  The valid oracle package is available for Oracle Linux, RHEL not. Oracle-validated packages will fire the installation of the required packages and also configure your account settings and the oracle kernel.

  I do the installation of 10g of obiee. I will have two boxes unix as primary and secondary and want to make it as NAS is shared between the two servers of the cluster. So I need to install it on a box mmee or both boxes.

  Yes, you must install OBIEE on both boxes. However, you will need to a part of the cluster with a box including the cluster controller running BI servers on both boxes. You can use the NAS to store the global cache.

• Installation of client 10g XE UI on disk.

  I tried to install just the client on my computer (spec home computer laptop-runningXP OK), but it not offfer any options, you need to install the whole package. I want just the client on the remote, not the full package XE. Any help would be greatly appreciated. As you will be realized, I'm a newbie to Oracle.

  XE is a complete database installation. If you just want to install the client, you have several choices depending on what you plan to do with the customer.

  1. install SQL Developer, which is a GUI SQL client - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/sql-developer/downloads/index.html
  2. install a bare bones client called InstantClient - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/features/instant-client/index-097480.html
  3. install a full client - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/112010-win32soft-098987.html

  Anyone know if there is a 10g client that runs on a Linux RHEL 5 x 86 platform 64? I tried to install the Oracle database 10g Client Release 2 (10.2.0.1.0) for Linux x 86-64 (from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/10201linx8664soft-092456.html), but he complained and said that he was looking for redhat-3, 4-redhat, suse-9 and a few other flavors.

  Its better to have the installation of the agent in your local system. During the development, sometimes you may be interested in using the local agent for some purposes of R & D. As you connect the lies of the repository in the server, you can use the agent running inserver in your local system.

  Previously, I installed the HFM 11.x client in my machine and after tht I uninstalled and it succeeded
  After tht, I am installing the 9.3 version it says tht higher version already exists and asking to uninstall the previous version

  I would try the following:

  -Run the uninstaller to remove (it looks like you already did)
  -Check that the installation folder is deleted and gone (i.e. c:\hyperion)
  -Check that the path and of the environment variables are allowed out (i.e. HYPERION_HOME)
  -Open the editor in the Windows registry (regedit.exe) and navigate to:
  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hyperion Solutions

  If you have any Hyperion software installation, I would remove the tree of Hyperion Solutions entrire. If you have several Hyperion products installed, I would remove the Hyperion financial management tree.

  (I suspect that the registry is the problem in this case)

  Mandatory NOTE: editing the registry is a journey full of danger and if you aren't careful you might break things manually. If you are uncomfortable at all with the registry change, don't. If you think you're OK, first make a backup of the registry or create a restore point in Windows so that you can roll back the changes.

• scriping aside client 10g

  I have a function written in java that calculates the number of pages in a report, until it is produced with jasper. The works of functions like that...
  
  1. I calculate the number of pages estimated in a report and put that value in a variable.
  
  2. If the report is very large (more than 100 pages) a dialogue window will open advising usage there will be over 100 pages you do still want to produce the report?
  
  3. If the user selects Yes, the report is generated in PDF format and the user can use the PDF Viewer to display and sent to a printer.
  
  The steps above are currently made in java but I have a problem with the response object already committed when the user selects 'Yes' in the 'NB of pages' dialog box that opens. The report is not feed set up servlet back to send the report to the client. The servlet works very well for pages less than 100 pages because the dialogue is not called.
  
  How can I set up the 'NB of pages' dialog box with javascript in jdev 10g. I'm not versed with Javascript worm and try to stay away from him, but this looks like a suitable place to use it (I think).

  -Unzipeed to D:\instantclient_11_1\
  
  3. set the library load path in your environment in the directory in step 2 ("instantclient"). On many UNIX platforms, LD_LIBRARY_PATH is the appropriate environment variable. On Windows, path must be used.

  You can check the settings by using the "set" command in an MS-DOS box.

  Then try to connect as follows, if you want to use tnsnames.ora:

  You can also try "easy connect":

  I installed 10.2.0.3.0 32 bit on Server 2008 R2 x 64. It does not work and I get a page not found error when I navigate to our application. I know that I have to install a group of patches or something more recent than 10.2.0.3.0. How to install the Group of hotfixes 32bits 10.2.0.4.0 on my server? Is there a different group of patches that I need to install? When I tried to install the patches group, he said:

  As long as you succeed ORACLE_HOME correctly to work on your different databases, having more than one version of Oracle on a server is not a problem.
