Interfacing of FTP LabVIEW Sorenson XBT 32-3

I am programmer LabVIEW novice XBT Sorenson 32-3FTP DC Power Supply out of Labview execution attempt, so that I can integrate it as a sub VI into my current program.  My control requirements are minimal, I only need to do two things; Turn the power on (or begin just to the power of the source, or the other option is acceptable) and adjust the voltage level at the appropriate level, button or text entry. My questions are twofold;

  1. Web site OR claims that all drivers on the website of Sorenson are compatible with a GPIB connector, but never mention the possibility of using a USB connector.  Mr. Sorenson thinks or the other of these two drivers would work, as well as an RS-232 cable. I just wanted to make sure it's true, because I'm in trouble if only GPIB is taken care.

  2. If the work of wiring USB so that a GPIB connector, so I wonder if there is anything out there that could achieve both in the database, or even just a suggestion or two of how to manipulate the Sorenson Sub VI of to perform this task.

It doesn't seem like it should be difficult, but when I opened the pre-built drivers for supply, total confusion intervened.

The power supply is:

http://sine.NI.com/apps/UTF8/niid_web_display.model_page?p_model_id=15920

The Power Supply Site is here:

http://www.Sorensen.com/products/XBT/XBT_Downloads.htm

This power comes standard with a USB connection and a RS-232 (serial) connection. The GPIB connection is optional, and unless you bought it, you won't have it. The drivers themselves are written using VISA. VISA supports talking to the instruments or via RS-232, GPIB, TCP/IP (ethernet) or USB. You specify the type of connection via the name of resource VISA. If you open a pilot on the screws, you will see the name of resource VISA control. If you click on the drop down arrow for that, you will get a list of the recognized instruments. This is MAX (Measurement and Automation Explorer).

For USB the instrument must support the Protocol USBTMC. The datasheet for food involves USBTMC, but is not explicit.

For RS - 232 all you will see are the COM ports on your computer.

So, if you have a standard diet, you can simply connect a cable RS-232 for her and the driver can be used. You need to configure the parameters of the serial port with the VI initialize. If you want to try the USB drive, you should check with Sorensen that he does not support the Protocol USBTMC. If Yes, you can install the USB driver and it should appear in MAX (and therefore resources VISA control).

  • Where are the guidelines on how to interface custom for LabVIEW data acquisition equipment?

I have a need to do some very specialized data acquisition that may require special hardware for the building. I would still use LabVIEW as the front end and maybe even wear parts of the interface of the final product. However, I can't find the documentation. Where is that is kept? I've seen references to a number of generic protocols, no links back to the details, which may be appropriate. The data are a band high bandwidth, but bursty with sampling frequency up to 40 MHz and events that lasts about 100 milliseconds. Can anyone recommend various methods would be most suitable for this application?

  • reset the ftp labview 2011

Hi, I was working with LabVIEW 2010 and I have programmed a VI to transfer a file and check containing the path remote, everything was fine. Now, I've changed to LabVIEW 2011 and I can't find the function "reset ftp" and my VI no longer works. I'm not sure of the origin of my problem, I guess that it is not working because I do not have anything to reset the conection or if I need to use the other function to fix this.

I have programmed a new LabVIEW VI 2011 without the function "reset ftp" and it does not work in any case.

I hope you can help me.

Hi Eric_NI, I solved my problem. I checked the block diagram of the "get file" function and I found the correct way to implement FTP. Also, I use 'active = False' for all the functions that have the "active" option

  • Alert about the NOOB - interface DIY to labview circuit suggestions?

    Good afternoon everyone,

Long story short, I did not use labview in years and years and years.  I wrote code built-in to most and c# and the design material since my days of recording data.  As fate would have, I just become used by a very very large company that seems to have a love with Labview interest, so I will use to automate some tests and other whatnot.  For everything that I have, it is clear how to go.  I'm more concerned about how I could make interface labview for personalized, switches, relay, simple stuff like that stuff.  Maybe just control and not proofreading.

So my question is, is there, and if so, what is it, a circuit interface that would allow me to plug and interface to a piece of custom circuitry.  I'm guessing a series or USB or maybe even an interface chip FTDI or something would seem logical.  I can do everthing beyond that, I don't want to go down rabbit hole if there is a proven simple circuit already out there.  I know there are few interfaces (myDaq?), you can buy, but I'm hoping to find a way that I can't buy anything and I can just incorporate some little project that I do.

