Intermittent internet connection.

Hi, I have a Linksys WRT54G Router and have been meet with intermittent internet connection on a daily basis. I tried several things to solve without result. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thank you.

I think that you need to update the firmware on your router.

Go to the Web site template linksysbycisco.com/downloads...insert of your router in search tab... select the correct version of your router... Download the firmware file... save this file on the desktop

The firmware was updated.
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware of the device: -.
Open a page in Internet Explorer browser on a computer hard wired to the router... In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1... Leave name empty username & password admin lowercase usage...

Click the 'Administration' tab - then click on the 'Upgrade Firmware' under the tab-here, click on 'Browse' and navigate the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...

Wait a few seconds until it shows that "the update is successful," after the upgrade of the firmware, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned to the same page OR it will say 'cannot display the Page.

Now reset your router:

Press and hold the button of reset for 30 seconds... Release the reset button... Unplug the power cable from your router, wait 30 seconds and reconnect the power cable... Now re - configure your router...

How you would solve intermittent Internet connectivity?

    Hello Chit mickolo,

Thanks for posting. Intermittent connectivity can occur for several reasons. First to get a better idea of your installation. Do you use the dial-up or high speed internet? You have wireless or wired connectivity, and whether this happens at a time. You have multiple computers on your network? When this happens does occur with all or a computer? What troubleshooting steps have you made so far if necessary to solve this problem?

Once again thanks for posting and I can't wait to hear back on your part.

  • iMac intermittent Internet connection... a little

    Good evening to all!

I have an iMac mid-2011 running on OS X 10.10.5. A few weeks ago it started giving me *. Most of the time, it works very well. However, from time to time (it can vary from once in a weekend several times a day), he abandoned the Internet connection... a little. It is quite complicated to explain, and English is not my native language so patient with me. Randomly, some Web sites and right areas will become inaccessible. Reloading Web pages does not get me anywhere. Does that change the error message in my browser that will come to me. I can also access most video games require an online connection while my iMac is upward. I can quite strangely, still receive and send emails and use applications such as Skype or uTorrent. Some sites Web will always also. Most of the time, YouTube is completely functional. Is the same for the Google search function, although I can not load search results when I click on them. Facebook tends to load with an extremely messed up display. I say 'more' and ' tend to "because it happened a few times that even these sites Web would not load. Applications like Skype and Mail have never failed me up to this point. Homepage of Skype app comes down with the drops, however.

I use mostly Chrome, but the problem is also present on Safari. I've not installed on one of these two browsers of extensions. The problem is not limited to my user. Other iMacs on the network experiment not these drops. Restarted my iMac seems to fix it temporarily. I tried to use other DNS. The issue is extremely intermittent and the 'drops' length varies from a few seconds to an hour. Here are the screenshots of the various errors that Chrome gives me (there is no reason, reload and another one pops up). I know they are in French, but it's the best I can do. I'm really desperate for help because I'm taking courses online soon.

    Thanks in advance,

    A lost Mac user ~.

uTorrent is your problem.  Relying on software illicet means that may have installed something that hurts your connection to the network.  Sorry, but you really need to remove all software obtained torrent.  Get software only directly from the developers and the Mac App Store.  MacUpdate is good also, but never get Mackeeper.

  • intermittent internet connection of HP pavilion x 2

    Hello

I bought a x 2 Pavilion 11.6 "2 in 1 15 days ago and I am constantly thrown out of my internet to explore link (says I have no internet connection) despite the internet access the bars showing the complete connection. My ISP is Virgin.  My old PC that runs windows 7 and new HP daughter divided x 2 13 '' who is running windows 8.1 that connect well to the router at my house and my new links pavillion x 2 fine for the interntet via wifi at home and work without any problem.

I tried to re-creation of my router several times and this solved the problem for about a minute at best.  We bought two laptops through Curry but they refuse to come to the House to make a configuration despite offering to pay for the service and they say that there is no fault woth the PC because it works in some places.

