increase the size of the archivelog file

Hello

11.2.0.2 on BSG...

3 groups of newspaper with 1 member of each.

db_recovery_file_deststring/ oracle/oraarch

In order to increase the size of the log file, if I use ALTER DATABASE ADD LOGFILE GROUP 1 SIZE 300 M; but he creates the Log group with 2 members. One is to oraarch location/oracle/and the other to/oracle/oradata (db_create_file_dest). We use ORACLE MANAGED FILE SYSEM.

I want only 1 member/oracle/oraarch (to keep the setting previous intact.. .just by increasing the size of 100 to 300M).

If I manually give the path where to create the military log file, I get this error:

ALTER DATABASE ADD LOGFILE GROUP 1 ' / oracle/oraarch/DB/onlinelog /' SIZE 300 M;

ALTER DATABASE ADD LOGFILE GROUP 1 ' / oracle/oraarch/DB/onlinelog /' HEIGHT 300 M

*

ERROR on line 1:

ORA-00301: Error adding the log file ' / oracle/oraarch/DB/onlinelog /'-could not create the file

ORA-27038: created file already exists

Additional information: 1

Please suggest.

Thank you very much.

Best regards

@DK2010

@AbuFazalMdAbbas

Thank you very much.

I fixed it.

ALTER system set db_create_file_dest = ";

change the database plus the size of the logfile Group 1 300 m;

In this way the system will only find the path of/oracle/oraarch and therefore will create only 1 member of journal.

Best regards

  • "The Archivelog file size" and the question of 'db_recovery_file_dest_size.

    Hello

    According to the literature, DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST specifies the default location for the flash recovery area. The flash recovery area contains copies of files of control current multiplexes and remake online of newspapers, but also archived redo logs

    And DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST_SIZE specifies (in bytes) of the strict limit on the total space to be used by the target database recovery files created in the flash recovery area.

    Here's the info from my database (10 gr 2, RHEL 64-bit database is in archivelog mode):

    Log_archive_dest_1 = ' LOCATION = + recovery /'

    db_recovery_file_dest = '+ RECOVERY. "

    db_recovery_file_dest_size = 550 GB

    -Size of archivelog files:

    Select

    SUM(BLOCKS * BLOCK_SIZE)/1024/1024/1024 SIZE_GB

    Of

    V$ ARCHIVED_LOG

    -> 672,39 GB

    If I have question used flash recovery area space, it is to be:

    SELECT name

    , ceil (space_limit / 1024 / 1024) SIZE_M

    , ceil (space_used / 1024 / 1024) USED_M

    , decode (nvl (space_used, 0),)

    0, 0

    ceil ((space_used / space_limit) * 100)) PCT_USED

    V $ recovery_file_dest

    ORDER BY name

    NAME SIZE_M USED_M PCT_USED

    + 563200 8 1 RECOVERY

    I'm confused where are the archivelogs saved if not + recovery?

    Total current total size of ARCHIVELOG files if "672.39" but especially the request saying that only 8% of the db_recovery_file_dest was used. So obviously they are either not in + RECOVERY or they are not accounted for.

    I chedk on ASM using asmcmd:

    ASMCMD > cd ARCHIVELOG

    ASMCMD > ls

    2013_09_05 /.

    2013_09_06 /.

    2013_09_09 /.

    2013_09_10 /.

    2013_09_11 /.

    2013_09_12 /.

    ASMCMD >

    Whereas the query on the view V$ ARCHIVED_LOG shows me the file names for the month of August as well.

    I don't know that I am misunderstanding/missing something. I'm lost :-(

    Please advise!

    Thanks in advance!

    You wrong understand archiving at the area of fast recovery works. You have done the fast recovery area to a certain destination and also set up check-in to the same physical location: but Oracle doesn't know that they are in the same place. You must explicitly set:

    ALTER system set log_archive_dest_1 is 'location = USE_DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST';.

    and then Oracle will understand and follow the space in the paper archive used against the db_recovery_file_dest_size.

