  All programs in my install installed no problem but on Acrobat, it fails. When I run the installer there is a message that a reboot of the machine is detected... it does not exist.

  I've updated Windows (and anything else I could find), repair Microsoft Visual C++ uses the Adobe cleaning tool, uninstalled all CS5.5 and started with a new download.