I googled around and have yet to find anything.  A general topology is good, a schema is better, a diagram with code source (if necessary) is ideal.

So what you know?  and thanks in advance.

What is and Arduino? They are cheap and once you have something doesn't work, you can load the bootstrapper Arduino Atmel virgins and incorperate into your design.

It is predefined code LabView as cominucates with an Arduino and use it as a simple Board DAQ/DIO. That is, it must always be teathered it do not program the Arduino to run stand alone.

  • We can the material interface with other labview material

I have to do my final year project which is to measure the current and voltage using labview. So I want to know that can we interface material other than material with labview. I need help. Help me please.

Of course you can.  Probably there are only rare cases where you can not.  The best way to interface depends on the material.

What material you are trying to work with?  To get help, you will need to provide certain information.

  • A button user interface leads in labview

    Hi all

I'm relatively new to Labview and I'm working on a project related to control systems. I have with me is an old program written in 1996 for a DOS system based which interacts with a device controller of tank water and allows the control of a double water tank system. The software is used for the teaching of laboratory of control systems. I have to upgrade the software using labview.

The part that I'm not able to understand is how to make a GUI similar to that of the old software. I need a welcome with several buttons screen indicating the different types of control, that the software can perform (PID, fuzzy etc..) When a particular button is clicked, the screen changes and a new interface appears with the controls and indicators relevant to the chosen option, there may be buttons for further suboptions as well.

I tried to use the Structure of the event, for different actions, corresponding to different keys, but on the front panel, that all controls and indicators for the different types of control have appeared together, which isn't what I want. Help, please!

  • Data flow of the User Interface general problem (LabVIEW 2012)

I have problems reading & checking to a tab group user input (see the "Test settings" tab in the attached example).

Essentially, I need to define and test many parameters.

In the example, I need to create a bitmask of four switches to selection. Only the system works a treat, but in the context of

the Panel tabs switches are never 'reached '. I tried to put some time structure around the switches (which works ex vivo

See attached 'channelselect.vi') but the switches are never reached when I'm not in the code. Basically, I don't want

Leave the pane until all parameters have been set and verifyied.

I tried business structures (per group), structures plate Structures (group picture by picture), event (change nutton event)

I expect the same problems with the other parameter sets. I need to change - set - check, in an order any.

Understand that the "adjustment" mechanism is linked to a sub-vi/class method where the parameter is tested, defined and verified.

It is a long-term approach to the fundamental question "How would you have it out"? I don't know that it is a misunderstanding of basic

my part of the dataflow paradigm. I'm not looking for anyone to do my work for me, but I want to understand how this

Works I can get on with my day.

Thanks in advance for any help that you can present.

You can still have the tab control.  It is just useless to do all your processing when the user changes the tab.  You can do event on the button presses as well.  Treat the VI as a whole VI, not different tabs that you have to manage.

  • The Web of LabVIEW user interface directly to the sensor with Ethernet connection

    Hello

Is it possible to connect to the interface user Web of LabVIEW directly to a sensor with Ethernet connection?

By directly, I mean without using any Web Service LabVIEW VI.

    Thank you

    Marcelo

    Hello

The only communication with other devices using the Web user interface designer is through web services, either motorized or not LabVIEW. To connect with a sensor with the generator of the user Web interface without using LabVIEW, the sensing device must be accessible via HTTP and give you a way to read its data using XML web services based on.

  • description interface LabVIEW node will not work when compiling

    Hello

I have a vi that seeks VISA resources and focuses on their name of the interface to select that you connect to.

I have a strange problem where, if I run the vi in labview it works fine. When the vi is compiled into an exe file, it does not work.

I traced the problem to the property node "name of Inst Intf' which gives the description of the interface. In Labview, the node of this property returns the description of the interface, as expected.

When I compile the vi, this node property returns empty strings.

The station nearest you, that I could find to this kind of problem is it

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/instrument-control-GPIB-serial/why-visa-property-interface-information-inter...

However, the exe is running as an administrator, so I don't think it's a problem with permissions.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have no idea of what was the cause, but I uninstalled the device drivers for the hardware I used, reinstalled and then restarted the computer and now it works fine.

  • labVIEW Arduino interface

    Hey,.

