Installing a version upgrade to a new PC

I'm upgrading the scrapping of a PC on which I have Windows 7 Edition Home Premium (retail upgrade version) installed, which was an update of XP. I'm building a new PC with Windows 7 Professional. Is it possible to switch to Win7 Pro on the new machine without first completely install the Home Premium version on it?

If your computer comes with a qualifying previous license such as Windows Vista or Windows XP and the certificate of authenticity is still attached to the machine in good condition, then the COST is reason enough to represent the compliance to the software license agreement. No previous required software installation, which means you can do a clean install with Windows 7 Upgrade disk.

How to do a clean install with upgrade disc:

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD

Click Install now

Accept the license agreement

When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Click on drive Options

Select the disc/s click on Delete

Click new

Click on apply

Click OK

Click Format, and then click next to proceed with the installation

Skip entering your product key Windows 7 and complete the installation.

When you reach the desktop, click Start, right-click on computer

Click on properties

Scroll down to the Windows Activation

Click the link x days before activation.

Click on the link that says: "show me other ways to activate.

Enter the product key

Click next

Select the Activation of the phone

Click Next when you enter your key page

Select your country

Click Next, call the number listed

Be sure to explain your situation to the Appeals Officer.

Provide the installation generated when ID requested by the call agent

They give a confirmation ID in return, enter it

Click next to complete the activation.

However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.

15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

So, if you are always denied, you will just have to reinstall Windows XP or Vista and let it do the verification of eligibility.

  • Install Windows 7 upgrade on the new hard drive?

I have the Windows 7 upgrade version that I installed last September, but a few days ago my hard drive died.  How do we install the version 7 upgrade on the new hard drive without using a previous version of windows on it?

In order to install the Windows 7 upgrade version, you must have a system of eligible operating Windows installed and activated.  You cannot install a version upgrade of Windows 7 on a drive blank.  The installation procedure you do not insert a Windows disk in the drive for verification, eligible operating system must be installed.

If you do not have a qualification system of operating Windows installed with an activated genuine license, then you can not use the version upgrade of Windows 7 - you would need a license of Windows 7 "full version".

    In summary:

    1. a Windows operating system to eligible address must be installed.
    2. the Windows operating system to eligible address must have a genuine license (product key) and it must be enabled.
    3. to upgrade, boot on the eligible Windows desktop, insert the Windows 7 upgrade disc in the DVD player.
    4. when the menu appears, select custom (advanced option) to a clean install procedure.

You should be able to repair the installation, if your installation one fall. I suggest create you a System Image (backup) of your installation of Windows 7 after installation of Windows 7 in order to spare you the trouble if your computer one fall in the future.

You can work around this two ways, I would suggest that you create a System Image (backup) of your installation of Windows 7 after installation of Windows 7 in order to save you the trouble if your computer loses the system failure or instability. Hi Rob,

You must install first Windows XP and upgrade to Windows Vista.

If you have a genuine copy of Windows XP, after you install Windows XP you can contact support for Microsoft's Activation to activate the copy of Windows XP.

  • Move a version upgrade to a new computer

I am running Windows 8 Pro on my desktop I built from scratch in 2008. My path to the current operating system went Vista Ultimate Edition (full version) > Windows 7 Professional (updated) > Windows 8 Professional (upgrade). All the steps have been performed with the new software of the retail (not OEM versions) and I got all the records & codes activation. I'll add that I bought and installed upgrading Win8 less than a month ago.

Since then, I decided to build a new computer using the Haswell i7 architecture and an SSD for the boot drive, and I want to start with a clean OS install. The old system will be eliminated parted and the boot drive is destroyed.
Is there a way to install my license Pro Win8 existing on the new system? If so, is it possible to do without the installation of Vista and upgrade to Win7 and then Win8? I guess I should buy a new Pro Win8 license, but it will cost nearly $300 if I merge the $90 I just spent from Win7 to Win8.
Any advice will be appreciated. -Pete-

  • How do we install student version CS5 on my new computer?

The license says that it may be on 2 computers at the same time, so I would not disable it immediately on my old computer. I just want to install it on my new for now.

Install it and activate using your serial number.

    CS5 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-product-downloads.html

There is no special version that presents itself as version student... it is the same software under another version... license/serial number is the only thing that is different.

  • Windows 7 student version is identical to the full version upgrade if I'm upgrading from XP

Windows 7 student version is identical to the full version upgrade if I'm upgrading from XP

    Ronnie,

Thanks, if it is so why Microsoft sells version upgrade to the full version of its operating system, I was going to buy a full version, but if the student version will do exactly the same thing I may as well save the money. Also, I was wondering what was the difference between student and other versions of office, you views would be appreciated because it is all a bit confusing. Thank you once again.
    Regards Simon Cheetham

The difference between Windows 7 full version and upgrade versions is a matter of convenience.

