Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) shows no history with Windows 7

Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) shows no history despite all my efforts. I've allowed 14 days to be kept under Tools, but still shows nothing.
I recently upgraded to Windows 7 on a new PC and used Windows Easy Transfer to bring more files and settings with IE7 WindowsXP successfully.

Any ideas please? I admit that this story is more than an inconvenience than anything.

Internet Explorer 8 works fine with Vista Home Basic.  You should have no trouble with the upgrade.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Family Vista premium SP2 - NAS - I can see it, can open its highest level, can go through it with the windows Explorer - strangely I can browse it with windows internet explorer 8 - what's up with windows Explorer?

I have a WD NAS, who has worked through my Explorer windows until recently - now I can access only through Internet Explorer 8 using FTP.

I use to be able to open the windows Explorer and able to 'network' and click on the NAS and enter my name/password and access all folders and files to the breast. Now I go into windows Explorer and I can see the NAS and I can click on it and enter my name and password, and it shows even the top-level folders-

I can't do any further due to the standard contextual windows alert, and the message goes between the "network name is not available" and the message "already mapped the drive. I have not noticed a model and did not install anything at the same time. Don't try to do wireless, the NAS is ethernet wired to my router and my router to my computer - no router updates/changes - no updates/changes NAS - no I do not have the mapped drives sitting over there, yes I'm admin on the computer and the NAS server - there is no noticeble change I can find - not firewall , no anitvirus, no microsoft updates - anything good for troubleshooting?

Anyone has an idea why only windows Explorer fails now to be able to access the NAS, esp when FTP with internet explore works fine? Thank you!

    Hi Dgbjr68,

    Try the following steps.

    Step 1

Check the behavior in SafeMode with network and post back the result.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode

    Step 2

You can also try to temporarily disable the firewall on your computer and check the status.

NOTE: Enable the firewall after trying this step.

  • HELP Please: problems connecting to Google Chrome or Internet Explorer: think it has to do with my network cards

My computer works perfectly except that I can't connect to the internet using Google Chrome or Internet Explorer. Internet works fine.  I have another computer that is connected to the same network, and it works fine.  Also my signal strength is optimal. When I try to go on Google Chrome, it says that the web page is unavailable & the reason why is error: 105 (net: ERR_NAME__NOT_RESOLVE) the server is not found.  When I try to use the Internet, I get this message:

Device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device (Code 31)
I've tried everything and looked at other forums. I went into Device Manager and tried to update the driver, but whenever I do it just says that all updates are already made.
I really feel that my problem has something to do with network cards. When I go to Device Manager and discovered the network adapters 13 different adapters appear. The 1st is Atheros AR5007 802. 11b / g Wireless Adapter and it looks like it works very well but there are 11 different (Microsoft 6to4 adapt #10) (all have different # s, 10,11,12,14,15,16,17,18,20,5,9) there is (NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller)
I think the problem is with the Microsoft 6to4 adapters because win I right click & then click on PROPERTIES of each adapter says: State of the device, this device is not working properly because windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31) So, is to "find solutions", says & when I do that nothing happens, a message flashes on the screen that says: "Could not load driver software" and that windows is looking for information, but nothing ever happens.
Can some1 please help me! My computer worked fine and both Google Chrome and still worked and then out of the blue it just stoped working. Any information would be very useful

    wisports,
Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers community forum.

You have found the source of your problems.  You must remove or uninstall, all the cards of 6to4.  Also delete everything that said map Tunnel or card miniport WUN.  Also uninstall or disable, Internet Protocol version 6 (TCP/IPv6) Properties tab on existing network cards.

Once you have done these things, restart the computer and make sure that the 6to4 adapters does not return.

Let us know how it works for you.

You have a link in this format:

Some other browsers have an attitude of "we know what the author meant" but Firefox is more literal. Remove signs hash of your attributes by name (not your href attributes) and try again.

  • Internet Explorer has stopped to show the pictures to the Word files... fix?

Internet Explorer will not show the pictures to Word files.  Instead, it shows just the large icons.

It shows the actual thumbnails for .pdf files and image files.  Previously, he showed thumbnails for Word files.  Display thumbnails of .pdf files, it stopped, but which was fixed when I found a program that does a registry change for this problem.

    I have Win7 64 bit, & Word 2010 (32-bit)

I see many people having this problem about the image files and .pdf files, but not Word files.  (.doc .docx .rtf .txt).  (Interestingly, the .txt is mapped to open it with Notepad.  "I get another icon of stock for .txt files - but still no photos).
