Interface and installation of my instrument with lab view and keithely, GPIB-USB-HS

Hai...

We have 236 Keithleu and software vision lab and GPIB-USB-HS. I had the GPIB software installed is OR-488. 2 3.1.1

Now, I had the indication like that.

1. in Kethely no indication

2. in GPIB +'s got orange led in ready icon.

3 but if I runt the program I found no results.

So can you me the interfacing of the keithlye and alo for the GPIB and also computer.

Regads.

The pilot here can help you. I suggest you first learn how to set up the action manually. Then study the programming guide to understand what commands you need and the settings for them. Good luck.

  • With LabVIEW how to control an instrument with a RS232 output, using a USB RS232 converter cable.

With LabVIEW how to control an instrument with a RS232 output, using a USB RS232 converter cable, since I do not have rs232 ports. I have two instruments I want for the control in this way. One is a guarantee of strength Imada SPAS with RS232 output. The other is a micrometer Panasonic HL-G103-S-J laser sensor which is RS422. I have done significant programming LabVIEW using GPIB, but I have no experience with devices such as these. No matter what tutorial or examples would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

When you plug the USB-RS-232 converter, it installs a driver under Windows which makes it look like any other RS-232 port.  You may need to install the driver of everything that came on the CD with the converter.  It will get a Com as Com5 port number according to what is the next available number.

  • Difference between NI GPIB-USB-HS + and NI GPIB-USB-HS

I would like to know the difference between GPIB USB HS + and HS (without the +)
Seems to me that the HS has not onboard GPIB analyzer but with a GPIB ASIC chip.

Main difference is speed, which is strange, the HS has a speed faster than the HS +.

Any person using or has used before these two? Is there a difference in user POV?

The + said 1830 kB/sec, which equals 1.8 MB/s. You do not understand that?

  • Agilent 82357 B GPIB/USB, problem with distributed applications

    Hello everyone,

I am developing software that communicates with an instrument, with USB, RS232, Ethernet and GPIB interface

On my development PC, I can communicate with my instrument using a 82357 B Agilent GPIB - USB converter, without any problem. (and other interfaces as weel)

I have deployed the application using the Installer application on the target computer Builder. The application works with USB, RS232 and Ethernet interfaces, but I don't see the GPIB interface in the control of VISA resource name.

I followed the advice given by OR when you use a converter USB GPIB of Agilent (Tulip active...)

I did the following tests on the target computer:

-J' installed MAX, and I can communicate with the VISA test panel using the GPIB-USB converter.

-J' made a small application with the VISA resource find included

-If I unplugged the converter USB/GPIB instrument, the VISA to find the function return resource: GPIB0::INTFC, COM3, COM4, LPT1 COM7

-If I plug the converter to the instrument, the function of resource VISA finds return nothing.

-If I run the interactive command of VISA, I got the following error:

Cannot find the resource by using expression? " »

    error: BFFF003A

    Name of the State VI_ERROR_INV_SETUP

I'm using LabView 8.5 under windows XP.

I have included in the installer

    -Run LabView 8.5

    -VISA 4.4 duration

The target computer is running Vista.

Thanks for your help and your support.

    Hello everyone,

For your information, I have solved the problem in desinstalling then reinstalling my installation software on the target computer.

I still don't know where the problem was, but it's working now. (even with the version of the driver 15.0 agilent)

    Thanks anyway for your help.

  • Why Lab View gives controls a pilot to VI!

    Hello

I downloaded a pilot project that has been developed with Lab View 2009sp1. Now this use of project with LV2010.

To do this, I have the library installed in instr.lib. But when I opened a few VI, I discovered that Lab View have added elements of control.

Why is it so and how stop this behavior?

  • Insulator usb and GPIB-USB-HS

    Hi all!

I'm trying to control a range of aglient with a labview program.

everything works well, but for my application the scope must be one reason other than the computer.

    so I bought a usb isolator: http://www.bb-europe.com/product_family.asp?FamilyId=651

but when I plug the reach through it, it is no longer recognized by windows. If I plug the GPIB-USB-HS only, it is not recognized nor.

GPIB standard speed is 1.8Mbits / s, so I chose the UH401SL (low speed), and the GPIB-USB-HS is compatible with USB 1.x, so for me it is not a problem of transfer speed...

    any ideas?

    THX

Power would have been a problem, but the speed was probably just as well. The GPIB-USB-HS is designed for USB 2.0 high speed, but also works with USB 1.1 Full Speed(12 Mbits/s). It is not designed to work with USB Low Speed, because most computers with USB implemented USB 1.1 or later. It is virtually impossible to find a USB port that does not support Full-Speed at, but apparently this insulator is an exception. Low speed is usually reserved for devices with needs bandwidth close to zero, as keyboards.

