InDesign CC15: glitching numbers

Hi all

I had this problem: when I type "230 = 450" Indesign displays "450 = 230"

Thank you very much.

1. You have an installed Version of the Middle East?
2. In your paragraph Style is the composer of selected world? Do not use it unless you write Hebrew, Arabic and Farsi.
3. In your paragraph Style you have defined a sort of GREP style, like a specific brackets? Delete it.

• In an inDesign book page numbering

I build a manual in book form in InDesign. This is my first time using the book options.

In any case, I have 11 documents added to the book panel. Each of these documents have different templates.

I want to set up the numbering of the pages of the book. I can do this in the book panel, or what I have to put in place page numbers in each separate document?

Yes. Just put on all the master pages Current Page number marker - your document will use this marker to put the correct number in place.

• The broken book page - InDesign 5.5 numbering

I have known some very persistent and reproducible errors with book numbering in InDesign 5.5.

Any comments or ideas would be very welcome.

Platform: OS X Lion (clean installation), InDesign CS5.5 7.5.2 no plug-ins on the test environment

Reproducible condition:

1. Create a new book, activate the automatic page numbering (continues from the previous section).
2. Create four new documents, each adds ten pages. Make sure Autodial is on.
3. Add each of these documents to the book.
4. Save the book.
5. Update the numbering of the pages of the book.

Result:

• The documents are not page numbers correct display book in the book palette. They show the document, no book, parent of numbering. Each document is displayed (1-10) in the book palette.
• When you view the documents themselves, the first two as expected from the document page number: (1-10) and (11-20). It is also the result when exporting to PDF format.
• However documents 3 and 4 of the book take page numbers (11-20) in addition, as if they were every second positioned in the book.

Tested:

• I tried the automatic replacement of pages options for the book (start on odd/even) without change of numbering. UPDATE: on a book 20 document there are a few sections that seem to reboot as "pairs", so the number restarts randomly throughout the book. Same document and book options numbering, as described here.
• I tested with different numbers of documents, different pages.
• Update the numbering after each attempt, no change.

Resolve by trashing prefs & cache.

So, for someone else, stumbling on this thread, on OS X trash (or move to a backup folder, better than practice):

Your user home dir is $HOME

$HOME/Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign

$HOME/Library/Caches/com.adobe.InDesign

$HOME/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign

$HOME/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.InDesign.plist

$HOME/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.InDesign.plist.lockfile

Who cleared it, although I was running without modification known to all prefs, so this remains a black box solution.

• InDesign CS4 page numbering not correctly displayed in the Pages panel

Hello

I searched the forums for a solution to my problem before posting. I'm sorry if I'm doubly question from someone, but I'm going:

I noticed this problem I have about 6 months ago. When I create a simple document with auto-numbering of all right. When I try and create a section (for example, I want my numbering to start at 1 on page 3) it actually works, however, in the Panel Pages, the pages appear with their base numbers. You agree that it is quite confusing. I tried different files, the same files on different computers and so forth. The problem has to do with my installation of InDesign CS4 and I guess it's a kind of a display option that I accidentally turned on.

Could someone please suggest a solution? Thank you!

• Automation of URLS in InDesign CS4 catalogue numbers

Hello

Anyone know if a script can be used to automate the creation of URLS based on catalog numbers in a document? For example, many of our data sheets, brochures, etc. have long lists of numbers of catalog on the last pages. We want to use them as links when you export as a PDF. the problem is, there is so much, he should always click on them all and create individual links.

I read here on the forums that someone asked a similar question about using character Style sheets to content 'tag' to convert the URL. We want to do the same thing, only to add the catalog number to a static URL. For example, www.mycompany.com/catalogue/XXXX where XXXX is a catalogue number of the text that is in a certain style of character. We would then create a link by using this URL on the catalogue number in the text.

Thank you

I find the hyperlink feature in InDesign to be very confusing, but I think this should do what you want:

var myDoc = app.activeDocument;
var myLinkStyle = myDoc.characterStyles.itemByName("link"); // the Character style of the links
var myURL = "http://www.mycompany.com/catalogue/"; // url of your company
var i, myLinks, myLink, mySource, myDestination;

for (i = myDoc.hyperlinkTextSources.length-1; i >= 0; i--){
mySource = myDoc.hyperlinkTextSources[i];
if (mySource.sourceText.appliedCharacterStyle == myLinkStyle){
mySource.remove(); // removes existing hyperlinks to avoid "double bookings"
}
}

app.findGrepPreferences = null;
app.findGrepPreferences.appliedCharacterStyle = myLinkStyle;
myLinks = app.findGrep();

for (i = 0; i < myLinks.length; i++){
myLink = myLinks[i];
mySource = myDoc.hyperlinkTextSources.add(myLink);
myDestination = myDoc.hyperlinkURLDestinations.add(myURL + myLink.contents);
myDoc.hyperlinks.add(mySource, myDestination);
}

• Booklet from InDesign with DataMerge & page numbering

Hi all, I have created a booklet using InDesign with page numbers. I want to place my CSV source text and use the data merge feature to make each unique book.

The problem is: when I create the merged document it automatically numbers the pages with the page range in the new InDesign document. How can I just merge to the printer or merged and reset the numbering with each document?

Thank you

I am not as pessimistic about this than Rik.