  • Increase the huge file size.

    So I've recently updated for first Pro CC 2015.3. I was doing a video which is 40 seconds long. The only thing in the video is the text and music. I exported using the same setting that I used in first Pro CC 2015. With first Pro CC 2015 the size of the file is usually around 200 MB. With first Pro CC 2015.3, the file size was 4.7 GB. I was wondering if there is anyway to make it back to what it was before. Thank you!

    File size is determined by length, bitrate, and only two things.

    If you want a smaller file, you'll need a shorter program, or a lower rate.

  • Increase the vmdk file

    Hi all

    I have a storage with some VMs. I have free tickets in this storage and I want to increace a VM with win2008, but I do not know how? I have standard ESX4 and I have not vCenter.

    Thank you

    Przemek

    Agree with Altix,

    Just one, but... In older versions of vCenter, you cannot change the size of the HD, so you should do this through ESX console, the command is:

    vmkfstools x new_size path_to_vmdk

    Take a look by using this command for more detailed parameters...

    After that, use diskpart (on windows) is your best option. Other good options: gparted (linux).

  • How to copy archivelog files to an instance of the ASM to another instance of the ASM

    Hello
    our RAC database must be moved to another data center. The database has a size of several Terrabyte. Will create a database of Eve (on a cluster) on the new data center (using the RMAN backup). Using the Oracle 11 g database, it is possible to use the cp with 'connect_string' command options for connect_string. The connection string ASMCMD for use with a copy of the remote instance.

  • Size of the log file Archive

    Redlogfile size is 16 MB and generating the archivelog file size is approximately 10 Mb. what could be the reason?

    Oracle Version: 10.2.0.4

    OS: Windows

    Published by: Deccan charger 19 April 2010 23:31

    First of all:

    a redo log contains a lot of things necessary for instance etc. recovery an archived log is used only for the restorations - he didn't need all the stuff that is in a redo log, so when written CRA the archiving log that he does not write all knowledge, all that is required for restores

    Second:

    Archive logs is created with dimensions smaller, irregular, as the original redo logs. Why? [388627.1 ID]

    Goal
    Archive logs is created with dimensions smaller, irregular, as the original redo logs.
    Commands like:
    ALTER SYSTEM SWITCH LOGFILE
    or
    ALTER SYSTEM ARCHIVE LOG...
    are not used to generate archives or change the log file. Thus, there is no parameter ARCHIVE_LAG_TARGET set.
    What else could cause this behaviour?
    Solution
    From:
    Bug: 5450861: NEWSPAPERS ARCHIVE IS GENERATED with one SIZE SMALLER THAN THE REDO LOG FILES
    the explanation of this situation has 2 main reasons:
    1 archiving logs do not have to be in the same size. This was decided very long ago, when blank padding archiving logs stopped for a very good reason - in order to save disk space.

    2. the log command does not exist when a redo log file is 100% full. There is an internal algorithm that determines when to switch journal. It also has a very good reason - do the command of newspaper at the last moment may incur performance problems (for various reasons, outside the scope of this note).
    So, after that newspaper ordering occurs the archivers are only copying the information from the redo log files. As recovery logs are not 100% full after the command to log and archive logs are empty not filled after the copy operation is complete, this results in unequal files smaller than the original of redo log files.
    This is very apparent for very low (less than 10 MB) log files; as a result, produced 2.5 MB archive logs of 5 MB recovery logs are very visible.
    Just note that currently, the default log files are 100 MB in size. If the archives log files would be between 98 and 100 MB person would notice.
    The main concern that one must have for newspapers of archives files is a possible corruption. This can be easily verified by attempting a resumption of testing. When it's ok, the size of the log archive uneven should be of no interest, as is expected.

