iPhoto to the conversion of Photos

I recently downloaded all my photos on my iMac iPhoto photos and iCloud for backup.

All my custom in iPhotos albums made it safely through the conversation, but I have a few questions that I don't know how to fix or if they are fixable:

1. I use to be able to select the Albums I wanted to be downloaded on my iPhone and iPad, now every single Album of Photos on the two which I don't want, is not an option most?

2. There is now a lot of Albums on my iPhone and iPad that I don't want and I didn't create, can they be removed permanently such as: selfies, panoramas, gusts, screenshots of iPhoto events?

3. I see this film changed its name to all the Photos, but it shows every single picture that I have in the Photos Application, I don't want all of them on the phone, how do fix you this?

4. because all the pictures are now uploaded to iCloud, now, it seems to take a long time for all the photos in each album is displayed on the iPhone, is any way to change this?

5. in each photo album I created a logo/custom icon then when I scroll through all the albums, I could quickly identify what album was that, now, each photo album shows the last picture in the window of the iPhone instead of the first image/photo in this album, is anyway to change that too?

6. in the Photos application, there is an album called last import a handful of photos out there and they moved into other albums but if I come back in the last Album of import, I remove each picture, then the picture in another album deletes as well?

Sorry for all the questions, been trying to figure this on my own and I'm wrong.

Thanks, Jodi

Firstly - iCloud library is not a backup - it's a library of synchronization service - iCloud Photo library FAQ - Apple Support

See more precisely

Do I need a backup?

ICloud library stores all of your photos and original videos in iCloud, but we still recommend that track you return of copies of your library. You can upload your photos and videos to iCloud on your computer and store them in a separate library, transfer them to another computer with transfer of images or Photosor store them on a separate drive

1. selective sharing is not an option - as more high ICPL is a service to keep the libraries all connected identical - all additions, deletions and changes made on any device are made on all devices = for devices with limited memory, you choose to use pictures optimized on this device

2 - no - SystemTop albums like you list cannot be changed or removed - they are part of the system

3. you can't - see #1

4 - no - have all devices to complete their initial download? Until they do things are flawed - once the download is complete, I found the continuous updates to be fast - even though I have hundreds or even thousands of holiday photos to sync

5 - Open the album on your Mac and then right-click on the picture of your choice - select make-button photo

6. of course - when you remove a photo from the library, he went everywhere, exactly as if it was in iPhoto - exactly like the iPhoto albums are not a place - they are to the Organization and are just a display of photos in the photo library

  • How can I recover photos lost in the conversion of Photos?

Was > 90 k pictures and nearly 200 albums iPhoto library. Bought a new iMac with El Capitan and convert photo library. After conversion, most of the albums displayed holders place empty, some with title data, but more without. Saved and repair (command option, open Photos). Post a regeneration, it is now only display 8 k photos with about 10 albums. See no reason for what is successful and what was lost, even if the older DSLR photos seem to be most of what has disappeared. Any help would be appreciated.

first thing I would do is the original library repeat migration - restore your backup of it and drag the backup restored to Photos icon in the Dock to migrate

  • 'image' for the conversion of "photo".

    LabVIEW dear gurus,.

I have a problem I would like to help with. I have a labview VI that creates an image using the entire block 'IMAQ image', and I a VI which allows the selection of image with the mouse. Most of the code for this second VI is an example. The problem is my photo VI selection requires that the image of the data type 'image', but the photos my other VI creates are the data type "image." CTRL-h wrote the first type of wire is 'image' and the second type of thread is "Image Dst Out (IMAQImage). I need either to convert the 'image' to 'image', or rewrite my photo selection to take in a variable "image" instead of "photo". I'm not particularly good at labview, I'm short on time, so conversion seems to be the best option. I found another thread that talks about the conversion of an 'image' in a table, but I do not know how to turn this table back into a 'picture '. Someone at - it ideas?

    Thank you

    Hi Daniel,.

The VI I posted actually did the right thing, but I misnamed it.  Where did you see this VI?  I just created myself on my PC here.  Anyway, here's the same VI to 8.2.

However now I need access to the years of photos I can't find them there at all? I also backed up on an external hard drive iphoto but now cannot open that my mac does not support? • iPhoto to the Migration of the Photo

I recently spent hours doing several photo books in iPhoto 6.0.6 v. (322).  When I tried to buy the books and received their approval, I received the following message: "the possibility of ordering books, cards, calendars and prints is no longer supported in this version.  Upgrade for OS X to order Photos. »

Is it possible to export and save the photo books before you migrate to pictures?  I'm afraid I'll lose the books pictures during the migration process.

    Thank you!

The books are simply database entries in iPhoto - you can't save them separate from the entire library 9and that you should never go without a good current backup

Unless something goes wrong, you will not lose the books or else by the upgrade to Photos – however photo books are often much different than iPhoto books and you may not be satisfied with what is available after the upgrade - backup and upgrade, and if you don't like not the results that you can order atPrestoPhoto iPhoto books

  • Why were labels in iPhoto do not transferred when photos have been imported to the Photos for Mac?

I've had the label of photos in iPhoto, but these were not imported when I installed pictures.  How can I get these labels in Photos?

