PC and MAC cross-platform

I bought creative suite for my student daughter CS4, version student about £500 - (no wonder PTA are broke) she need only photoshop and illustrator, but the cost of these programs separately was more than the entire suite.

She wanted to upgrade just photoshop and illustrator, CS5, but apparently you can do, you must update all the more... for another beautiful award. (adobe did not bother explaining this issue when buying)

She had CS4 on his desktop PC and on his cell phone. Laptop broke, and being an art student, she decided to buy a MACbook. (without my knowledge, but I can understand his reasons)

MOM software does not work on my MAC!

Now, we are facing the whole PC - MAC cross platform question.

She can upgrade to CS5 and change the license for MAC, but then she can't use it on his PC.

After reading it was yet another version, now CS 5.5, I just got tired of Adobe, it's fresh and how to total crap that he treats his customers, the lack of flexibility, the price that really are paralyzing if its just something that soak you with occasionally, so she is going to use gimp.

Why can't make cross-platform software, even Corel Adobe offers that.

I can see why people eventually adobe software piracy, it seems that more than one easier option that pulling your hair out because you can't just get to level PS and Illustrator, but rather must upgade a whole series of things you never wanted nor will never need.

But the biggest nightmare, it's that you can't share the license of the software between a mac and a PC.

If it is incorrect, I wish someone could tell me, I tried adobe support and I was told I could upgrade to CS5 and change the Mac platform. Once again for a fairly large amount.

It was after I asked the question "can I share the software on PC and MAC?

CS4 was fine, she didn't want CS5 or CS 5.5... all she wanted was to be able to occasionally use two software programs that cost £500 at a time of its computers, a mac a pc.

guardians of course expect to have a PS... (most children, but they seem to all have hacked their)

We descended the respectable road honest and bought the software thinking it would last him the 3 years at University... oh jeez.

Sorry to hear the difficulties you and your daughter have had.  Certainly, you drive safer to buy your software, as many illegal downloads are laced with viruses and can do much harm.

Regarding the policy on the extensions, it generates an exchange of views.  But there still is a (little known) way buy Adobe CS5 multi-platforms to install on Windows and Mac OS, even if it would require a new update for you now.

Hope this helps and good luck to your daughter in his studies.

    Hello everyone.

We have designers working on Mac and the editors working on the Windows laptops in our society. Both platforms have CS6 InCopy and InDesign installed and fonts are fixed for both platforms work in both directions. But colleagues always complain of errors what incopy gives when editor trying to do anything with the .indd file open. Which means that the file opens OK, you see, but as soon as you try to add a note or edit the text it gives and error. Sorry, I had to blur the full path, but the idea is on the screenshot:

Does anyone have an idea if it is possible to work with comfort using different operating systems?

Note: the same actions flow works perfectly when using the combination of Mac to Mac.

Hello JohanThege , your server is Mac or PC?

Our server was MAC, but we had a lot of problems. We now have a PC. If your PC is also wary of file names.

If resolve anything, try to work with InCopy package, but in this case, the file is locked in .indd.

  • can I install photoshop on my computer mac laptop and my laptop as a backup? It works cross-platform?

    my purchase work cross platform?

It depends on what you bought.  If you ask about a subscription to creative cloud, then Yes, you can install and activate on one or two platforms.  If you ask about a version of CS, unless you have purchased a multiplatform license, which is not at all normal, you can use it on the platform for which the license has been generated.

  • Scalability and cross-platform Web Viewer features

If I understand door MEA Mobile apps, our company is interested in using AEMM provided the web viewer is cross-platform capable.

On the phone, the web viewer support a sensible overview; However, seems to want to launch the application.

On Tablet (iPad, at least), the web viewer displays the message: "this content is no longer available.  "Download the application to enjoy similar content."

On the desktop, the experience is good; However, what scalability is possible; as the sensitive available refining?

This ability would be major for our society - both in the launch of new projects, as well as our full range of editions of the migration.

The web viewer only works on desktops and laptops. It is not supported on phones and tablets.

Extensibility for web office viewer is similar to iOS and Android apps. Creating workflow API and most APIs Cordova associated with the application, user, device and content work similarly in web viewer as they do in iOS/Android, but Cordova APIs that are specific to mobile devices (such as the camera and geolocation) do not work in Office web viewer.

