Is it possible for me to load my copy of windows vista on a second computer?

I had a computer I bought Windows Vista to computers and installed. A few months later, the computer crashed (I think that the power supply has failed and chips to the motherboard somehow, don't know what happened). I'm pretty sure that the hard drive has survived, but I don't have money to buy/build a new computer to put it in. However, I got another computer on my father, but my hard drive is not compatible with it, so I can not just hard drives. The computer that I got from my father has a virus on the hard drive and I thought just re - format, but we do not have the original copy of Windows XP that was on it. Is it possible that Microsoft won't let me use my copy of Windows Vista is already installed on my useless hard drive on the computer, I received of my father?

-Thaddeus Grudniewski

Your copy of Vista can be used on one computer at a time.  If it is an OEM copy, it can only be used on the original computer on which it was installed.  If it's a retail copy, it can be moved to another machine but only one at a time.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

    E

Can move you to a new Windows 7 computer

If it's a full license or upgrade retail - Yes. You can move it to another computer as long as it is installed on a single computer at a time (and if it's a Windows 7 Upgrade version the new computer must have its own qualification license XP/Vista/7). The previous installation of Windows 7 on the old computer must be formatted or deleted. You will have to perhaps call Microsoft and explain what happened to complete activation. Turning it on the second computer will automatically be in effect 'disable' the license for the first computer. The key works with 32 and 64 bit, but can only be installed at a time.

If it's an OEM license - don't. OEM licenses, including Windows preinstalled on a computer before purchase and Windows purchased separately, are related to the first computer, they are installed on and cannot be transferred to another computer. To install Windows on another computer, you will need to buy another copy.

    Hello

There's a photo guide based on the recovery of your model here...

    http://www.Sony-Asia.com/support/tutorial/381906/product/VGN-fz18g

If you cannot use this method because what did your friend, your options are...

    • Pay Sony for media recovery
    • A base Windows installation followed by installing specific Sony drivers and software from their Web site.

If you walk down the road of the latter, I would say that, if possible, before you begin reinstalling Windows you download at least the Ethernet drivers and wireless and save in, for example, a USB key. Start your drivers to search for them (and other) here...

    http://www.Sony-Asia.com/support/product/VGN-fz18g/FAQ

.. everything will be difficult to download if drivers that allow access to the internet are not native to a new installation of Windows.

Your principled stand against Sony charges for media recovery is, in my opinion, wrong. As I already said twice...

If Sony did not provide recovery media that they have provided the means to create them

If you lost or do not burn them and messed up your recovery partition, it's not for lack of Sony.

My serious recommendation is to accept a fee of Sony for the recovery media. It will make life much simpler for you. For this reason alone, it is probably useful tax, especially considering that you're obviously not a user advanced. Otherwise, why ask the help of a friend and ask for help on this forum?

I suspect that the links I've seen on this website are actually only valid for Windows 7 media images. If you do not buy the recovery media and go with an iso image download Vista Home Premium, I have to warn about the following...

    • The legality of this is, at best, questionable
    • If it's not genuine Microsoft media you might end by in an even bigger mess (if it works at all)

  • A copy of Windows Vista on a current copy of loading

My daughter has ignored the constant reminders on his cell phone to upgrade the antiviral software. We also have a network of Wi - Fi high flow and she forgets to log out. Enough with my shortcomings as a parent. It seems that the current version of Windows Vista has become corrupted somehow because even after using the software and then manually chasing viral channels the old fashioned way have the files and their location identified and then find and remove the necessary channels. I just want to reload Windows Vista during the current edition. I have all the product keys and did similar re - installed with an earlier version of windows. The concern I have is that I did not find simple re - install instructions. All of them talk about partitioning or re-partitioning the hard drive. Maybe I'm be thick headed, but can I just start the computer, insert the DVD in, select install and manually choose Customize I need that no longer works correctly? Sorry about the verbosity, but I want to be as clear as possible and thanks in advance.

    Hello

You must delete the existing Vista partition and reload Vista and get rid of the malware.

That's how a clean reinstallation is made.

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

looking for software for downaloda pmb for windows vista for sony dcr dvd403 handycam

looking for software for downaloda pmb for windows vista for sony dcr dvd403 handycam

You have Windows Vista 32-bit and a Sony DCR-DVD403 with LCD 2.7 "...