    Thanks for your help

    Vernon

This defines how metadata is transferred - How Photos handles content and metadata for iPhoto and Aperture - Apple Support

However, there is no field in iPhoto pictures or named 'Label' - what are you exactly talking (there are descriptions, keywords, filenames, titles, places, faces, etc. - but not of "labels")

and there is no import in question - you are migrating towards Photos iPhoto libraries - do not import anything

  • How to import photos from iPhoto to the Photos without losing the date structure

    Hey there,

Today, I realized that not all my photos to the Macintosh iPhotos Photos last year. At this point, I'm missing about 700 photos.

Is it possible to merge the iPhoto to the existing photo library library while keeping the structure of date? I tried just to drag some photos but they then imported as if they were taken today.

If possible, I want to keep the date structure so that all the photos that were taken at the same time will remain together.

Export images from iPhoto to the Finder, and then import them to Photos.

    File-> edit

    This trick of the user

    https://discussions.Apple.com/docs/doc-4921

a details of the options in the export dialog.

    Ignore the file date.

There are two types of metadata involved considering the jpeg or other image file.

One is the data file. That's what shows the Finder. That tells you nothing about the content of the file, just the file itself.

The problem with the metadata file is that it is easy to change the file is moved from one place to another or exported, by electronic mail, downloaded, etc.

Photographs have also obtained the Exif and IPTC metadata. The date and time that your camera broken that the photo is saved in the Exif metadata. Without worrying if that said the date of the file, this is the actual time recorded by the camera.

Applications of photo like iPhoto, Aperture, Lightroom, Picasa, Photoshop etc. get their date and time of the Exif metadata.

When you export from iPhoto to the new Finder file is created containing your Photo (and its Exif). The file date is reported - exactly - the date of export.

However, does not change the Date of the Photo.

The problem is that the Finder doesn't work with Exif.

Thus, your photo has the correct date and the file does, but these are different things. To perform a sort on the date of the Photo, you will need to use a photo app.

  • The photos in iPhoto and the same pictures? Is it possible to remove/save the photos to iPhoto?

The photos in iPhoto and the same pictures?  Is it possible to remove/save the photos to iPhoto?

Yes, they are literally identical. That is to say, time iPhoto Library and photo library (link) to point to the same files on your drive.

The two libraries does NOT duplicate these files. If you delete the iPhoto library you will find very little storage space.

My suggestion would be to leave in place iPhoto library until you have the habit of Photos and know with absolute certainty that all migrated to Photos correctly. Even in this case, you can copy, save a copy on a disk external backup and only remove them from your main drive.

  • understand the flow of photos from iPhoto library photos vs vs

I just transfer a bunch of photos from an external hard drive in my iPhoto library.  I created several new Albums right here.  The problem is that my photos are not displayed when I click on the Photos icon on my menu bar.  Also new albums and photos will appear not on my iPad via the photo stream.  I don't understand how the 3things: I picture library, photos, photo stream, work-sharing app.  How to do all of my albums (and the photos in these albums) duplicate in all (or appear to) all my devices?

Migrating from iPhoto to a Photos library library affects only the photos in the iPhoto library in time. Photos and albums added to the iPhoto library after that will be in the iPhoto library unless you also import the photos into your photo library and set and fill albums.

Albums are not spread through my photo stream, only by iCloud photo library.

The new model is of approximately:

    * Use only the Photos app and the library of Photos on your Mac (s). After the initial migration, ignore iPhoto and its library.

    * Use iCloud photo library as the repository ignoring my photo stream unless you have devices that don't support icloud photo library (for most older iPods). You may need to increase your storage plan iCloud to organize all your photos and videos.

    * Use the Photos app on your iPhone (s) and iPad (s) with iCloud as library active. Again, my photo stream is necessary only if you have devices that don't support icloud photo library. You can use the option "optimize storage' to save the storage space on your iPhone (s) and iPad (s).

  • Not all the pictures uploaded Photos in iPhoto (cloud)

    Hello

I have an iMac 2009 mid and iPhoto loaded with 77 GB of photos loaded in it.

I followed the instructions for migrating my images to Photos in the cloud.

    Seemed to work very well.

However-, it has not added dozens of my recent images that were in my library for more than a month.

Have no idea how to start the process. I think - although I can't document without a shadow of a doubt - they were there for the initial migration.

I realize that it takes day during the process works initially - but apparently it ended 3 weeks ago.

I am convinced that the process has stopped.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

What is the status of the upload, as evidenced by the Photos?

Is there always a progress bar in the Photos > Preferences > Panel iCloud?

Which is indicated at the bottom of the sight of Photos?

It does not say "up-to-date" or or should I say download?

FIR my library shows "updated just now", which indicates that all the photos have been uploaded.

  • iPhoto / iPhone: import guard same photos

    Hi people,

I had a problem for a while where whenever I import photos, some of these pictures remain behind. It's always the same pictures and the next time I have import these photos are copied again (and still remain behind). Initially, it was just one or two, now I'm at 14 and it is a bit complicated.

All other photos import and are removed as expected, but these guys stick around.

Anyone else seeing this? If so, any advice on how to purge these pictures from my phone?

An odd side note: almost (but not quite) all photos of post-it notes have been taken in the iPhone Evernote app.

    Thank you!

    Mike

What version of iPhoto? The operating system?

What do you mean by "left behind"

You don't have to use it. You can continue to use iPhoto or a 3rd party app.

Did you move the iPhoto library for the external hard drive or the iPhoto application, or both?

How is formatted the external hard drive? Is the file system on the drive Mac OS extended (journaled) or other system files?  Is the drive directly connected by USB or similar, or is it a SIN?