I must also point out that the maximum speed of the GPIB-USB-HS is 1.8 MB/s, which is of 14.4 Mbps, before taking into account overhead Protocol USB or traffic from other USB devices on the system. This puts a little above the capabilities of Full-Speed USB, and much more than can be supported with USB low-speed.

  • Connection of an instrument with GPIB-USB connection.

I am trying to use a GPIB-USB adapter to control a unit of Source of LabView. However, I have problems my instrument drivers to recognize the GPIB address specified for the device. I have attached an image below the address specified by IO Keysight connection Expert. I am currently trying to initialized the EMS with the GPIB driver I have attached below. Because of my knowledge limited in LabView instrument control, how should I approach of collecting the correct address of GPIB and recognize it in my VI?

    Hi wyattcurtis824,

Before we dig into the LabVIEW code, I would recommend a Test Panel of max aperture and trying to communicate with. Are you able to send orders via Keysight connection Expert or NI MAX and see the valid data?

In addition, when you run the vi in LabVIEW, is pilot it returns an error in the error on the box? If so, what the error is?

This shoule information help us to the root of the problem.

  • readings of Veristand instruments with a remote system

I'm new to the National Instruments and Veristand material and I'm trying to use an instrument with Veristand to see if I can get readings of this instrument. I use a PC with Windows Vista and I am connected via a network to a PXI-8108 controller in a PXI-1050 chasiss chassis. The instrument is just a thermocouple which I use to become familiar with everything. The thermocouple is connected and the connection SCB-68 block which is connected to a PXI-6221 multifunction data acquisition in the chassis. I am able to create a task in MAX under remote system and everything seems to work. What I want to do is to get the readings in Veristand, and I don't know if I need to create a custom device that is related to the acquisition of data somehow, or if there is another way to do it. I created the DAQ hardware in the system Explorer, but I see no way to link the real DAQ hardware on the remote system. I wonder if anyone can help with this.

    All advice is appreciated.

    Thank you

You can read the value of your thermocouple directly from VeriStand channel, but the process is different than using MAX.

In the system Explorer, add your DAQ hardware that is wired to your SCB-68. Make sure that you specify the same name (i.e. ' Dev1'), which is the make up something, you also that you have imported the peripheral canal which hangs to the thermocouple (i.e. "ai0"). There is no way in System Explorer to specify that this channel should be scaling of thermocouple. VeriStand initially served this string value value brute power. However, you can set the limit high and low for this channel to something small as +/-1V, since thermocouples have very small readings.

You add the balance to your system separately after the deployment of the system definition, you have created the target of RT. For this to connect to the target using the workspace and select the tool to the workspace on the Tools menu called channel scaling and Calibration Manager.

In this dialog box, you will see your TV listed DAQ. Navigate in the dialog box assign an appropriate scale of thermocouple to your channel. Once this is done, the target will remember the scale for this channel until what crush you.

    Help, please

I suspect that most of the facilities of LabVIEW on Windows consists of LabVIEW 32 bit running on an operating system 64-bit Windows (for the most part, Windows 7, 8 and 10).  As you noted, all the toolboxes have 32-bit versions, and many do not have 64-bit versions (although that is changing).  If you don't need the memory of the large model (and have the memory to support), I recommend sticking with 32-bit LabVIEW.  You will have less room for error and Confusion.

  • Synchronization and optimization of keithley-Labview with GPIB-USB

I started an old thread on this subject, but I have some new problems. My vi is to control a Keithley sourceMeter to read measurements every 5 ms for 6 to 10 hours, using GPIB-USB. The vi simply sends the commands under a full script to the instrument and then bed measures (voltage and current) in a loop using the visa and saves the data and displays them in a second loop using a queue. I decided to use a queue and a second loop due to the delay caused by reading data, save them in a file + display, all in a single loop! I want to be able to see all the data with real time axis, so I used a xy chart.

Having a shorter time in the upper loop isn't a bad idea.  Using the wait until the next ms multiple rather than just the Dequeue wait time can cause the occasional time jumps.

I have no LV open now, so I'll try to remember your VI.  I think you picked up 3 data values and a timestamp of each 5 ms.  It is 800 items every second. If you want to save all the data but only write to the file every 5 seconds, you will have to accumulate 4000 items. Because file entries are not always made exactly when you ask them because of the behaviour of the OS, you must allocate a bit more wide open spaces.  You can initialize an array 2D as 1200 X 4 (1200 lines of 4 columns) of NaN. Place this table into a shift register.  Every time you Dequeue data, replace the next line with the data.  When you write to produce, use the subset of the array to get the part that was replaced with real data and write the part in the file.  Return the initialized array of NaN in the registry to offset and continue to replace the data.