Sometimes to investigate the question of nework arrives with a (999) network connectivity problem, sometimes he said to re - configure the router/modem - but as stated earlier, this only solves the problem for a very short time as HP performs automatice reapirs - (reset the "IntelR wireless-N 7260" adapter) which lasts about a minute.

After having spent £429 on this beautiful piece of equipment please can someone help me to get my emails and the internet?

    Following my message of origin above;

    2 in 1 is a HP Pavilion x 2 11-hoo3sa 11.6 "F4T44EA #ABU

I've updated the media tek 802.11 wireless LAN adaper pilot.  He advised to remove the previous Chuck but I did not do what was not sure where to locate it - is this possible now?  I had already updated the network wireless driver intel 7260 (who had made no difference) there are two other di network = River updates, but they do not seem to be related to my problem, so I did not download them.  I did have the chance to try the new driver but I have to go elsewhere to access the internet to communicate with you all.  If I assign a fixed address as suggested before that would mean that it does not connect when I'm anywhere else?

I'm a pretty confident user of PC - the technical stuff moved from my comfort zone, but will try to follow the instructions.

    Help, please

I had the same problem of intermittent WIFI connectivity, but only on an old router on holiday in Spain.  Everything works very well at home in the United Kingdom.  My flag is fully patched for drivers and windows 8.1.  I just couldn't connect to the router for more than one minute at best.

the difficulty is to force the WIFI card to use the old WIFI Protocol:

    Device Manager-> network adapters-> Realtek RTL8188EE 801.11b/g/n-> properties-> advanced-> Wireless WiFi adapter is IEEE 802. 11 b

probably because that HP haven written their system software successfully to detect old routers that supported the old protocols... like millions of people around the world use every day...

  • Intermittent Internet connection with WPC100 and WRT110

I bought a router WRT110 wireless several weeks ago.  Used with my WPC55AG without any problem at all.  I liked the wireless-N, so I decided to upgrade to a Wireless N notebook card and bought a WPC100.  I can still connect to the router with the signal strength of 100%.  However, when you try to access the Internet, sometimes I can connect to Web sites, but I regularly get an Internet Explorer error message cannot connect to the internet, even if the signal is always 100%.

Tried to go back to my WPC55AG and not to make any connection error messages.  Tried to connect to my router with my PSP and not to make any connection error messages.  Connected to another router wireless that didn't have WPA or WEP using my WPC100 and did not have any connection error messages...

    Any ideas?  Thank you!

I changed my router settings as you suggested, with the exception of the security mode - I left it to WPA - 2 because I wanted the extra security.  It worked fine for a day, until I restarted my laptop...

Then I tried to use your router suggested settings and set the WPA security mode and it works very well for 2 days and several reboots!

Thank you very much for your help with this!

  • Failure of intermittent internet connection using Vista on Verizon DSL

I had problems with Verizon DSL stopping randomly and does not to return to the top for an unacceptable period of time. Oddly, it doesn't happen on the Vista machine at home. None of the Mac has this problem.  If I remove the machine network Vista and replace it with a XP machine is also no problem.  It's on a cable network.

I think I can find some interesting information. What I did was as much the DNS entries my network connection that I could find. I have used google, OpenDNS, DNSadvantage, Verizon, Norton a few steps from my web services and everything else I could find. There certainly reduce questions but had some interesting effects for example one of the URLS pointing to obsolete the secondary DNS information.

I'll post the DNS entries here except those owned by my web host.

I went through all of the so-called "patches" of this problem without success.   What is the solution?  It seriously makes me batty.

    Hi mark11_23,

Got several things for you to try:

    1. How old is your router, you should consider updating the firmware on your router. Some older routers do not sit will be Vista (or 7) and require an update of the firmware.
    2. Update the driver for your NIC directly from the manufacturer's website. You'd be shocked to see how many sons of connection to network on these forums are caused by a newer driver.
    3. No chance that you are able to get the issue of duplicate mode safe?
      http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode
    4. If the problem does not occur in Mode safe mode, go to a clean boot and locate the item causing the problem.

