  you will need to use an HTML file.

  Compose your signature in Thunderbird (as you would an email). Add graphics and select do not include in the dialog box for any image file residing on the internet.

  I just clicked on a link facebook earlier that led me to a site 'facebook' false asking me to give them permission to access my public profile, I clicked on "Cancel" on the pop up instead of just close the tab (yes I know it's stupid).

  I watched the addons-> extensions such as recommended and found what is called QuickShare. It leads you to a website for Snap.do (http://www.snapdoapp.com/) and that seems to be the culprit, for me at least. I removed it and the stupid social media bar disappeared.   When this function is called, nothing happened. and I see on the console, it print "response." = NULL"which means invokeTargetReply's response to my request. but nothing happened.
