Increase in the size of vmdk vCenter Analytics of operations (resize)

Hey everybody! I'll start with a warning that I am too complicate the process for that apparently I am a FOOL! Either way, a result of work is the ideal fruit here!

Here's the situation...  I have deployed vCenter Ops out of the OVA/OVF, fine so far... And well, environmental needs, no one REQUIRES additional storage space! So so... as vCenter Ops itself is detect that HE's going to run out of disk space! Perfect, right?

So I pop in vCenter, increase the size of the disc, and we should be defined, right? Uh, no.

For whatever the reason, once again... may be missing a set of specific commands...

When I try to increase the size of the disk, it keeps the denynig there is no available space, yet a fdisk-l seems to show that/dev/sdb seems to have enough space...   Certainly, there is an article "addressing" the problem of resizing vCenter Ops, and I mean by "address", it does not at all.

With me so far?  Interestingly, vCenter Ops likes to throw the part data analytics to a logical volume by the name of data_vg

So, I have no ego, no obligation, other than trying to ensure that we find the answer... and we have a source to this address for all time, instead of KB articles without answers, or the steps that eventually destroy my logical volume and all the data contained in. (Hell, if I wanted to, I just would deploy the EGGS again with 'large' size)  Any help, greatly appreciated.

To add more disk space, all you need to do is add an extra on the disc and restart the virtual machine, it will detect and add space to the virtual machine.

  • Increase in the size of the virtual disk after update comments

    Hello

I'll put up a basic using Fedora 11 virtual machine. I installed it with the installer in text mode to get a basic system with a small footprint. Once installation is complete, the size of the folder for the virtual machine is 564 MB. After you have installed a few programs (presto, nano) and run yum update, the size of the folder double almost to .97GB when the virtual machine is shut down. There is no snapshot on each machine. Disk settings are a single virtual disk of 8 GB, 2 GB split, not preallocated. The OS is Vista Business 32-bit. VMware Workstation is 6.5.3 Build 185404.

What is all that extra space? I tried the yum and several options reset but no luck. I ran - x - m - max-depth = 1 / in computers with the following results:

On the virtual machine without Update:

    0/dev

    10/var

    1/Media

    1/home

    1 / opt

    1/boot

    6 "/ bin"

    0/proc

    72/lib

    1 /srv

    0/sys

    1/MNT

    0 /selinux

    1 / lost + found

    11/sbin

    1/root

    1/tmp

    421.

    The virtual machine with updates:

    0/dev

    14/var

    1/Media

    1/home

    1 / opt

    1/boot

    6 "/ bin"

    1 /srv

    0/sys

    314/usr

    0 /selinux

    1 / lost + found

    11/sbin

    1/root

    1/tmp

    484.

From there, everything looks normal without any increase in the brightness of the use of the disc between the virtual machines.

This something that escapes me that would cause this increase in space?

    Thank you.

When you don't have vmware tools installed vmware-vdiskmanager shrink is indeed very.

You first need to wipe unused space with zeros.

    If DD \u003d/dev/zero of = 0bits bs = # 20971520 bs = 20 m rm 0bits

The two commands will create a such wiperfile.

You must run these commands for every single partition that you use.

When done turn off the virtual machine and run vmware-vdiskmanager with option to shrink again.

This time, it will be more efficient

  • mail increases with the size of file and attached attachment

    The question:
Mail with no attachment size is approximately 3, 17 KB (3,251 bytes)
An email with an attachment 38.1 MB (38075102 bytes), where the attachment is
27.8 MB (27820247 bytes) why this great email with attachment and is even greater
When the attachment is larger? I've calculated 30% increase in the mail itself to size
the size of the attachments. This causes problems with sending mail to an SMTP server with a size limit
20 MB of not able to send a 19 MB file cause the post itself is even more important. It is only in
    Thunderbird.

Sending a binary file as an attachment increases its size by a third due to base64 encoding sending two 8-bit characters as three characters of 7-bit ASCII.

  • (Huge) Increase in the size of the file

    Dear people,

I just downloaded a video on youtube in a 1080 p .mov file that is about 80 MB.

After that, I opened the file with Adobe AE, deleted the soundtrack and cut about half of the video because it wasn't what I needed.

After a 'normal' export, the file is now 7 GB +.

Can someone explain why and how this happened and how can I remove the sound and cut video without having to deal with these huge increases?

    See you soon!

Dave is right. You should use first.

That being said, your basic understanding of the works of the AE on a fundamental basis is wrong.

You made a video uncompressed to After Effects. It will be bigger than the VERY compressed video from YouTube. AE works with video information completely inflated for each pixel in each image. The size of the file of the incoming video is not relevant. AE will still work with completely full frame, uncompressed information. If you give a highly compressed video source, it decompresses while you work.

Think of it this way, you can take nothing in your project but a 23 kb JPEG and make a video with her and the result will be a huge file if you return an uncompressed video.