  • WRT320N lose Internet connection

I'm running a 6100G Westell DSL modem, that the modem is connected to a wireless router from Linksys WRT320N, on my laptop, I use a card WUSB600N dual-band wireless n OK know the problem I have is that when the wireless router is connected to the modem my internet keeps going out on my DSL modem. But if I have the Westell Modem connected without the internet router to fade in and out. The internet only fades when the router is connected. How can I fix this.

    Thanks for advance-Aaron

So, you want to say is: when the router is connected between the Modem and computer, you can't go online or you are able to go online but you are facing intermittent internet connection on the problem fall?

As your ISP is a DSL provider there are certain rules to configure your router with the Modem of the DSL provider.

  • WRT160N LOSES INTERNET CONNECTIVITY

I have a wrt160n connected to a Motorola ATT DSL Modem.I only have intermittent internet connectivity. He worked awhile then lose internet connectivity on my XP computer plugged directly on the router, as well as on my laptop vista home wireless. I worked twice with the Linksys support and followed their suggestions of reconfiguration, but the problem persists. The modem ip address is 192.168.1.254. Linksys said to change the default address of the router to 10.10.1.1... I did, but it didn't fix it. Some of the messages on the forum said to change it to 192.168.2.1. I tried and still intermitttent only connectivity. I can bypass the router and go directly to xp destop and it runs rock solid, so the problem is somewhere in the settings of the router. I'm about to renounce it and sell it on ebay and buy an ATT modem/router combo. The Ant is my last resort. Another thing, I downloaded and installed the latest version of the firmware 2.0.02 11.

I'm under the router with DHCP. I use my own SSID with personal WPA2, AES encryption. Linksys support had me change the standard channel to 2,452 GHZ and disable any filtering of the internet. Now, I use an IP from 192.168.2.1.

I am courious to see if anyone has had this router to work on a DSL ATT modem. Also, anyone have any suggestions on where I go from here?

    Thank you

If you have version V2 of this router, you can downgrade the firmware.  See here:

  • Laptops give up the Internet connection intermittently

I have a portable satellite, and my wife has a Tecra laptop. We connect through a PC to the internet via WIFI.

Two notebooks remove the connection to the internet intermittently - to connect in the first place, we need to click on a few favorites in internet explore - only then either connects.

I also connected through a network of friends that is configured in the same way and the same thing happens. It has a portable older tosh which connects perfectly and does not drop the line.

We compared the settings and all seem to be the same, so something else isn't quite right.

I'm running XP (SP2), built in the LAN card (which is fine) and connect via a netgear access point, which is about 2 feet away.

I'd appreciate any help in what he makes us all crazy!

    Hi Hunter

I also use a wireless connection at home. Two of my books (P20 Satellite and Tecra M1) are connected to the Belkin wireless router. Setup was simple and without any problems and I had no problem at all.

Can you please tell me what you use right now (point of access Netgear or desktopPC) for wireless connection? Use you the client or Windows to configure wireless network settings?

  • Intermittent: No Internet connection

On my HP TouchSmart 600-1055 running WIN7 64 bit family professional, I have intermittent problems. Sometimes the icon that looks like a bar graph in the lower right corner contains an asterisk to inform me that even if I have a wireless connection to my network, I don't have access to the Internet. The only way I can get access is to restart the computer.

Is there a command that I could run for re - initialize connectivity without having to reboot? Closing the connection and then reconnect in do not solve the problem. Troubleshooting can't find any problem. Open the network sharing Center was not so far assistance. There may be an option that I have to reset?

I really need a command that deletes this diagram to bars and resarts connection from scratch. I turned my router Cisco Linksys switch to no effect. I haven't touched my Bell modem 2701HG - G high-speed, because my connection is stable. This problem does not occur on any of my other computers on my network.

