How can I get rid of duplicates in different iPhoto libraries? I'm trying to carve out of disk space, so I can update photos from iPhoto, and I can see thumbnails in my two libraries different iPhoto that there are a few photos that are in both libraries. Can anyone help?

iPhoto has no tools to search for duplicates.

You can use iPhoto Library Manager tis earch duplicates and merge libraries into one.  If you do not yet have iPhoto Library manager, you can wait with double search until you have migrated photo libraries and the use of pictures of power instead. Photos of power is the successor of iPhoto Library Manager for Photos.

  • Import of several in a "single" lbrary Photos iPhoto libraries

Several libraries of iPhoto in (1) import only library Photos?.  I would like to combine all my "iPhoto" libraries in the new library 'Photos '.

Photos can open each of your iPhoto libraries in turn, but it cannot merge libraries.

If you have access to Aperture, merge your iPhoto library using Aperture, before converting to the libraries of Photos.

If you use iCloud photo library and sign up for enough cloud storage to organize all of your photos, you can merge libraries in iCloud. If you designate each library in our as your iCloud photo library, all photos will be publish iCloud and sync to your current library, so the last library you use as the iCloud photo library will hold all the photos and albums. But it will take a paid subscription iCloud, if your libraries are large.

Otherwise, you will need to export photos from the separate libraries and import in the library merged.

You can simplify this by investing in a PowerPhotos. It allows you to browse several libraries of Photos in a convenient way of having to open the pictures and move photos between libraries.  You can merge libraries and keep records and metadata tags.

Is it possible to recover my IPhoto libraries? I just bought a macbook pro running IOS 10.11.3

Back where? If you have had and old Mac running iPhoto and want to use this library with Photos on the new Mac, you can copy the iPhoto library from the old Mac to the new and then migrate to the new application Photos: start with Photos for OS X - Apple support

  • All my iPhoto libraries can with 9.2.3 since automatically upgrade from 2012?

In January 2011, I bought an iMac with installed iPhoto and I put the file of preferences for automatic updates.

I had no time to pay close attention to all things iPhoto, so I just added photos without thinking. Now, I have 4 or 5 libraries and asked me to choose one for the current empty iPhoto 9.2.3. I don't know what to choose. They all will work on 9.2.3 since they have automatically updated throughout the 5 years? Or is it just one who will work, or can I alternate at different times and think they'll all be achievable? I have no idea. I'm on Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and I don't want to put anything right now. Does anyone have an idea what I can anticipate? Thanks in advance for any light you could throw on it.

Maybe - depends on information unknown as what version of iPhoto, they were created with - basically if they were created by iPhoto ' 09 or 11 they will be - if they were created with iPhoto ' 08 or earlier, you will need to download and run the program upgrade the iPhoto library - using the tool of valorisation of the iPhoto - Apple Support Library

try to open each of them and see exactly what is happening

  • cannot switch between iPhoto libraries

Just recently, my mac made me create a new library for iPhoto. I don't know why, maybe my first one was overloaded, because I have a LOT of photos and videos and we used only. But after that there is a new one (which is of course empty), it won't let me come back to my old one. When I go to the tab to switch between libraries and click to choose another, I can still see my original library. But whenever I click on it to switch to him, my computer does not respond. It doesn't do anything. I think that all my old content is still on my computer, I just can't access. Can someone help me please? I have a lot of media that I need!

  • Remove photos already imported into iphoto using several libraries

    Hello

I am running iPhoto 9.5.1 and due to the large amount of photos that I take and trying to stay organized, I have multiple iPhoto libraries. I'm in a situation where I have pictures on a card of the camera, which belong to two different libraries. When I opened one, I see all of the available import photos (as I have never imported it none of them, but want to import some of them). When I opened another library, I see some already imported and some available import (as I already imported some). At this point, I want to delete only on the map, those that were imported, so that when I open the first library, the only photos showing import, are those who are new and have never been imported in the previous library. A bit complicated, I know, but I will not reproduce in several libraries. So my question... when I see the line of photos already imported into iPhoto, is there a way to select and iPhoto just delete them camera card? I tried, but I can't seem to make it happen. If not, does anyone have another suggestion how to proceed (if all goes well simply), making sure that I don't accidentally lose pictures?

Thank you very much in advance for any help

    rostopovitch

It's complicated! How many photos are on the map? To really have control, I would probably want to delete the photos using the finder. But for this, you have to have a master list of what to get rid from that should be kept. I think you want to close iPhoto before deleting anything.

Fat Cat Software has a program called iPhoto Library Manager that really made these much easier questions for me. He made comparing libraries and move photos between libraries much easier. I don't think that you can use for your problem exactly, but you would be able to load it all into a library to be sure you had everything and then move or copy photos as needed. I recommend it if you plan to keep this multiple configuration of the library. http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iPLM/

  • Is it safe to delete my iPhoto, imported at the opening libraries and now imported to the Photos?

A few years ago I imported my two iPhoto libraries into Aperture, have stopped using iPhoto and have used Aperture since then.  Now I imported my Aperture library with Photos.  Is there a reason why I can't delete old iPhoto library?    My Aperture library is 400 GB, and the two combined iPhoto libraries are 80 GB, so it would free up a place.  Then, I would delete the iPhoto example program.  Thank you!

If you use iPhoto is no longer, so there is no reason why you can't delete libraries. Photos and opening should have their own libraries. Just be sure to have all the photos transferred to the Photos. Once deleted, you cannot recover the library unless you have a backup somewhere.

