InCopy (Windows) + InDesign (Mac) cross-platform coworking

Hello everyone.

We have designers working on Mac and the editors working on the Windows laptops in our society. Both platforms have CS6 InCopy and InDesign installed and fonts are fixed for both platforms work in both directions. But colleagues always complain of errors what incopy gives when editor trying to do anything with the .indd file open. Which means that the file opens OK, you see, but as soon as you try to add a note or edit the text it gives and error. Sorry, I had to blur the full path, but the idea is on the screenshot:

The file people work with lies on the public server, someone has access to these files, is not the permissions problem.

Does anyone have an idea if it is possible to work with comfort using different operating systems?

Note: the same actions flow works perfectly when using the combination of Mac to Mac.

Hello JohanThege , your server is Mac or PC?

Our server was MAC, but we had a lot of problems. We now have a PC. If your PC is also wary of file names.

If resolve anything, try to work with InCopy package, but in this case, the file is locked in .indd.

Hug!

I bought creative suite for my student daughter CS4, version student about £500 - (no wonder PTA are broke) she need only photoshop and illustrator, but the cost of these programs separately was more than the entire suite.

She wanted to upgrade just photoshop and illustrator, CS5, but apparently you can do, you must update all the more... for another beautiful award. (adobe did not bother explaining this issue when buying)

She had CS4 on his desktop PC and on his cell phone. Laptop broke, and being an art student, she decided to buy a MACbook. (without my knowledge, but I can understand his reasons)

MOM software does not work on my MAC!

Now, we are facing the whole PC - MAC cross platform question.

She can upgrade to CS5 and change the license for MAC, but then she can't use it on his PC.

After reading it was yet another version, now CS 5.5, I just got tired of Adobe, it's fresh and how to total crap that he treats his customers, the lack of flexibility, the price that really are paralyzing if its just something that soak you with occasionally, so she is going to use gimp.

Why can't make cross-platform software, even Corel Adobe offers that.

I can see why people eventually adobe software piracy, it seems that more than one easier option that pulling your hair out because you can't just get to level PS and Illustrator, but rather must upgade a whole series of things you never wanted nor will never need.

But the biggest nightmare, it's that you can't share the license of the software between a mac and a PC.

If it is incorrect, I wish someone could tell me, I tried adobe support and I was told I could upgrade to CS5 and change the Mac platform. Once again for a fairly large amount.

It was after I asked the question "can I share the software on PC and MAC?

CS4 was fine, she didn't want CS5 or CS 5.5... all she wanted was to be able to occasionally use two software programs that cost £500 at a time of its computers, a mac a pc.

guardians of course expect to have a PS... (most children, but they seem to all have hacked their)

We descended the respectable road honest and bought the software thinking it would last him the 3 years at University... oh jeez.

Sorry to hear the difficulties you and your daughter have had.  Certainly, you drive safer to buy your software, as many illegal downloads are laced with viruses and can do much harm.

Regarding the policy on the extensions, it generates an exchange of views.  But there still is a (little known) way buy Adobe CS5 multi-platforms to install on Windows and Mac OS, even if it would require a new update for you now.

Hope this helps and good luck to your daughter in his studies.

  • License Windows CS6 to cross-platform conversion?

A year ago I bought CS6 Design Standard for Windows.  I recently replaced my Windows laptop with a Mac, but my desktop is still a Windows machine.  I disabled my Windows laptop CS6 and ideally, I would like to be able to install my second copy on my Mac laptop, but obviously licenses based on platforms prevent me to do easily.  Is it possible I can activate a copy on my Windows desktop and a laptop Mac without having to purchase a new license altogether?

    Thank you!

To do this, you will need to get a subscription to creative cloud. It can be used for both computers with Mac/Windows, or the Mac or Windows.

This option is not available for the Creative Suite products.

  • Which platform for my Adobe Photshop Lightroom 4.0 product? Windows or MAC or both?

    Dear Sir or Madam,

When I have a look at the Adobe products I purchased on the Adobe website, I see wirtten 'platform of several' ('several' I have the site French interface) for PLR4.

It does not work under Windows, but it works correctly on Apple MAC with my Windows license? For it is written 'several platform' for only this product in my Adobe account but that it says only Windows for all the other products that I have purchased from Adobe.

    Thank you for your answer

    Your faithfully

    Hi Ronan,.

Adobe photoshop lightroom you have under your account is cross-platform (Mac and Windows).

so you can install it on a mac and windows computer.

Acrobat STD is not available for Mac, you can install only the Acrobat Pro version.  Platform swap option is not available in this case, the product itself is different.

If its like version of Windows Acrobat pro, you can change it to Acrobat Pro Mac. But not Acrobat Std to Acrobat Pro.

  • Is it possible to move an OpenType font in Windows InDesign in InDesign Mac?

