  • Stuck at the screen 'failure of Windows update Setup.

I have reset my laptop Windows 8 and downloaded the updates required for Windows 8.1. Then I had to reboot my computer and configure updates. Now it is stuck at the screen 'failure of Windows update Setup. He has already restarted once and is back on the same screen. It is an Asus laptop and from what Ive read, this is not exclusive to all laptops Asus. I do not have any disk installation or any way to activate Safe Mode as I have tried (in fact something that requires search or any key entry does not work). I hope you guys can find a soultion, thank you

EDIT: I think that now it's in a forever continuous reboot, preparation configure updates, failed comfiguring cycle of windows updates.

    Hello

What is the full error message? An error code is displayed with her?

Why did you reset the computer? You had problems?

  • Screen resolution changed with updates

I just stop my laptop and he proceeded to make updates. After the updates, it changed my screen resolution and I can't get it back. I have a 3 month-old HP G56, someone knows how to fix this? I tried to change the resolution of the screen in the control panel and it always looks weird. Thank you all

    Suggestions:

    1. set the DPI

Right-click on a free space of the desktop > customize > column to the left, adjust the size of police (in PPP) > uac prompt > click default scale (96 DPI).

2 do a system restore, back to the date BEFORE the updates of windows that your restore point.

Start button > Search box, type system restore > press the Enter key > uac prompt > click on choose a different restore point > next > select dates as your restore point, until the click > next > finish
To sit and wait. The machine restarts when it's done.

Note: change your windows to MANUAL updates.
After the restoration of the system, the same windows updates will reappear.
Install them one at a time. Check on the screen. If ok, install another, check on the screen, and so on.
In this way, you will know for sure if the updates are the culprites.
If know you that the updates is the culprite mark down its KB # > doing a restore of the system again > when updates will reappear again, right-click the update incriminated > click Hide

Go to the Windows Update section, ask a question about this offending update.

  • Start up hangs before login in screen after the Windows updated 10/26/2010

Before going to bed, I decided to install all Windows Update after they have been downloaded (don't know what they are).  I do not download anything at night or for the past weeks.

Yesterday, I went to turn on my laptop and it could be block/gel just before the log on screen and after departure upward. My pointer doesn't move or anything.  Graphics seem to have stopped and remained black with only the pointer that appears.

I decided to do a reboot to safemode (all 3) and it hangs at ahcix64.sys.  I also tried a recovery back to a month ago and it would be dismissed. (don't remember error number, but will update when I'm back on what it was).

I tried to use KNOPPIX to get all my fails, and which also failed during startup.  I would rather a restore of the entire system.  Please let me know if this happens to you.

  • Empty (black) screen boot after Windows updates

I had this problem on two computers this week... until now. Run windows update after I restart the computer. When the computer reboots, they can start to a blank screen (black). These were not updated video card basis. Also, I tried to use the safe mode, but it crashes on MUP. SYS. I ran chkdsk... and who has not fixed it. Any ideas other then a new installation? Thanks for your help!

    Kevin_C_K,
You said you ran chkdsk and it didn't fix it, but it will report all the problems?
If you are still having this problem here is a couple of things to try (if you haven't already done so).
    Run the sfc/scannow utility.
When you have run chkdsk if you do not use the /r switch, then repeat the it like Chkdsk/r

After the clean installation, update you all hardware drivers before you start the Windows updates? Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

  • For about two weeks screen installation 18 Windows updates at the stop.

For about two weeks when I shut down Windows 7, I get the message that Windows installs updates 18; do not to stop the computer.   The screen shows that each update is installed and the computer then goes to the closure program.  Installation time is always the same, which indicates that there may be a problem and I see the same updates on a daily basis.

I did some research on anti virus program bundled in this machine.  I thought I had seen the McAffe program, but apparently, he was anti Norton virus.

The procedure will be similar, Yes:

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. click right on the file saved in #1 above, and then select run as administrator to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

ATTENTION! Now you're "working without a net": no to anything else online (e.g., navigation, control electronics, cat, other downloading) until you have completed the steps #5 and #6 below!

    5. now to do a fresh install of AVG Free 9.0, this time select the CUSTOM installation option and do NOT install (uncheck) Linkscanner Search-Shield, Active Surf-Shield, security or the email of crawl components toolbar.

    6. manually and regularly update AVG until you get a prompt "no more updates available.

Note: If you also think there could be a McAfee application installed at a certain point, he could not not bad for download/run the McAfee tool, too, before proceeding to the 'custom' own installation of AVG 9.0.

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!

I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in your question on your HP ENVY m6 Sleekbook and issues with a screen flashing after an update.

Here is a link to put the laptop in Safe Mode. This occurs in safe mode?

You can try to use the Windows Update Troubleshooter to fix updates that do not come through Windows 10.  Please restart the laptop twice to make sure that all updates are completed!

Here is a document that shows how update the drivers that do not work correctly with Windows 10.

If this did not help, you need to reinstall the operating system.

    I hope this helps.

  • Blue screen, cannot run Windows Update

I was browsing Reddit when all of a sudden my laptop decided NOPE and closes everything down to make an update. It was 03:00 so I wasn't thinking straight and closed on the rise and went to bed. The next day, while in the class my phone showed me a blue screen with some writing for everything... long enough not to read what was then asked if I wanted to start in different security modes. I thought that this could be because I interrupted an update and I tried to run Windows Update, but it will still not open.   I can't access anything whatever, and I have a paper in four days... Help, please!

We need the DMP file because it contains the single record of the sequence of events that led to the accident, what drivers have been loaded, and what has been loaded.

WE NEED AT LEAST TWO FILES DMP TO SPOT TRENDS AND TO CONFIRM THE DIAGNOSIS.

If you're overclocking (pushing components beyond their design) return you to default at least until the crash is resolved. If you don't know what it is that you're probably not overclocking.
You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting in SafeMode (F8) with networking.
If you are overclocking stop.  (chances are that if you are unsure if you are, you are not)
