Tecra S2: Problems with Linux Live CD after upgrading the BIOS
Hi all
A few moments ago I flashed the BIOS on my Tecra S2. Now, my current BIOS version is 2.80. Unfortunately no, I had problems with booting of Linux Live CD like Knoppix or Kanotix. The freezing of the startup process, when the PCMCIA module is tried bo be started.
What I want to do now is to downgrade my version of BIOS. Is anyone know how it works, and someone has an older version of BIOS of 2005? I couldn't find any older versions on the Toshiba support sites. Thanks for all replies!
Biberkopf
You re right. On the Toshiba page you will find only the latest version of the BIOS and the older versions are not available on the page.
In my opinion if you want to downgrade the BIOS question using the service provider authorized in your country. But have you checked this site useful:

Satellite M100-165 with XP: how to upgrade the BIOS to use the Vista operating system?
Hello
I use my laptop with Windows XP and BIOS version 2.80.
I want to install Windows Vista, but when I download the BIOS of compatible v5.40 Vista it says
"This Bios is only compatible for portable computers with Windows Vista!
Do NOT install this Bios if you have Windows XP as operating system running! »
When you download the version 2.80 compatible XP, I got the same message saying that it was not compatible with Vista.
Now, should I first install Vista with XP compatible BIOS 2.80 and then install the compatible BIOS 5.40 5.40 or Vista install XP first (no traditional update available, only Windows updates are present) and then install Vista?
I'm afraid of a bad flash by installing the BIOS compatible Vista in XP.
Hello
the best solution would be to do the following:
1. backup your data and download the drivers for Vista.
2. make sure that all stored/saved/etc.
3. install the bios
4 restart the machine and install Vista
5. After installing Vista, install drivers and be happy :)See you soon
P.S.: Would appreciate some comments on your success...

Hello
One of my largest clients use a PS6010XV storage in production for 3 years. It is equipped with 8 disks SAS 600 GB drive HARD 15'000 rpm and shortly it will be out of space. He ask me full fill the table with hard 16 600 GB.
My sales representative Dell told me that this kind of upgrade is not possible, the 600GB 15,000 rpm SAS drives is not available...
My client is very upset by this situation and I'm trying to find another solution.
Is it possible fill completes the picture with the original disc Seagate Cheetah 15K 3.5 "600 GB SAS 6 GB/s 24 x 7, type ST3600057SS instead of the original Dell disks?
I can see the Dell drive (P/N 0944832 - 01) are Seagate brand and type is exactly the same.
Kind eyes and waiting for your response
Christophe
Hello
No, because it is custom firmware on the brand of Dell disks. The EQL firmware will be search and reject non Dell/EQL brand discs. Do not add any disk brand would also void the warranty.
Kind regards

Inspiron 7559 - loading stuck on 99% after upgrading the BIOS (I guess)
Hello
Anyone with the same problem?
Update BIOS to v1.1.8
www.dell.com/.../DriversDetails
My system there is 1 minute left until completely cool and said the battery remains at 99%.
Any advice? Downgrade BIOS? Any form to provide comments on this topic concerns directly to DELL is it?
I managed to uninstall other two (proposed by the Dell website) drivers. IO driver series Intel and Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver and Management Console if I'm not mistaken. Maybe that was the problem, but I'm not 100% sure. Everything works fine now.

I have a G5330 with processor E5800 want desktop upgrade
I find that my video editing software is running slow at times and to change my G5330 HP with a new E5800 pc with new cpu 'faster '. Can't decide on i3-2120/2130 or i5-2400/2500. The difference will be worth and what cpu should I buy like my other half told me to deal with what I have.
Garry, you understand!
If it were me, I'd go with the i5 2500. It's a very good processor. The i3 Series is more than a budget CPU. If you really want to gain performance, opt for the i7 Sandy Bridge 2600. It will also break the Bank, however.

to upgrade the bios on an hp dv4t-1400 with processor intel what file do you use in the sp48847
I downloaded the HP website sp48847 and extract the files, but I don't know who. FD to use file.
I have a 1400 dv4t with P7350 intel processor and bios are corrupt. It does not Flash by using the process of disconnecting the power remove the battery hold down power key B pluging and windows by pressing the power button / stop then release the keys B, button / stop and windows. It doesn't detect usb drive with any file flash bios on this subject, and I rename the file in 30F7. BIN. At this point, I have to remove bios chip and flash with spi Flash bios I have. My only problem is that I don't know who. FD to use file. I would be grateful if any body can help to know what file to use or a better idea altogether.
I was told that the file 30F7F66D. FD is for 30F7F66U and AMD processor. FD is for processor intel, but I can't be sure since I have to remove and replace. I also use another computer to download these files and load on the wheel. Dv4t-1400 does not start.
Thanks in advance
Dave
Thanks again HaggisCat for more information on this problem. After a lot of research
I found a thread that has answered my question, the 30F7F66D file. FD is for discrete graphics and the 30F7F66U.fd file for
integrated graphics (UMA). Just thought I would give you insight in the case where you never came across this problem.
Thanks again for your response.