Specifically, I use the future for my publication on my Mac (InDesign CC 2015), but is TrueType.  I have run a virtual PC on my mac also have InDesign for windows on the virtual machine and the windows version of InDesign using OpenType in the future version.  So I was wondering if it is possible to migrate my windows InDesign to my mac InDesign OpenType future.

I want to do this because I use a bunch of ordinals, fractional and quotations in my work, and it seems it would be much easier to use an OpenType font so that these adjustments are made automatically.  Or maybe there is a way to get quotes to ordinals fractionals/smart/with TrueType fonts quite easily that I don't know everything.

    Thank you

Or, open the file in the Windows version of InDesign, use type > find font. Select the font, and then click the reveal button in explore.

  • Changing Photoshop cs6 platform from Windows to Mac

Change of platform Photoshop CS 6 from Windows to Mac. The question is what I have to buy a new license for Mac or make a credit for all the years that I've used your Photoshop product.

  • can I install photoshop on my computer mac laptop and my laptop as a backup? It works cross-platform?

    my purchase work cross platform?

It depends on what you bought.  If you ask about a subscription to creative cloud, then Yes, you can install and activate on one or two platforms.  If you ask about a version of CS, unless you have purchased a multiplatform license, which is not at all normal, you can use it on the platform for which the license has been generated.

  • How to create documents on the Windows-compatible Mac?

I just started a customer who uses InDesign and wanted me to learn the program so that they could make changes on their own in the future I create for them the working documents in InDesign.  I'm working on a Mac OS 10.6.2 they have PCs and work in a Windows environment.  I sent the first packed dvd for their printer and sent to them last week.  Everything was beautiful to this end, no error, packed with links and fonts.  When they received the disc the font files on the disk which seems perfect on my computer - on their computer to read them all as 0kb and they can't make it work.  I used type 1, truetype and open type fonts.  I just read something in an earlier discussion on true type and T1 as being problematic with the PC?  What can I do to make it compatible?

    (I hate PCs)

It is an independent forum of the platform. There are a lot of things to love or hatred in both PC and Mac, so we try to put aside this nonsense. If you take care to use the fonts that are useful cross-platform, as explained, all your files will be usable on either.

  • Boot camp unrecognized cross-platform records

So here's a little history, I had an installation work of Yosemite and Win 7 ultimate running on my MacPro 3.1 beginning 2008, saw disks cross-platform with the standard read write limits, data was all mixed-platform so I decided to backup my stuff at the same time, wipe and do a clean install, I only have a disc of snow leopard OSX so I wiped and did a clean install with one of there , I noticed there was a worm even newer to avalible OSX install El Capitan then I updated level and attempted to do a training camp, although bootcamp and apples website says that my machine would support 7 when you enter the disk, he said I could do only a win 8 64-bit installation, I did not no more nor want to. It's jogging my memory that I had to modify the plist for the first time I did this, so I started to do some reading and what appeared to be the fastest workaround has been download a copy of bootcamp 4, because the new version does not support mixed installation of the iso (32 & 64 bit ver on one disc) did the installation went well spent ran boot camp software Player was not grateful so I tried to connect to the internet and there was a problem any appeared adapters but I just couldn't join the network and other issues at random so I started back in OSX deleted the partition and booted, this time networking the problem has been resolved but hard disk recognition was still a question , from windows I can openboot camp software and select this option to start card, but can not see the player mac, Mac I see windows on the desktop player but does not not in the utility disc or bootcamp and a target boot disk.

Sorry for the long background but I seem not to be the only person having this problem perhaps this may help understand why its happening and lead to a better solution, aka prevent it

Here is the info that you seem to need to read the other discussions on this topic

I read the solution for the subjects to which I'm fairly certain that I'm having the same problem with and I am confident in preforming the required steps, like to confirm that, that is the question and what numbers should I use in my case for steps 7 and 8 and help is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Please after the release of

  • What is the right way to this cross-platform application?

    Hey y ' All

I am a multimedia application with LV2010 and I am trying to do cross-platform (win and mac os x).

The I need the feature requires the use of system libraries, I have access to enough similar functions in the two operating systems

(winmm.dll in windows, coreMidi.framework in mac OS X)

With the exception of the current system of appeals on the screws will be identical.

I can do the work of VI in a platform by using the call library function node, but I don't want to have two copies of everything.

I tried to do sub wrapper VI that puts the call library function node in a case statement and detects the OS but this VI will not executable due to dependencies (will not find the library referenced in one of the cases depending on the operating system you are running)

Is there any way I can specify what Subvi to load on a project or something to get this issue sorted dependency?

You want to encapsulate the platform-specific code in a conditional structure disable with a condition for each supported platform.  The symbol of the OS is already defined; see Help for the creation of disable Conditional Structures, which lists the predefined symbols and values.
