Is it possible to get a user account and all the files associated with it if it has been deleted?

My fiance's brother thought he was doing us a favor of the deletion of a user account that we use too often.  I always use it because it has pictures on what we use a main user account is not.  I am panicing because I fear that these photos were lost.  Is there a way I can restore it?

External USB hard disks costing less than USD 90 for 1.5 TB or more - I do not understand how people lose data these days.

You * might * be able to recover all or part of the files by using an application like Recuva (it's a link, it's free, do not buy anything).

Because you posted in Windows XP - Start searching files in C:\Documents and Settings\ - in particular directory from the old username (which was probably completely deleted.

The machine is used, less you will recover anything.

Whatever the results - I suggest buy you a form any external backup and schedule a periodic and consistent backup that you can go in situations like this.

I desperately need to merge two administrative accounts on my laptop - using XP and NOT windows 7 (so there is no transfer Assistant). I need to transfer all of the OLD admin. account in the NEW Admin account.

For the full backup used Carbonite - due erase hard drive and reinstall XP - carbonite cust. veeeeery slooooow service and I had to use the laptop for the preparatory work.  When the backup has been restored, he implemented the administrative account of origin, besides I have created a new.  Now, most of the files are under the old administrative account, and I need to move the OLD files in the NEW Admin account.

Would sincerely appreciate your very specific instructions? ... step by step, if possible? Not quite a prolific technician, but no slouch, not more.

    Thank you very much!

You can't really merge two accounts. You can copy data from one account to the other. Folder options > view tab > check "Show hidden files". Then go to:

c:\Documents and Settings\name of the old account and copy the files to My Documents, desktop, Favorites in folders in your new user account. When you have all your stuff, you can delete the old user account from the control panel > user accounts. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

From April 2014, no security/more operating system patches released at Microsoft (for the most part) for Windows XP.  It's a BONE death in the eyes of its creator.

Your anti-virus software may or may not be supported - which depends on its own end of life such as decided by its supplier, and even if it is a Microsoft product, is not directly related to the lifecycle of Windows XP (you can say that as Windows XP came with no native antivirus/antimalware features.)

  • Created 2 standard user accounts and now the admin account is inaccessible. How to access my administrator account?

I have Vista Edition Home Premium.  I got the account administrator and only called 'everyday', which were both available on the Welcome screen.  I was usually you log in to the admin account for my daily use of the computer, but realized that it was a bad idea.  I created a new account, he made an admin account and called "administration".  I changed then the administrator account, I had used so far for a standard account and named it 'everyday', which makes the account would connect you to our daily use.  Finally, I created a new standard account called 'secondary' for my husband to use.

Now, when I turn on the computer, only accounts that I am able to connect in the Welcome screen are 'everyday' and 'secondary '.  I tried to find articles that would already be answering my question, but good solutions I've seen do not work or are not completely suitable for my situation.  I know the administrator account exists, I don't know how to connect to it.  How can I access my administrator account now?  Things like system restore and cmd / 'run as administrator' failure because I don't have privileges admin so I can't even begin to perform these tasks.

    Any help is appreciated!

    Hello

I have 5 catalogs organized in a book, everything is in 10 languages, each language is the separate layer. Each book has between 30 and 80 Indesign documents.

I need to edit and print 4 of these languages and manually change the viability of layers is not a good idea for me because of the possible error.

Is there a way to switch layers/languages to occur at the same time?

Layer names are the same in all documents.

    Hello

By "file recovery", you mean the recovery Partition?

Who was photographed by the manufacturer of the computer's hard disk and there is nothing to do with Windows or Microsoft.

It is general information on the recovery Partition:

Your recovery Partition was photographed on your hard drive during the production of your computer by the manufacturer for all of these reasons.

    1. If you want to reinstall Windows from in the case of a failure of the system, based on individuals or the keys at startup.

F10 or Alt + F10 or F11 are a couple of different manufacturers use sequences.

You will need to ask your manufacturer for proper sequence.

    2. to make the recovery disks on if your drive hard breaks down, so that you can then reinstall the operating system on a new hard drive.

Also ask them how to make records.

Your D: Recovery Drive is should not be used for backups, defragmented, etc..

There are backups on an external hard drive.

To fix any problems that have occurred with the D: Partition Recovery, you need to contact the manufacturer of your computer to remove everything that was added on.

    See you soon.

  • Elimination of the 1 of 2 users. At all programs, files, etc., transferred to another user.

    Good evening

    I have XP Professional.

How can I eliminate the 1 of 2 users and have all the programs, files, etc. for use by the user remaining.

In other words when I log on, there is only one user (myself) and all programs, files, etc. from the old user can be accessed by me

I hope that this request is understood.

    Thanks for the quick response.

Programs are generally available in the world (to all users of the system) until they were initially installed for all users. Regarding data (documents, photos, music, etc.), simply copy the files from one user account to the other. Using Windows Explorer (my computer), go to C:\Windows\Documents and Settings\nom A\My Documents and copy what you want C:\Windows\Documents and Settings\nom B\My Documents. Etc.

If this isn't what you wanted to know, please clarify your situation.

  • How to get a user account who disappeared?

I created a limited user account for my son, and when I am connected to my computer the next day, my owner account was gone.  Where it's going and how do I get it back?

    Hi DoodyDave,

Do you mean that you can not see the name of the account in the home screen? Log on to your system as administrator (press ALT CTRL DEL, twice at the Welcome screen).

Now click on start-> Run Type &-> Regedit-> ok.

    Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-> SOFTWARE-> Microsoft-> Windows NT-> CurrentVersion-> Winlogon-> SpecialAccounts-> UserList

Double-click the name of your account, and set the value to 1.

When the computer reboots, you will get your account name in the Welcome screen.

    I hope this helps.