  • Not able to set a shortcut customized to increase/decrease the size of brush in 2014 CC Photoshop on Win 8

I use Windows 8 and PS CC2014 and the problem is that I can't assign shortcut customized to the dot. I've been using, and. declining and an increase in brush size and it worked well in every photoshop, same cc2014 in win7, but not in win8 it seems. He let'schange me the and just tells me that it is in service in another place, but I can always change. But I can't do the same thing with. as he complains that it is used by an application, although I have reset to zero from the original location and left empty, photoshop it still recognizes if I press it, although it would not empty but I can't assign this key to anything else either.

Small thing, but the readers makes me crazy I had to assign it to an another key and I'm using the shortcuts in the muscle memory for most and eventually change the brush when I had the intention to increase the size. I tried from google but could not find a similar thing another solution.

Please check that Flakesie. Looks like a problem with the Finnish version of PS CC 2014.

  • VM with Thin Provisioning, but increase not the size of the installation disc.

I'm working on a test VM for Windows XP installation.  I've implemented initially for 8 GB and with a provisioning.  However, now I am more space because of all the updates and adverse Microsoft threw there.  I cleaned the drive as much as I can and am still really low on disk space.  New updates will not download or install.  I increased the size of the disk of 10 GB, but in Windows, it still shows 8 GB.  What gives?  What Miss me?

When you have added on the hard drive, you have added the space at the end of the training. You need to resize the partition on this computer to use all the new space. There are many options to resize the partition. A program that I use which is great and can run from a live cd is called GParted- http://gparted.sourceforge.net/ . One thing that I found which help before using GParted is to run chkdsk and make sure that there are no errors before resizing the disc.

  • Increase in the size of a LUN mapped Raw

I need to increase the size of a mapped LUN Raw that I connected to one of our servers. I'm unable to increase the size of it on the Hardware tab in the properties of the VM because there aren't any options there to do this, in contrast to the virtual disks. The only information about it is that it is in physical compatibility mode.

    Pointers would be appreciated.

    Hello.

You will need to do this on the side of SAN storage, using its software.  Once the disc has been increased in size, you can use the native OS utilities (such as diskpart in Windows) to spread the disk inside the VM.

    Good luck!

  • get Windows to recognize an increase in the size of the virtual disk

I just installed Fusion to a new Mac computer, and I installed Windows as well.  I did not notice that Fusion has allocated only 40 GB ramdisk Windows until I got warnings 'disk full '.  I figured out how to increase the size of the virtual disk, but Windows think there always only 40 GB.  How can I get Windows to recognize the virtual disk space increased?

Greetings again. I am running VMware Workstation 6.5 on Linux. I also Converter 4.0 on Linux. • Increase in the size of storage LUNS

We have a host of esxi with 4.5 TB of local disk. I had read only data warehouses for max 2 TB. We are to the point that we must use the 2.5 to left. I need to know the best way to achieve this.
On the host, if I click on the Configuration tab, and then select storage, then my datastore 2 TB, then properties, I see all 4.5 TB on the device. Do I click on increase and make my 4.5 TB datastore? If I do that, what happens to the existing data on the data store? Make a 2nd store of data and if so, how?

VMFS 5 a maximum of 64 to data warehouses. You're ready to confusion with the maximum of VM 2 TB drive. You can increase the data at 4.5 to store if it's 5 VMFS. Please see this: -.

  • Increase in the size of block of the local data store

I tried from Googling and it involves a lot of things from the command line and seems to be different ways of doing.

They say that I need to format the drive again and specify a block size.  But isn't ESXi installed on the same partition? If I reformat it, it won't get rid of the ESXi software?

Where can I get easy step by step instructions on how to do this?

If you have no data, go to Configuration / Storage and remove the existing data store.

    Then choose Add datastore.

  • Increase in the size of disk with VI 4.0 client vm

    Guy-

I need help.  I don't want to use third-party tools.  I can't find documentation clearly apply to my question.  I added more disk space successfully to my VM and can see it in disk management as unallocated.  How do I change size of existing partition to include the extra space.  It of probably very easy but can't seem to find the relevant documents that apply.

    Thanks for any help!

Then, it's a blink of an eye...

Open a command on the virtual machine, run/enter "diskpart" window and allows to select the second drive and extend the partition to fill the disc (absorbing the extra space that you gave it)... Takes all of a minute or two, depending on the performance of your installation...

Commands that you will need to run:

    list disk

    Select disk # (target)

    partition from the list

    Select partition #.

    extend

You should see a message saying "DiskPart extended with success the volume." That's all... I just did on a secondary drive from Server 2003 to confirm all orders/steps for you...

    Microsoft: Http://support.microsoft.com/kb/325590   http://support.microsoft.com/kb/300415

Something to remember... DiskPart is supplied with Windows, so no third party tools are needed...