I guess this will be one record per page fusion, which means it can have several pages in the document model. Instead of using an automatic page number marker, simply enter the number of the actual page that you want to appear on each page. ID will create a long sequence of logical page numbers to track the pages to print or export where you need to select a range, but these numbers will appear not in fact on all pages unless you add a marker number.

• Smartphones blackBerry keypad dial glitches once I'm on the phone

Anyone else have a problem with the storm 2 9550 regarding to the dial pad? I can dial a number with the touch-tone phone or use voice dialing or redialing of my newspaper to appeal, but once I'm on the phone and make it appear my keypad - this is glitched - numbers are only missing mostly 1 and 5 will appear. While the boxes for numbers are letters are only partially or not at all and the figures are either not present, or in the wrong place. I can not press 1 to reach the operator problem type. It is a totally useless dial pad once the phone is used. Any ideas how to fix this very frustrating glitch? I did a hard reset on the plan of removing the battery. I use a blackberry 9550 v 5.0.0.320 and am a customer of verizon. I had my phone for a little over a month - of course-. Thanks for any help or suggestion.

I got exactly the same problem on my new Storm 2.

You can fix this by going to Options-> screen / keyboard-> keyboard Portrait mode:

Make sure that you have not selected "keyboard" and choose one of the other two options. Save the settings and that's all.

Seems that the keyboard is going bonkers over this parameter, which I filed as a bug on the current version of the operating system. (Is there a database of bugs when this can be filed?)

• Barcode EPS now lack of numbers when imported CC2015

We are facing a problem with CC2015 and bar codes.

When import us codes bar in inDesign CC2014 everything works well. The bars and numbers are visible

When we import the same file in inDesign CC2015, the numbers the bar beneith disappears. We can also more open the EPS with Illustrator file. (No errors, program just stops)

We are using Mac OS Yosemite 10.10.5

We could try another generator of barcodes, but since we have years of 'old' files that we need to be reprinted regularly, we are really just use the same EPS files.

Also, it seems odd that CC2014 can work with the EPS, but can not CC2015.

I downloaded an EPS here example: http://edweb.dk/temp/Hannibal2_VSTDVDDK_EAN.zip

Help, please

None of these answers were acceptable

However, the last update of indesign resolves the issue.

• Why is the compatibility between interactive pdf and acrobat dc so bad?

We used Indesign CC14 make interactive pdf with a lot of hyperlinks on the huge books. With the new Indesign CC15, all target links are wrong, the interactive pdf is ok on a desktop computer, but failed on Ipad and Iphone. There is no compatibility between adobe acrobat and adobe acrobat reader DC.

Before an another upgrade to Indesign CC I want questions to be resolved on.

Here's the reality: PDF readers on mobile, including those from Adobe, have limited support for interactive PDF.

This is not new: I wrote about this for years and the situation has not changed:

For the interactive PDFS, not all readers are equal. InDesignSecrets

There are readers who support it, but you may have to pay for them. Try PDF Expert of Readdle (US $9.99).

It has nothing to do in particular with the latest version of Acrobat DC. It is one of the many readers on iPad, iPhone and Android that do not support interactive PDF features. Some features will not work, some will not.

That's why many of us are moving the fixed layout EPUB when we want to view interactivity or animation.

I use photoshop since 2006 and have been upgraded if necessary.

When downloading from a CD Adobe Photoshop CS3 asked previous serial number for upgrade checking.

I bought the sweet and it's Adobe Photoshop 7.0, but for some reason some have all disks except photoshop.

• navto other pages of the article does not

I've encountered a problem that I think I know the solution, but I'd throw out there to see if anyone has a workaround solution before thinking says solution.

I have a folio for iPad viewing that will probably be used to share via Content viewer.

The folio is a horizontal orientation only and consists of a single InDesign article with pages 14 or while I set swipe horizontal only (currently). On each page, there is a State two MSO that serves as a navigation to the other page. For example, when the user click on a magnifying glass icon (with a fill not any trait don't button top in quality of State 1 of ASM) it opens the nav Panel (State 2 OSM) other non - fill there is no button stroke during an 'x' to close the nav Panel (returning to the State 1 IE the Panel not visible nav - just the magnifying glass icon)

This nav Panel 2 State of the OSM has a scroll with the buttons navto frame: ING other pages in the article by using the go to page navto (navto://articlename#1)

This MSO Group (with buttons) is then copied and pasted on each InDesign doc page.

These buttons work fine, but the navigation takes me to the wrong page when hit in any page of bar page 1. For example in the page 1 (title page) when I type navto://articlename#4 it takes me to the right page, but when I type navto://articlename#6 or #7 (or any other page number) it does not take me to the correct page I want to go.

I suspect indesign is getting confused as he tries to navigate to a page to another page in the same InDesign and the numbering system is getting messed up.

Unless I can invent a work around, I guess I'll have to separate pages in separate articles and navto://articlename...

I want to keep the navigation system of the DSO and I want it to be horizontal scan only I want also a wide belt and the shoulder straps of the 'front to the rear of the content' in working order.

Thanks in advance, hope that I made things clear.

Steve

If you are on iOS or Windows do not use explicit page number. Use instead our new relative navto: / / function to put a simple link that always takes the reader to the following page: navto://current#next.

See Digital Publishing Suite help | Overlays of hypertext link and button for more details.
