  • Update errors (iPhoto, Garageband) inherited iMac 2011

I've updated an iMac mid-2011 legacy of OS X Lion to El Capitan, and almost everything works, except that the App Store again that Garageband and iPhoto (*) requires the update, but when I try to do updates: "Update not available with this Apple ID" / "this update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by another user or the item has been repaid. or cancelled. "(for Garageband, has always been the same second part of that message; I could have sworn that attempts to update iPhoto used to give another like the one given below after a failed attempt to execute it, but now, it's the same mistake as with Garageband).  After that, I get another message, "We could not complete your request." / "there was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (null) ».

(*) I understand not iPhoto is obsolete, but despite you ask to import from iPhoto, Photos actually seems to have done the job (maybe he did, but I can't be sure if I can't open iPhoto), so I would need to retrieve inherited photos (family).  If it is not possible to update, can someone let me know which directories to go to be safe?

The existing version of iPhoto is 9.2.1 - this will not work and says he needs an update (who, when tried, gives the error message "Point not available" / "the object you requested is not available in the US store.").  The existing version of Garageband is 6.0.4 - this runs, but says it needs an update.

To the best of my knowledge, the previous owner never bought either of these as a separate post (the previous owner never used Garageband and found it annoying that this has been included in the default Mac OS X software), and I don't think that the previous owner has even bothered where was able to set up a Apple ID , so I don't know why these 2 programs to give the above error messages when any other update very well.

    How can I fix it?

When Googling for solutions, the people of problems post answers to always seem to be a little different, although I knew to have duplicates on other readers might cause problems (I can say in advance that I don't have this problem: it happens with any connected storage device).  I tried the solution to drag *.app for these last records in the trash and then retrying App Store, but he wants to charge for Garageband and will not appear iPhoto at all (although it shows for iPhoto Add-ons that are always available).  I also saw a workaround complicated for those who want to stick with iPhoto instead of Photos that is to make a new account to install it (in fact I already did, by making a new account on this computer after the update to El Capitan, even if I get the same errors on the previous owner).  Also, before you just drag *.app for these last files in the Recycle Bin permanently, I need to know if other things must be removed to get rid of them, if they cannot be updated.

Before anyone arrives on my case about do not update the software on the Mac for a long time before Mac OS X El Capitan, also note that the previous owner had problems of health and health problems of the family during the duration of validity as it should have been upgraded, enough to take it past option of discord.

Apologies for any question in double (strangely, putting my question in the search bar or by post in these forums did not turn anything and sent me directly to do this post) or something that should be obvious, these last weeks have been my first experience Mac search in the system (i.e., more than occasional use during the family visit) since the mid-2000s , and this is my first time on these forums.

This you should get a completely restored system so that it was when it was first purchased. After that upgrades should be thin. There is no Apple given ID. All applications must work.

    1. The recovery of Internet startup by pressing Option + command (⌘) r immediately after start-up or that you restart your Mac. Release the keys when you see the Apple logo. Start-up is finished when you see the utility window.
    2. Open utility drive in the Utilities window, then use disk utility to erase your hard disk using the Mac OS extended (journaled) format. Quit disk utility when done.
    3. Choose Reinstall macOS (or reinstall OS X) in the utility window, and then follow the instructions on the screen.
This installs the system provided with your Mac, when it was new.
  • IPhoto breaking when running a slide show

    Hello

My iPhoto 11 9.4.3 crashes whenever I try to run a slide show. I have a 2012 end Macbook Pro osx 10.8.5 with all updates of operation. I tried a lot of things.

The changes were that simply the message to apple is not the complete message. Can send the complete message if necessary.

Older versions of iphoto are break when they use the functionality of the site.  Slide show you uses it maybe places?

The problem is, that Apple has not renewed the contract with Google for access to location servers, and older versions of iPhoto will plant it, when they need to find a location and try to access Google's servers.

See this: Bug: iPhoto 9.4 crashing when viewing the scene

You have several options as described in the tip of the user:

    • Try to upgrade to a version of iPhoto that uses different servers, if you can update to iPhoto 9.6.1 on Sierra. IPhoto 9.5.1 find use serve various places of research.
    • Patch iPhoto to delete the iPhoto Application package Java script code
    • Patching javascript files and add your own for Googles servers access key.
  • How to copy photos in the photos on a cd application, it was easy in iPhoto, but seems to be missing

I need to make a cd of the photos app, and he took on the transition of the photos from iPhoto app, it seems. also if you copy high resolution images that have been implemented phot they now photos when you copy them

You must have upgraded from an earlier version of iPhoto because the option was not in any recent versions. In addition, burning a CD in iPhoto burned a library, not copy the pictures, so anyway, the process to engrave pictures on the disc is the same as it's always been:

Export images from the application (file-> export) to a folder on the desktop and burn with the Finder.

also if you copy high resolution images that have been implemented phot they now photos when you copy them

Pretty much depends on what you mean by "copy". Use the Export command and you can choose the size of photos, quality of the files, and many other variables too. This was written for iPhoto, but it's about 95 percent even in Photos.

