  Gateway provides an XP driver for your laptop specific model? Go to the gateway support site to find out. I can't check for you because their site needs the serial number, not the model number. If this isn't the case, then XP is not supported on your computer. You need live without sound or put Vista on the machine. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  Is your computer 32-bit or 64-bit?  You can find by clicking Start > Control Panel > system and security > system and look under "System Type".   I bought new parts for an old PC: card MOTHER, video card, SSD, etc. However, currently the old parts that I have that I thought were able to move to the new computer - optical drive - are too old, because they use IDE instead of SATA cables.

  Could you clarify what the error code 5aa means exactly? I get this error code when getting the "Insufficient resources" error when trying to install/upgrade my Motorola Network Interface driver, but the same error code appeared recently when I tried to install the latest version of my application of attachment, which gave me the same error code even if instead of "insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service." , it was in response to
  'UpdateDriverForPlugAndPlayDevices err is 5aa'.
  I could only solve this problem by installing an older version. I think to understand it this error code would better identify the source of this problem.