I've interfaced arduino and labVIEW 2012. I run the LIFA_Base file in the window of the arduino and then close it and run my program in labVIEW. whenever I have stop the labVIEW program and the next time I run the program in labVIEW, that it's not until I reupload the LIFA firmware. So, what is the solution such that I did not download the LIFA firmware every time.

    Good quick response.

    Rich.

    Rich,

I think your code is good enough to read the data in series.

Please check the attached sketch (which is the same as what you have downloaded to the arduino) also I join the LabVIEW VI to read data series.

Please make sure that the COM port that you use for arduino should be the same for LabVIEW.

Also close to the arduino.exe (the software through which you have downloaded the sketch.

Then, run the supplied LabVIEW VI.

Better use of the arduino with LabVIEW, you can find step by step here information

  • Connect labview with proteus

How to connect labview to proteus in order to send commands to the microcontroller AVR, there a useful link or source code?
I've heard talk about VISA can you help me with a code example or source?

I don't know anything specific to the APR, but Finder of LabVIEW example has many examples on the realization of serial communication ("Help-> Find examples.." then look for series). If you know the Protocol, then you can use the samples to create right necessary read and write commands.

Also a quick search on Google for 'Labview APR' had this as the top most successful:

  • How to send chr$ (195) in Labview (MAX)

I have an old Philips DMM which needs re - calibrate using the GPIB commands.  I need to send a string starting with CHR$ (195).  I have a GPIB-USB-HS interface and run Labview 9.  To get going me I was using the measurement and automation tool.  Sorry, it's a newbie question, but I can't find the answer.  Thank you

It is quite simple to do in LabVIEW, as shown by the examples given.

But MAX, you can go to the VISA, VI test panel write screen.  Hold down the ALT key while you type 0195 keypad.

  • Error variables look a tab after race change the user interface

    Hello

I have a problem which seems to be a bit like this:

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/NI-TestStand/error-viewing-variables-tab-in-runtime-operator-interface/m-p/1...

The VI I'm running is a step of edit of a type of step. LabVIEW checks if the property 'Step.Setup.ReadMeasName' exists, fills a listbox with her if she does. An another ListBox with all available measure names will also appear on the user interface. The user has an Add and Remove button to remove the 'ReadMeas' list box measures or add them to it of the listbox 'MeasNames '. Several names may be added/removed according to what is selected when you press the buttons. Once 'Fact' is clicked the VI writes the 'Ref' to the list box "ReadMeas" property to "Step.Setup.ReadMeasName", using a node to set the value of property that is passed the TestStand sequence context. If the property does not exist it creates.

The only time where I have any problem is when I try to remove items from the property, after it is already initialized (i.e. non-empty). In other words, if I run the VI of teststand, put several names as in "ReadMeas" click on done, again run the VI (already added names appear in the box when the user interface is displayed, LabVIEW reads "Step.Setup.ReadMeasName"), then remove the names. IF "ThisContext.Step.Setup.ReadMeasNames" has opened in the tab 'Variables' step when you try to remove the names, I got this message in the Variables tab: 'one or more errors occurred. Please save your work and restart the application. "If I'm careful of not having expaded 'ThisContext' in the variables tab, but check the property before and after the removal of names in the list it does not work properly, and there is no error.

This isn't a big problem because I doubt that the end user will check to see that the property has actually filled, but I still want to fix the bug if possible. I installed the patch for TestStand 2010 and the .net Framework 4.0. Someone has an idea of what might be happening here?

    Thank you

    -Josh

    Josh-

Looks like you are running in a known issue 193751, which is documented in TestStand 2010 and 2010 SP1 known issues list. It is a problem that we intend to fix in a future version of TestStand.

I hope this helps and I'm sorry for any inconvenience this issue may cause you.

  • Multisim to interface with the real world material

    Hello

View of Lab is a completely new software for me... I'm trying to findout, is it possible to interface multisim with labview for harware reald circuit I need to design to test the operation and test the parameters of an operational amplifiers real automated using the events of the loop. Could someone help me please

This is the response I got from the technical support of OR

"Although it is technically possible to use Multisim and LabVIEW with real data, we do not recommend it."  Multisim is not a simulator in real time and even for a small circuit, it would take the Simulator several minutes to produce a second, a data value. Since then, Multisim is simply too slow when compare the time in the real world, your application will be not very reliable. »