  • Boot camp unrecognized cross-platform records

So here's a little history, I had an installation work of Yosemite and Win 7 ultimate running on my MacPro 3.1 beginning 2008, saw disks cross-platform with the standard read write limits, data was all mixed-platform so I decided to backup my stuff at the same time, wipe and do a clean install, I only have a disc of snow leopard OSX so I wiped and did a clean install with one of there , I noticed there was a worm even newer to avalible OSX install El Capitan then I updated level and attempted to do a training camp, although bootcamp and apples website says that my machine would support 7 when you enter the disk, he said I could do only a win 8 64-bit installation, I did not no more nor want to. It's jogging my memory that I had to modify the plist for the first time I did this, so I started to do some reading and what appeared to be the fastest workaround has been download a copy of bootcamp 4, because the new version does not support mixed installation of the iso (32 & 64 bit ver on one disc) did the installation went well spent ran boot camp software Player was not grateful so I tried to connect to the internet and there was a problem any appeared adapters but I just couldn't join the network and other issues at random so I started back in OSX deleted the partition and booted, this time networking the problem has been resolved but hard disk recognition was still a question , from windows I can openboot camp software and select this option to start card, but can not see the player mac, Mac I see windows on the desktop player but does not not in the utility disc or bootcamp and a target boot disk.

Sorry for the long background but I seem not to be the only person having this problem perhaps this may help understand why its happening and lead to a better solution, aka prevent it

Here is the info that you seem to need to read the other discussions on this topic

I read the solution for the subjects to which I'm fairly certain that I'm having the same problem with and I am confident in preforming the required steps, like to confirm that, that is the question and what numbers should I use in my case for steps 7 and 8 and help is greatly appreciated.

  • What is the right way to this cross-platform application?

    Hey y ' All

I am a multimedia application with LV2010 and I am trying to do cross-platform (win and mac os x).

The I need the feature requires the use of system libraries, I have access to enough similar functions in the two operating systems

(winmm.dll in windows, coreMidi.framework in mac OS X)

With the exception of the current system of appeals on the screws will be identical.

I can do the work of VI in a platform by using the call library function node, but I don't want to have two copies of everything.

I tried to do sub wrapper VI that puts the call library function node in a case statement and detects the OS but this VI will not executable due to dependencies (will not find the library referenced in one of the cases depending on the operating system you are running)

Is there any way I can specify what Subvi to load on a project or something to get this issue sorted dependency?

You want to encapsulate the platform-specific code in a conditional structure disable with a condition for each supported platform.  The symbol of the OS is already defined; see Help for the creation of disable Conditional Structures, which lists the predefined symbols and values.

I have Photoshop elements 14 installed and active on my PC.  I understand that I am able to install a second copy on my laptop, but the laptop is a Mac and the activation key, I used on the desktop computer is not accepted for the Macbook - I have obviously been download a different version to try.  Is there a way to get around this, or I am only able to install it on two Windows systems

You can use the serial number on both Windows and Mac computers if the serial number is cross-platform.

If you purchase version of Windows, you cannot use it on Mac computers, you can buy the Mac version separately.

I have Photoshop CS6 for windows disk upgrade.  Reviewing air mac laptop to replace my old laptop as a second machine.  Could I use the program on it on my current license?   Would I be able to download the program? Could I use the program on it on my current license?

N ° and that takes care of your other questions - it's a moot point. Standalone permanent licenses are platform-specific, and there is no way around that. Only creative Cloud enables cross-platform as do certain types of licenses in volume, neither of which is relevant to your situation.

  • Are cross-platform plugins?

Are plugins developed for sequelae compatible on both Mac and Windows, or must we take into account the platform their help during the development of a plugin?

generally speaking, it should not be a problem to transfer from pc to mac (and vice versa) using the same code.

more than 99% of the API is entirely cross-platform without any specific remarks.

There are a few rarities, and they are documented.

most of the major differences between the platforms come when you use the OS API. (opening a window-level operating system for options, for example)

but in terms of management of buffers, pixels, ram and the use of the suites API, you should have no worries.

  • Cross Platform Application

    Hello everyone,

We are trying to develop an application in our Organization, which must run on different tablets. Tablets can be either iOS, Windows, Android or Blackberry OS based. My question is:

Would be the same code (with perhaps bit of customization) is sufficient for all or we would need to have separate development (and effort) for different OS.

If no separate then development Flex 4.5 is a buy it now for us :)

Also, please tell us if people lived all important issues (especially with the graphic components & live data via webservices connectivity) while developing applications for devices not based on windows using Flex 4.5 or it is a veil of sweetness.