  • Restore the control file considerations

    Hello expert,

    Assumpition condition is:

    All the data files and the redologs are not damaged, but the controlfiles are damaged. We must restore the controlfile autobackup with the following command:

    RMAN > STARTUP NOMOUNT;

    RMAN > backup RESTORE CONTROLFILE AUTOMATIC;

    RMAN > ALTER DATABASE MOUNT;

    RMAN > RECOVER DATABASE;

    RMAN > ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS;

    Use of rman RECOVER, DATABASE redo logs to roll changes forward to control files. Can you explain what changes can be included? (Currently I only have one example: we add the new data file once the backup control file.) So we need roll forward the changes to control the file on the new added one.) Other examples?

    Thank you and best regards,

    Tong Ning

    Examine the contents of the controlfile.  He has the list of data files, the list of the archivelog files and list of rman backups.

    Archivelogs would be saved in the controlfile so that they can be applied.

    What about backups?  Subsequent backups would certainly no longer be in the controlfile.

  • The Archivelogs management

    AIX 6.1

    Oracle 11.2.0.3

    We were struck several times lately by archivelog disk full error, especially during weekends and the midnight when you're home to rest.

    Many on-site clients complain and that batch abandoned since we are a 24 x 7 production company.

    Is there an OS messaging system that will send the sysadmin and technical support when the disc is already on the threshold of 80% full?

    Can it be done on the side of oracle db to check if the archivelog file is 80% full?

    You can share me how do you manage your production archivelog systems please?

  • Records in the ARCHIVELOG flash_recovery_area folder management

    I more than 520 files in my 'c:\oraclexe\app\oracle\flash_recovery_area\XE\ARCHIVELOG' folder in the YYYY_MM_DD form from January 2009 until this day. Can I delete these folders and leave only the 2011_12_29 folder? What is a recommended practice?

    "Recommended practice" is implemented in a separate partition / folder to contain the archivelog files and affecting LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_1 and LOG_ARCHIVE_FORMAT which avoids creating folders to a location in the recovery area.

    Of course, you can delete these files. Unless you do a restore. There is always a catch ;)

    Yes

    restore archivelog all;

    I need to restore my backup archivelog.
    You can filter by RCS, sequence or time if you do not want to retrieve all your archivelog files.
    Example:

    restore archivelog from time 'sysdate-1';

    You can also restore to a different location if the original is not available etc.

    View rman is perfectly capable to eat the archivelog files as needed if the backups are available.

  • I use a 43 in. TV as monitor and have trouble reading the text in the drop-down menu (file, editing, display etc.) boxes. Is it possible to increase the size?

    I downloaded the theme and font size changer, but I cannot increase the size of the text in the drop-down menus. I sit 10 ft away from the TV with a wireless keyboard. Even when I Zoom on the page of the menu drop-down does not increase in size. With the help of a mini Mac OSX 10.3

    I think that the solution is a TV 60 ", but I hope we can find a more affordable solution!

  • Deleting a group to a TDMS file increases the file size

    Hi all

    I was searching for information on how to delete a group in a TDMS file. Apparently this is not a simple task as I thought because firstly, it is necessary to convert the TDMS file in a TOC file, remove the group from the TOC file and finally convert the TDM in PDM file. There is a sample project really nice here (I have attached it in the post anyway!).

    This project works very well. Indeed, I am able to remove the group from the PDM file. However, I realized that perform the deletion process increases the size of the file (about 4 times). If you are viewing the PDM with the PDM file - file Viewer.vi you realize that several strange properties have been added to each channel of all other groups. I assumed that this is partly the cause of the increase in size.

    Anyone know why this is happening?

    I'm using LabVIEW 2014 and I downloaded the project for 2014 LabVIEW.

    Any help is appreciated to higlhy.

    Best regards

    Diego Ballen

    The old way was to read each group that you want to save and write to a new file. The fundamental problem is that TDMS format has been optimized for speed and no memory efficiency, which can cause a lot of complications when you seemingly simple things - like the deletion of data, or reading the data of the file.

    That is why NEITHER came up with these new features. If you're stuck with an earlier version, you can always write your own function to do the same.