  • When I drag imessage photos in iphoto, it shows that they give, but then I can't find photos in iphoto. and when I open the finder there is no option of 'media' in the side menu.

Could not find photos in iphoto after drag / drop imessage

Correct, there is no media browser in the finder - only for download or open or install windows

They show in the last import? check your type of event - they are probably n = just not where you are looking - in the last import done right click on one and show events - an event should open with your photo display - if not arrive then back up your iPhoto library and hold down the option and command keys at the launch of the iPhoto and repair permissions hen rebuild the database

  • iPhoto import JPG (unrecognized format)

I got a new imac and try to import some picture to my external drive imac. Process as below:

    1. move the photo Mac locate drive

    2. slide the photo album

Everything works well except those files with "JPG", appearing as "Format not recognized", please kindly advice if something wrong in my process on this, because this is the first time that I use Mac.

What version of iPhoto and the operating system you have? What is the source of the photos? They open correctly in the preview? Have you tried to use the import command (menu, file == > import)?

  • Former iPhoto and Aperture User grieving

Before you convert it to El Capitan (ver. 10.11.6), I appreciate the help I havepicture and the opening.  Although the pictures replace actually I havethe Photo, there are situations where I liked having the deep characteristics of the opening.  After having not read all the subtleties, I learned the hard way that these applications would be will stop working during the execution of El Capitan.  i picture is not so much a problem, but losing Aperture is a bitter pill to swallow, especially considering what I paid for the application.

The App store continues to send updates to I havepicture and the opening, but the OS does not allow me to apply.  Is it preferable that I delete these apps from my system (iMac), move forward with Photos?  At a minimum, what is the solution to stop doing updates?  In the ideal, is there an option somehow continue to use Aperture?

Your expertise and your interest is really appreciated.

    Sincerely,

    Phillip McDowell

You need to be a little more specific I have spin El Capitan and I always use Aperture. Certainly, it is no longer supported, but it certainly still works with El Capitan (I don't know if it still works with the new OS coming out this fall if). Besides, the fact iPhoto. Photos is installed by default, but it does not remove iPhoto - when you open a photo, you can just bring up the get info window by selecting the photo icon, then pressing command + I. Then modify the application you want to use with this photo - or all of them - to iPhoto.

  • Can see, but can not access, photos of iPhotos migrate Photos for Mac

    Hello

I transferred my my former (white) mac's iPhoto library to my new Macbook Air. I now see my iPhotos on Photos of Mac, but I'm unable to export or share (nothing happens if I click on these options), or even copy and paste. If I try to contact by e-mail or page that they do not appear on my photos via the Finder (but I can see more recent pictures no iPhotos initially). So basically I can see them, but can do something with them.

    Everyone knows about this problem?

If this does not occur, my only thought as to what this may be the case is due to an error in the migration? I have now installed Library upgrade on my new Mac (I think I was already use when migrating on the old Mac but don't remember the details), but so that he can see my iPhotos library, it is grayed out, so I can't try and apply the upgrade to the library via new Mac. So I'm stuck again. (if it's the solution, I'm not sure it's..)

Does anyone have any ideas what is the problem and how to fix? Where is possible it's just a failure of Apple/iphotos old photos have no Photos for Mac features?

    Thank you!!

    It certainly has the feature.

Have you tried to repair the library: back to the top and then press the command and option (or alt) keys all by launching Photos. The dialog that allows you to rebuild.

  • iPhoto folder deleted items

I deleted a whole bunch of photos from iPhoto by mistake.  I read that I can get back them in the "Deleted items" folder but can't find it.  I use MacBook Pro with OS El Caitan 10.11.6 2015

First of all, iPhoto is not a folder to delete items.  The fact only new Photos.

Second where did you delete the photos, that is an album, window pictures, all the pictures window, where? And how did you delete, IE what combination of keys?

If you delete a photo from an album with just the delete key it is not removed from the library, from the album.  That's why the album recently removed will not be displayed.  Read on for how to remove photos from a photo library:

Remove Photos from a library of Photos 1.5

    1. regardless where you are in the library, i.e. Moments, collections, albums, smart albums or projects, select the photos you want to remove, use the command + delete keyboard shortcut to move the photos to the recently deleted smart album.