The full version of Windows 7 does not require that you have a license of qualification to be eligible for the upgrade.

In order to install the Windows 7 upgrade version, you must have a system of eligible operating Windows installed and activated.  You cannot install a version upgrade of Windows 7 on a drive blank.

You can do the same thing with the student version, which makes the different student version is applied reduction if you have an account valid .edu.  There is no difference is the code of a regular retail upgrade version.

Also, I must point out, updates make it affordable for consumers to spend in future versions. For example, the PC I'm running now provided with Windows XP Professional, I didn't buy the Windows Vista Business Upgrade, Windows 7 Professional Upgrade instead of buying full versions of these newer versions.

Also, I was wondering what the difference was between the students and the other versions of microsoft office, you views would be appreciated because it is all a bit confusing.

One is a productivity suite and the other is an operating system. If you are referring to editing Office home and student, good Office Home and Student edition allows you to install on 3 computers. She is allowed only for noncommercial purposes. You are not eligible to reductions in upgrade for future versions. Andre Da Costa http://adacosta.spaces.live.com http://www.activewin.com

  • MY DELL LATITUDE D610 HOW CAN I UPGRADE TO THE NEW VERSION OF WINDOWS? NOW IT IS WINDOWS 7, WHAT VERSION IS SUPPORT FOR USE WELL ON MY DEVICE?

MY DELL LATITUDE D610 HOW CAN I UPGRADE TO THE NEW VERSION OF WINDOWS? NOW IT IS WINDOWS 7, WHAT VERSION IS SUPPORT FOR USE WELL ON MY DEVICE? PLEASE HELP ME

Read this: upgrade Windows 10 Dell Latitude D610

Take a look at my answer, complete instructions.

Basically speaking, Dell officially supports Windows 2000 and Windows XP on Dell Latitude D610 (and other models of Dx10).

However it can really run Windows Vista and 7 at least, as long as you max out the RAM (2 GB, 2 x 1 GB, can be purchased at a great price in eBay) and install the drivers, in particular graphics drivers, look in Device Manager and see what drivers are needed manually.

If you're lucky to have a D610 with ATi graphics card then you can even run Windows 8 and 10 with all drivers available, and I can tell you that it won't be slow dog not unlike a lot of people say, I don't have something similar (a HP Compaq nx8220) in common use. Keep as lean as possible (not bloatwares, anti-virus etc.) system, and it will serve you well.

Now I am stuck in a loop after windows xp BSOD installed loads. By simply using the disk win 7 to the custom help (as suggested on the Microsoft web site) install installation is impeccable but not activate. Offices of Microsoft response solution is to buy a new copy. Is there a way to enter in my

No - you must use a Windows 7 key for installation of Windows 7.

Photoshop 4 and 7 upgrade, now Windows 10 does not accept PS 4. How to install my versions?

    Hi Tuulah6441378,

Photoshop 4 and 7 are very old versions, downloads for them are no longer available and the operating system you are using is the most recent, so there will be compatibility problems.

Adobe has not tested these applications on newer operating systems.

I am entitled to an upgrade, as I have CS3 I want to buy a new mac and install the upgrade on the new computer. How can I do this?

If you get two new machines and the CS3 allows you to get the price reduced for a year then you should certainly pursue it.  However, I always recommend people to try before you buy.  When you get the new machines install the trial version and make sure that it works for you correctly.  Once you have confirmed it correct functions, then you can purchase the subscription.

  • Just upgraded to the new version and now adjust no longer works, what is the solution?

After the upgrade to a newer version the shrink to fix the width of the screen no longer works. What is the solution?

Code changes for the HiDPI landed in Firefox 22 and later (bug #844604).

You can change the layout.css.devPixelsPerPx and increase or decrease the value of 0.1 or 0.05 as follows to adjust the size of fonts and other elements in Firefox.

    • The layout.css.devPixelsPerPx pref is a string parsed in float value and allows you to adjust the dimensions of all elements (user interface and web pages) specifically (resolution 0.1 or 0.05).
    • You can use values between 0.05 and 1.0 to reduce the size of the elements or use a value greater than 1.0 to grow and enlarge the elements (percentage divided by DPI, % / DPI).

If the web pages must be adjusted after changing this pref so you can watch Default FullZoom Level or NoSquint.
