Incompatible device software Passport blackBerry

Hi all

in December last year, I had to bring my passport, due to a sound problem, today I come back a new device and wantedt o restore the backup I took by bringing the device for.

The previous passport has been run the latest version of the operating system and the new device also comes with the latest OS loaded. After the basic including incoming settings in my Blackberry ID I plug it on my Macbook and start to Link Blackberry. The device comes back and I am able to do all operations outside to do a restore to a previous backup fact, I saved 3 backup files and record the work. The message I get is:

Software incompatible device.

This backup file is not compatible with the version of the software for the device that you are running. Update your device software and try again.

So I did, I did a factory restore, checked if the latest updates are installed, and it still gives me this message. On the side of Mac, I tried to uninstall Blackberry link and installed again but doen't help.

Can someone help me?

Thank you

W.

Hello, as mentioned, both devices have a passport for Blackberry and both were running the latest version of the operating system.

Hello

Technically, there is no such thing as 'later' when discussing a version of the OS. 'later' is a variable, controlled by different entities (usually the carrier). It is therefore much more critical to state the exact OS that each device is / was running, so that it can be properly compared in situations like this. Based on the information as planned so far, we can only deduce that the earlier device had a very different level of operating system that the new, regardless of what 'later' may or may not mean. Reference:

Unless you can get the new device on the same OS as the old we were running at the time when you took the backup, then it is not possible for you to use the backup files for Aboriginal people (e.g., based on LINKS restoration). If you can determine the version of the OS that performed the previous device in the latest backup, you can use an automatic charger to get the new feature on this version, and then restore backup files.

There will be a possibility on this process, however. If, for example, the old device was on the OS 10.3.1 branch during the last backup, and the new device is now on the 10.3.2 branch, then you will be blocked from decommissioning of the new device to the 10.3.1 branch by none, whatsoever, including the automatic charger. 10.3.2 introduced the compulsory anti-theft function, which includes a solid block, preventing relief what before 10.3.2.xxxx.

I hope that you used "best practices" to use an OTA service (e.g., Outlook.com, Gmail, etc.) as the 'master' for your PIM data (calendar, contacts, etc.) instead of just "local" data for these. If Yes, then you simply have to re-enter the account to the new device and the data will be conscientiously fill with the OTA service. And then you can continue to follow the instructions provided in the KB to manually move the non - PIM data (e.g., pictures, videos, documents, etc.) from the old to the new device.

Good luck and let us know!

  • Differences between the version of BlackBerry Device Software and platform. Help, please...

    Hi guys!

    I'm really confused... Help, please!

We have developed applications for our customers. We tested with our BB8700 and it works fine.

We used JDE4.2 for development... and we think that it will work on v4.2 based handsets.

But our customers wrote that it works on v3.7. Why? Is this possible?

I looked at the information about my 8700 device and then noticed: v4.2.1.107 (platform v2.3.0.84)

-What are the differences between the version of BlackBerry Device Software and platform?

Possible customers spoke of version 3.7 of the platform?

There is a list of the devices, where we can find the version of BlackBerry Device Software by BlackBerry device model?

Or where we can find information about the models of devices that will support our application?

    Thanks in advance!

AFAIK there is no version 3.7 platform.

Customer talking about the OS version.

So, if they have the device OS version 3.7 you must use JDE JDE 3.6, 3.7 or older.

Or take updated device OS if the necessary software is available.

  • How to charge BB device software classic classic blackBerry

I have had trouble with bugs in my classic and tried to reload the software on the BB link.  I am running BB version 1.2.4.39 link and went to 'preferences', then "Reload Device Software".  I'm invited to accept that he will wipe away all my data and product to search for updates.  While it is looking for updates, the phone I plugged in via USB cable stops and restarts.  Update says there is no update, the phone restarts and gives me no option to reload the software.

I'm doing something wrong?  Can someone help me?

    Hello

FYI, Update Web site is exactly that... updates. LINK and/or automatic charger can provide a real own refill.

