on an external hard drive.  I have Windows 7 Professional.  That suggests this error code is the problem and how can I solve the problem?

For people who read this thread, I offer the following information.  I solved the problem by noticing that the problem could have been caused, when the system image is created.  So I did a backup without creating the system image and backup is complete without error.

Then I used the backup program to create a system image.  This time error (0x8007045D) was displayed.   The error report says "the operation failed for a device error encountered with the source or the destination. If the volume of the source or the destination is on a disk, run CHKDSK /R on the source volume or destination and then try again using. »

So I ran chkdsk/r, and this program is a bad sector on the hard drive of my computer and fixed the error.  It took about an hour to run the program.  Now, the image of the system and the backup of data file work again.

So I think that the main cause of error (0x8078012D) is deborahgarbe of i/o error (0x8007045D).  So if you get the first error code you can search for fixes for the second error code fix the root cause.

  • The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices is associated to him. (0 x 80070422) attempt to run the Windows backup utility.

I get this message every time I try to run the Windows backup utility.  All the services are rundning according to the instructions of Microsoft experts on the same issue.

Original title: the service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices is associated to him. (0 x 80070422)

    Hi Charles,

Welcome to the community Microsoft and thanks for posting the question. I'll certainly try and help you perform the backup.

Until we start could you give us some more information?

    1. Since when are you facing the issue?

    2. you have any anti-virus installed on the computer program?

    3. What are the troubleshooting steps correct you have taken to correct the problem?

    4. are you aware of any changes made to the computer before the show?

I suggest you to re check the service as long as this error usually occurs if one of the services required for the backup Windows for work is disabled or has not started.

To check the services, click Start, in the Start Search bar type services , and then press enter.

Please check that the following services are enabled:

-"Remote Procedure Call" (RPCSS) must be active, Automatic.

'COM + Event System"(System events) must beactivated en, Manuel.

-'System Event Notification Service"(SENSE) must be active, Automatic.

-"Volume Shadow Copy" (VSS) must beactivated en, Manuel.

'Microsoft Software Shadow Copy provider' (SWPRV) must beactivated en, Manuel.

Once you make changes according to the above specifications, you can try a backup and check to see if that solves the problem.

I also suggest you to run a SFC scan (System File Checker). This will replace the corrupted Windows files.

With steam, it happens 100% of the time when he tries to update. I am trying to troubleshoot with them, but I strongly suspect that there is an underlying problem related to Windows. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

    Hello

Are you having the same problem during the download of Internet Explorer?

    Method 1:
I suggest you try the procedure described in the article and see if it helps.
Error "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file" when you try to install, update or launch a program or file
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2669244
Note: There is a risk of data loss if all the files are infected and which can be removed in the cleaning process.

    Method 2:
If the problem is not resolved I suggest you to save the files and run an upgrade on the spot to repair permissions.

How to perform an upgrade on the spot on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 & Windows Server 2008 R2

Warning: An upgrade on the spot is the final solution before you have to reinstall the operating system. Note that it takes as much time to do the upgrade as to reinstall the operating system. In addition, some of your custom Windows settings may be lost through this process.

Hope this helps and keep us posted.

  • In the Air of iOS, which is the path to the included file that exceeds the .fla file folder?

I have the 'assets' above 'src' folder folder where the .fla file is. The assets folder is included through air iOS publish setting in Adobe Flash Professional CS6, but I'm having trouble accessing it.

the directory structure looks like this. Main.As is the class of document for my project.

    c:
      /project
        /assets
        /bin
        /lib
        /src
          /Main.as
          /Main.fla

Now, if the project was a project of action script, I can normally access the assets folder using a path like "... / assets. But it says in the Air for iOS project, that the file is not there.

In the iOS Air publish setting window, it indicates the path to the included file is 'c:\project\assets' while when I move the active folder under folder src, he says just 'active' and then it can be accessed simply by using a path like '\assets '.

Does anyone have an idea where the included file?

It was that I had to simply put "/" in front of the track. I was able to access the directory of iOS using ' / assets "instead of just"active "... I still need to use ' c: / project/assets "to access the directory from my local pc from my directory the document root is ' c: / project/assets/src" but I guess that's no big deal. Thanks for your advice.

  • Changing to a new computer from vista to windows 7. My file transfer and deletion of personal information, including files from my old computer for security reasons

I'm about to change my old computer (windows vista) to a new all-in - one computer that has windows 7. Am I right in thinking that I can transfer my files incl. photos to an external hard drive and then plug that to my new download or is it more than that. Also, I have macafee protection on my old computer and don't know how to transfer to my new one cos I don't think that's it (we bought it second hand on ebay), and this should be done first.

Finally how to make sure that none of my personal information is nowhere on my old for security reasons?

I would appreciate any advice, thanks

    Several options;

    (1) simple, connect you external hard drive copy data

Or use the backup software which may be preinstalled on the outside

    (2) for easy transfer Windows http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-GB/Windows7/Products/features/Windows-Easy-Transfer

    Old PC;

The windows recovery discs to retrieve destructively to factory settings

    McAfee

Uninstall on the old PC to the new PC, uninstall any trial version pre-installed anti-virus, reboot, reinstall McAfee from original installation media using your key

    New PC

Make sure that it has been reset to the State of the plant, before you do something with it, because you don't know what the previous user used during or installed on it.