All input will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    AP

AIR is designed to allow you to make cross-platform development, sharing the same code. In our Organization, I learned flash/flex and made a soft complex (connection with a web server to share audio/images/xml), the dynamic generation of forms, compression of photo, drawing, pdf generation and widgets personalized and many more) before the end of the trial version of Flash builder...

We made then it... You must download the trial and try it for a few days. You will see how it is easy to develop a solution that works on AIR, iOS, Blackberry, Windows, Mac and Linux tablet...

For graphics and live connectivity, you can check this app (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/samples/sales-dashboard-application.html).

What you need to know is that there are limits (but Adobe strives to implement new features) in the ATMOSPHERE. If you need access to a large number of sensors or native phone API, AIR might give you a hard time...

    Good luck!

  • Cross-platform upgrade question

I'm posting this question here, as I've had less than satisfactory results from ask customer support about this. I know that this forum is moderated by some great people at Adobe and hope someone can clarify this matter for me.

I currently own CS3 Design Premium for Windows and need to buy CS5 for Mac. A search for 'Cross-platform swap' on Adobe has led me to this page: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405819.html. However, the instructions do not match what is available on the support page. Under return/exchange/refund , I have only the following options:

    • Duplicate command
    • Product not performed / works as expected
    • Incorrect update bought
    • Bought the wrong product/platform/language
    • Delivery problems
    • Cannot download the order
    • Wrong product delivered

None of these options is correct as described in the article. I decided to discuss with the customer and the representative told me that all I had to do is shut down the upgrade and I could choose what platform to install on the first run. Really? The representative stated that CS5 included two disks, one for installation of Windows and the other for OS X. He assured me that I would have no problem to install CS5 on my Mac upgrade, although I've never installed CS3 on this machine.

I am skeptical about this approach for two reasons: one, Adobe has never offered together Win and Mac disks for versions of CS. Two, when I go to the pre-order CS5, I need to make a choice between platforms.

Has Adobe changed its mode of delivery of Creative Suite products? Are really included two disks of platform? If this is not the case, there are two things that must be accomplished:

    1. Article http://kb2.Adobe.com/CPS/405/kb405819.html must be corrected. Cannot perform the steps as described.
    2. Representatives of support for customers should be advised that they provide incorrect information regarding cross-platform upgrade procedures.

Finally, I need information correct on how to go about upgrading my CS3 to CS5 Mac Windows. I buy an upgrade disc and use my CS3 serial number to install? I do some sort of return and if so, how?

Thanks in advance to anyone from Adobe who is willing to take the time to answer my question.

Line background here, you need to call Adobe to do this. A cross-platform swap is possible only for the current versions.

What you need to call and tell them that you want to upgrade Windows CS3 to CS5 Mac. It's as simple as that.

  • Can you still get an upgrade of cross-platform for CS3?

I am a mac user and recently bought CS3 Design Premium for windows used - nobody knows that you can always get a cross-platform upgrade windows to mac without upgrading to CS4?

Adobe currently provides no new licenses (which a crossgrade is considered a new license) to non-current versions of its software.

  • Buddy API Cross-platform projector

I am trying to create a cross-platform projector that contains the buddy api xtra. I looked in various forums on how to do this and followed the steps but with still some problems. I do it on a PC on Director MX 2004. Here's what I did so far, anyone see what I'm doing wrong?

I downloaded the mac version of buddy api (Buddy API Xtra.data & Buddy API Xtra.rsrc) and placed them in Director MX 2004\Configuration\Cross platform Resources\Macintosh

Modified the xtrainfo.txt and added the line at the bottom:
    [#namePPC: "Buddy API XTRA", #nameW32: "budapi.x32"]

But when I try to create the Macintosh projector to the Manager I get the error message:
' Can not find the file xtra "BudFile.x32". Continue to create projector?

What I have not donestand is the .x32 additional windows which I included in the projector thorugh modify > movie > Xtras...

    HEELLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPP

    > when I arrived to modify > movie > Xtras - both budapi.x32 and budfile.x32 are present

You use functions of BudFile? Should it be included?
You quoted the error message means that the inclusion of BudFile is
failing, not Buddy API. If you need the Xtra of split and change your
xtrainfo.txt file, etc. as you described in your first post - but for
    Buddy file too.
