Install program

for installs a program, where I type password to log on administrator?

If your user account control (aka UAC) is active, then you would allow to locate the installation program or the shortcut and click the right button, and then choose run as administrator. The UAC will kick and stop operations until you acknowledge the warning. If you do not have Administrator status, he will then ask a username and password that does. Once you have completed this procedure, you will be granted elevated privileges that may be needed to complete the installation.

tried to change the home page but no matter what I do, mysearch dial remains there. went to mysearchdial web page, followed their instructions, no use. Tried to run malwarebytes anti-malware and it has not seen anything like that. my browser opens really slow. The Microsoft Security Essentials is not helping either. What should I try next? Thank you very much.

    Hello

The easiest way is probably to make a Reset of Firefox. This will return Firefox to its default settings. Your personal data (bookmarks, history, etc.) will be saved, but you will have to reinstall all your addons.

Firefox - modules to reset and refresh settings

If you don't arrive in the Firefox Orange menu to do the reset and then close Firefox and then hold down the SHIFT key while you open it. This will bring up a menu that gives you the ability to reset Firefox.

The problem is that (as you've identified) there is a chance that Firefox will get hijacked again if you are unable to remove malware from your computer.

You can try these free programs to search for malicious software that work with your existing anti-virus software:

I also suggest looking at the list of programs for starting and turning off one you don't want to or don't recognize. All that is originally from the diversion of mysearchdial is likely to be listed in the startup list, because he wants to run as soon as the computer starts.

I hope this helps. Let me know if not.

  • After a fresh install of XP SP3, does not work my previously installed programs. What should do?

Had a problem when the power is gone, just as I have to boot my system. It resulted in a corrupted system file. Tried to fix it by using the original installation of Windows XP SP3 CD, but arrived at a position where Windows wanted my password but then refused to recognize. Repeated the process twice more just to be sure, and then made a new installation instead. Well it worked for me get into Windows, but now none of my previously installed programs want to run. Well, so far I tried Office 2010, work, Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 and Adobe Reader without success. None of these or any other program on the machine come in the list of all programs and I am betting that goes into the Windows Explorer, select all the executable files of installed programs and click on run will fail for them the same as it has for the ones I've tried so far. Is there a solution that will enable Windows to recognize programs that were already installed when I ran the new XP installation?

I am at a loss to explain how, if you were doing a re-install of XP destructor, the Program Files folder is intact. Unless maybe you left in the current file system intact before beginning installation (I've never tried this option), but even in this case, it would be wise to start with a folder Program Files new and clean install.

Assuming that all your data is backed up and verified OK as saved, re-setup (with format) could be your best option. You could make a rod for your own back continuous you, at this time.

  • start to > all the programs menu is missing from installed programs. admin user account disappeared.

From the start > all the Programs window miss me all the Microsoft Office programs that are installed on my computer.  Some other installed programs are missing in this menu.  In which case I have shortcuts on my desktop, programs are always accessible and functional.  Also my administrator account is missing, although my account has administrator privileges.  When this happened there was a wink to my office and some icons have disappeared while that others moved around.  I have loaded the disc of MS Office and ran repair without result.

    Hello swuser, welcome.

What it sounds like, is that Windows creates a new user with admin access account and then migrate parts of your data on. This is probably due to corruption on the part of your "old" user account

My suggestion, rather that to re - install all your programs, would be to simply make a copy of your desktop shortcuts and drag them into the START > all programs >... destinations.

If you need find the shortcuts for some programs, we can tell you where programs actually exist in Windows. Let us know exactly what it is you are missing and we can see if we can help you.

Regarding Microsoft Office, you can find the actual programs by visiting here:

    1. click on START
    2. click on 'my computer '.
    3. double-click on "disk Local (c)"
    4. double click on "Program Files".
5 double click on "Microsoft Office".
    6 double-click on "Office12".
    7. find "WinWord12.exe", right click and go to send to > desktop (create shortcut)
    8. find "Excel.exe", right click and go to send to > desktop (create shortcut)
9 find "PowerPnt.exe", right click and go to send to > desktop (create shortcut)
    10. find "Outlook.exe", right click and go to send to > desktop (create shortcut)
11 go ahead and find the rest of the Office applications in this folder. Follow the same instructions as above. Most of the Office applications have some identifiable names (such as Microsoft Access = Access.exe)

  • Why don't I have as many files XP update [start / Control Panel / Add or remove programs / currently installed programs and updates]

Trying to clean up the hard drive, among other things, I found the following in files

XP [start /control Control Panel / Add or remove programs / currently installed programs and updates]

22 updates for ms office 2003 dating from 22/01/2007.

8 updates for the 2007 office system compatibility pack that goes back to the 10/02/2010

190 updates for Windows XP, which dates back to the 29/06/2006

6 updates for windows xp media center edition 2005, which dates back to the 29/06/2006

Are all these necessary, and if not, how can I do to clean them?

    Thank you.

    Hi Renee-me,

I recommend that you do not uninstall the updates that are installed on your computer.

Windows Update makes the secure PC and helps run smoothly.

For more information, refer to this link: Windows Update

We suggest to delete the Windows updates only in troubleshooting an issue that may have been caused by an update. Refer to KB 310312 for more information on how to use the disk cleanup to free up space on the hard disk.

    Hope the helps of information.

  • I have a spot for use at other comments, how do I install programs like word on the comments page

I have a guest spot for use to third parties, on my computor. How can I install programs like 'Word' and e-mail on the page 'comments '.

There are many limitations on the guest account, this is why you cannot see Word or are unable to open it.

Instead of using the guest account, create a new standard user account, it should provide access to most of the programs, but is still limited.

  • Most of my installed programs is not listed when you click on programs.

    Original title: lack of programs

I am running vista professional.  When I click on all programs. most of my installed programs may not be listed.

In this case, I would try to determine if the programs are always installed at all (and perhaps only shortcuts are missing).

To find, you can consult the Program Files folder by clicking on start > computer, then opening your C: drive, then the Program Files folder to explore.

If the programs are there, you can create new shortcuts for them. Although some programs that can make it difficult.

A simpler solution may be trying to restore to an earlier date even, or reinstall programs.