I also ran the HP Support Assistant, but everything seems OK, once I have an Internet connection. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

First of all, thanks a lot for taking the time to answer. I've delayed until I have studied it more in response to your suggestions.

You suggested a weak wireless signal. This computer is about 4 feet apart, so the signal strength is excellent.

Your comment that some parameters of intellectual property made a mistake was probably the cause of my problem. First of all, I have disabled my wireless and opted for a wired connection. Nothing like a direct cable connection to solve all my problems. Have a computer without problem a few days calmed me enough to try again. I redefined my wireless Internet connection. This product icon barchart containing an asterisk. Then I ran the Ethernet troubleshooting, wireless and other network cards. This allowed me to activate my wireless connection. Finally, I created a restore point. Creating a restore point has become my favorite after all command change s/w.

So far so good. Maybe the wireless knows that if she does not behave I'll replace it with a wire.

Your comments and your similar problems were exactly what I needed to hear. It would be nice if HP could allow some restore settings by default for each h/w device. MS has done this for IE.

Once again thanks for your help to solve this problem.

  • Problem with internet connection 64-bit Windows Vista, unexplained intermittent failure.

original title: PROBLEM CONNECTING WINDOWS VISTA 64 BIT INTERNET - UNEXPLAINED INTERMITTENT OUTAGES

On HP a6542p PC with factory installed Windows Vista (64-bit), Vista operating system program does not take account of Internet broadband, which, in reality, a good connection.  for the first 2 years of operation, the PC internet connection worked well, but a year ago, he started this OFF intermittent / WE internet problem.  SOMETIMES, I can manage to temporarily restore the internet after running randomly across the machine diagnostic & installation programs available to the home screen, OR SOMETIMES also after running REGEDIT in the start (search) bar and watching the TCP/IP settings (do not change them, just watch), but the internet connection drops again after the machine is idle for a few minutes.  I get very tired of the exercise Dog & Pony to run through the different random procedures & hoping that something will work.  I tried the fix from Microsoft using a flashdrive D/L from the Windows site to my XP machine and tried a few manual corrections proposed on various websites, but nothing seems to work.  I have no HP manufacturer disk to reload the Vista operating system.  The connection is good, the cable is good, but Vista gives me contradictory information about the diagnosis, such as ERROR 815, and he tells me also a cable is disconnected (not true, the cable is plugged & good & works very well when the Vista connection is restored), while another diagnostic message indicates the internet connection is good, at the same time other messages say is not.   What can I do to fix this problem in Vista?  Personal e-mail is: * address email is removed from the privacy * -I will check that URL of Web site for the possible answer.    Thanks in advance.

Imrand - Thanks for the tip, I tried it & it didn't work.  However, I found an update of the HP driver for the network card Realtek in my machine, & after d/l this new driver, the problem seems to be fixed.  The Web connection is still good after several cycles of closing & reboot.  I'm not sure, because with this HP Vista PC, I can never be sure of anything, but I think the problem might be due to the rotating system off the NETWORK adapter in sleep mode, & so not put on when waking up.  Diagnostics messages confused and contradictory pages of different screen Windows were of NO use, it looks like the internet connection was good (which it was), while the other would be at the same time say there is no connection due to the disconnection of the cable, while the other at the same time say that the DNS server broadband couldn't recognize my internet query.  Total BS of Vista, which has compounded the problem than he was.  I only am not surprised Microsoft abandoned the Vista operating system so fast, so many other users of Vista have similar internet connection problems.  The user friendly and very stable XP operating system I have on an old PC of Insignia is my favorite.  Microsoft had to quit with it, IMO.

    Thanks for your help, Cimarron

  • Windows 7 of intermittent wired lan/internet connection.

In a Word, my Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) PC intermittently drops his internet connection. Why?