2 - Click on the albums smart recently deleted in the sidebar.

NOTE 1: If you use pictures 1.2 or earlier, use the option menu file ➙ show recently deleted .

    3. in the recently deleted album, you can opt to leave the photo automatically delete after the 30-day waiting period is in place, remove them immediately or restore them in the library.

NOTE 2: deleting a photo from an album, slideshow, book, etc., the delete key only deletes the photo of this element.  There is no combination of keys that will remove a photo from a project and move directly to the recently deleted smart album.

NOTE 3: removal of a photo of a moment or Collection (window pictures) or Photos of all window deletes ALL occurrences of this photo in the library.

  • Remove the change in behavior from iPhoto

In iPhoto, pressing the DELETE key on picture deleted the photo from the album. In the Photos app, it deletes the actual photo. I'm not sure that understand the advantage of this change in behavior. Makes it much more difficult to make a choice of photos by albums. Comments submitted. This must change, back in my opinion, unless someone can explain to me the advantage of this new behavior.

    NO.

choosing a photo in an album delete and pressing user removes only the photo album of the user (in some of the supplies system smart albums it's different since you cannot delete a photos in a smart album in Photos or iPhoto except by changing the criteria for the smart album that is not possible for the system smart albums)-command remove it will remove photos in the recently deleted album

Don't forget you have system smart albums user albums (as the last import, all photos, videos, etc.) and the smart albums of the user - each works differently

You can also right click on photo and select Delete album

  • I cannot import video from iPhoto to iMovie because the app does not appear under 'movies '.

OK, so I'm trying to download a video of 4 min 26 s (739 MB 1920 x 1080 29,96 fps H.264) in iMovie & iMovie does not recognize my Nikon D800 as being connected, so I uploaded the video to my iPhoto.  My original iPhoto has been deleted because it was corrupted and the peeps on the Apple Store deleted and created a new.  Now when I go in iMovie, I click on "Import" and then I click 'Movies' and in the window, all I can choose is iMovie, a directory of blue movies, PhotoBooth, & iTunes. Help! I just eventually want to download YouTube : (o)

In the screenshot you posted, you should see iPhoto in the list between films and photo booth. Also movies iPhoto should appear in the browser. Since you see nor it seems than iMovie and the operating system cannot see iPhoto library. If you click the photo button in the toolbar you see your photos in iPhoto? If this is not the case, this would confirm a problem with iPhoto library. Try opening iPhoto, hold down the command and option keys. In the first aid window trying to repair the library and perhaps rebuild if repair does not fix your problem.

  • Moving iPhoto/photo library

    Hello

I'm moving my iPhoto and photo library to an external hard drive to save space on my MacBook Pro SSD. Once I located in my home folder, then the folder images, both iPhoto and photo libraries are there, and they say they have a capacity of approximately 200 GB each, so about 400 GB in total. When I moved the iPhoto on the external drive library (holding slipped and fell on the command key, so do NOT copy), he moved the so-called 200 GB in just about 15 minutes and when I checked my storage "about this mac" I won only about 6 GB. I have to move all the other files or through any other process to actually moved the library? I tried restart and have begun in iPhoto with the menu to choose the library and it still works fine and it is said that the entire library is on the external hard drive, but the ability is not sensible for me. Thanks for your time.

    -Gmanrockstar31

they say they have a capacity of approximately 200 GB each, both on 400 GB total

This is not correct.  The two libraries share the same data on the HDD through hard links initially so that they only take twice the amount of space on the hard disk. They can be copied/saved independently.

New photos added to each library are independent of the other library.

Here is more information about hard links:

Photos saves disk space to share images with your iPhoto or Aperture - Apple Support libraries

The (hard) link between Photos and iPhoto

In the future, do not use the move feature.  If there is a problem then its moving target file may be damaged and the source file will be removed leaving you without useable file.

  • Photos does not, any more than iPhoto

Photos, which worked yesterday, will suddenly be open are not not iPhoto. I restarted several times and tried to open while pressing the command option. Nothing. Help!

all of a sudden not open, nor will be iPhoto.

What happens when you try? It crash? You get an error message?

What has changed before photos is more launched? Have you installed new software? Run any new application? Move the photo library to a differnet drive?

    Running out of storage?

  • Rotation of the photos in iPhoto I could simply use the trackpad with 2 fingers turning motion.  In pictures, it seems that I have to use the Edit menu, etc etc?

In iPhoto, I could simply use the trackpad with 2 fingers rotating motion to change photos quickly to stand.  In the Photos but it seems I have to use the Edit menu, etc. etc.?