You can do the same thing with opening if you are not using.

  • iPhotos Deleting and combining and Unix?

    Three questions:

    1. I have three photos of 4,000 in my waste of iPhoto. These three photos I want to delete ONLY! How can I do this without deleting the entire folder of 4,000 in the Trash now.

    2. it seems to me including myself 3 iPhoto libraries - is there a way to combine into one. It's confusing.

    3. when I go to the images via Finder there is the following. A black square that then said: Photo database, amended on 21 January 2016, created January 2, 2016, 31 k, Unix executable, last Date Opened May 30, 2016.

    What is c?

    Can I delete it?

What does Unix executable? And why a black box?

    Thanking you in advance,

    Belinda

1 n ° just like everywhere else in the OS Mac, the trash isn't a place to store the files that you * might * want to remove. This is a place to delete files. You might also wonder why keep you 4 000 files in your trash in iPhoto. Solution: Delete the files you want to keep the trash - make a new event and then delete the others.

    2. you can merge libraries iPhoto with the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager. It is the only way to do it.

    3. that sounds like junk. You can delete it.

  • Photos and iPhoto Library - transfer both?

Hello. I'm trying to transfer my library of Photos on an external hard drive to free up space on my Mac. I noticed there is a huge iPhoto library in both images and don't know what to do with it.

I'm running OS X El Capitan 10.11.5 and was completely out of memory. I already reformatted a WD My Book, 3 t in the correct format and am currently uploading Photos.  My question is, I need to transfer the iPhoto library as well to keep the Photos work properly? I have read conflicting information. It seems that they may share data and deletion of iPhoto could damage the library?  iPhoto is GB 336, Photos is 447 GB.  I have space for both but prefer delete the iPhoto library rather than transfer if that's for sure. He said also, photo transfer will take 4 days and I do not want to make twice as much...

Separately, I also have a small external hard drive, I moved a partitioned iPhoto library to several years ago. I used iphoto Library Manager software. I have pre 2010 photos out there and no where else other than a backup hard drive. Remove the iPhoto library on my computer effect my ability to use the one partitioned? I would like to merge all to a library of Photos now that I have the space.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

    Yes and no

There is no connection between the photo library and the iPhoto library - you can move or delete without effect on the other - don't know where your found contradictory information but there is no link between them

However, if you move one and keep the other won't save you any space - you must move both to save space on your Mac - if you are sure you are finished with the library of th eiPHoto, then you can simple delete it, but it is advisable to keep a copy of archive of it to the case where

And don't forget that the EHD must meet these requirements-must be in Mac OS extended (journaled) connected via a wired connection format fast as ThuderBolf, FireWire or USB, not used as a backup volume Time Machine and always available before pictures being launched

And the copy of the library (if you have the good fast wired connection) will not take 4 days - the finder is an estimator of bad weather

As for the separate iPhoto library again once there is no link between multiple iPhoto libraries - and there is no way to merge them after their migration into Photos (you can merge the iPhotoLibrary Manager iPhoto or Aperture libraries and you can add pictures to a photo library to another) you can migrate the second iPHoto library by dragging it to the Photos in the Dock icon - PowerPhotoscan merge the masters previews in another library and PowerPhotos can be continued to display the two libraries

  • I have iphoto 8.1.2 and want to update, what's next?

I have iphoto 8.1.2 on my Mac and you want to update, what's next? you want to use the picture on my mac also share.

8.1.2 is the latest update for your version of iPhoto. The current version, iPhoto 9.6.1 is a big new upgrade and requires a purchase, but Apple has stopped the development of iPhoto. You can no longer buy the upgrade you need for Yosemite or El Capitan.

If you want to upgrade to El Capitan, migrate the Photos news for Mac, which comes free with El Capitan application your iPhoto libraries. See this document: updating Photos for OS X - Apple iPhoto support

  • Why were labels in iPhoto do not transferred when photos have been imported to the Photos for Mac?

I've had the label of photos in iPhoto, but these were not imported when I installed pictures.  How can I get these labels in Photos?

    Thanks for your help

    Vernon

This defines how metadata is transferred - How Photos handles content and metadata for iPhoto and Aperture - Apple Support

However, there is no field in iPhoto pictures or named 'Label' - what are you exactly talking (there are descriptions, keywords, filenames, titles, places, faces, etc. - but not of "labels")

and there is no import in question - you are migrating towards Photos iPhoto libraries - do not import anything

  • Problems with access to old photos via iphoto or photos

I need access to back up photos on an external drive. Because they are now stored in iphoto, not in the images, I can not open them as documents and need to go through the old iphoto library. I installed iphoto upgrader, but the application won't open after being updated. It can also be opened in the new photos app. I don't want to lose all my photos old due to changes in the software, please help!

. I installed iphoto upgrader, but the application won't open after being updated

The iPhoto Library installation of valuation must be installed, and then run to upgrade from iPhoto libraries, if they were created in a very old version of iPhoto - iPhoto7.1.2 or more.  You said that you install, but you run it?  See this link: using the tool of valorisation of the iPhoto - Apple Support Library

Once your iPhoto library has been upgraded, you should be able to drag the pictures to icon Mac to convert it into a library of Photos and browse it in hotos.

I need access to back up photos on an external drive

Is what kind of backup?  She is part of a Time Machine backup or a disk of Time Machine?

You can access libraries iPhoto pictures, if the library is not used by Time Machine, and Mac OS extended (journaled) file system disk.

If the player has a different file system, copy the old iPhoto library to another drive.