Reminder: My PC is connected to my DSL modem/router that is directly connected to the telephone line. I also have wireless connectivity enabled in the router for a laptop to the wireless network.

Every few hours or more, using my PC, I find I can't access the internet and the pages will not load. Finally, Windows7 will update the network icon in the taskbar to display the symbol of an exclamation mark on the network icon. Opening of the network and sharing Center will show the red cross between the 'multiple networks' and 'Internet '.

I'm running VirtualBox of Sun on this machine and creates a network connection for itself. This doesn't seem to affect the intermittent dropping (i.e. drops intermittent occur if the connection of VirtualBox is used or not) and indeed, I installed on the two other machines (Windows XP and the other Vista Home Premium (32 bit)) of VirtualBox and these work without any problem.

When the connection does not drop, I can't access internet pages, or I can access the router at http://192.168.1.1/ web administration page, so I guess I lost all local LAN access too.

It certainly isn't the router (or the Internet itself) as my laptop, using the wireless connection (and running Vista Home Premium) continue to be able to access the internet (and the pages of the router web admin) very well.

Whenever this happens, I can immediately restore all the internet and local network access by opening the network map page, disable the "connect to the Local network' and then the reactivation. Give it a few seconds and all is well again. I guess that's because, under the MISTLETOE, it actually makes a "ipconfig/release" then "ipconfig / renew".

The allocation of IP for Windows 7 computer is the same before and after the "drop". I have a DHCP server on the router issuing IP addresses, but my Windows 7 computer uses a static address (192.168.1.2).  I also tried with a dynamic IP (served to the ADSL router) and there is no difference.

There is also no specific measure in the event logs various system, other than what relates to the abandonment plug which is a "customer DNS event" and it is generated once the connection dropped and is an event specifying DNS information that could not be found for any Web site I can I try to access, just after the connection is interrupted.

The NIC chipset is Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller and I have confirmed that it is the correct chipset for the motherboard (Asus M4A77TD PRO), and in fact, Windows Update installed a driver for this updated January 12, 2009. Details of the update is an update of the Realtek software since December 2009. Either way, I was still having the same intermittent problems before this update. He seems to have done no difference at all.

Anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?  I have looked for answers to this and seen a few other people (even on the MSDN/Technet forums) affected by the same or almost the same problem, but with no clear resolution. Suggestions of disabling IPv6 on the LAN adapter and ensure there is no power 'dormant' management the network adapter have been tried but do not cure the problem. It doesn't seem to be a particular sequence of events likely to occur either. I got to go twice in 20 minutes when just randomly on the web without any other traffic and I also had it go once then not again go for 2 or 3 hours with the same type of use.

Can anyone tell me why this is happening and how to make it stop?

  • Intermittent slow internet connection

I've been running windows 7 (64 bit professional) for several months now and at first, everything was great. However in the last few weeks (maybe even as long as 2 months) I've known internet connection problems. All started with my computer randomly, dropping its internet connection and eventually processed in high latency problems (something of the order of 8000, yes thousand, ms). I first thought that maybe my NIC went out on me, so I replaced it. That worked very well, for about 24 hours, and then the problem was back.

I know it is a question of windows because I tried the exchange of material and nothing worked, and I have a number of other computers in my household with Vista and Windows 7 which have no connection problems either. Sometimes my NIC uninstalling and reinstalling it will make me some time where everything is working correctly. Im running and motherboard intel (DG33FB) with a dual core processor, which once again (and I can only emphasise this point) was working perfectly before this show, despite this Board is "fully supported" by windows 7. I searched the net and tried a few things - research and the deactivation of Hello (I didn't), forcing my 100 Mbit/s/s Full Duplex adapter, install drivers Vista 64 bit in mode of compatibillity for resoove the common communications controller PCI question with some Intel motherboards, etc. I am at the end of the roll and would appreciate greatly any help. Again, this is not a router/ISP issue, as all my other computers work fine, even those with windows 7 - the problem is with 1 machine.

    Thank you