Official methods, which will be controlled as to what exact OS versions are available:

Non-official methods, which are cleaner and allow you to choose a version of the OS that maybe your carrier (or anyone they control your offers) delays in approval:

Of course, before you start this, you want a good backup link, a manual copy of the memory of your device to your PC and complete documentation of your configuration (identification information of account, adding applications, configurations, etc.). Sometimes, restoring a backup returns unit corruption even, must be eliminated and reconfiguration from scratch can solve that.

Be aware of the risks of 10.3.2 however... There are two things to worry about. First of all, be 100% sure that you know your BBID identifiers... If you do not, you may make your useless device to anyone, including yourself. Second, once you move to 10.3.2, you cannot fall back to 10.3.1 or earlier, by any medium (for example, even the unofficial AutoLoaders can not overcome this restriction anti-secours).

    Good luck!

  • I could develop Java Application for Blackberry device software version 5.0 to 6.0 JDE

    Hi, expert,

I saw this line of the ' BlackBerry Java Development Environment - 4.7.0 - fundamentals Guide'.

    It is said:

    ===============================

With each major version of the BlackBerry Device Software and the FMV of BlackBerry, Research In Motion includes the
corresponding Java API and version of the BlackBerry® Java® development environment. The version of the BlackBerry device
Software determines the version of the BlackBerry® integrated development environment that you can use to develop
applications. For example, RIM released BlackBerry Device Software version 4.0 and BlackBerry JDE version 4.0 in even
time. BlackBerry JDE version 4.0 supports APIs that were introduced in BlackBerry Device Software version 4.0
    and BlackBerry JVM version 4.0.

The applications that you create by using BlackBerry JDE Version 4.0 only work on BlackBerry devices
running BlackBerry Device Software version 4.0 or later.

    =========================

The last sentence talking about version 4.0 of JDE. I think that would mean that I could not develop a java application on JDE 6.0 for Blackberry 5.0 version of the software, even if I do not use any new API to 6.0. However, it seems to me that it is a useless limitation. Could someone throw some lights on it?

I'm going to agree with superdirt here.

I have the 5.0 OS update of applications work well on OS 5.0, 6.0 and 7.0 of the OS OS phones.  I try not to recompile for levels of the OS, if I can, and so far I've been perfectly safe with OS 5.0 running on the later levels of the operating system.  So you should be able to get away with just using OS 5.0.

Not that it is important for you, but I just thought I documents some historical information about level changes.  .

As far as I know it 2 change cod in the file format, one to the 4.0 OS and the other in OS 4.2.  Therefore, if you want to run anything in OS 6.0 or above, it must be compiled in OS 4.2 or higher.  Again, I have applications compiled to OS 4.2 running on OS 6.0, without no problem devices.

There have been changes to the API - the result is that the code that works in OS xx does not work in OS yy where yy is after xx.  I hit a few of them and have so far managed to rework the code so that it works very well on both levels of the operating system.  In general it is things that I do wrong anyway, as the older operating systems (from memory) are not as strict on when the event Thread must be used.

The problem with OS 4.7 compatibility is an impact and to get more of this, for devices touch screen only, I compile using OS 4.7.  If an application that uses only the functionality that was available in the OS 4.2, I compile on OS 4.2 for non touch screen phones and OS 4.7 for touchscreen phones.  And everything works fine.

    I hope this helps.

Hello and welcome to the community!

    brunostyle wrote:

This bit is quite unusual... done correctly, you can force any OS on your BB package as long as it's your exact model number. So I'm not sure if you're really using all the good stuff... so, even if a lot of this will be redundant, please examine carefully for subtle tricks do you need to... done correctly, this can heal the situation. But any errors on the way (not ignored, stage not completed correctly, etc.) invalidates the whole process and translates the automatic process of support and limited to only the OS packages currently supported by your specific carrier.

The easiest way is, on a PC (you can not do on MAC):

    (1) make sure that you have a current backup and your BB complete... you can find the instructions at the link in my auto-sig below.

    2) uninstall all the BB OS packages from your PC,

    (3) make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed

    (4) download and install on your computer, the BB OS package you want:

    • If all you want are the levels of BONE, it is first sorted by carrier - the carrier supports, your search will be fast. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To really get the package up-to-date OS for your BB, you need to dig through and find all businesses that support your specific model BB and then compare the BONE levels they support.