Satellite Pro A100-830 with 4 GB of memory but the BIOS tells me that I have only 3 GB
I have a Satellite Pro A100-830 and I bought the maximum memory for what is 2x2gb, for a total of 4 GB in my world. When I put the DIMMs in themselves in a slot, the BIOS reports 2 GB. BIOS Bravo! When I put both together, I see only 3 GB in the bios!
I found this link on the Crucial site. http://www.crucial.com/kb/answer.asp?QID=4251
Suggest page files, peripherals etc. occupy memory on your system at startup, before the operating system is used I guess. If you do not have the maximum memory installed, you should see the total memory. If you got the maximum memory installed, you will not see the memory used by page etc. files. Why would it be? Why you would see 2 GB if you have only 2 GB but then see 3 GB if you have 4 GB due to the system!
Anyone can shed some light on this subject and be eligible or reject the information in this link. I need to replace the memory and/or the pc?
Thank you
Mark
This is not a BIOS problem but a Windows.
I found this info:
Windows XP Professional 32-bit is limited to 4 GB of address space. If you have 4 GB of RAM installed, it won't show 4 GB in Windows. You will probably get what the size of your pagefile subtracted the 4 GB.Some of this address space is reserved for the hardware and the operating system... so you will never have access to the 4 GB maximum in any case. If you want access to 4 GB of RAM +... your best solution is to pick up XP Pro 64 - bit... but this will only work if your CPU P4 has EMT64. (64-bit)
You can also try to turn on DEP if it is not already enabled... This will also allow EAP that can give you access to all 4 GBSo finally a response:
> Do I need to replace the memory and/or the pc
-> No, everything is ok... you need not to change the hardware -

Any solution to this problem?
If it was my machine on which I relied, I returned as faulty caddy and request a new or try another brand. I personally would not Flash the bios unless my machine had * other issues specifically addressed * by the update of the firmware.

Dell Inspiron 20 model 3052 series
Good afternoon. I hope I'm in the right forum.
I have a Dell Inspiron 20 model 3052 series with a cracked screen. I need to know if only the screen is replaceable or if the screen with digitizer needs to be replaced.
Also, is there a source to get an approximate cost.
Thank you in advance,
Larry
Well, there are always Dell spare parts: 1-800-357-3355. Have your number of practical Service.
I doubt a broken screen is covered by the warranty, assuming that your warranty is still valid. But you can also contact the service out of warranty repair of Dell which should be able to tell how much they would charge to do the replacement in their service center.

Hi ML
Stupid question maybe now but why do you want to update the BIOS on this, I think, fairly new laptop model?
Have you noticed a few issues or hardware issues? -
Hello everyone, it has been a while. I had some problems with my SR5505F, I run Memtest + 86 on a barrette of RAM (2x2gb) both, but first wanted to check/upgrade the BIOS in case that was the problem, problem is, I upgraded the OS from Vista to Windows 7, and the BIOS for this model only offer the choice for Vista 32 and Vista 64 What should I do, my last update of the BIOS shows 2008. Thanks for any help.
Yes, I wouldn't risk.
You can always make a system image to install W7 using W7 backup tool, reinstall Vista, Flash the BIOS and reinstall W7 from your image backup. You will need to do a W7 boot CD or use your installation disk of W7 and instead of the installation option, select repair your computer option at the bottom left of the installation screen. Then select restore from an image system or what is the closest that verbage thing.
No vista installation media?
You can do it yourself. See below... beginning on page 289.

The HP ENVY h8-1500z with a new video card upgrade
Hello
My current video card is a 1 GB of Nvidia that came with the installer and requires more power. I want to upgrade the video card for this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131562) this map requires power and this kind of care.
I opened my PC and it looks like the current power is 300W, but I do not see a card for a video about this card. My question is: Y at - it sort of an adapter I can use with existing PS? If I need to exchange the PS, can I use any power supply in this PC? It will be (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139050) to adapt and work? If not, what suggestions do you have?
Thanks for the help.
Wanted to add that I am running:
6-core AMD FX 6120 to 3.50 Ghz
14 GB of RAM
64-bit OS Win Pro 8.1
NVidia GeForce GT 620
The graphics card, you want to install on your computer requires a minimum of 500 watts power. The Corsair CX500M that you access will work for your computer and work with your desired graphics card.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