According to the Windows Vista for Sony DCR-DVD403 Compatibility Center the device itself is compatible without any intervention on your part.  Support for any third party hardware or software is always from the hardware manufacturer or software.  It is their place to ensure that their hardware and software are compatible with the operating systems their customers use (or not to do - put an end to their support for said product and basically stating that produced a legacy package/device).

Visit Sony support web page and put in your camera model after you have selected the option for downloads, it takes a place where you can select various downloads.  Simply choose 'Windows Vista' in the menu drop-down "Select an Operating System.  Then it expans show several possible downloads to support this device in Windows Vista, including updates of Picture Motion Browser and Picture Package Sony feeding with their products.  Here are a few updates - so you will need to have a version already installed.

Notes for the Motion Picture Browser declares, "this utility updates PMB versions 1.1 to 5.8.01 and Cyber-shot Viewer version 1.0, PMB version 5.8.02..."- so I think it is reasonable to assume that, as long as you have an installed version (from the CD that came with your camera), you can use this update to bring it up to State fully patched.  Sony offers a link if you need to buy replacement CD for those that you should have received with your product.  Wow - 30 USD - they are proud of their software.  You may have more luck that many others in the research that a download legitimate to PMB is that you do not have your original CD...

  • Installed new module memory for laptop, found original was bad, while windows Vista does not start by going blank after the "status bar".

I have a Windows Vista running on a Sony VIAO laptop and has been updated with level 3 to 4 GB of memory. During the memory test, I found that 2 GB of original module was bad and replace it with the new 2 GB module end back where I started with 3 GB. However, Windows starts only at a little past the rectangle with 3 points moving ("State Bar"?) and them it goes to black and the desktop never appears. I tried to roll back to the last working version of Windows settings, but always the same results.

What can I do now? Is there a way to check and fix disk errors?  Is it possible to install Windows XP Pro or I have to go to Windows 7.  I even has System Mechanic Pro running on this laptop and it did help some casued the problem. It's as if the disc is damaged for some reason any.  Only with Vista felt this helpless.

It seems to me that the new memory you have installed is bad or incompatible with the system.  First, remove all chips and reinstall them and then try to make sure that they are correct and secure again - don't just press them in place, effectively remove and the replacement and make sure they are in the right direction.

Boot from the Installation of Windows Vista genuine disc (or you can borrow from someone) or a recovery disc with recovery options included in this topic. If you do not have a floppy disk, you can make a bootable recovery disk by using http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/ with burning software like: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html and, of course, a blank CD (perhaps made on another computer, or perhaps in SafeMode with network if it does not - that would be a good sign if it is true). You may need to change the BIOS to do first the CD drive in the boot sequence to boot from the CD.  To do this, hold the screen that tells you the key F to push to enter the menu start or start of installation.  Push it quickly. Make the changes, save your work and exit.  Put the CD in the drive and reboot.  When you are prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.  Select recovery options and follow the instructions until you see the menu.  Once there, select the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool and run it and see what it says.  If it detects problems (and I suspect it might), you may need to replace the new chip memory.

I hope this helps.  If this isn't the case, after return and we will try other options.

    Good luck!

I would like to point out something that you may not realize: Windows 8
has two interfaces; the modern/Metro Interface (which may be all the)
you have looked at) and the traditional desktop Interface. You can use
    one or both.
This traditional desktop Interface is almost identical to Windows 7
interface; the biggest difference is that there is no Orb start
Click to bring up the start menu. But note that you can get the beginning
Orb back using one of the many third-party programs, either for free or
    very inexpensive (Classic Shell to)
    http://classicshell.sourceforge.NET/ and debut8 to
    http://www.stardock.com/products/start8/; my personal preference is
Debut8, but they are both very good).
And going from one interface to another is very easy; There are
several ways, but simply by pressing the Windows key is perhaps the
easier. Just install one of these two and using the traditional
Desktop interface may be a better choice for you than go to
Windows Vista. I use Windows 8, almost exclusively with the
traditional desktop interface and start 8 installed. If you were
to view and use my computer, you would have a realization of wireless trouble
    is not Windows 7.

Note that you need to do a clean install, so lose
all data on the drive and all installed programs.

Also note that (especially with a laptop), you may need Windows Vista
drivers for it, and they cannot exist. So before you try, remember to
Check with the manufacturer of the laptop that Vista is performed on it.