    5) remove all copies of the SELLER on your PC. XML... There will be at least one and maybe 2, and they will be located in the same way or to (it changes based on your version of Windows) these files:

    • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    • C:\Users\(your Windows username) \AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

6 (a) to change your level of BB OS installed (at level or lower), you can run the Desktop software and connect your BB... the software should offer the operating system package you have installed on your PC.

6 (b) or, for recharging your BB OS level installed as well to change, work around the Desktop software and use the CHARGER. EXE directly, through step 2 in this process:

If, during the process of 6a or 6 b, your BB has an error '507', simply unplug the USB of the BB cord and reinsert it. do nothing else... This should allow the installation to continue.

You can also study the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe what he is capable.

You can also try the "skeleton OS Reload procedure" in an attempt to circumscribe the precise causal element:

    1. Load your OS "bare bones"... If everything is optional, do not install it.
    2. If the behavior is immediately, then try another OS with step 1
    3. If the behavior does not immediately, then run for as long as necessary to make you to be sure that the behavior will not occur.
    4. Add one more thing - no matter how tempting, one.
    5. If the behavior does not immediately present, and then runs for long enough to be sure he won't have the same problem
    6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are responsible or the behavior presents

When the behavior shows up, you know the culprit... the last thing you have loaded.

If the behavior doesn't re-present, then you know that step 1 or 2 cured it.

If the behavior has anything, then you have probably a problem of material level for which no amount of OS or software can heal.

You may also use these tips:

If you are on a MAC, you are limited to only your sanctioned carriers OS packages... but can still use any level they currently have to sanction. See this procedure:

The Interface of Messages is against the databases on the BB... Watch a saved messages can be as simple as a filter that is applied to display only those, but always from the same database. As I said, I suspect saved SMS Messages to be a subset of the base of great set 'SMS Messages"together with the message 'saved' being a subset within this database.

I can't answer definitively for you because I've never had the problem you are experiencing. You may need to test to know for sure.

  • Upgrade to Smartphones blackBerry device software

Hi, I downloaded a v4.6.0.126 of software for device updated after finding the link in another thread.

In my DM when I click on and then go in the device software tab it shows there like v4.6.0.126 4.0.0.135 platform, so I installed it all correctly.

My question is, how to install some applications of this new operating system updated on my phone?

I found another thread that has steps to do this, but I can't seem to make it work.

Whenever I click on the application loader the only things in the list are what I downloaded manually i.e. google map, nav4all.

I would not see a list off apps like blackberry maps, Messenger etc.?

    -Download the software update

-Run and install the newly downloaded program.

-Do not check the option to open the Office Manager at the completion of the installation.

-Go to C:\Program Files Research In Motion\AppLoader and delete Vendor.xml

    -Connect the BlackBerry to USB

    -Open the Desktop Manager

You will be prompted for the update at this point. (Otherwise select Application Loader) and you will get the prompt for updating.

Note: Before performing an update of the OS, it's a good idea to back up your BlackBerry, just in case something goes wrong.

It also seems that RIM is developing a BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac.  A catch-all current installation files are made for Windows, it will be not as easy as you might think.  Sounds this good, this is the first step towards the development of records for Mac OS installer that can be run off BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac.  Now, is the last part of this speculation on my behalf, so don't hold me to it then I have absolutely no idea when it might come out, but it gives hope!  Keep an eye on official news on this as soon as it is available.

Next option is to use the Wireless Upgrade option if your provider supports.  For example, I know that Verizon will allow upgrades wireless directly on your phone, no need for a computer at all.  Ask your carrrier for more information.

As an alternative, you can also go to your BlackBerry dealer and ask them to update your phone for you.  Most of the dealers will be repeated, especially if they are not too busy.

And another well - ask a friend with a PC please, pretty please allow you to use their computer for the upgrade.

In any case, although that there no incredibly easy solution, I hope that the foregoing shows that it is not a hopeless case and options are available.

EDIT: Beaten to the punch of sdgardne!
